Auto-run For CD Developed In Flash MX?
I need to create a CD-ROM for a client. l would like to use Flash MX because of it's support of video now, but I am unsure whether or not I can make it auto-run on either the PC or Mac operating systems like you can with Director. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, please tell me how.

Memory Issues In Application Developed Using Flash
Hi,
I have developed in application using Flash MX. This is to be distributed on a CD-ROM. This application calls a number of swfs including swfs that have streaming sounds, videos and games.
Of course, the CD overall has a lot of sounds. The file size of videos may vart from 1MB to 10MB. The file size of the games is from 200-400 KB.
The CD runs fine at our end but in some cases, the sound gets stuck, and the CD sometimes freezes completly.
Could this be a memory issue? Could someone who has already worked on this kind of project and experienced such problems please reply.

Saving An FLA As MX V6 With MX 2004
Hi. I am using MX 2004.
Every time I try and assist someone with MX v6 and save my example file as a MX v6 file, it does not work in Flash MX. Kind of defeats the purpose of allowing someone with MX 2004 to save an FLA as a v6 file.
Any ideas?

Can A Browser-agnostic Rich Text WYSIWYG Editor Be Developed With Flash
Hello.
I need a rich text editor that will work on any machine, and OS and any browser. Flash seems like the ideal way to accomplish this. I have looked at a few commercial Flash products including DevEdit only to discover that they only work with MSIE 5.5+ for Windows!

The reason given is that "special technology called MSHTML is required" and "MSHTML technology is only found in the PC version of IE5.5+"
My question is this: Could a browser agnostic Flash editor be developed? Before I go looking to hire a programmer I would like to know if I am wasting my time. Would it be reasonably possible to develop a browser-agnostic feature-rich WYSIWYG editor in Flash?

Saving MovieClips As JPGs
Hi all,
I'm building this application in Flash as part of my masters degree:

Basically you build your own sheep and then choose what to do with it, one option being emailing it "free" to someone. I've managed to get it to send an email, even an email with a random picture located on my server attached to it, but does anyone have any idea how I could "print screen" as it were the movie clip with the sheep in or save it as a JPG so it can be sent in an email?

Saving MovieClips To SharedObject
I have a MovieClip subclass called Panel. My swf allows users to manipulate Panel instances. It saves their progress to a SharedObject so they can pick up where they left off.
Right now, I use registerClassAlias("Panel", Panel) to allow these objects to be serialized to a SharedObject. When they are loaded back into Flash, I get a series of runtime errors about converting generic Objects to various types of Transform. As long as I don't access the built-in transform property, this causes no real issues.
I'd like to use ColorTransform on the Panels. registerClassAlias("Transform", Class(Transform)) is giving me a security sandbox violation:
SecurityDomain 'file:///C|/Users/.../mySwf.swf' tried to access Player UI context
There is very little talk of this error on the web. I don't understand what it is contesting or why it is a problem. How can I save the Transform class to a SharedObject?

Retriving ULR Vairalbes
i pass variables via URL , the code is below, ... In the URL loaded movie clip, i try to use the variable tempcounter by referncing it like this...
_root.totalImages = _global.tempcounter;
that is not workigng even though i pass tempcounter with my loadvars method, can you tell me what i am doing wrong?

Problems Retriving Value From Asp

I want to retrive a value from an asp file. The value should be used in displaying the correct path to different folders containing images.
In Flash I've tried this and it works:
thePics = "images/west/";
this.pathToPics = (thePics); //this is the path to my image folder west the picture is displayed automaticaly
My problems starts when i want to retrive the path (images/west/) from my asp file. Even if I am able to retrive the correct value flash don't display the image. I want to send the value from thePics into my flash file.
My asp file:
<% Response.Write "thePics=/images/dragar/" %>
Which gives the output: thePics=/images/dragar/
My flash file:
this.loadVariables("test.asp");

Retriving Variables From Function
I'm having trouble retriving variables from a setInterval function that lies in my main timeline. This function updates my clock every tenth of a second. I want to retrieve the variable in a movieclip when the movieclip is pressed. My trace on the variable keeps comming up as "undefined". Retriving A Clips Instance Name On Mouse Rollover

I'm working on board game which involved dragging different coloured squares onto an 8x8 square grid. I can't seem to figure out how to get the squares to drop onto whichever square the mouse releases it on.

I'm developing a Flash piece for a large format plasma (1360x765) and will be using embedded video clips within Flash. The final video clip I'll be embedding will be delivered on 10-bit 720x486 format (standard -not widescreen).. -does anyone have experience with using video that will need to be displayed in a larger format than what it is delivered in? I'm thinking the image quality will not look good at all.. -problem is, I can't test it without purchasing the *&$ video! $$$$$$...

Many of you will know that the removal of the movie clip specific undo is causing us enless hassles and this isn't one of those features that we just get used to, this is a serious workflow hindrance.

Retriving The "real" Time ?

i d/l a trial version of macromedia flash mx 2004 professional
.. the problem i faced in it was of writing the script .. part which was all n all in expert mode
and not normal mode
i havent tried macromedia flash mx 2004 cheaper version
if any one of u have tried it .. does it support writing script in normal mode ??
which package shud i invest my money on ..
