Hi,

i am a flash developer and doing work on action scripting currently...I NEED HELP!!
i am tring to make a wig trial studio tool where a user can upload his/her photograph and the system would allow user to drag/drop wig photos to be super-imposed on the user's own picture. i am giving move and resize options with the wig picture in m script, and i want to save the looks of a user when he/she finalises the location and placement of the wig image, over their own picture at run time.

the problem i am facing is that i am not able to write the correct script for saving the looks of users , along with the wig of their choice, for example, please have a look at www.clairol.com wig trial studio....i am actuall tring to duplicate this portal's functionality and i will be really gretful for any wise guiding comments which you fellows can give in this matter.

Saving Vars To Users HD.
How do save/load vars to the users HD. I know MX has a folder set up that stors them like cookies, but how does one access it.

Saving Users Drawing.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to save a drawing that a user draws on the screen using the flash mx drawing api? I imagine that this can be done by recordiing the points that a mouse moves to each frame, writting this information to a database, and retreaving/redrawubg it later, but I was wondering if there is any easier way in flash mx 2004? Is there a way to generate an image for example? or a separate swf?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saving Files To Users Desktop
Need to know how to point to a file that is on a cd that the flash movie is playing from and saving that file to the user's desktop without opening up the file in it's respective application.

Ex. using the get url command and pointing it to a pdf file automatically opens acrobat. Need it to save to desktop instead.

Saving Information To A Users Computer?
Hi, im looking at designing a website where the user can customise the look and feel quite heavily and am wanting to save the look for when they return. This is something i havent done before and was looking at the best way of doing it. Im using AS2 at the mo but if needed i could take the leap and start using AS3.

Could any settings also be saved on the server too?
Any tutorials/examples would be most appreciated

Saving And Recalling Users Actions
I basically need to know if the following scenario can be accomplished using flash and or additional technologies (e.g. XML). I'm creating a product demo for a client. The client wants the user to set a number of setting on this product and then save these setting to be recalled. Think of it as presets on you radio. Turn the dial (action 1 to be saved), set the volume (action 2 to be saved), then set the bass (action 3 to be saved), then press and hold the preset button. Now your settings are saved on preset number 1. The user can now press preset number 1 and experience all the effects (station, volume, and bass).

Can this be accomplished using flash? how would the settings be saved? Would they be written to another file XML? Finally, and this is the kicker, can this all happen if the demo is run off of a burned CD or thumb drive (both methods might be used for distribution)?

Hi all. I have finally found a Flash application on a website which gives you the option to save on the users hardrive. Would you need Zinc (the program) to do this. Or can you do this thing just using Flash?

Saving A File To The Users Hard Drive
Hi, I've searched the internet for answers, but have yet to find anything of value, so now I'm asking for help...

I'm building a Flash site, I'd like a button when clicked to bring up the save as window, (just like it would in a browser when a link is right clicked/save as)... so the user can save a jpg file to their hard drive.

How would I go about this?

hello, i have been looking around for ages to find out how to do this. it might not be possible but if it is then please help. so i want to be able to have a button in flash, and when pressed will open up the users hardrive folder and allow them to save it in some place like My Docs. or whatever. please someone help. thanks alot

License.Limit.Exceeded With 4x150 Users Licence And Only 300 Real Users
We have 4x150 users licence, set to unlimited bandwith.

We get these messages in event viewer:
Connection rejected by server. Reason : [ License.Limit.Exceeded ] : (_defaultRoot_, _defaultVHost_) : Max connections allowed exceeds license limit. Rejecting connection to : our_app_name/.

It appends a lot since the last few days, even before last update 2.0.3

At the same time, when we check the administration console, the number in the _defaultVhost is much lowe than 600, the maximum number of user that is allowed.

Licences are all OK in the administration console.

We have to restart the Flash server service to correct the problem.

Please help...

Need Mac-users & Alternative Browser Users To Test A Web Page...
Hello,

I am working on a site that uses a simple flash navigation (at the client's request) and I'd appreciate it if I could get some feedback from Mac users as well as PC users with alternative browsers (non-IE).

Specifically what I'm looking for is whether the flash works correctly and sits in the correct place (as opposed to appearing someplace it shouldn't) .You should also hear a subtle clinking sound when mousing over one of the main navigation links.

I've just found out that . . .
The pop-up window opens in IE5 under OS9.2 but the flash movie does not play correctly, just get a white screen with a grey border on the right and bottom - right-clicking shows that the flash player is loaded.

anyone encounted this b4? know how to fix it?

I've asked some people using Macs to test out the www.landersproductions.com and have said that it is running slow and/or it doens't even show up at all.

The same thing happened with www.lucrativedesign.com . Can Mac users or anybody please help me out.

Mac Users Help Me Out
Ok, so at the begining of my movie I have a preloader that loads the main movie, when that competes an emptyMovieClip is created and md_fadeBox.swf is loaded into it and another preloader for this is started. It all runs perfectly on the movie previewer and on the web...except on a Mac. On my PC I can refresh the page as many times as I want and it'll work perfectly everytime. On my Mac it works great the first time, but if I refresh the page after the main preloader is done it goes to the second preloader and it doesn't move and the percentage variable is = -2147 for some odd reason. The strange thing though is that there is a movie clip of a dog next to the preloader that isn't supposed to fade out until percetange > 99, but it plays anyways and fades out. Ahhh, this is making sense, it should work. Someone help me. Check it out online if you want....

Ive done a search on the boards to see if its possible to display a users IP address in a text field in flash but it wont let me search IP because its shorter than 3 characters.

Is it possible to grap the users IP address and display it in a text box at all ??

Hi on Aim instant messenger u can add a sub profile and when the other users click on it it records their screen name on the recent visitors. Im sure most of you know this.

Here Is what I want to do:

HELP - Att: Mac/IE Users
Very strange error in which I cannot replicate.

I am a PC user and have built this site for my client. It uses a flash header with nav menu and everything else is in html. When the client views the site in IE on their MACs and scrolls down, the banner starts to duplicate down the screen. (SS attached).

This ONLY happens on the MAC using IE. The IE version was 5.2. PC works fine and so does Netscape on MAC.

I actually stopped at an Apple Store and could not replicate this... help please...I need to go live asap! Thanks!!

MAC Users I Need Your Help
Hi, I'm having an issue with one of my clients. I use a PC and have created a portfolio for a client that uses MAC's. Everything works beautifly on my machine with every browser, firefox, IE, even netscape. However on her computer it acts very strange.

When you click on a link sometimes it takes two clicks to load the file, sometimes it doesn't. Often it will take you to a different movie entirely.

What I need is for you guys to poke around this site and see if you have some of the same problems.

The only specs I have on here computer are that she is running IE 5.1 for MAC's.

Has anyone had any issues that sound similar to this? I'm really stuck here and don't know what to do.

Oh by the way each link in the movie is basically a seperate swf that I load into a blank movie clip. Could this be the problem?

I've developed a flash site, but my client tells me it crashes his mac. I'm a pc user and have no way of testing this. The one friend I can think of who is a mac'r says the site works fine. My client isn't the most computer literate guy so I'm a bit suspicious. Please test my site for functionality.

Ok, I have this wierd problem where none of my websites can be viewed by macs. I have no idea why. I'm thinking there is a setting or preference somewhere (probably something real obvious I'm to dumb to see) that allows it to be viewed by PCs only. I'm guessing it's a setting on my computer becuase when I publish it from a mac at school then everything (macs and PCs) can view them. So what's the problem?

I am making a website in Flash where I need to connect it with my Access database to add email addresses. The scenario is that there will be a page which will have an input box, the User will write his email address in that Input box and will click submit. Now when the User clicks on the submit button the email address should be inserted in my database file. How Many Users On One T1
Hello, this is likely a simple question for anyone but me...but I haven't seen a clear answer after an hour of searching documentation.

I am looking to set up a FMS that will be connected to a T1 line. If during a live webcast the media encoder is set to upload the stream at about 450kbps, how many simultaneous users can we expect to serve at the maximum?

one of my clients has reported problems with a site www.bargazetas.com when viewed on safari on a mac. Unfortunately, i only have a PC here to view it on. It works fine on Netscape, firefox and IE. Could anyone have a look at it and see if there are any problems??
The project pages do load slightly slowly so give them a chance.

a client of ours sent us an email stating that my flash interfaces doesnt work on his box. He is using a Mac Power PC. We don't have that kind of box in my office and I have trouble getting my hands on one.

Would you guys please help and point your IE browser to www.bmxt.com then click on the test drive button. Please send me a snapshot of our website creation module (this module uses a lot of flash objects with ASP as server script).

I need a snap shot of the pages within this module from a Mac user's perspective. Pls give emphasis on the flash objects as my boss says this is the cause of trouble (he says that ASP and javascript scripts are consistent on any box as long as it uses IE).

Please send it to this email jeff@bmxt.com (a little note guys, my mail is only 3mb so please send your snapshot less than that. A 2mb snapshot wont clog up my drive since I download my mails every minute, but my email will discard mails with attachments above 3mb).

I have a loadvariable command to load a variable into a Perl script. What the client wants is for me to get the IP address of the end user. What is the AS to call up the end users IP?

when I try to view it from a Mac, it stalls on the preloader -- for some reason it's not processing the code to read the bytesLoaded or something. Is there something special that can be done to prevent this from happening?

Hi, i've always been an optimizing addict... Bein in asia, my clients and my client's audience are compose of mainly dial up users. And today, i gound out something with MX.

Although im not so sure if im doing something wrong here, but it's pretty clear that threre's something wrong.

So please help me if there's a known way out of this.

1) Create a new Flash Document.
- current size = 28 Bytes

2) add a dynamic multiline text field.
- current size = 96 Bytes

3) Attach a Scroll Bar (the default) from the Flash UI components, to the dynamic text field.
- current size = 6618 Bytes | 6 KB

---now watch closely---

4) Remove the Component Scroll Bar - DELETE it.. or even UNDO.
- CURRENT SIZE = 6570 Bytes | 6 KB

As you can see, even if you remove the scroll bar, somehow the size stays big.

WHY??????????????

-actualy, i've found a fix for this... but the above situation doesnt make sense.

Mac Users On Explorer 5.0
In Explorer 5.0 has anyone had a problem making javascript pop-up windows without scroll bars?
It leaves a white area where there the scroll bars live. I had the same problem on jamescover's Basic Popup Script page. It worked great with netscape but not in IE.

Is there a fix for this?

i wrote 187 flash movies.
2 different companies checked my job on MOZILLA/LINUX.
ugly! the DEVICE FONT "_sans" is not the same on their system.
characters are smaller and the space between 2 lines too. unreadable

So, i have to rewrite all.
before to do that, i'd like to be sure of the right "line spacing" I should use.

i wrote a little SWF (2Ko) with different "line spacing" texts with a snapshot image in order to compare them :

I have only just started using flash/dreamweaver....... I have made up a contact form in flash that posts to a CGI script. On the form itself I want to display the users IP address, this is to stop people abusing the form.

I have no problem using something like shtml to get the ip but I do not know how to pass that variable into flash or if there is an easier way just using action script itself

Simple question. Is it possible to make a flash file which will allow users to control a different "sprite" on the same board (i.e. multi player), bearing in mind that each player will have a view limited to them (a mask allowing them to see a circle around them only, nothing outside....like a fog of war). Possible?
