Scaling Control



In a animation I am working on, I want to scale a logo from 1% to way bigger than the work area to give the effect of flying through the logo. I am using a timeline tween to do the scaling ( ). As the logo starts to enlarge in goes quick, but as it gets much larger the scaling slows down, killing my "fly through" effect. I have tried the Ease in/out but it's not enough. How can I maintain the scaling speed (or increase it as the case may be) toward the end of the tween.

If you are going to suggest using a "scale =" action script solution, it would be great to see and example as action script is not my strong suit.

MC Scaling Control?
Is there a way to turn off the scaling of a Movie Clip? In other words, is there a way to set the clip so that when I change its size (with ActionScript), it's contents do not scale? PLEASE tell me this is possible...

How To Control Scaling Maximum Size
I'd like to control the maximum scaling of a move embedded in a web page. Using the publish settings of 100% and scaling set to show all, the movie resizes up and down just great, but I don't want it displaying any larger than 1020 pixels wide. If it scales up beyond that the images start to break up. Hopefully there is a simple html based method, rather than the action script event listener resize with if then else loops.

Mouse Control Of Scaling Movie Clip
Hello.. I am not giving up on asking this question. Hopefully these awesome forums will eventually come through with some advice for my puzzle.

I am trying to have a movie clip slowly scale up and be controlled by the position of the mouse. The problem I am having is that the clip is not bounded by the stage because I have it scaling up with a tween.

Can someone please, please help?

[MX04] Dynamic Scaling/brightness Control For VERY Large Raster Files
I am working on redesigning a small desktop program that involves showing very high resolution bitmap images at large sizes with the ability to zoom or alter the brightness of the image dynamically. I would like to try creating it in Flash but am displeased with how Flash handles the scaling of bitmap images at runtime. It looks like they need resampled in each frame, as they become very pixelated during scaling. Also, I am concerned that the large file sizes of these images might be a problem. This program is not meant to run over the internet but even on a desktop I foresee problems.

Does anyone have any advice for me or suggestions on how I might approach this? Or any suggestions of other programs or authoring environments I might use to do this? I first planned to use VB.NET but the client wanted a look very similar to a previous Flash presentation CD I produced for him which I don't think I can achieve with VB.NET with my skills.

No Resize/scaling A Movie Clip On The Scaling Stage...
I know this has probably been answered here already, but I've search through all the threads with "scaling" and "resizing" and can't find the solution.

Basically I have a GUI element on a gallery that I don't want to scale, while the rest of the page is free to resize/scale.

I think I need to add a listener of some sort to the stage, but I'm not sure how to do this. If you can point me to a thread where this has already been answered, great! Otherwise I would be grateful for any help you could provide here.

Scaling Images In Flash To The Scaling Of The Browser Window - Anyone?

Scaling Dynamic Textfield Without Scaling Font
the titel sys it...
if you create a dynamic textfield...you drag it but you can not see the prcise idth value...so lets say i have a field and the width is 198,5 and i want it to be 200...the problem is if you scale...the fonts also scale...any ideas...

[9-slice Scaling] Not Scaling At Correct Size ?

I found something strange with the 9-slice scaling option.
My MC with that option is simply smaller than the one without it !

Scaling Cursor/Scaling Draggable
Hello.

I am trying to create a draggable movie that will scale depending on it's _x and _y coordinates.

Basically, when the movie is on the lower part of the screen it will be larger than when it's on the top part of the screen.

I would like the scaling to be smooth. I can say, "if this clip is above 100, then reduce by 10%", but it looks poor.

Does anyone have a nicer way to achieve this draggable scaling?

Scaling/preloader..scaling To A Certain Size..
Hi gang...ok...I have a percentage preloader using getBytes.....and I have a preloader bar that increases dependant on the percentage of bytesloaded...what I want is to have the preloader bar scale so that when the percentage reaches 100% the loader bar will be a certain width.

Here is my code so far....please help me edit my exixsting code..and NOT start just re-write the whole thing..I am trying to learn..and incorporate.

Scaling Shapes Without Scaling Strokes
Hello, I am a new Flash user. I am creating a simple animation to be used in an educational video. I created a graphic symbol which I have tweened in many instances to fade in/out and to grow in size. This is a simple circle without a fill, starting out with a solid 5 pixel stroke. How can I grow this symbol (it ends up at least 4 times larger than its original size) without growing the stroke as well?

Scaling Vs. Non Scaling Of Loaded Clips
Hi there,

I am trying to achieve the loadmovie whereby my container flash movie (main.swf) is 100%x and 100%y scaled in the browser...ie so it's size is dynamic to the browser size (This is fine...know how to do)

But want to load the internal clip at exact dimensions - ie I guess a loadmovie in a target clip or level? with exact x and y size dimensions that always centres in the container flash clip. ie. its size is constant no matter the browser size.

Full Scaling Site + Scaling MC's
I have been trying to figure out how to do this, because I think it looks fantastic. I know that there are a number of things you add to the stage in order to get it to sit aligned right in the middle. I have even manged to ease the stage movements so that when you maximise and minimise by adding friction and acceleration, the movement is smoother and cleaner.

It looks like whatever is loaded into the MC expands and contracts the parent MC, with a border. The movement is seamless and I was wondering if anyone knows how to achieve the same effect.

I have gotten pretty far with it too, but I am momentarily clueless as to this part.

Scaling And Not Scaling In One Movie
Hi!

I´m creating a movie in witch I want curtain ellements (vector images) to scale to 100% of

the users screen and other ellements (pixel images) to stay at a fixed size and position.

Take a look at the following site:

When you scale the browser window, the background photo scales with it; it stays fullscreen.

However, the menu stays at its original size.

The effect is possible without using html layers (see source of www.hi-res.net). Anyone

knows how to make this work within 1 swf through actionscripting?

Achieve Scaling After Scaling
The situation:
I have a header frame that could possible be a 1024 pixels, 800 pixels, etc, etc in width depending on the users resolution. Now, I want my flash file to span accross this space 100% which can easily be done in flash/html.

The problem that I have is that I don’t want the height to change and I don’t want anything distorting inside the flash file itself as an image would. I would like the flash interface to scale in the same way html does.

If you left align something, I want it to be at the far left with no change in actual size.

I have seen this done before with scrolling panes but can’t seem to find information on it anymore.

Any help would be appreciated

Sound Control With Pause Button As Well As Timeline Control
Hi there

I have a flash page, with a ambient track playing. I added a pause and play button. So you press the button then it stops, then you press it again then it plays...

So now i want to make it so that if you go to the 'WORK' page on the site, wich is on its own frame, and wich has different buttons linking to it, then i want the sound to switch off when i am on the work page as well.
So if the background ambient music plays, and you go to work then the sound switches off. Untill you switch it back on again
How is the best way for me to do that?

How Can I Control A Swf File Via RF Remote Control, Ala Powerpoint?
I have a Mac laptop and Honeywell RF remote that will control Powerpoint presentations. I'd rather make the presentations in Flash. The remote has three functions: last slide, next slide and blank screen. I have no idea what signals the remote sends for Powerpoint to read, but it must be pretty standard.

Does anyone know a way to code Flash so that it will respond to these commands the same as Powerpoint does... or is this a lost cause?

Actionscript Control Then Tweening Control
Ok Flashers, this should be an easy one -

I've animated some movieclips using some embedded MC that are solely actionscript animation routines. Is there a way to now animate that same MC on the timeline using tweening?

It seems that the embedded MC overrides the tweening I place on the timeline, even if I park the embedded MC.

I wonder have you ever had to ask Flash/Flex to control the remote clicker(pointer) buttons using a Front Projection screen ???

Game Control Panel --> How2make Object Appear In Control Once Discovered In Game
Hey all you flashies,
here's a problem to scramble the flash nerves. I'm creating a game for my Major project and I want to have a control panel at the bottom. The aim of the game in brief, is to collect 6 pieces of fruit (just an example). These 6 pieces of fruit will be found in different order depending on which route the player takes in the game. What I want to happen is each time the player finds a fruit, I want it to appear in the control panel. How do I go about doing this? Can anyone help? Much appreciated! If anyone has an example to something similar to this it would be much appreciated if I could see it! thanks!

Mouse Control, Out Of Control
I'm working on a Splash screen for a web site.located here I found a bit flash 5 code that is running the "moving images". The problem is that when the mouse is moved left or right from the center too much, the speed of the images goes way to fast.
I am using MX 04 to build this, but I have always used tweens, so I'm a total noob to AS.
What I need is way to limit the speed of the movie clip as the mouse moves away from center. Or limit the area that the mouse can use to effect the movie clip.

SWF Control Via Standard Control Bar
We would like to control the playback of SWF movie much like you would a FLV via a standard media control bar. The pre built controls in Flash work well with video FLVs but do not work with SWFs. It is important for our core content files to remain as SWFs as they are true vector animations with an MP3 sound track which we would like our users to be able to pause, start, scan, control volume, etc. Rendering them as FLVs causes a lot of file bloat and the compression is not kind to large areas of flat field color, etc.

These SWFs are prebuilt and exist as separate elements imported into our Flash Project.

So, is it possible to control a SWF as such?

Are there pre built elements for sale anywhere on line so we would not have to build the control code and interface art from scratch?

How difficult would this be to code from scratch if necessary?

Control 2 Videos With One Control Bar
I am trying to figure out how to make a video skin that will play two videos at once with one controller. I have a recorded PowerPoint and a video of the speaker that are synced and need to play together. Any suggestions?

Scaling
I have a zoom out button with the following ActionScript

Which causes the movie .comic to reduce in size every time it is pressed. However, if the button is pressed too many times, the .comic movie inverts itself, and is shown upside down. What ActionScript can I add to stop this from happening? Some kind of If statement should do it, but I spent 3 hours last night trying to find a solution without any luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, hope someone can help, an easy question really!

I created a box, deleted it's guts so I'm just left with the outline and made the box 1 pixel by 1 pixel. Then I made the box into a graphic.

Now I want to scale the box, and using motion tween make the box appear to grow before text appears in it.

Problem - when I scale the box to 600 pixels by 300 pixels, the box does not grow, the outline of the box simply expands to the pixel size that I set and I'm left with a thick line

Does this mean that the only way to scale a 'box' is to use a shape tween?

I am trying to make a movie clip (box) scale down to 0% then when it gets to that 0% i want it to scale back up to 100%. This action will occur when i click on a button that is in that movie clip. So here is what I tried:

Scaling W/ AS Please Help
I am trying to make a map that can be made larger or smaller by clicking a plus or minus button (or in my dreams with a sliding button), and I am having trouble... can this be accomplishe w/ Action Script? I am able to make the button shrink the map object or enlarge it one time but I want the value of the map to change every time the button is pushed... If the map starts at 100% and the "+" is pushed and ads 20% or scales to 120% then I want the new state of the map objct to become 100% again and if you push "=" again it ads another 20% or then is 140% or actually a tad higher (I know that the math here is wrong), than the start state of the map object. Belog is the code...

Box Scaling
Hi, n00b here.

I want to have a box fade in as a small line, then stretch vertically to a certian size and then stretch horizontally to a certian size. How can I do this?

I have a mc I want to load into a swf. The mc dimensions are 800 x 600. I want to load it into a 400 x 300 frame. How do I scale it? I'm loading the mc into a blank mc using the loadMovie action:
loadMovie ("demo.swf", movieShell);

I know it's got to be an _xcale/_yscale thing, but I don't know what the code should be. (setProperty? with?).

Better Way For Scaling?
I have been messing around...and this code does what it is supposed to...but to me it seems like there should be a better way?...or different.... anyone care to share?

I was just trying to scale an MC either 'X' or 'Y'..here I used X_scale

seems like 400 is a lot....but it doesnt even go fast until around there....and my frame rate is high enough.

HI,

I have a movie clip. I want it to scale up when my mouse rolls over it and I want it to scale down when my mouse rolls out.

How can I achieve this, and what do I need for actionscripting. I tried every combination of tweening and trying to assign actions to the mc, but I don't have the roll over and roll out possibilities in the "on" choice.

So, if you have basic knowledge of AS, you should see that the movie that is suppose to load is going to be 500x200 pixels and the movie must be called "movie1.swf"

Now, Its very weird, download the Fla and look at it!
don't forget to make a extra movie called movie1.swf with a size of 500x200pixels!

It would handy if you add a extra button that when you press the second button the current movieclip removes

I am trying to create a outline of a box that will scale to differnet sizes depending on what button is pushed. For ex: press button 1 and it scales from it's default size to 120 X 300, push button 2 and it scales from the previous size to 400 X 300. These sizes are just examples. I not to sure how I would go about starting something like this so some ideas would be helpful.

Can anyone help? Trying to work somethin out, and its not going too well!
I have 5 movieClips evenly spaced along the bottom of the stage. These clips also double up as buttons When you enter the frame MC1 is at 100% while the other 4 are at 30%. What I am trying to figure out is when the user clicks of (for example) MC3, MC3 grows to 100%, MC1 shrinks down to 30% and the other clips slide along to maintain their even spacing. How can I set this up so that the movie knows which clip is at 100% when any of the buttons are clicked and so shrinks the 100% clip and moves the others accordingly?
Please help someone!!!!!

can anyone gimme a lesson on scaling a box?

here's the scenario:

i want to just have the box start out REALLLLLL small, and then have it grow into a big one. Can any one help with this? i tried on my own, but i can't get it, and when i get the scaling part done, the sides of the box grow thicker and thicker and i don't want that. so just a tutorial from the start will be good! thanx

i dont know if this has anything to do with flash but maybe someone can answer my question anyway, how do i scale a picture down to a thumbnail and when a user clicks it it enlarges the picture. oh by the by does anyone know how much is a decent price to pay someoone to design a website, cuz theres a company thats charging us close to $10,000 to build our site. is that normal, is there anything cheaper?

hi.

i've got a placeholder movie clip that resizes based on the dimensions of the external movie being loaded in. i've also got a mask which does the same thing.

but....i have a navigation movie clip inside this placeholder because i want it to always hang out in the lower left corner of the placeholder as it resizes. but i don't want it to resize itself.

how do i go about this, please?

Scaling Help... Please
Okay, so i am making a project that uses fscommand to go full screen. The projector is basically a black blackground with a yellow box for a stage. I have a movie i load called sports, which i set so it does not scale or stretch. The problem is when i load that movie the whole stage unscales. That might not be clear.

The main movie is full screen being scales --> then i load the "unscalable movie" --> the entire project unscales.

I want to keep the movie from unscaling when my movies load.

Scaling A Mc
Hi!

I have a main flash in which i dynamically load in other swf:s. I wan´t to be able to scale the dynamicallay loaded swf:s up and down. In other words i want to make them bigger and smaller.

The purpose in which i want to use it is for placing logotypes on clothes. I have made it so that i now can drag the logotype over the clothes but i also want to scale the swf:s.

Does anyone have any idea och solution to this.

The problem now is that the loaded clip is scaled to offcourse
so my question is:
Is it possible to set the loaded clip to it's natural size
after loaded, but still keep the parent scaled?

Scaling Box...
Alright, I've been having problems with scaling a container movie clip.

The situation is this:

The container is centered on my stage, within it, I have a 'sizer' MC, this is so that the container has a fixed size while it's empty. Now, suppose that the bottom of the container rests on y = -150 and the top rests at y = 0. This container is 150px high.

When I use the new MX2004 function onEaseInOut to scale the height of the container to 200px, instead of scaling towards y = -175 for the bottom and y = 25 for the top, it scales to y = -150 for the bottom and y = 50 for the top.

This causes an offset with the rest of the layout, and just plain looks bad.

If anyone know's how to fix this, please let me know.

If I don't get any leads, I may just resolve to scale a dummy MC instead, and have the container base it's positioning off the dummy.

(PS: the control point of the container is centered)
