Search Engines And Flash
If we have flash movie for a site and go flash for all it's probable that well have two or maybe three .htm's right? the index maybe a detector and maybe one or two results page or info page with redirection.
Does this mean that it's less possible for search engines to find our site?
Any quick tips on the subject?

Search Engines And Flash
Okay,
Just about every search engine out there doesn't recognize Flash content. So what if you have a site totally designed in Flash? What then? Are there any ways to increase search engine ranking without cheating (like using hidden HTML text, etc...)?
Any suggestions/ideas?
Thanks!!
Flash And Search Engines
I recently swiched my site from html to flash and noticed that I don't get nearly as many hits as I used to. Can a search engine such as google search into my site? Would it help if my text was loaded into flash from a seperate file instead of just being in the .swf?
I am using meta tags now... does anyone have any suggestions on how else to get search engines to list my site?
thanks,

People say the reason for not making an entirely flash web site is because the search engines won't be able to read the content.
Is there ways to fix that.
I was thinking that if you incorperated text bellow the swf file describing all key points of its content. Then use Java to size the browser window to fit the swf
In that instance would the search engines still be able to find the text. If so would that not solve the problem of Flash and search engines?
Just curious

Flash And Search Engines?
I am redesigning my website. However, it's primarily all in flash. I think I heard somewhere that if you do a sight totally in flash, the search engines will have a hard time picking up my name. I forget the reason. Is this true? If so, how can I make sure my flash website can be seen?
Thanks
Flash And Search Engines?
I heard recently that flash sites are hard to find when using search engines. I am not very familliar with this side of things. What and where do search engines like google look for?
I suppose that an ENTER html page (you know the ones, with get flash player, screen resolution recommendations etc) perhaps some information could be put on that page to help it get found?
What are your thoughts on this? Have you built a flash site and figured a way around this problem?
Thanks.

Flash And Search Engines
Been looking through the posts re Flash and how search engines read the movies and theyre all a bit old so would like to pose a few questions:
Can search engines now read the text in flash movies?
Ive heard that since the swf format became public domain that search engines can now read the text in them (and Im not just talking about the Publish settings in the html)
If they can, how does the SEs rate the content? Similar to plain html or are there restrictions? How Google rates it is the main interest.
Any info would be great
Flash In Search Engines
How to get Flash text indexed and searchable, that is the question. Is there any way besides Meta, and the ghetto way I do it?
The way I do it is to make an HTML page that mirrors your text in Flash, then also have an invisible movie that will send them to your actual Flash site. Then if a person finds your HTML pages in a search engine they will go strait to the Flash page. It works but its kind of cheap.
Does anyone else have a way they do it. Server-side and Flash? Hidden text on the Flash embeder? HTML coated text box? There has to be an easy way!
Thanks
Flash And Search Engines
A question about how search engines read Flash.
When publishing a flash movie to .html, the text is written into the .html for search engines, correct?
I have tried to search for different pieces of text nearly three months after uploading, but have only had success when searching for the "main title" of each page, not the bodt text.
Anybody a pro at search engines and what they are actually "reading" these days?
Flash And Search Engines?
i recently read this article ( http://www.sitepoint.com/article/ac...flash-parts-1-2 ) on helping search engines to read whats inside your flash website. the reason i am posting this is on the forst past of that article he states he setup his flash site using MySQL and PHP. i was curious if someone could help me understand how he did that? i am somewhat familar with MySQL and PHP but do not have exstensive knowledge. i would be very greatful if someone could help me out with this.
thank you, mike

Search Engines And Flash
hello
i have conducted a full reserach on the topic of how to make my flash site viewed by search engines. I came out with two main solution:
1. using css and 'z order'.
2. using agent detection, detecting that an agent is reading my site, and displaying html text only.
so which one is better?
Is one of the solutions illigal by google and such and will be blocked?
does some one actuly uses this methods?
is there a better one?
:-)

Search Engines And Flash
It seems to me that search engines have a tough time with my flash movie. I would do a test search and the only thing a spider would detect is what is on the idex page, on mine http://www.tsigold.com it does see the EBAY link and my site counter, all which is on the html index. Can I copy and paste onto the index page a way the search engines will detect the keywords I use on my index.
Search Engines And Flash
Hi there,
I hope somebody can enlighten me on the subject of search engines and flash... I read some stuff that google can now search text in your .swf... how about linked swfs?
Is there any smart way to make a flash site available for search engines to find? Or do I have to make one .html site and one flash site? Which doubles update work...
Hope you can help...
Greetings,

Flash And The Search Engines
I have been testing my flash files with the Macromedia SDK tool to see how search engines will read my text and links. It worked fine with static text, but once I brought in a textarea and applied and XML file to populate the textarea with text, the SDK output was blank. It clearly states in the read me file for the SDK:
Text
By default, swf2html extracts the following text:
text on stage in the current movie (dynamic text, static text, or input text that has an initial value assigned)
text on stage in a movie that is called with movieClip.attachMovie()
Does anyone know if their is somthing specific I need to do either in the SDK protocall in DOS or in the FLA file itself to allow SDK to read my XML data. I know the XML works, as it appears fine in the actaul .SWF file.
Any help would be Greatly Appriciated!
Flash And Search Engines
I know it's difficult for search engines to crawl flash sites. Does anyone have any advice on how to get around this besides creating an alternate HTML page?
Flash And Search Engines | Do They Mix?
Hi people,
Just looking for a few quick thoughts on the subject. I do a little web design in the place that i work but it's always highly optimised for search engines etc. Personally i've always had a great affection for Flash and enjoyed tinkering around with it but never really considered it as an alternative solution for developing a website. In recent months i've seen some really great websites that seem to be completely in flash which look really great. So my question is, is it fine to use flash to build a complete website, and if using flash how does it work with search engines? can they be picked up as well as a basic web files?
Cheers - Dave.
[F8] Search Engines And Flash
I prefer to use Flash. I always place each swf in its own html page so the viewer can use the back buttons. I also put keywords in the head. However, I was told that search engines use content in the body much more to rank sites. How can I get a search engine to recognise and list my flash sites? I thought of putting a content paragraph in html behind the swf so it was hidden from the viewer. But I heard that search engines disqualify a site if it has hidden html. Is there any way around this? Thanks

Search Engines & Flash
Till now i've been making sites with content that has been dynamically loading in text from text files. Can i do the same from .html files?
The possibility i'm looking into is that i want my metatag keywords to be reflected in my content.
See, this is the question that drives me: ()
How can you effectively position flash sites in search engines? Is it possible at all?
What kind of techniques work really well?
Thx in advance for any advice/suggestions/info!
Flash In Search Engines
Hey ppl.
I have a annoying friend who runs professional web/ecommerce company. Now ive been creating a web site in flash. Its a major clothing site which is a very big site - right now its half complete and its over 20 swf`s, il also have a database and some middleware to make it more efficient futher into development.
the site follows the one html page (index.html) n then the flash site launches style.
Ok my problems start everytime i talk to him. He says that there are major problems submitting flash sites to search engines - in particular google. He made technical terms something with the words meta-tags (which i think i know about) and then more importantly cloaking - something which he says after time can get me removed from searches such as google. cant remember the rest of his long list. Does n e one know n e thing about the subject?
eventually i would like to see my site in the top 10 rankings which is very important to me. so i need to know about this!!
Also where could i find more details on this stuff cause ive realised studying all these books ive never dealt with these issues.
so can we dicuss this problem n if possible get a solution so i can shut him up!!!

Flash And Search Engines
I know this has probably been discussed a million times but I searched and I actually felt more confused than before.
My flash file has all it's text converted to graphic symbols. I've read that Meta Tags are dead. I only use dreamweaver to center my site and change my title.
What's the best way to get a high ranking in search engines when your site is completely flash?

Flash And Search Engines
Hello
how is it best to ensure that our Flash sites are available in search engines ?
i have done a site and placed it all in a Dreamweaver table, so that it is html. it registers with google etc no problem.
this time, im a bit stuck : i want to have a background that fills the entire screen and that i can (perhaps) move around. im lost as to how to interface DW with Flash in order to make sure that my project (or atleast the background) fills the screen.
i would prefer this time round to just FTP my files straight from Flash to the server. i want to do this so that what i see on my stage is what i will get on the browser. or am i wrong again ? maybe i just need to learn how to integrate Flash and DW better ?
-thanks

Hello all,
I just read that if you don't compress your movie, all static text can be read by search engines.

Flash And Search Engines
Hi,
I wasn't sure which forum to direct this enquiry to??
I have submitted 2 flash sites to Google and Yahoo a few times over a period of about 4 months and they are not picking them up.I have heard of issues with spiders/bots(??) not being able to see Flash sites.Does anyone know anything about this or where I can find info (Lycos,Altavista and some others picked these sites up just fine)
The clients are understandably peeved that their sites are not showing in the 2 most used search facilities.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Flash & Search Engines
Hi People. I am new to the Sitepoint forum, having only just ordered my copy of Flash Anthology, (not even yet delivered) as I am thinking that I would like to progress from creating web sites with html and css, to creating, initially, visually appealing sites with Flash and, eventually, sites using forms made in Flash pages that access php and mysql backends, BUT, I'm wondering how the search engine bots will locate my content if it's all in a .swf file stuck in, at best, a css container with maybe a few text links.
Anyone got any leads on seo for flash sites.

Flash And Search Engines
Hi,
I heard that there is a way to embed something called crumbs in flash so that it can be read by search engines. Is this possible? I am also hoping to find a way to be able to track where visitors are going within the flash site. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

Flash And Search Engines?
hi,
i'm using flash mx 2004 pro and have created a site that is mostly flash content with 3 html pages. there is searchable data that is embedded in the html but it's not enough to compete on thelevel we'd like to. is there any way to get more searchable data inside the flash content without totally revamping the site? we're thinking about adding more html pages with searchable content but i'm just curious if there is a way to do this directly in flash. would dynamic text in flash making use of potential key search words work? or is there any tips or tricks out there that can enlighten me?? any insights would be much appreciated.
thanks!
Flash And Search Engines
I'm currently involved in a large scope project of buiding a site that uses all the techniques of Search Engine Optimization to produce the best rankings.
The more I learn about it the more it appears to me that Flash sites cannot be SEO'd. SEO is very important as it can make or break an online business. After all it doesn't matter how great your site is in terms of design, features, content, services you offer, etc if no one can find it.
I'm interested in how the top flash designers tackle this issue if at all. At this point I would say that from what I now know about both Flash and SEO no small business that does not have a well established name (those are exceptions because people would usually type the direct URL to reach them) should consider building the site in Flash only. If they do they will be out of business because no one would ever find their website.
Since I love Flash I would like to be convinced otherwise.
Flash And Search Engines
Ok, I am currently in production on my first Flash website and I have soooo many questions. I am curious about what is the common feeling about Flash and search engines. From what I understand, search engines don't recognize Flash, so search reanking can suffer a bit.
I am designing this site:
http://www.settlementonehosting.com/...esign1.5.1.jpg
and I was thinking I would do the whole thing in Flash. Is that something that may be a bad idea? I have a feeling the file size may be a bit large. Would I be ok if I used a pre-loader?
I want to make sure the site will have placement in search engines while maintaining the design I have in mind.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Flash And Search Engines
Does anyone have any advise on how to get better rankings in search engines when your site is in flash? I am using meta tags now but don't know if there is anything else that you can do. I was told that search engines cannot read into your swf file for text the way they do for html. Is this true? Would it help if I loaded the text into the swf from another file?
any suggestions/advice?
thanks

Flash & Search Engines
i have a flash intro that refreshes on to my homepage onces it's through, and i've figured that that does not help the search engines, as the crawler will not find any links to move on to the next page. My question is: is there a special tag that i need to put in the <object> tags to help the crawler?
Thanks.
Flash 5 Movies And Search Engines ?
i was wondering how search engines handle flash movies. i've created a couple sites entirely in flash 5 and i am about to submit them to some search engines. i worried that the search engines cannont index the page properly as is ( such as text, links, etc) and that the search engines may treat the movie as an image and thus skip any text or links in my movie. is there something i need to do to help search engines index the flash movies better to get better search results on my pages. i've noticed if i view source of flash movie, it has a section "links used in movies" and "text used in movies" (both these sections are blank right now). is this where i add additional keywords etc? i know how to add keywords etc to the html page, but the html page is just blank, so any text or links will not be seen by search engines?? correct?
any help on this would be greatly appreciated
Flash & Search Engines...just Use A Site Map?
I have a flash site that resides on only one page and want to boost it a little for search engines. Besides using meta tags, what else can you do to improve rankings on search engines?
If I create a html link to a site map at the bottom of the page...with html links to just the text from all flash pages...will this improve rankings? Assumingly this will allow SE's to spider the text that resides within the flash.
But, will this direct links to the sitemap rather than the homepage?
thanks

Flash Detection And Search Engines
Hi,
I'm struggling to get to grips with Flash detection and in my research, it appears using a flash detection page can affect search engine rankings.
I have also read Flash detection may be classed as cloaking.
Can anyone comment on this or advise me?
TIA,
Nosmo
