Flash :: Search Tutorial (multiple Images & Mask Effect)

Multiple Mask Clip Effect
Hello,

Trying to create multiple masked objects/clips to mask an image.
Dispite attempts to duplicate the masking object, only one masked object appear(the first one), the rest appear but have no masking effect on the image.
Any help would be greratly appreciated.

Timeline Effect Same Effect Multiple Images Layout
I'm trying to use the timeline effect on some transparent .png or gif file's...
All I want to do is create say a 100 frame effect... have it fade in at the beginning and out at the end for .png 1.
Then be able to re-use the effect without having to step back through the timeline effects creator dialogue for .png 2 and so on...
In other words I want to create multiple movie clips all w/ the same animation timeline... and then have them easy to edit on the main timeline maybe overlapping a little etc.
Also the client will probably want to tinker w/ adding new images and suggesting which one's should go first in the fade in and out string of animation's which take place simply one at a time on the stage.
Here's a basic link for what I've got.... the machine images should be easily changed maybe even loaded as a seperate .swf or something:

The main priority being the main movie timeline should be easy to edit w/ the movieclips... this is prolly a newbie question, but I'm having trouble keeping this simple, for editing in the long run...

The search query seems case sensitive. How to make it accept upper and lower case characters. Actually i'm trying to make a search by myself by using the same code.

Fog Or Mist Tutorial Search.
I have a jpeg of an old map that I'm using for a background in a flash movie. I'd like to juice it up a bit with some kind of random lightly billowing fog or mist scrolling from left to right. I've searched the forums and tutorials here since yesterday and I've found some nice smoke tutes but nothing dealing with a random left to right scroller.

Would I be best off using movieclips of some light cloud patterns in various degrees of transparency or is there some open source actionscript out there that will apply this effect for me?

Search Engine Tutorial

I went through it using Flash 5 and an Access database on a stand alone machine, but I can't get it to work.

Some parts of it I don't fully understand, like the bit where it tells you to create a symbol called 'ButtonClip'. It doesn't tell you what type of symbol to make it (I think it might mean an MC, but on one of the pictures the actions have on release which obviously an MC can't have).

Anyway, if anyone can get this to work, can they point me in the direction of a different tutorial.

Aw yeah, last thing, I'm using Windows 98, so it would be helpful if you also said how to do the ODBC. I thought mine was set up alright but who knows...

Tutorial Search For Movie Clip

Atomz Search Tutorial By Kirupa
Does anyone know if the atomz search engine will work on an executable? That is, on a flash project that is made into a stand alone CD project and not loaded on the web?

Atomz Search Tutorial Problem
I am trying to use the atomz search engine tutorial to add a search field within my flash movie.

When I upload the file and test, it does not connect to the atomz search engine and shows a 'Page not found' error.

Also, when this happens the url shown in the address box is as if a link is trying to be made to a page on my site instead of the atomz site.

The actionscript as shown in the tute is (this is attached to the 'GO' button within the movie):

Search Xml For Multiple Keywords
I have a problem with searching xml data. I completed the xml in flash tutorial here at kirupa, and made my searches like this one.
My question is: how can I search for multiple keywords from an array? Repeating the search for each piece of the array? How?

Help With Unique Random Images - Multiple Images At A Time
Ok so what i would like to do is set up a page that has 36 images on it. But every time anyone goes to the site i want them to show up in random order. I have jpgs they are all labeled 1.jpg, 2.jpg 3.jpg and so on. I have used code that pulls the images form a folder that the swf isnt in like /images/1.jpg. So what im saying is i want to pull them externally. Any one have any ideas on how to do this?

So what happens now is that many images get attached at once and they are all loading at the same time.

What I'd like to do instead is to have them load one at a time. The first pass through the for loop attaches an image and then it loads, but it doesn't move on to the next image until the first one is done loading. Is that possible?

Or maybe is it better to let them load all at once? I just think that when the image count is very large it will really bog down loading so many images at once and it might be best to load one at a time. Please advise.

Search Multiple Fields For Match
I have a dataset which filters my XML results according to category. I'm trying to get it to evaluate more than one field, but can't figure out how.

The code below works to filter on the first <category>, but won't touch the second. I've also tried naming them <cat1> and <cat2>, then adding both fields to the sort, and adding a second "return" at the end of the script assigned to cat2, but that doesn't work either - still only searches cat1.

Any help would be appreciated!

Search Function For Multiple Movies In CD Rom
hi,
I was just wondering if anyone knows how to do a search function accross multimple swf movies in a cd rom.

The situation is like this: i m making an elearning project where i have around 17 to 18 chapters. Now, all the chapters are in flash and they are seperate movies.

Now, if someone wants to search for something inside the cd, like say, they are searching for "entertica" then all the pages that is related to that word should show up.. like google search.

may i know if anyone has any idea on this? thanks a lot. =D

Is there a way to search multiple documents from Flash? I have a whole bunch of DOC files that I can either make to PDF or FlashPaper documents.

Multiple Page Search Results

I am busy working on a results page. What it does is to collect data from a php qeury via AMFPHP. And dynamicly creates 12 text fields per page with the results. The data that comes in comes from an array.
I then need to create the next/previous page buttons plus the number of pages for the results. (Kind of like the google results pages)
"noPage" is a value that i worked out earlier in the script. It is the no of item in the array devided by 12
"volumesLoop(i,a,n,x,y,d);" is a call to a function that writes the 12 bits of info

So at the moment this script creates an empty movieclip (canvas_mc) and the a text field and it puts a vlue of a page in the text field and then creates the next movie clip with the next page number and so on until the pageVal===NoPages.
If you click on a page number to go to the results it then wipes all the current info of the frame and is suppose to write the next lot of movieclips in its place.

My problem comes in with the linking the page no. movieclip to the correct number in the array. For example if someone clicks on page 2 a should = 12 if you click on page 4 a should = 36 and so on.
Can anyone offer advice on how to do this?

How Can I Load, Multiple Images Into Multiple Key Frames At Once..
Hey guys, I have this..pseudo 3d model viewer for my site that I am working on. The only problem is, I don't want to manually add every image to the flash...especially if I have 45 images or so and I am pretty sure there is no way to automate this in actionscript..

this is a pretty crude example but it shows you what I am aiming for. I just wanted to know if there was an easier way to add images to frames or if there was a program to do it for you.

Tutorial Suggestions For Mouse Trailer With Mask?
The end product I would like to have is a mouse trailer that leaves behind a color (randomized, solid, and rainbow, haven't decided yet) but that also alphas out after a few seconds in a smooth trailing motion.

I believe in order to create this effect I would have to create a mouse trailer that utilizes a mask that follows it. Does anyone have any pointers for this? And if this is the correct technique?

Flash Layer Mask Tutorial Using IRobot
Hey, I don't know if anyone here can help me, but I saw this really cool tutorial of a Flash layer mask using a picture a robot from iRobot on the internet about a month ago, but now I can't find it The tutorial was using a layer mask to simulate energy or light passing by the robot. It used a white bar passing up verticly on the photo, and a layer mask to restrict where the white bar was visible. It was a really simple, yet cool effect. How To Apply A Mask On Fading Grid(from Tutorial)

I thought the fading grid effect in the tutorial looked cool, so I applied my own image and the effect look great, but I want the animation to show inside a circle. Applying a mask didnt seem to work, so how is this done?

Maybe I made a mistake when making the mask, Im a big newbie to flash and especially actionscript.
