Server Issues? Plays Locally But Not On Webserver?

I have a strange problem. I am doing some simple flash video embedding using code I have used may times and it wont work on the server we are using for some reason.

Here is the page http://bc.3dinternet.com/intro/Intro.html (I embeded the swf using both javascript and then an <object> tag just to see if either would work).

It is putting the file http://bc.3dinternet.com/intro/Intro.swf into the page which as you can see is there. It just doesn't seem to load the FLA file (which is there http://bc.3dinternet.com/intro/Intro.flv).

has anyone else had this problem?

Embeded Flash Plays Fine Locally, But Only Partly Off Server
We are currently building a test version of a site and have added a couple .swf's. One is an xml-slide-show and another is a series of rotating quotes also using xml. If one looks at the home page of the demo,...

http://www.talkingboxmedia.com/demo/SWW-Final-C3/index.htm

you can see both players working fine at the bottom.

However,....if one either navigates to the ABOUT page,...or

http://www.talkingboxmedia.com/demo/SWW-Final-C3/about/about.htm

you'll notice two blank spaces where the code for the players is embeded,..but they do not show up... The weird thing is that they play fine locally from this page,...and that other pages,..like the ABOUT-History page which are at the same folder level as ABOUT,...also show the content....

If anyone has any ideas why the flash content dissapears only on the server,.and only on the ABOUT-page,...i'd be very curious to hear your thoughts....

FLVPLAYBACK Works Locally But Not On Webserver
Okay this is the problem. I follow the tutorial in macromedia flash 8 and locally the flvplayback (steelallover.swf) displays but when I upload the .flv, the .swf and the steelallover.swf to the website the flvplayback control does not display over the movie. I've been going round in circles with this one for a while ... anyone got a fix for this?

Additional info:
the html calling the movie.swf is in a different folder from where the .flv and the .swf are uploaded.
the .flv and the .swf and the steelallover.swf are in the same folder.

When tested locally all the html, .flv, and .swf are in the same folder.

Help Movie Loads Fine Locally, Not At All On Webserver
I've created a (fairly simple) Flash animation. When I publish to D: and open file://D:index.html in the browser, it shows up perfectly.

When I upload the files to the server and go to http://<server_address>/index.html all I get is a box of whatever color I've set for the <PARAM NAME="bgcolor"> tag. Right-clicking the box brings up a (very abbreviated) Flash menu (two entries -- a greyed-out "Move not loaded..." and an "About Macromedia Flash Player" or something along those lines.)

It appears to be a server problem (I change the <PARAM NAME="movie"> tag to point to a random flash file on someone else's server and it works just fine. I download said Flash file to my server and it doesn't work).

MIME Types are set correctly. (According to Macromedia they shouldn't matter when we're using IE and ActiveX anyway, as it's the classid that tells IE what ActiveX control to use.) I can't think of anything else it might be.

The server is Apache 1.3.23 on RedHat 7.3.

Any ideas?

Published HTML Works Locally, But Not From The Webserver
Hi there all,
Can anyone suggest why my site might work on my local machine but when I upload it to my serverspace and then go to it with IE I just get a white (blank screen) The file is there ok, and IE is getting the code because you can see it with view source, and I also get the 'click to activate this control' or whatever standard Flash message when I hover over it, but no content??
Something to do with Macromedia settings manager maybe? I have looked but can't figure out the answer...any hints would be greatly appreciated..

.swf Running Locally - Loading Txt File Variables Off Webserver
Hi Guys,

hoping someone can help with a small problem.

I am trying to load variables stored in a text file which sits on my webserver into the .swf which is running locally.

the whole thing works fine when telling the .swf to pull the variables from an identical local text file, when telling it to pull them from the server i get nothing.

however, when i cntrl+enter within flash to export it works fine - when i minimise flash and run the .swf that has just been created i'm back to getting nothing again.

Have also tried opening the .swf with i.e. but still no joy.

Any ideas??

Hope my description is clear enough!!

Detect If Swf Plays Locally Or Off The Web
i need to place a action in my swf that detects if the swf if playing locally or from the web. i've done this before but lost my fla and the swf are protected from imported so i'm at ground zero again!

I'm trying to protect some of my content and am well aware that if someone wants to have it, they can get it either way. that's fine, this is just a deterrent for this who can't figure it out.

i'd like for it to detect if it is local and if it is, I don't want it to play. if it's online, then it should play no problem.

this is what i have but it's not working:

if(_url.index0("http://www.url")){
gotoAndPlay ("scene2"1",1);
}else{
gotoAndPlay ("scene3",1);
}

Flash Audio Only Plays Locally
I have a flash movie that is supposed to play audio when a button is clicked. It works when I have the file on my local machine (But the sound is faint) but when I upload it to run live the sound won't play. Both the swf and audio file are in the same directory on the server. Any thoughts? You can see this at www.aquinasandmore.com. Refresh until you get the cd "cube".

Upgraded Webserver To 'SSL' Secure Server, Now Variables Wont Pass?
My company recently upgraded our web server to a 'secured' server with a SSL certificate, and I found that our old AS3 Flash / PHP email form wont pass variables.

The attached code is the basics of the var URL passing.
Is there a reason it no longer works? Maybe a security issue?

Code:
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("mailer.php");
var vars:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
var loader:URLLoader = new URLLoader();

vars.name = name_box.text;

req.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
req.data = vars;

Swf Plays Fine Locally, Slow Online
I have a 30 fps swf, when I play it from my computer, everything works fine, but once I upload it online, the playback becomes really slow, slow as in the animation being slow, like it was reduced to 12fps or something. I've checked the cpu usage and it doesn't seem that my cpu was maxing out during any of the playbacks.

oh, I tested it with flashplayer6 locally, and my IE has FP7(7.19.0) plug-in. Can that be the problem???

Flash Movie Plays Locally, But Not Live
Hi, this is my first post here.

I'm having trouble with a flash movie I created.

Basically, I want to add to my website but it will only play in the local view, not live. If you go to the source of the .swf file here, it seems to work, but its blown up:

http://www.golfschool.co.uk/images/swf/golfschool.swf

The problem is that i've added the flash movie here:

http://www.golfschool.co.uk/faqs.html

and it just doesnt work at all, but it does work locally.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Swf Plays Fine Locally But Won't Play When Uploaded
OK, so i just created a very simple flash unit with cross fades... published in flash 9, and dropped the swf file into an html page. on preview it plays fine. Then when I upload it to the server, the html page loads , but no swf, nothing. Apparently there are some new extraneous files that are published along with the swf, but even when I uploaded those to the server, nada, nothing... Please help.

AS Intensive Game Plays Fine Locally, But Slow In Browser
I have developed with Flash for a very long time, and Flash 8 is the first version where I have seen such a large discrepency between the frame rate of movies played locally (in the Flash player) and the frame rate of movies played in the browser.

Right now I am working on an intensive game with frame rate set to 53 fps. When played locally it averages a frame rate of ~50 fps with dips to 30 fps every once in a while. When played in IE I get an average frame rate of ~32 fps with dips to 19 fps. In firefox it is even worse.

Does anyone have experience with this or know why it might be happening? I don't have anything out of the ordinary going on in my game. Well, perhaps the only thing I can think of is that I am publishing in Flash 8 (with AS2) but I am still using mosly (~95%) AS1 compliant code. I am porting this over to Flash 8 at the last minute to use some of the newer features.

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

[F8] Swf Locally And On Server
I have a template and i've loaded a contact form with the following action
contact.loadMovie ("mailform1.swf");
contact._yscale=84;
contact._xscale=70;

Contact being the instance name of the container.

It all works well locally but not on the server.

I've checked the capitalisation but i'm at dead end

the contact form is actionscript 2 and the main fla id actionscript 1. could this have anything to do with it?

i'm publishing both in flash8

Locally Works - Server Does Not
Hello -

I have a flash file that imports photos from a folder and displays them. It works fine locally on my machine but when I put it on a server the pictures that rotate gets stuck on photo 1. Is this a publishing problem with actionscript 2.0 or what. have a look at my fla

Thanks!

Locally=OK , Server=No Luck
I have a problem with an image gallery.
It loads variables from a text file. (If this works I will later use a php file).

Everything works fine locally, but does not work on the server.
The photos are not saved progressive (it does work locally).

Anyone have any ideas? I ran a search. Similar problems with different outcomes.

The website is http://www.sweet-cakes.net
But ignore the gallery there.

The gallery in question is:
http://www.sweet-cakes.net/p/album.swf

The fla is:

Thanks in advance!

Works Locally, Not On The Server
is there any reason why this code:

Code:
var _lv = new LoadVars ( );

_lv.youremail = youremail;
_lv.yourname = yourname;
_lv.yoururl = yoururl;
_lv.yourcomments = yourcomments;
_lv.receiver = "someone@someplace.com";

_lv.sendAndLoad ("http://www.someserver.com/hrform.aspx", _lv, "POST");

works locally but not when it is on the server? I have the following in my cross domain policy file:

Code:
<cross-domain-policy>
<allow-access-from domain="*" />
</cross-domain-policy>

so I am allowing everything...

any ideas? thanks

[CS3] Swf Works Locally, Not On Server
I ran into an odd problem... I am loading a swf (residing on my server) into a mc using loadClip. It is working fine when I test it locally, but doesn't work when the calling swf is placed on my test server.

here is the code in question:

Code:
mcLoader.loadClip("http://***.com/***.swf", container);
};
function onLoadInit(mc:MovieClip) {
switch(_global.gameName){
case "game": container._height = 38;
container._width = 150;
container._x = 40;
container._lockroot = true;
gameWin();
break;
};
Any ideas?
Thanks

AS3 XML Works Locally But NOT On Dev Server
I have tried searching for answer in previous post but only came across a "cross domain" possible answer...however my files are all on the same domain same directory..

so problem is,
I have a flash CS3 slideshow using XML for the text, and to call images from folder in same directory...
it all works perfectly when tested in a browser from my desktop and also when uploaded to my iDisk, all is fine..
However it does not display when I upload the same files to the dev server;
data.xml
slideshow.swf
slideshow.html
AC_RunActiveContent.js
/images

the browser is calling the xml file but shows no images or text, just a the swf background art.

the flash file calls the xml

var xml_url:String = "xml/flash_news.xml";
var news_data:XML = new XML();

then xml file starts with

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
and calls images like this:
<news>
<title><![CDATA[Title]]></title>
<description><![CDATA[description text]]></description>
<url>http://</url>
<image>img1.jpg</image>
</news>

anybody any ideas?
thanks mucho!

SWF Loads Locally, But Not On Server.
Hi there, I have a nested SWF that includes 5 SWFs loaded by the user as below. They all work locally. But when I upload to the server, only this one loads. The others have identical instance depths, different coordinates, but don't load. I've double-checked the content of them, and they're all the same (except with different streaming audio). They are all in the same directory. What gives??

Code:
on (Release) {
this.createEmptyMovieClip("audioMC", 100);
audioMC.loadMovie("GreatNoontide.swf");
audioMC._x = 242.5;
audioMC._y = 132;

Xml Loads Locally But Not On Server
Im having problem loading youtubes xml.. When I run the flash file locally it gets the xml perfectly, but when on a server it doesn't. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Code:
var test_xml:XML = new XML();
test_xml.onLoad = function(success){
if (success){
textbox1.text=test_xml;
}
}
test_xml.load("http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ogIqayRDr4w");

Swf Works On Server, But Not Locally?
Hello Forum

It seems like security protocols have change in the past few months? I am able to test the swf from flash and also the swf on the server without a problem. What doesn't work is a swf launched locally on my desktop within the flash player as well as in the browser embedded in html. Is this normal? I'd like to be able to test the swf locally embedded in html to avoid having to constantly upload the new swf.

There is no warning coming up when I view the html page...?

I am using: :
- flash 8, actionscript 2
- Firefox
- allowscript access: always
- loading local xml files for the navigation and the content.
- Communicating between javascript and flash with simple getURL commands
Any idea what could be causing this and what I could do to change it so that I can view the swf/HTML locally?

Thank you

StephanK

Works Locally But Not On Server
Hey peeps!

I have a media player that gets passed in some values as flashVars.
The application works fine when I run it from flash (CS3) but when I upload it to a server it runs but doesn't connect to the media.

If you look here: http://sneeple.com/media_test/index.html you will see the player and it alerts that it cannot connect to the media at this location: http://www.sneeple.com/vg_rpc/rpc_media.php?mid=1

If you look at that url it checks whether access is allowed to the media item, establishes that it is not and returns this url: http://www.sneeple.com/no_access.swf

Now individually all of those work, but when I put them together they don't.

Now because if correctly alerts the url that it fails to load, there is nothing wrong with the data being passed in (domain and mid).

Thanks for any and all help.

//erlin!

The function that runs on load is this:

Attach Code

function loadMediaItem()
{
var mediaUrl:String = "http://www." + _root.site + "/vg_rpc/rpc_media.php?mid=" + _root.mIdx;
var lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
lv.load(mediaUrl);
lv.onLoad = function(success)
{
if(success)
{
var media = this["media"];
if(substring(media, media.length - 2, 3) == 'swf')
{
_root.createEmptyMovieClip("myMC", 1000);
myMC._y = 16;
myMC._x = 20;
myMC.loadMovie(media + "?site_url=" + _root.site);
return;
}

myDisplay.playStream(media);
return;
}
else
{
alert("Failed to obtain media from: " + mediaUrl);
}
}
}

Xml Loads Locally, Not On My Server
So I have this python script on my server doing a ton of stuff with sql and long story short, returns an xml data structure that flash then reads in using xml.load(). Now, this works PERFECTLY when I run the flash movie on my hard drive and direct the xml.load() to the full web path of the xml output, but when I upload the flash movie to the web, nothing occurs (or even worse, crashes the browser instantly).

I've tried the absolute web path and relative path. At one point the relative path worked, but then I made some modifications and it stopped working after uploading.

It's nearly 3am, and this has been bugging me since before midnight...

Load URL Works Locally But Not On Server
My mind is about to short. I may be missing something obvious but I can't tell

when i run the swf containing the following function call from my machine everything is fine and the URL is passed successfully.

When I upload it to the server...it fails. I don't get it.

oXMLLoader.getFrom("http://headlines.isyndicate.com/pages/dennisaugustine/medicalnews.xml");

Any hints?

I tried these variations already

oXMLLoader.getFrom('http://headlines.isyndicate.com/pages/dennisaugustine/medicalnews.xml');

and

oXMLLoader.getFrom(String("http://headlines.isyndicate.com/pages/dennisaugustine/medicalnews.xml"));

Works Locally, Messes Up On Server
Hi, fellow newbies!

I'm starting to learn Flash 5, and just when I thought I'd gotten my movie working right, I uploaded it to my server and now its behavior is different.

Here's the deal:

I have a movie that plays out when someone first hits the site. After the animation plays, it turns into the navigation menu.

The movie sits on EVERY page, so I set it to play through only when someone hits my index.html page. When they go to any other page in the site, the movie starts on the LAST FRAME, making it a static menu.

I set this up by putting this on Frame 1:

if (flag == 1) {
gotoAndPlay (97);
}

(97 is the last frame of the movie, i.e. the navigation menu.)

On the index.html page, I use this code:

<EMBED src="pieceofeight.swf" loop=false menu=false quality=medium salign=T wmode=transparent bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH=755 HEIGHT=231 TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></EMBED>

On every OTHER page, this code tells the movie to look for Flag == 1:

<EMBED src="pieceofeight.swf?flag=1" loop=false menu=false quality=autohigh salign=T wmode=transparent bgcolor=#FFFFFF WIDTH=755 HEIGHT=231 TYPE="application/x-shockwave-flash" PLUGINSPAGE="http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash"></EMBED>

This works fine when running it locally, but when I tested it on a server, all the subpages are playing the full movie instead of starting on Frame 97. Worse, they're playing the movie over and over, even though "loop=false" in the embed tag.

Does anyone know what's going on here? Could loading time have anything to do with it? (I haven't added a preloader to it yet.)

Thanks for your help!

SWF Play Locally,Won't Load From Server..HELP
Hi

I've got a perplexing problem with a project I'm working on.
The SWF loads and plays beautifully off my hard drive in either the Flash player or in my browser (IE 6.0). But, when I upload the file to a server, it won't play or locks up after it loads!

You can try viewing it at www.swingnouveau.com/123/test.htmlor at www.swingnouveau.com/123/interface5x3.swf

Any thoughts or suggestions would be sincerely appreciated

Script Works Locally - But Not On Server
im using some script to dynamically load jpegs. basiclaly it reads a number from a text file and loops through duplicating mcs and loading the jpegs, which are called 1,2,3 etc.

this works on my local machine but when i put it live it:

a) opens the text file but assigns the variable a null value instead of the number

or
b) if i hardcode the number in the a.s. it still fails to load the jpegs.

any input welcomed. thanks

Could someone take a look at the script ive attached and try and help me out as ive been pulling my hair out for the last few hours now and its just about to hit 7am

Thanks to anyone that can offer help....

Flvs Work Locally But Not On Server
Hello,

Putting up a site which plays flvs through progressive download. It works perfectly locally, but all the flvs fail once placed on the server. The really wierd thing is that even though they are visible on the sever through my FTP client, if I type in their full url ie http://www.mysite.com/videos/myflv.flv, I get a page not found message.

I'm trying to get in touch with the hosts to see if it's a MIME problem, does anybody have any ides?

Thanks

Saving Image Locally (without Server)
Hi,

I would like to save user's drawing to image file e.g. BMP, JPGE.

I have done the drawing part, but cannot do the saving part.

I have looked around and only found way to
print the drawing
OR
save(or reconstruct) via PHP by using BitmapData class

later method seem fit my need, but I want it pure stand-alone application, not connect to any server.

My question is:
Are there any method can save the "appearances/outlook" of a movie clip without connect to server?

Thanks

Using Server Files While Testing Locally
Hi Everyone,

I have a PHP file on my testing server that outputs XML, which I use in my Flash site. Does anyone know if there is a way to use that file when I'm testing locally?

Everytime I want to test a change to the Flash file, I have to publish it, upload it to my server, clear my browser cache and refresh the browser page. I've set my Local playback security to "Access Network Only" and created a crossdomain.xml file and placed it at my server root, but I still get an "Error opening URL" message when I publish the Flash file. This happens with both .php and .xml files.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Luke

Loading Swf's Locally Works, But Not Over The Server
I am building this splash page with a website, and at a certain point i call

myMCL.loadClip("circle.swf", 5);

and it works fine when i am on my machine. When I upload it, it doesn't work, yet if I go to it directly by typing in the url for that specific swf (.../circle.swf), it comes up, but just won't come up on the movie.

This has been happening a few times, and i keep just joining the movies manually from two separate files since I am on a time crunch, but I eventually have to figure out what I am doing wrong.

Any suggestions?

THANKS... thanks thanks thanks...can't type it enough.

Streaming Video From Server Vs. Locally
Hi all,

I'm sure this is something simple that I'm missing, but I'm unable to stream video off my Flash Media Server using Actionscript 3.0. I am able to get it to work with local files, so maybe I'm just putting my video files in the wrong place on the server, or referencing the files improperly in my script.

I have 3 video files: 1.flv, 2.flv, and 3.flv on my media server at /video/applications/videoViewer/streams/_definst_. My flash file is also called "videoViewer", and the code for my VideoViewer class is listed below.

Essentially, the constructor makes pointers to objects on the stage in the fla file, and fires up a NetConnection. Users can type in a file name in a text field and hit a button to create a NetStream to that file, attach the stream to a Video object on the stage, and play the stream.

Creating a local NetConnection (new NetConnection(null)) plays back the files fine (they are of course located in the same local directory as my .swf and .as files). But when I point my NetConnection to my server, I don't get any video played back but I also don't get any errors. Requesting a file that is there and a file that is not there results in the same messages being generated by the handlers I have in place. I do not get any metadata events on the remote files, and I also do not get any NetStream.Buffer messages when trying to stream from my server (I do get these messages when playing back locally).

Here is my code:

package{

import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.media.Video;
import flash.text.TextField;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
import flash.events.NetStatusEvent;
import flash.net.NetConnection;
import flash.net.ObjectEncoding;
import flash.net.NetStream;
import flash.events.IOErrorEvent;

public class VideoViewer extends MovieClip{

var _v:Video;// VIDEO
var _i:TextField;// INPUT TEXT FIELD
var _f:TextField;// FEEDBACK TEXT FIELD
var _b:MovieClip;// 'PLAY' BUTTON MOVIECLIP
var _nc:NetConnection;// NECONNECTION TO SERVER

// CONSTRUCTOR
public function VideoViewer(){
_v = this.v_video;
_i = this.file_ti;
_f = this.info_txt;
_b = this.playButton_mc;

// CONNECT TO SERVER
_nc = new NetConnection();
_nc.objectEncoding = ObjectEncoding.AMF0;
_nc.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus);
// _nc.connect("rtmp://[myserverlocation]/videoViewer");
_nc.connect(null);
}

function onPlayButtonClick(e:MouseEvent):void{
// trace("button clicked!");
var fileName:String = _i.text;
// ADD A '.FLV' FILE EXTENSION TO THE FILE NAME
fileName = fileName + ".flv";
// trace("fileName = " + fileName);
trace("loading video: " + fileName);

// CREATE NET STREAM
var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(_nc);
// ATTACH NET STREAM TO VIDEO OBJECT
_v.attachNetStream(ns);
// ADD EVENT LISTENER TO NETSTREAM
ns.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, onIOerror);
// ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onStreamNetStatus);
ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus);

// Add callback method for listening on
// NetStream meta data
var client:Object= new Object();
ns.client = client;
client.onMetaData = nsMetaDataCallback;

// PLAY THE NET STREAM
ns.play(fileName);
}

function nsMetaDataCallback(mdata:Object):void{
trace("metadata: " + mdata.duration);
}

function onStreamNetStatus(e:NetStatusEvent):void{
trace("NetStream Status Event: " + e.info.code);
}

function onIOerror(e:IOErrorEvent):void{
trace("IO Error: " + e.toString);
}

function onNetStatus(e:NetStatusEvent):void{
// FIGURE OUT IF THE EVENT TARGET IS THE NETCONNECTION OR THE NETSTREAM

if(e.target == "[object NetConnection]"){
trace("NetConnection Status: " + e.info.code);
if (e.info.code == "NetConnection.Connect.Success"){
_b.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, onPlayButtonClick);
_nc.removeEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, onNetStatus);
}
}
else if (e.target =="[object NetStream]") {
trace("NetStream Status: " + e.info.code);
}
}
}
}

By commenting out one _ns.connect() command for the other I can change from local playback and network playback. Here is the output I get from the local playback when I start the app and request playback of 1.swf:
NetConnection Status: NetConnection.Connect.Success
loading video: 1.flv
NetStream Status: NetStream.Play.Start
metadata: 371.89593190000005
NetStream Status: NetStream.Buffer.Empty
NetStream Status: NetStream.Buffer.FullHere is the code I get when playing back from the server:
NetConnection Status: NetConnection.Connect.Success
loading video: 1.flv
NetStream Status: NetStream.Play.Reset
NetStream Status: NetStream.Play.StartFinally, request a file that's NOT THERE locally results in a NetStream Status: NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound Even being thrown, while when trying from the remote server this does not seem to be thrown, and I see the same output as above.

Any ideas where I've gone wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated.

XML Load Works Locally But Not On The Server
Hi, I'm working on a slideshow which loads images from an XML file. When I'm testing it locally it's working fine, but when I uploaded it to the web-server it seems like the XML won't load.

Remoting Works Locally Not On Server
my flash remoting file work perfectly locally, but not when i upload the files to my server. what could cause this?

the movie is a simple textbox that pulls data from a SQL db, and scrools it across the screen.

if it helps the a.s. looks like this:

#include "NetServices.as"

if (inited == null) {
// do this code only once
inited = true;
// set the default gateway URL (this is used only in authoring)
NetServices.setDefaultGatewayUrl("http://www.irsd.net/flashservices/gateway");
// connect to the gateway
gateway_conn = NetServices.createGatewayConnection();
// get a reference to a service
newsService = gateway_conn.getService("http://www.irsd.net/components/news.cfc?wsdl", this);

newsService.getAnnouncements();

announcement_mc._x = 749;
}

function getAnnouncements_Result (result) {

var len = result.getLength();

if(len < 1)
{
announcement_mc.announce_txt.text = "Watch this scroll for important IRSD news...";
}

var obj = result.getItemAt(0).Title + " . . .";
for(var i = 1; i < len; i++)
{
obj = obj + " " + result.getItemAt(i).Title + " . . .";
}

with (announcement_mc.announce_txt) {
autoSize = "left";
text = obj;
}

}

if ((announcement_mc._x > 0) || (announcement_mc.announce_txt.maxhscroll == 0)){
announcement_mc._x -= 1;
}

if ((announcement_mc.announce_txt.hscroll == announcement_mc.announce_txt.maxhscroll) && (announcement_mc.announce_txt.maxhscroll != 0)) {
announcement_mc._x -= 1;
}

if ((announcement_mc._x == 0) && (announcement_mc.announce_txt.maxhscroll != 0)) {
announcement_mc.announce_txt.hscroll += 1;
}

if (announcement_mc._x < (announcement_mc.announce_txt._width * -1)) {
announcement_mc._x = 749;
announcement_mc.announce_txt.hscroll = 0;
}

Preloader Working Locally But Not On Server
Hi.

I've made a fairly simple preloader that's loading an image into an empty movieclip, then attaching an onEnterFrame handler to check if it's loaded before passing the timeline on to the next frame to load the next image etc.

I've tried the preloader on bandwidth simulation mode in Flash and it works perfectly - it takes ages to load on 14kb but the images are loaded in frame order.

However, when I upload my swf to server..the frames are whizzed through and the images appear in the order they load, rather than image1,image2 etc

Here's my code..You will see both frames are fairly similar..There is one of these for each image.
Please help

Attach Code

//from frame 1

stop()

_root.mc21.loadMovie("imagename.jpg");

this.onEnterFrame = function(){
if (mc21.getBytesLoaded()==mc21.getBytesTotal())
{
gotoAndPlay(2);
}
}

//the following code is on frame 2

.stop()

_root.mc1.loadMovie("image2.jpg");

this.onEnterFrame = function(){
if (mc1.getBytesLoaded()==mc1.getBytesTotal())
{
gotoAndPlay(3);
}
}

ActionScript (2.0) Works Locally But Not From Server... What's Up?
Greetings: I have a main flash movie and am calling an external flash movie that loads a FLV file. This external SWF file simply plays back a video. All is working here fine. In this externally loaded flash movie I also have two buttons that are supposed to close the window underneath it and then unload it.

It is these two buttons that work perfectly when I test the movie locally within the Flash CS3 environment but do not work when I upload the files to the server; Here is the code on button 1:

_root.onEnterFrame = function() {

LoadMovie Working Locally But Not On Server
I have a project that consists of two swfs and a text file. One swf is the main swf. On a frame in the main swf I created an empty movie clip and loaded a movie into it. The movie that is loaded into the empty clip has actions that loads variables into a text box.

It works locally but it doesn't work when I upload the project to a server and try to view it. It only loads the main swf. The files are all in the same place on the server. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Load MC Level 1 -> Works Locally But Not From Server... ?
Ok Gurus, I need your assistance!

In an attempt to get away from telltarget, and using dot-syntax, and ensuring the level1 MC is loaded before positioning and playing, the MCs work locally but not when placed out on a server. What gives?

The MCs are as follows:

Main MC, scene "Television" (level0):

Frame 2:

loadMovieNum ("export-TV.swf", 1);

Frame 4:

if (_level0.lev1Loaded=true) {
trace ("level 1 loaded");
_level1._x = 1;
_level1._y = 93;
_level1.gotoAndPlay("start");
} else {
trace ("loading level 1");
gotoAndPlay ("Television", 3);
}

MC export-TV.swf

Frame 1:

stop();

Last frame:

_level0.lev1Loaded=true

Test movie proves that the level1 loads and plays as desired (trace outputs "level 1 loaded").

Placing out on the server, however, it does not work. The level1 MC *does* load (verified by looking in temp files listing), however, it does not play. If I cut the connection to the server and execute the movie (in "non-connected" mode), then it does play.
Anyone have any suggestions?

GET And POST - Works Server Side, But Not Locally
My Problem:

I have a flash chat that I programed using some tuts (made with php). On the server side all works fine when I use my broser to view it.

What I need though is for the swf (call it chat.swf) to call the files (chat.php) from the server doing both GET and POST while being ran off my desktop. ie. After publishing my swf from my fla (still on my system, not the server) I want the "RAW" chat.swf (locally) to call the chat.php file on the server and still function correctly.

The Major Issue:

When I try it locally it will only let me GET the variables of my remote php files but not POST variables to my php files. I know that some if not all servers, dont let you do some cross-server thing (dont really know what it is) but if so... then why can I read the files but not write to them...

Files:

chat.swf (self explainatory)
chat.txt (contains the conversation)
chat.php (takes the swf variable and updates the chat.txt file then sends the chat.txt file back as the variable to be displayed in the chat.swf)

Please help me... I need this for school next week... (a big project.

Skin File Not Visible Locally Or On Server
I'm trying to create my first Flash Video. I've successfully created the FLV file from my source video. From there it gets hairy.

I'm using Flash Pro 8 and doing the following:

Open New flash document
Import Video
Choose Progressive Download from a Web Server
Select Skin "SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf"
Finish

Video shows up in FLA document with correct Skin.

Parameters are:
AutoPlay - true
AutoRewind - true
autoSize - false
bufferTime 0.1
Content Path TheDog.flv
cuePoints None
isLive false
MaintainAspectRatio true
skin SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf
SkinAutoHide false
totaltime 0
volume 100

Next I click File Publish

It publishes the file "video_publish.swf" and "video_publish.html" into the same folder as the "TheDog.flv" file and the "SteelExternalPlaySeekMute.swf" file. I upload all four files to the server and the video plays fine, but there are no playback controls, the skin if you will. What am I missing.

The URL of the video is at: http://trekkin.com/FLVTest/Video_Publish.html

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Flash Movie Loads Locally, However Not On Server
Hi there,

As the subject suggests I'm having problems with an embeded SWF file,
whereby if I open the HTML file containing it locally - the movie
loads fine, but if I access via a webserver it doesn't.

I currently have two SWF files... one (intro.swf) which preloads and
then displays the second (info_ani.swf).

The thing to bare in mind here is I have IIS installed and thus the
file locations are EXACTLY the same when I open intro.html locally (C:
Inetpubwwwrootsuiteintro.html) or via the web server (http://
localhost/suite/intro.html).

Below is the code in the HTML file (generated by Flash CS3) calling
the SWF:
