Sharp Stroke Corners?
How do I make the corners of just a stroked box sharp? As it is now, the "inside" of the stroke is sharp, but the outside is rounded ... any help? I did a search for this here and couldn't find anything ... Thanks, all

When using the Line Tool, the lines have rounded endpoints/ corners, but I want sharp endspoints/ corners!

Checking the "sharp corners" in "custom style" in the properties panel of the line doesn't help - any ideas?

Sharp Edges
i'm having trouble getting my edges to look sharp in flash. i've drawn a small box, and when i go to preview it it looks blurry. i've got some boxes that were drawn within my background in fireworks, and those looks clean when my background is saved as a jpg and imported into flash. not sure what the problem is....anyone got any ideas??

I am using different type faces in Flash MX, and the problem is they are blurred slightly, is there anyway around this I have tried so called pixel fonts, flash fonts ect, yet they all seem slightly blurred.

Graphics Are Not Sharp. Why?
I working on a project where I use these little mc's only 1 px in height (7 px width).

I want them to have sharp edges at all times. They have sharp edges but only until I start animating them. Then the mc's start to blur out. I have tried with both bitmap graphics (imported from Photoshop) and Flash-drawn graphics but it's all the same. So I have a feeling it has to do with some kind of property or something inside of Flash.

I'm sure someone else has experienced the same type of problem - and it has probably been posted on this board before too. I've tried searching the board with no luck so help would be greatly appreciated.

Sharp Jpegs
Hello flashers......... Is there a way to keep jpegs looking very sharp???. When I work on my site, I size my images in photoshop to the final size they will appear in my site and save them as jpegs ( should they be safe as PNG). Then I import the jpegs to the library then I open the Bitmap Properties window and I uncheck the allow smoothing box and the Use imported JPEG data box and set Quality to 100. I do this for all the images that I import. Once I finish that, I convert each image into a graphic so I can manipulate the image, like changing the alpha or create a tween. All looks great until I publish the file. This is when the images look shoft, sometimes have lines or look pixalate. Please take a look a this website whose images look amazing.

Flash Within C Sharp
I have a Flash demo that is going to be used with C Sharp as the container.

The Flash demo has the usual mcs within mcs.
Can a C# button communicate within the movie clips?
When Flash is playing and is running the ball_mc and comes to a "stop" frame action, can C# use a button to tell it to continue onto the next frame within that movie?

I'm not the programmer on this but the C# dude can't find a call to continue within the movie, it only jumps to the next frame on the main timeline.

Any help will be appreciated.

How Do You Keep The Graphics Looking Sharp?
Whenever I export a project the graphics always end up looking pretty bad. How can you maintain the crisp lines you get with vectors?

Sharp Fonts
can't get clean sharp fonts, I've followed a few tutorials, kept sizes at intervals of 8 etc,etc but still seems blurry when published.

a font size of 8 is also way bigger than i want to be using!!!!

what am i doing wrong??

Image Not Sharp, Why?
Hi,

May I know why everytime when I insert picture(jpeg) to the stage it seems ok but when I involve timeline, like text animation the picture will blur & not sharp when I preview(alt+enter)? I tried to change the picture to either movie, button or graphic but doesn't help too.

Don't you guys think the drawRoundRect needs a "smoothing=true" or something to make the rounded corner better?

The default mode is toooo sharp

I tried for a few times and finally find the effect is rather poorer than using a bitmap instead.

Or anytips for that?

Image Not Sharp
hi all,

i go this png image in an MC. I rotated the MC using motion tween and this has caused the image to be pixelated. Can anyone tell me how to keep the image sharp even when the MC (that contains the image) is rotated?

Hey,

I've made a small thing in fireworx, a little arrow in a box. Now i imported that in flash mx, and put it on the scene, but i don't see the botom line of the box

So i thought, maybe i can draw this in flash itself, i started ... but i don't know how to get the corners right. They never are in 90° angle. You gotta really zoom in to see it ... cuz it's kinda small.
If you use the hairline, it's fine, but the line is to small.

I added the fla file so you could see for yourself ...

Hope you understand what i mean and somebody can help me

Hi all.

a simple question that i cant find the answer too..

i am trying to create sharp text at a small px size in MX, worked fine using the tutorial which says to create the text as dynamic text / mulitline with wrap / postiioned to whole pixel... but when i test the movie, there is no text visible, so i change it too static text but the text is now crappy and not sharp, so can someone help me out and explain what i am doing wrong and how to get sharp text at a small size as seen on some very cool sites???

I've got problems with type I've set looking pretty choppy in flash MX. It's been viewed on all sizes/resolutions....sometimes it's okay...sometimes it's gross....I'm most concerned about the black body copy

Sharp Pixel Graphics?
I'm trying to bring some small 5X5 gifs into flashmx
that are simple pixel graphics created in photoshop.

The problem is that flash makes them look cruddy.

I've turned off smoothing from the library pallete,
brought them in as gifs and pngs and cranked up the quality.

Can anyone help me?

Regardless of publishing at 100%, jpeg images in flash have visible edges and look jagged.

ive searched everywhere to try and find a trick for this. when you load a jpg into a movie, and resize it to a SMALLER size no matter what, why does it become discusting and unsharp? i could understand it being stretched out if i was making it bigger but it is being made smaller. is there a trick to keeping dynamically loaded .jpgs sharp? thanks for any help.

Text Problems - Not Sharp
Hello all,

My first question on this site - I am having the following problem and don't quite know how to resolve it :

Enclosed please find a file in 2 sectons :

1. Original - This is a screen shot of what the text looks like in Flash 4.0.
2. Browser - The same text as seen in the browser ( my monitor is set to show at 24 bits )

These is a BIG difference between the two. The text in Original.jpg is sharp ( i.e no fussiness ) and dense ( i.e. black text looks black ).

The same is not true for the text for Browser.jpg - It looks soft and faded - What is supposed to be black text, infact looks grey.

As flash verctorizes this type of data, I do not understand why this is the case. All text ( large and small font ) is from the Zurich family -
a non-serif font.

Also please note that as the fonts get smaller, the problem increases.

Also I have the "Publish" setting in Flash is at "Highest" quality setting level.

The white colour text at the botton also seems less while in the brower version - The same can be said for the orange coloured text on the upper righthand side.

Kindly assist me with this situation.

Sharp Image Question
I have a question to ask, i wonder if flash can produce a sharp and good image just like showed below?

I use adobe photoshop to make them, i spend a lot of time trying to make a good picture using flash mx but somehow i cant make it. Can someone tell me please?
Beside, i try to copy the picture into flash, there are a white box around it, so i use magic wand tool to remove it. However, the magic wand cant 100% remove all white area around it. So i wondering how you do it

Hi all, and a happy new year!

I'm making a part Flash, part HTML site. I want to make the titles to the pages really sharp, crisp. I understand that doing text in Photoshop is a NO GO due to the program being bitmap. I have been tring out Illustrator, (never really used this program) havn't had any good results???

Hi, how do I get really sharp text in Flash MX as when I do a font size of say 12 in Times New Roman it is not very sharp?

I designed this website. Made all the images in 72 DPI actual size, but when i host it all the images appear a little out of focus and pixelated.Images especially in the "Some Work" section. The quality i have set for the images is 100% when i published it in Flash. Can anyone throw some light on why they are not sharp and crips. Any suggestions would be really appreciated.

Trying To Get Sharp Pixel Gif Graphic

can someone help.

I've done a gif which is just 1 colour on a transparent background. Its ment to be sharp and crisp so i.e no anti-alaising.

I'm careful when I import it into flash by making sure its placed on a whole pixel and also placed at 100%. But with all my efforts it is still going blurred and distorted. i've tried pngs but still no luck

I'm sure i've done this before and its worked fine.

Why Blur Fitler Set To 0 Is Still Not Sharp?
I'm trying to use the blur filter for a motion tween but the problem is when I set the blur to zero and the image is still look like it has some blur effect in it. If I delete the blur filter than the image looks sharp again. Any idea why?

Is there a way to add fonts to Flash that is "crisp" and rich that looks similar to that of HTML document? I tried to play around with Flash's font settings and even imported Photoshop's file but its not the same as that of HTML. Any tip on how that can be accomplished. Thanks a lot!

Is A Sharp Edge From DrawCircle Possible?
Whenever I use:

The edges are always soft, does anyone know how to make the edges sharp? Or do I have to write my own function to create a circle pixel by pixel to insure all of the pixels are the same color?

anyways I managed to get some of the text to be sharp but that's only luck I guess... when I make a text box, and place text in there, * by the way the font is FFF Harmony, from Fontforflash.com* it shows up nice sometimes meaning sharp, then in some cases it shows up blurry.... I was wondering why this happens, and if somehow I can prevent this problem from happening again? It wierd but it happens... ohh and I didn't do anything to the settings of the text, or do I need to change something? anyways to many questions and probably to many solutions...
