Bit of reverse engineering here...

For christmas i got an unrecoverable HD. On said HD I had found a flash menu, that i used and turned into this www.charlestonlimo.com

I can't for the life of me find that tutorial again. I'm pretty sure it was here or one other place that starts with a k. Maybee not, like i said my drive un recoverable, even seagate's lab said tough.

It's NOT this one with the boxes which is on here but i can't find it either. that's what i'm going after, but that one doesn't work near as well as the one i used to build the menu for the above link.

Sliding Bar/scrolling Menu
hi,

I've been having trouble with the actionscripting of buttons in a MC, I'v tried several other ways, but none of them seem to work so far. I'm trying to get a sliding bar with buttons in it, but clicking the buttons doesn't have any effect on the movie at all -- can anybody help?

hi guys!!! i need your help, a client asks me if i could make a sliding/scrolling menu of images(sideways) with links and those images should dynamically loads from lets say a directory or something like that and can easily control/change image and url in a simple external text file( heres a sample of what it should look like:

Sliding/scrolling Menu Problem

I am trying to figure this one out.

but, I am trying to place the menu in specific location, where it will not scroll all the way across the screen, but instead in a small area that I specify, and will only scroll when the mouse is over it.

I have a link to what I already have done.

Seems like no matter how I play with the numbers, it either goes too far to the left or the right, or it doesn't move properly, or at all.

I have realized that the slide bars (in this code) seem to need to be displayed in multiples based on the width of the stage.

Including Scrolling Text In Sliding Menu?

I had follow with sucess the tutorial "sliding menu" that I want to use for my website.

I replace the look of each window of this tutorial (1,2,3,4) to began the pages of my website. Now I try in one of them to include a simple scrolling text.

So I did a tutorial of scrolling text. It work totally fine but NOT when I visualise it from my sliding menu.

Why the scrolling text tutorial work when it is made in the Main Stage but not when is in a movie clip of my sliding menu window?

Any advise or idea, please.

What and where do I have to change in the Action Frame for this?

The other tutorial I'm using about the data transfert in my "contact" page (see website) is working great when I'm doing it on a new flash file but not at all when I include it in the sliding menu of Ilias. All the input and dynamic texts are not active in the preview.

This problem is the same when I try to use a sliding text for my "resume" page

Why is that and How could I correct it?

Please Help With Sliding Menu Static Copy Works, Sliding Doesn't
I have a copy of the same sliding tab menu. On has actionscipt on the MC telling it to slide in/out. The other does not.

The moving one loses all it's sub-timeline actions.

The static one works fine. How do I get the moving to work?

Please help.

Sliding Menu - Need MC To Play After Sliding Has Finished
Hi,

I have created a Sliding Menu with about 12 sections. In one of the section/s I have a MC inside that I want to play. Is there a way to tell a MC to play once sliding has completed? Say based on pixel position (of the sliding MC) or something similar?

At the moment I'm using "on release" but with this method, the animation starts too early. (By the time you slide from section 1 to 12 the MC has already started playing)...

Any ideas?

Flash Sliding Menu / Horizontal Dynamic Picture Menu

Combine XML Menu Tutorial With Verticle Sliding Menu

IM trying to combine the dynamic XML menu tutorial found here on Kirupa with a tut ive found else where.

Now I under stand how the sliding tutorial works, but its based on some fixed dimensions.

Obviously the dimensions of the XML menu can change as items are added ...if any one could take a look a source (below) and tell me where to start referencing the variouse dimensions involved?

The news.xml and news.fla files contain a rough working model of the XML menu in case they are fo any use?

I have an example .FLA prepared but my images go from left to right but do not cycle around.

Simultaneous Scrolling And Sliding
I have been working with Flash for a while now, only recently plunging head first into scripting, so my Actionscript knowledge is patchy at best. I've been able to find tutorials to help me with most of the things I needed to accomplish with the project I'm working on, but my understanding of how it all pieces together is still very limited. That being said, here's is my problem:

I found a tutorial by Michelangelo Capraro and Duncan McAlester to create a gesture-driven scrolling list. Its explanations of the code and versatility made it easier for me to understand (in a limited manner) how each part of the code functions, but I'm at a point where I want to add another level of functionality and I'm not sure how to go about it and make it compatible with the existing code. In addition to the scrolling array, there are buttons positioned below it, one for each movie clip within the array. When clicked, I would like each one of these buttons to basically move the whole array at once so that the corresponding movie clip eases into place and is solely visible on the stage. I'm not sure how to get the individual movie clips to move together and still keep the scrolling functionality. I've tried a couple of things, but I'm not sure I'm referencing the array properly in order to make it move as a unit like it does when it scrolls. I've attached a sample file. All the code for the scrolling is in the green square movie clip called "tester".

Any help on this is much appreciated! I hope my explanation is clear enough. I'm learning actionscript in a bit of a scattered way, so I'm still trying to grasp basic concepts as well as complicated ones.

Scrolling/sliding Slideshow Transitions

I'm trying to make a looping slideshow with image transitions like the slideshow on this site: http://www.publichue.com/ , where the image slides over and pushes the other one away. I can make a basic slideshow, but I'm sadly pretty bad with actionscript as I'm a designer and not much of a coding person. As always I'd really appreciate any help anyone can give me with this! :)

Scrolling Content, Sliding Panorama Effect
My mind seems to be be on pause. I have this movie clip on my main time line that has all the content in it. I have buttons outside of it (they are on the main timeline as well). I have it working so that the button sets the _x for the mc to go to. That part works, where I need help is I want it to accelerate and decelerate such that if you are at section 1 and you click section 5 button, it will "slide" "scroll" or whatever term applies faster than if you click section 2.

Scrolling/Sliding Image Navigation Problem
Hello! I'm having a little trouble with the navigation piece I'm working on. The concept is three vertical panels and when you roll over each image it expands, and when you rolloff it returns to its original size. I was trying to purchase a template from ohmyflash.com, but they're not answering their phone or email. The template in question is http://www.ohmyflash.com/horizontal/121/42.html

I've tried to build my own, but it isn't quite working correctly. I've attached what I have. The third image seems to take precedence. Is there a command to clear out the most recent rollover? I'm a bit of an actionscript noob so I appreciate any help with my file or if someone can point me to a tutorial. I've search, but I guess since I don't know the term for this type of navigation tool I've gotten a lot of different styles of navigation that weren't what I was looking for. Problem With Sliding Menu (menu.xml)
I have tweeked one of the free sliding menu's (menu xml) downloaded from a website.

We have made it to go vertical instead of horizontal, also we make it stop once the top or bottom of the menu reaches the top/bottom of the page. Therefore we have removed it from looping all over again. The problem that occurs is that once it does stop the last menu button jumps up a bit; and everytime we go up and back down it jumps again and this keeps on happening.

Also the top part does the same (going up), this only happens to the first and last buttons.

I have attached my file so you can see what I have done wrong and hopefully help me on this.

Scrolling/sliding Images Based On Mouse Movement
Does anyone have a link to a good tutorial on creating scrolling/sliding images that react to the users mouse movement? Ideally, the images would scroll right to left on their own but when the user mouses over they would control the images scrolling left or right. Any help would be great.

Newbie Spotlight/sliding Curtains/scrolling Img Gallery Help
What I need to do is fairly simple, but i've only used flash on rare occassions and really need a hand to go in the right direction instead of mish mashing stuff from tutorials then end up not working when i put it together in the end.
as you can see, i've already done the artwork for the site. so a major hurdle is overcome. i know, it looks cheesy...lol

i would like to do some spotlight animation where the spotlights move around on the curtains. this will be the main page.

when users click on the left menu and choose a category, a preloader animation will play...

when it's finished loading the curtains will open to reveal the fist picture in the gallery while the right side has a vertical auto scrolling gallery that will scroll through the pics in the gallery. when the user moves the cursor to the arrows on the right it will speed up.

so, it seems simple enough, but i need some suggestions to get started. your help is much appreciated.

I've been looking for a tutorial for ages to show me how to create an image gallery but can't find one.

Along the bottom of the screen would be thumbs of each individual image. When the user clicks on a thumb the a large row of images would slide across bringing the appropriate image into view.

Basically similar to the following site but with images instead of text:

I want to make a menu with pictures moving horizontally back and forth, and the speed is going to depends on the mouse positions. Also, when I click on one of the pictures in the sliding menu, the bigger picture is going to show on the side. Can you help me how to do this or tell me where I can get the sample file? I have the sample file for the slider menu with texts in it, but i can't get it work with pictures in it.

Hi!

I want to make a meny split in "half" when I push a specific button. The lower part will then slide down and take with them 2 sub cats for the specific button mentioned before.
I have 4 layers:

1: Button 1-4.
2: A mask to hide the 2 sub cats buttons benieth layer 1.
3: Buttons 5-10.
4: Background.

I have tried to find a good lesson in Flash MX but I think it leaves much to wished for, so here I am trying to get some help.

I'm looking to creating a sliding menu...I'll have about 20 thumbnail pictures along the side of a page around 800 x 600. Obviously I can't fit all 20 thumbnails on the page at once so I want a slider bar so that the user can slide from top to bottom of the thumbnail list. I'm using Flash MX BUT I need to output my file to Flash 5, since I'm restricted to using my Flash file in Director 8.5 which only supports up to Flash 5 SWF files.

Anyone know of a way to do this? Please advise....Thanks!!!

Sliding A.S. Menu Bar
I am trying to adapt a .fla it to my needs but there is code a bit everywhere : ) and i an not soo good.
Is just a bottom menu thumbnails bar with a mousover to slide some pics above in a clear way but i cannot make the small pics and the moving ones collime.
the pics are suppose to slide but they goes with no sense.
if u fell help .
the ugly buttons will be replaced with some nice thumbnails.

I'de like to know if iz possible to make it works without get into the code otherwise i won't be able to understand it.

I built this menu using code that I found on this forum. Everything is working great except for when the main menu goes up or down, the sub menu seems to come partially out then go back (the sub menu isn't supposed to move until you mouse over one of the buttons). I can't figure out what is causing this to happen and was hoping someone here may be able to help.

Have a sliding menu , that contains 2 MC's , a Background Box & a MC containing 4 buttons. The menu slides up all fine etc , but the buttons for some reason will only show the Up effect , not the Over. Any ideas ? , probably summin simple. Brain aint on today

Sliding Up Sub Menu
Hi All,

I am trying to design a menu system in which the sub menu fades in in an upward direction. I can get it to slide up on mouse over and slide down on mouse out but I can not get it to stay so that you can select the submenu buttons. I have attached my file. Any suggestions? PS. This has to be done in Flash 5.

gooday all, i'm having a bit of trouble that I just can't quite get my head around. See what I'm trying to do is make this menu(attached) so that when you click on one of the links, they slide out to the right....now, I have the sliding part down. But seeing as there are 4 items in the menu (about, services, work, contact) I would like the menu to work so that there can only be one item selected at a time

(ex. u click on "about", it slides out to the right, and then u click on "services" and "about" slides back to the left with the rest and "services" slides out to the right....a bit confusing)

The BIG problem here is I can't get an item in the menu (ex. "about") to function so that if ANY of the other items are selected it must move back to the left. So far all I've accomplished is it's acknowledgment of ONE other item.

THE QUESTION: Is there a way I can make it so that there can only be one item selected at a time? Using If statements or not...doens't matter

hi guys,
i have a menu and on some of the buttons when they are rolled onto i want the bottom half to slide down revealing sub-menu's in a button. and when the user rolse of i want the menu system to slide back into place. i attached a file to make my bad expalnantion easier to understand

ps. I found something similar to what I needed but it seems to be quite mc heavy, which will slow it down I think. I also want the menu to reveal submenu's when the mouse roll' over it not once clicked, and to move more 'elastic';

hello expert flashers!

I am in need of your help. I'm still a beginner in making designs in flash so please bear with me.

My problem is this: A slider menu that has a link that calls html or php files. When I click on the thumbnail images or button from the slider menu, it will link to an html or php file similar to this website: http://sureseats.myayala.com/comingsoon/ This site has arrows (left and right) so when your mouseover on the left and right arrow it would move according to the direction you want. In addition, when you click on the thumbnail, you will be directed to a url (which is fine) but no pop windows. Just opening on the same window.

Somehow, this tutorial works http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx/infinite.htm ) however how do I place the left and right arrows? the links or urls? no pop windows just opening on the same window.
I know I'm asking a lot from all of you but I have been searching for tutorials all day and I haven't found what I've been looking for. I have to admit I'm not good in creating action scripts that is why I'm asking for help.
