Flash :: Slow Mozilla

Large Images / Alfa Tween / Slow Slow Slow... Help Please
I'm working on a site at the moment and one of the main eyecatchers is there is a slideshow-type of animation running in the background the whole time.

There's a dozen (large in pixels, but not in kb) .jpgs that have a minute long fade between images, a few seconds pause and then onto the next fade.

I've tried just making a normal alfa tween, I've tried making the slideshow as a seperate .swf, I've tried dynamic images with .xml, I've even tried making the .fla background transparent and making the slideshow on the html page using javascript.

But all make the site run very slowly. Text scrolling is slow, short rollover animations are slow, etc. etc.

My question is: Is there a way of making a super light alfa tween with large images?

99% of the threads regarding slideshows here at Flashkit have many views but no replies. I need help, and soon. Many many thanx to anyone that can point me in the right (or any) direction.

I have created a .fla that consists of 3 scenes, each of which contains the same scrolling text box that loads the same external text file. The .fla is fairly CPU intensive already, and maybe the addition of the text pushed it over the edge, but when it plays, the text takes a long time to load when switching scenes (the text box appears, but it takes up to 30 seconds to load the text depending on the computer I use), and the scrolling is hit-and-miss.

My questions are:
1) Would it be faster if I hard-coded the text right into the textbox?

2) Should I get rid of the other 2 scenes and put everything into 1 scene?

3) Any suggestions?

Slow...slow...slow Animation
hey guys,
im making an animation to a voiceover.
i want to sync the images with the voice.
it seems everytime i play the movie (i am publishing it as an exe to view because this is to be my final platform), the images play at a different speed.
what is this and how do i fix it?
also, does the way i have put the audio in make any difference to the speed it all plays back at?at the moment ive just got it on its own layer in the timeline.

IE Vs Mozilla
I have made a web page which has scrolling text in Flash. The page is displaying fine in Internet Explorer. However, the movie is not being displayed in Mozilla. Could somebody please tell me what change I can make to enable it to be displayed in Mozilla. The link to the page is

Mozilla And Xml
I have an application that uses sendAndLoad to request data via ASP pages from a SQL Server database. The request is sent using the 'POST' method, and the data is returned in an XML string. The XML is then parsed and the data displayed in the mc.

This works fine in IE, but appears to not function at all using Mozilla.

The data request is returned instantly with no results.

Has anyone had similar problems using Mozilla? I would like to make the app work in as many browsers as possible.

Works on IE perfectly.
When the user presses on one of the buttons, it loads another movie!

But on mozilla nothing happens...

After a horrible run in with one of my websites, I discovered that Mozilla Fire Fox is the devil. The bad habits I had picked up by always viewing my website in IE are now laughing at me. I fixed the one problem, but I like being proactive.

Could anyone give me a breakdown on the biggest differences between IE and Fire Fox, what needs to be considered with flash, and/or direct me to another post that may have discussed this. Would be dealy appreciated.

Friend of mine has a problem viewing his site in Mozilla Firefox. It's made in MX. I am going to have the same problem shortly as I kind of like a mix between dreamweaver and MX and my site needs a heavy redo.

Mozilla 1.3a & Opera 6.05
Okay, on one section of my website I have a mx compressed swf with no problems in either mozilla or opera. On another page I have a mx compressed swf that locks every time in mozilla, and locked the first time in opera, but worked after shutting the opera browser off and back on.

The swf with the problem, stops on the first frame. It loads in mozilla, runs some background animation (about 1 second) and then locks up. All buttons stop working and the animation( just text ) disappears. Except on Opera, it locks up but the text stays. It's not anytype of advanced animation or anything, very very basic.

I am opening the pages on a W2K sp3 machine all default. All browsers are set to default. I did a search here but couldn't locate any threads, any ideas? btw, works perfectly in IE6 & NN7.02.

P.S. I hate Opera , does anyone actually use this browser? If all my pages work flawlessly in IE and NN, should I even waste time on browsers that could not even exist tommorow?

I apologize for the similar post in site check but that isnt the proper place to get answers so I am moving the post here... apparently my clients website: www.hrprivacy.com appears very strangely on mozilla for unix, people have said that appears very small and that a user needs to manually zoom in to see it, I was curious if anyone knew how to fix this problem.

Okay... My site, mattbrandon.com, opens and the first two buttons work fine in Internet explorer. When I open it in Mozilla for the first time, it worked. Everytime after that the buttons didnt work. My Brother who lives across country opened it in mozilla and it worked, but the next day he tried again for me and it didnt work. It is not my cache, and apparently the site is working(because of IE) but why does it only work the first visit?

the website i made in flash mx is fine when viewed in any browser except mozilla firefox. in mozilla it appears really tiny, only taking up about 1/16 of the screen, whereas in other browsers it takes up the fullscreen. what causes this? is it mozilla, or something i'm doing wrong in flash? i'm a self taught flash user so any help would be greatly appreciated. there seems to be a growing amount of people using mozilla, so i'd like to get it fixed asap.

I have posted about this and searched like crazy for months. I have seen solutions but were nothing but bandaids that didn't help the problem.

Why does Mozilla browsers have problems loading dynamic images? My closest solution was to load all dynamic images and use the alpha or visible properties to display them. I can only use this method with limited images. I now want to use larger file sizes but my Mozilla users will have problems...

Any thoughts?

I have created a table on a page and inserted a flash file, all is ok in IE but in mozilla there appears to be a 2 or 3 pixel space below the flash file, i cannot find what is causing this.

I have even created a new blank page with just 1 table cell and the flash file inserted and still the same problem.

Mozilla Vs Ie Vs Ie 5.2.3 (mac)....loading
i threw together this splash for a friend but i am pc based and he is mac based and we are having issues...it loads in mozilla and in ie for a pc but only the html loads on mac ie 5.2.3 no swf....i added a .js code/file to eliminate the rollover state that ie adds with the new update ("....click to activate...")...could that be the problem? please help guys and girls...its bugging me...

I noticed that the website that I am working on www.thedengels.com will appear in most broswers nicely except mozilla. In mozilla it appears very small. Has anyone come across this? Any clue as to how to get it to look good in that browser? I am thinking it may have to do with the latest flash, or that fact that I scaled at a percentage. not sure.

it worked fine in internet explorer 6 but since I upgraded to IE7 it no longer functions properly. It works fine in mozilla.

I'm building a website and it works fine very nicely the only problem is when I try view it in Mozilla it crashes the program(done it once or twice in IE) it comes up saying something wrong with "flash8.ocx" Im new to flash so I have no clue and Im in a bit of a panic because I need to launch my website soon and lol it crashes out on all the mozilla viewers.

I have a flash webiste that I created (www.abjphoto.com). The only problem is that Firefox and Mac dont load the flash site. How can I get it where my page loads witih Mac and Firefox? It works on Internet Explorer. My concern is that this is my business and I dont want a Mac or FireFox user to go to my page, have it not load, and then bail. Does anyone know how I can make my flash .swf file page compatible with all internet providers?

i made some buttons via one tutorial in youtube and now when i implemented them to my website everything looks fine
as long as i am browsing with firefox. When i browse with IE.. i can't see the flash effects.. they are only several squares. when i am browsing with google Chrome i see only the first of 3 buttons :( can anyone tell me how to fix that so the buttons may be visible from all browsers ( sorry for my bad english its not my mature language))

I have a strange problem.I have a flash window survey which is coming over html pages.It is dynamically generated and will be over all the content in html page.We use div tag to get this done.We have wmode as transparent.IOt works fine in IE.Problem is with mozila.If a page contains another flash page(which is embedded into that page), our survey goes behind that flash content.Kind of depth issue.But if we set the wmode of that (embedded) flash content to transparent , it works fine.But we cant do that ..because we dont have any control over those pages..we just load the survey over the content..Please help us to resolve this issue.

Transparency In Mozilla 1.2.1 And Mac OSX
First, thanks for the help earlier! We ARE getting there! We can now see the Flash and part of the background. But it is NOT transparent in Mozilla (1.2.1) and MAC OSX. I know from searching the forum that Mozilla < 1.0 and MAC OS < 10 do not support transparency. We are up to date with current versions. Again all works well in Windows.

How can we make it, the flash, transparent and show the jpeg behind it? Tranparency is set in the index.html.

I made mousewheel available on my site, but it only works in IE i tried it in Mozilla and it doesn't work, my friend says also in firefox not working. Is there some way to make it work or it's just not available?

Mozilla Browser Problem?
I have created a simple mailform, with a cgi script in perl. The button that posts the variables has this script:

}

Problem is that this work fine in most browsers with the exception of Mozilla, running on linux slackware.
The mail is simply not sent...
From what I can understand this has nothing to do with the cgi script, but maybe something with the script assigned to the button.
Anyone who have experienced this before?

Forced Reload On Win IE, Not On MAC Or Win Mozilla
I'm having a Windows IE6 problem with Flash 6 and 7. Everything works fine on MAC OS9 and OS10 IE, Safari and Mozilla or Windows Mozilla.

I'm developing in Flash MX (6) on MAC OS9.1 and OS10.2.

PROBLEM:
- On IE6 on Win2000 and XP the artist page SWF starts loading itself and external JPG files that it calls in via loadMovie
- in some cases, not all, after the JPG(s) are loaded partially it jerks and reloads itself 1 or 2 times before finally settling down to display properly.
- this only happens before the files are cached.

The basic skeleton of the site structure is this:
- 1 main movie with nav button LOAD TEMPLATE
- the main movie loads in a generic artist swf into an empty MC as it finishes loading in; then it reloads the same file again for the next artist when you press LOAD TEMPLATE

Here's a simplified version of the main interface plus the artist page template. Test it on Win2000/XP and MAC or Win MOzilla to see the difference:

Make sure to hit LOAD TEMPLATE a few times (there are about 15 different artists) to cycle through enough times to see the glitch.

LoadMovie In Mozilla Firebird
Hi,

I've been testing my movie in Firebird (latest release for both the browser and plugin).

When I call loadMovie, occasionally the preloader will stop half way and then stall. But once I move my mouse the movie continues to load and everything is wonderful.

I'm not sure why this is happening. I use the basic preloader set up.

Any insight would be great.

Runs In Mozilla But Will Not Display
I created a Flash animation in Flash 5 for my Web site's home page, http://www.haberarts.com. I'm pretty clumsy and new at Flash. Still, on my home computer, it runs great under Windows 2000, both in Internet Explorer 5.5 and Mozilla 1.2.1. I view it there through the player that came with Flash 5.

At the office, under Windows XP, it runs great under IE 6.0. Paradoxically, however, at the office it seems to run and yet not display in Mozilla 1.5. On the one hand, it functions: the animation takes a user after the right amount of time (a few seconds) to my site's first interior page. However, nothing displays during these few seconds. This is sort of encouraging, since it appears that the html "object" is properly recognized, and yet it's invisible.

How can the animation function and not appear? I have, of course, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version (Flash 7) at the office in both browers. Thanks much,

Does Mozilla Treat Stylesheets Different To IE?
Downloaded Mozilla Firebird today, wanted to check how a site I'm working on looks on it.

There seems to be a gutter at the bottom of the screen and it seems to have missed the stylesheet too.

Mozilla Player - Different Behaviour
I have a project where my content movie clips are loaded into container in a base movie. Also, background images are loaded into background image container. All works fine in IE Flash Player, but in Mozilla it appears to ommit some parts, sometimes it does not load content movies, sometimes it does. I believe the problem might be in getBytesTotal/Loaded, but i am not sure.
Are there any known issues or workarounds?
