Whats Wrong With This Forum?
I've posted questions here queite a few times, and it used to be, i would have really prompt responses. This place was the bomb. Usually you would get inconsiderate idiots who would post a question asked several times before. And sometimes never been posted before. Either way, i think posting a question that has already been asked before isn't a sin. I've asked questions i've done searches on before and couldn't find it, primarily cause i may not know what you call the function that does it or for other reasons. But now we're at a point where people just dont answer questions. Im no pro, but if i stumble accross something that i can help answer for someone i do? I would like for some people that are pros with flash to post answers of why they dont answer some questions?

Whats Wrong With This Forum
What is the deal i cant ever see or post anything anymore what has happend. I post messages and get an email telling me someone has replied but i cant find them after i close the link. What is going on? Is anyone else having this problem. i guess i will never know sence i cant look at replies!

I have a login page on my site, and I want any submitted info going to a .txt file instead of my email. Basically people sign the guestbook and whatever they put submits to my email. How can I make it so that it goes to a txt file? Where each comment goes one after the other. For example

Hi, I posted a question
here yesterday asking about how to convert a Flash animation into a YouTube-ready format (.avi, .mov, .wmp, .mpg), and haven't gotten any responses. I'm brand-new to both Flash and this website, and so I'm not sure how this all works. It could be that I just haven't waited long enough for a response, but I have no way to tell if that's the case. Would someone be able to tell me if I haven't gotten any answers because
a) I didn't write my post correctly
b) my problem is a very difficult one and nobody does know the answer
c) I'm posting to the wrong forum
d) none of the above?

If I'm posting to the wrong forum (lots of the posts I've read here seem to be related to actionscript issues, and mine is definitely more graphics and rendering related), I'd like to know where is the appropriate place to ask for help.

Any response would be greatly appreciated!

if 'checkmark1' is visible then in textbox1 write 'yes'

I have a form with check boxes.

The boxes are buttons that have a when clicked make check mark visible. I want it so that when the check mark is visible to write in the corrisonding text box (dynamic right?) hte word yes.

So I can have the variable to be submitted with the form.

Good Site For Pixel Icons? (Maybe Wrong Forum?)
Does anyone know a site with fairly good Pixel Icons that are allowed to be used on websites freely? One's that would be useful to a web designer who is inept to making them haha. I'm looking for like computer type icons and office supply ones (paper, pens, staplers etc.).

I need to make Flash Windows screen saver. Can anyone give me some advice on what the best package out there is for the price? I just need to make a simple Windows screen saver app. I would like the software to handle Flash 5 AS at least, but preferably Flash MX AS.

Is My Whole Layout Just Wrong, Wrong, Wrong
I have uploaded my layout, I am starting to think that this is not how its done, I will explain.

I have one main swf where I have 5 diffrent section where I want to load 5 different swf into, but I also need one of the swf's which would be a button based one to be able to comunicate with the other 4. I totally think now tehre is an easier way of doing this than the way I'm doing it, can someone help me out here cos as you guy's know, the roots of a good page is in the layout at the begining.

I have uploaded my swfs so you know what I'm talking about.

And secondly related to flash in a way but also director and premier .....
does anyone know if there is anyway to include interactivity to a video?
E.G. I have a 5 minute movie and i want 2 hotspots too occur within it ....that will appear for 10 secs and disspappear therefore alerting the user to the fact that, that particular area is interactive which when clicked will take them to a new screen????
Anyone ever heard of it or know if it is possible?

Can youse let me know? even if there are any samples (websites of it being done before - how even if any body as any idea on how this may be created

I notice that a LOT of threads in the Flash MX Help Forum are "How do you do this?" And though that is a majority of question styles, do you guys think it would be useful to start a "TUTORIALS" forum thread?

Threads should follow format of "How to..."

ie,

"How to Tween Text"
"How to Make a Sound Stop Button"
"How to Make a DropDown Menu"

etc...

People could post links to tutorials, and maybe even some people could verify if they work or not, etc....

I have signed up for a free forum on a website. I have a website which I made with flash and I want to link the forum with my site. I saw a site but I don't remember the adress, but the person was using a free forum too and he made a link and when you go to the forum his NAVIGATION BARS stay there even if he linked it to another site. I’m having a real problem with a Forum.fla I’m trying to figure out that J Hill produced around summer 02... Flash 5 (attached).

I’ve followed the instructions, and everything is working fine, (really clear instructions!) except:
when i try to click on a message previously submitted, it does not load (just receive the "Loading..." text)

I’ve checked it over and over but can't find the problem...

(file permissions for folders are all set to 777
PHP and directory paths are set in the Fla.)

I think it maybe either something to do with the PHP script only taking into account the Global Variables are on (I really need them to be off) or the load variables in Flash needs changing? (MC: "dupButton")

I’m very new to PHP, and my Flash actionscript capabilities aren’t too great; but I’m learning!!

Any help will be very much appreciated

Hi,

I am building a site. I have all of the rollovers, and rollouts in place using Movie Clip Buttons. On the site, there will be the Home page (which I use the 2 logos to initiate the action to the home page) then I have 6 buttons on the menu bar.

Now, here is what I am having issues with, and it all lies in two seperate actions for the onRelease action. I have a pointer that I've created. When I go to one of the 6 menu bars and release one of the buttons, the pointer goes to it as it's supposed to, and then when I go to one of the logos (to go to the home page) the pointer goes off screen, as it's supposed to. My problem is when I go back and click on one of the menu bars after clicking on one of the logos, it doesn't come back unless I click twice, and then it just appears on screen.

The second issue, I am having issues with is in the same script, the onRelease and it has to do with my action not going to a scene when there is a release of the different buttons. I have been trying to figure out the hierarcy of my scenes, and I feel that I have it right, but it's not doing anything. Any thoughts would be appreciated. It is easiest to look at the scene then for me to write the actions, so I've provided a link.

Is The Forum Down Right Now
this site keeps freezing up on my system right now

I'm Not Sure If This Is In The Right Forum
I need to be able to create an eefect where the user can use a custom cursor to scratch off the panel.

What I mean is that there is a grey retengle on the movie which represents a silver panel like on a scratch card instance then with the custom cursor they can scratch it off just like you would with a coin on a normal scratch card.

i use this forum because you can get the help you need usually but i can't find a good dreamweaver forum. macromedia forum isn't that great. sorry this isn't flash related but it is flash kit help i'm looking for.
