Sound Out Of Sync Because Of Fps
Hey all,
I'm designing an intro for a gaming clan's website right now, and I've come across a little problem.
Watch it here: http://functioncore.net/intro_optimize.html
There's a sound near the end and it's rather long. It's sort of a "charging up" sound that when it ends, it's supposed to end precisely when the music beat kicks in. Instead, it will end a few seconds beforehand because my FPS of 30 cannot be met on any computer through a browser.
Obviously it's easy to sync when a sound starts to a frame, but when it ends? Not possible, is it?
Does anyone know of a workaround for this? Oddly enough, lowering the FPS to 20 doesn't even help this matter, and even more oddly, when I do 'Test Movie' in Flash and run it at a debug 'load' simulation to test the preloader, the same problem occurs.
I'm not really sure what's going on here, this is the first time I've actually worked extensively with sound in Flash, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sound Sync
Hello!
I am having a bit of a problem with a flash intro with accompanying sound. I have recently designed the sounds and sounds effects based on the visuals of the intro. I have assigned certain sounds to certain symbols.
On my computer, the sound syncronisation is fine. On other computers (which may or may not have the same power as mine) the sound sync is noticably out.
The URL of the intro is www.londonbydesign.co.uk
Does any one have any rules of thumb that spring to mind?
Thanks a lot for any help

Sound Out Of Sync
I have embedded a dialogue sound into a Flash movie I have created. The dialogue goes through en entire scene. Then the scene transfers to the next scene, and a new dialogue sound begins. I have all the animation on my computer synchronized to the dialogue, but when I play the Flash movie on another computer, the scenes end before the dialogue is over, and the entire movie gets out of sync. Is there a way to either publish the movie on one speed that runs the same on every computer? Or do I need to add some sort of actionscript at the end of the scene to tell it not to end until the dialogue sound is over?
How would I resolve this?

Out-Of-Sync Sound
I have a problem. I'm trying to get a long sound file (1 minute WAV) to sync along with an animation. However, when I try to run it at 24kbps and test the movie, the WAV file starts several seconds too soon in spite of it's perfect placement on the timeline. And when I try it at any other kbps, it cuts out one second into the animation. Can anybody help me?

Sync Sound
I have a sound clip that dynamically loads and loops using the following actionscript:
bgSound = new Sound(this);
bgSound.loadSound("train_to_catch.mp3", true);
stopB._visible=false;
bgSound.onSoundComplete = function() {
bgSound.loadSound("train_to_catch.mp3", true);
}
The only problem is the animation begins just a few seconds before the audio starts. Is there a way to sync the animation and sound so that the animation will become visible and begin at the same time the streaming audio begins to play? Thanks in advance for any help.

Help Sound Sync
well, I've been working on this flash at 40fps.. and everything was going smoothly until it was time to import the sounds. when I aligned the sound with the action, and tested the movie, the sound would always come before the action. I found out that I had to move the sound 600 frames after the action to make it sync.
I don't want to reduce my frame rate and I really don't want to re-tween everything (it takes so long and is a very tedious process). Does anybody know how to fix this without killing the current state of my flash movie?

Sync'ing Sound?
OK, i'm kinda new to flash, I meen, i've been trying it for ages, but never became really good.
So, i've tryed some lip-syncing, and it all works perfectly in preview and if I export it to a video file.
However, if I export it to an SWF file, it goes out of sync.
I say out of sync; the animation seems to be playing OK, and the sound does, however the sound seems to have speeded up by a few miliseconds, meening that it starts out OK but after few sentances its awfull.
Now, i'm thinking this is either something with too many objects at once causing the animation to slow down, or the animation not syncing the music properly during export.
Going through the help section in flash didn't help at all. It mentions two types of music embedment, one of which pervents syncing, but I don't know wether im using that method or not. It's really confusing...
Any help?

Flv Sound Sync
I'm importing a QT video into Flash Library and then exporting it as a flv.
I have two issues. I can't check the video sound sync in the flasdh authoring environment because no sound plays!
Secondly and MORE IMPORTANTLY, when excported, the flv sound track goes out of sync with the video track! by about 5 seconds or so!!!
Its a big video... 720x576 at 25fps. The flv comes out at about 4mb.
Anyone know a solution to this? Maybe I should use a trial download of After Effects and use the flv plugin. But I'd rather be able to export flv from Flash that are actually in sync!!!
Thanks for any help.

sorry for my bad english.

Attach Code
this.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, appPlaying);
function appPlaying(e:Event):void {
if(this.currentFrame == 5) {

My movie goes out of sync with the sound even though it's set to stream. I've tried lowering the quality, I've tried adding the 1 second time delay i read in one thread, i tried putting each sound in a different scene, ive tried everything.
I wont be needing a preloader for this becuase ill be playing it straight of the computer so pre loading the sound wont help.

Sound Does Not Sync
hello,
my flash is 15000 frames, no scenes.
at first audio would not sync properly upon upload to the web only.
i removed ALL the sound, created a separate layer for each mp3 (about 50-70 of them) and added each to its own layer and set them all to STREAM.
now upon upload to the web only, the sound plays WELL in advance. we're talking 100 frames before it should, even though it's just fine when i do "test movie" in the program.
someone help me out please...
thanks.

Trying To Sync Sound With Mp3 Object
I'm trying to build a flash slideshow template that will allow users to use actionscript to streamline the production process. Theoretically this would be a one frame fla (no tweens all action script)
What I am hoping to be able to do is to load the sound as an MP3 object rather than an aiff or wav. This way we have much more control over the quality of the mp3.
The producer would then load all the pictures and use a txt file that would have the times of the picture transitions.
isn't there some sound attribute that allows you to synch events to a certain time after the audio starts?
Thanks in advance.

I've got a very irritating problem. I've got a movie using 24 FPS.. when I want to sync sound, flash just ignores me, It plays the sound a couple of seconds earlier, even when I stream the sound.
When I make the same movie @ 12 FPS everything is fine, sound sync's like I want to... And I can create perfect sound timing...
Can anybody please tell me why this doesn't work with 24 FPS ????
I'm not a Flash beginner, but I always used 12 FPS movies.
I'm using Flash 5 on a XP 1900+ with 256 MB DDR, Geforce 3.
So I think It isn't my config.

Sound Sync Problem
This problem has me boggled. I want a sound to play at frame 499. No big deal, right? I just add a keyframe and set it to play the sound. I've done it a million times.
For some reason, the sound keeps playing before the rest of the movie gets to frame 499. All the sounds before that play exactly at the right time. The last sound before that is at 336. I have all the sounds on their own layer.
My fix right now is to add a bunch of empty frames on the sound layer so that the sound in question is supposed to play at 636. Placed there, it plays just right. I've tried changing it from event to stream and back again, and I've tried changing it so that the sound is streamed on a different layer where an animation is taking place. No luck.
Has anyone run into this problem before? Is there any kind of fix besides having more frames than needed? What causes this?

Sound Sync Question
Everyone who is familiar with adding sounds to their Flash projects/websites are also familiar with the problem with the sounds being "off-sync" on other platforms (Macs are a HUGE offender here).
Are there any tips or workarounds to help prevent this? Should I "bind" the sound to the associated animation it is supposed to go with with Actionscript in order to keep things in sync over all platforms? If so, how?
Thanks in advance for any advice and/or help.

Sound Out Of Sync With Movie
Hey all..
I'm having a problem with a Flash movie I'm working on. The movie is pretty long (about 12 minutes), and I'm having problems with the sound effects. After the movie has been playing for a few minutes, the sound will begin to fall out of sync with the animation. As the movie goes on, it gets worse and worse. However, I found that if I pause the movie, and then unpause it, the sounds will be re-synced with the movie. So what I have to do is pause the movie every few minutes to keep the sound aligned with the animation.
So is there any way to prevent this from happening? I was thinking of using Actionscript to pause and unpause the movie at certain points, but I don't know much about scripting so I don't know how to do that, if it's even possible. So hopefully someone here with more knowledge can help me out. Thanks in advance...

Yet Another Sound Sync Question...
Ok, I know we have all been through this a hundred times but here's the deal.
I have seen a lot of flash movies that have an entire song playing in sync with the animation (3-4 minutes in length). I know that the song is Not 'Streamed', because the quality is way too good. These are huge movies, sometimes over 30-40MB in size.
I had an idea to try to build the movie with audio set to stream so I could lineup my images correctly, easy enough. But then delete the sound layer so I would be left with just the animation that matches the audio. Save this and publish.
Then make a new movie with just the audio, same Fps, same everything as the other. Set the audio to 'start' or 'event', then save and publish.
Now, start another new file with just a button that will load both the movies. In theory these should have the exact same properties, same fps, same number of frames ect... and they do!
So why when I test the button do they not match? The audio quality is there but the sync is not.
I want to know how to do this with flash only. No third party ware. I know it can be done but I still cannot get it right.
I've read all there is to know about sound in flash and everything says 'Stream' if you want sync. Well, I've seen and heard differently.
(flash mx)
Anyone tried the 'Nullsound' technique. This is streaming a .1 sec wav file (looped the length of the movie). And setting the real audio track to 'event'. In theory 'fooling' the movie settings.
Anyone?
Thanks,
Mike

Sound And Animation Sync
I am making a quick demo, and thought I was finished. Everything was perfect, until I published. The animation ran much slower than the sound did in a browser, and doesn't match up any more. Sounds horrible because I used a loop for music and then play another loop for the outro, they have to match up.
I thought the problem was frame rate, I had fps a bit high, and am now running it at 20fps (Still too high?) and I am getting the same problem. Should I post the .fla? (It's 2Megs)
Any ideas?

Sound Sync Problem :-(
I make cartoons in flash and I keep running into this problem with stream sounds. When playing them, the animations start out fine and all the sounds occur when they are supposed to, but then later in the cartoon the sounds fall out of sync and no longer line up with the characters mouths and so forth. This problem is extremely frustraiting and I can't figure out how to fix it or work around it. Several people have emailed me that have run into the same problem. Is there a way to keep the stream sound synced up throughout the whole cartoon?
I've read the FAQ in the sounds section of this bbs and it knows about this problem and suggests you you put the play(); command peridically throughout animation to realign the sounds. This doesn't work for me. are there any other ways to fix this problem?
please hook me up with some knowledge. I'm dying over here!

Sound Going Off Sync Even With Stream
i've been working on this movie, and when i first started working on it, the sound synced perfectly. but 4810 frames later, it just stopped syncing properly. the sound is late by like 2 seconds. i have every sound set to 'stream'; so i don't know what's going wrong. The scenes with the sounds aren't grapcially intensive, either. I have a streamed song going in the background throughout the part where the sound goes off sync, if that has anything to do with it, anyways. the sound is only off sync when you're watching the published version.
i have no idea what's going wrong, the only way I thought sound could go off sync in flash if you put the sound to 'start' or 'event', but i guess not :| some help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sound Refuses To Sync
Hello everyone!
I'll jump right to the point.
I'm making a fairly simple cartoon for a client's upcoming website. I'm still a bit new to Flash MX. Right now I've completed all my scenes with characters, speach bubbles and the such. However, as soon as I reach my fourth scene, the sounds goes out of sync. I am not using one long wav file either. I have quite a few that I insert at designated frames. I set them all to Stream. I've tried setting them to Start, Event and even Stop. But nothing.
I've done a smaller cartoon before where I have a sound begin at any point I want. And it manages to play just fine. However, this is no longer the case. The SWF file just insists that it plays the sounds even two to three scenes AHEAD of where I set it to play.
I've become very lost, confused and a little frusterated since my deadline is approaching and I did not expect to encounter this problem. If anyone knows, please, let me know.
Thank you kindly,
Rob
Edit: Two other things. I am working off a PC, not a Mac, if that actually matters. The other, I just tried exporting as an AVI. That does work, but it also makes the file 250+mb. Unpractical. I need it as an SWF.

However, when I publish the file as .swf the fade (alpha) disappears and the text boxes jump on and off the stage. More alarmingly, the sound gets progressively out of sync with the animation as it progresses.
