Hi, I've searched flashkit with no luck so far trying to find small special effects that I can put into my flash movies such as film dust scratches, horizontal line animations, etc. Anyplace I can find therse small effects to place in my larger movies?

Special Effects?
are there any tutorials for special effects on buttons in Flash? i.e.- a fade-in text box, a slide from an action of clicking on a button, or spinning objects due to clicking on something? How can I learn these things?

Hello to everyone,
I have already posted this to another forum in Flash Kit - but I am not sure if I posted in the right forum. I have a question about a special effect in Flash
I came across a site that had a very nice effect in which I have no idea how they did this. The site is http://www.focusonfinance.nl/ I was hoping someone could help me figure out how they did the effect of how the pictures come in with this light. Each link that you click on or page you go to a new picture comes up - but with this awesome light that brings it in. Does anyone know how to begin to even do this? Please help!!

Special Effects With ActionScript?
I was wondering if someone can help me with. If you could have a look at this site's intro:

I was wondering if it is possosible to make an actionscript to make those effects in the intro of the dpa.co.uk site. But have some sort of a template so that if I every change or add new text in my site I don't have to do a lot of changes or add new code to my fla file. In other words if I add a new word or letters to my library I can just apply an actionscript with those effects to the words or letters. I hope I have explained myself clear enough. So I am wondering if this is possible? if yes How?

Special Transition Effects
Hi,
Having started using Flash a week or 2 ago and trying all kinds of effects, i was wondering how people do those nifty drop down curve mask effects i see here and there. Since i cant even draw a perfect curve using the design tool (do i just suck, or can it be done ? , i figured it had to be coded. So using actionscript (lineTo(), curveTo(), ...) i tried to mimic the effect.
Needless to say this way leaves little room for doing extra tween effects or little tweaks. I cant imagine this is the way to go, as flash seems more of a design tool then a coders tool.
So how DO others do it ? Same as me, or are they using something else then Flash ? (i checked out swish, but it didnt seem to be able to do shape tweens).

[F8] Special Effects - Motion
I have a vector graphic of a flag on a pole. I want the flag to move as though the wind was blowing. Does anyone know if this can be done with a special FX in Flash?
Or if you have any other suggestions on another way to accomplish this, without spending thousands on software, I'd sincerely appreciate it. The flag is below... many thanks.

Using Functions For Special Effects
Hey,
I am making a script to flick through some images in an album.
The location of the images are written in an xml file, which is read by the script.
Then the script displays each image with a 3 second delay between images.
So far i have everything working.
I want to be able to have a user controlled transition effect between images.
eg, in the xml file they can say they want a fade in/out effect or swipes or they want it to grow from nothing to full size.
I was wondering how i would be able to do this, would i read the effect name and call a function or what??

I've been playing with your excellent snowflakes tutorial, but i was wondering if there was a way to make the snowflakes fall behind other objects?
I place like boxes.etc on the layers above the snowflakes / code yet when i text / make movie they flakes always appear over the top, any ideas?

What's This Special Effects Called?
Hi, I had visited some cool flash sites and seen some of the sites start initially a blank page and then we could see the drawing/illustrate in action. So what this technique called? Is it an advanced masking technique or they are using drawing API comes with Flash MX for this?

If you look at the the street lights at the top they draw the outline and then the image fades in.

Special Text Effects
Theres a few text effects that I've seen that are very cool.
1. The words drop down and bounce, each lettter individually
2. text letters appear 1 after another, like a typewrigher
Is threre a tutorial anywhere on how to do this stuff, I know how to do it the long frustrating way(Making a movie clip for the text and indivudually editing every movement) but is there a better way to do these?

Newbee & Special Effects, Please Help
I was trying to create a 3 (or 2?) frame movie (has just 2 photos like the one I saw on the header at this page http://www.athinapalace.com/main.html (top left) with the same effect (sort of white lines moving across on the 1st frame and the box effect on the second frame), can some one help me with some advice and how I can achieve this?
However, I would like my movie to loop infinitely, the one on this page I guess stops after loading.

Special Effects - Smash Through Glass
I was watching the xiao xiao movie (see link below), and I was wondering how to recreate an effect that's in it. It's where the stickman jumps through a glass window (it's about 3/4 of the way through the movie).
I tried recreating it with motion/shape tweening - firstly drawing the scene, then when the camera moves round the window I moved the position of the scene and skewed it at an angle. But the problem with doing that is that it does not fill the whole of the stage. And you can't edit it as it will edit the first part of the tween aswell.
Secondly, when the glass actually smashes, I have no idea how to go about it.
Any ideas?

Using Flash For Special Effects In Movies
I have made a movie with my friends and was wondering if it is possible to do some of the lasers and flashes in Flash and then play them over the real movie. Is there any way to make the stage invisible and have Flash play over the live movie? Is there anything Flash can do to aid a live movie? Or am I just dreaming an this is impossible? Thanks guys.

I realy dont get whole picture how others out there doing sometning that is so good for the eyes. These special image manipulation effects is sometnihg that i never try within flash.
Point out good url, tutorials, description how to do, etc... i didnt find much on FK. What else is possible to do with static image.jpg when is in flash.

Tutorial For A Slide Show With Special Effects In MX
Hello:
I am looking for a tutorial on a Flash MX slide show. I want the picutres to load almost instantly as at the following url:

The only problem with this slide show is that at the end, it goes to a cream slide before starting over. Is there a way of making a slide show seamless at the point where it repeats?
I have the instructions for building this slide show. It almost does what I want..fades into the first slide, then dissolves into the next and so on. BUT, when it goes to the end of the sequence, it abruptly jumps to the start again. That ruins the effect! I am half way through Lynda Weiman's book and have done the slide show in it but what I am looking for is something a bit more artistic and without control buttons.

Why Is Cgi-bin Special?
I have a server side perl script running in the cgi-bin directory that returns html to the client. It embeds a flash object with the standard <object> and <embed> tags. The HTML is received correctly by the client, but the flash object does not display.
If you save the received page as static html, it displays just fine, so the syntax is correct. Obviously saved someplace other than the cgi-bin directory, as it is not readable, generally.
Once the html is returned to the client, how can the rendering be different from a static html page? I'm saying that if you do "view source", once from the returned html and once from the static page, you see no differences, whatsover. The only difference is the URL of the page. When "cgi-bin" is in the URL, the object does not display.

Special Characters
I was wondering if anyone has encountered any creative ways for getting around using special characters in dynamic text fields. Specifically, getting text characters into Flash isn't a problem, but (using a third party extra) saving that info to a text file creates significant problems because the literal character is saved (or not depending on which character it is) to the text file and then won't appear on a reload. Aside from creating our own save utility (which we're working on), have you ever run across this scenario or heard of workarounds for this?
