I found it is so hard to unerstand the conception of Level, what is the difference between level0 and level2? what is the difference between lavel and layer? the difference between level0 and level2 is likely the difference between parent and son?

Load Movie Conception ?

the only thing that I want to know
from where I should post my perloading scene for external MC
is it in the main movie
or in the external mc itself ?
Level 0 Loads A Movie Into Level 1 - Buttons On Level 0 Still Appear To Be Active Underneath
I am working on an interactive cd. My main movie plays in level 0 and clicking on an option loads the relevant movie into level 1.
The problem I have is that the main movie's buttons are still active underneath and if you click on the wrong place in the movie on level 1 it jumps to a new movie because of the button below.
Is there a way to somehow deactivate these while there is a movie playing above?

Can Anyone Teach Me How To Use SetInterval?
Hi folks,
I came upon setInterval script while checking the Flash MX Dictionary. But the explanation there is so rigid and limited that I just don't have any idea how to use it.
I think we can use this script to create a period of interval between animation or movies, instead of creating a tremendous amount of frames?
Can anyone help me with this, because I kept doing this silly method of creating interval by making many empty frames in between animation.

Is There Anything That Will TEACH Me Actionscripting?
Alright...Every single tutorial I have ever seen on actions always says: "here, copy and paste my actionscript and then flash will do such and such" but they never go through the steps and tell me what the language means and how to use it in other ways....I understand that copying and pasting other peoples actionscript is a fast way to get the results you want without doing the work yourself, but I want to actually LEARN the language of actionscripts so I can do things myself....Is there anywhere I can learn this???!!! I don't want you to give me a list of tutorials, becuase even the begginer one's on this site and others that deal with actions ALWAYS say "put the following script in a certain spot"..
I think you can understand my frustration. What I want is somebody to tell me first what the individual actions due...and then show me how you put them together into the big picture...I don't just want the big picture...I want everything in between. Those guyz had to learn from someone right? It's not possible to copy/paste someone else's actionscript and teach yourself.

Random Duplication Of MCs ...teach Me
Need some help with this one...
I want an MC to appear randomly on the screen, say about five at any given moment, and then scale down to nothing as to disappear.
Used the duplicate feature like once in flash before,...i know, i know, but here I am asking for help so teach me and I shall know and never ask again.
Here's what I got so..

Button Actions: Which Way To Teach?
Ive been teaching beginners to use Flash, and now the school has got a new version: Flash MX 2004 Professional.
When we still had the old version installed you had to write button actions by attaching the script to the button and writing something like this:
on(press){
play();
}
Now with the new Flash player and FlashMX 2004 you can give buttons and movie clips instance names and refer to them from a frame action like so:
buttonGo.onRelease = function(){
play();
}
I am teaching absolute beginners who are not interested in becoming developers, which version should I teach them? Or should I teach them both?
I can see that the new way is more convenient as all of the script can now be placed in the frame and you dont have to hunt for it in a button. But are there still any advantages for using the old way?
Is it easier to understand, or is the old way easier to understand, from a beginner point of view?
Sams Teach Yourself In 24 Hours
Well, I was just givein this "Sams Teach Yourself Flash Mx Actionscript in 24 Hours" By: Gary Rosenzweig. Ive read through some of the chapters and it looks well written and explained. But before I dive into it I wasnt sure if this book was about AS 1.0 or 2.0? The book doesnt say wether its etheir and I checked online through the books ISBN # but didnt get any useful information. Has anyone here heard of this book and know wether it explains AS 1.0 or 2.0

Using Flash To Teach Algebra
Suppose you were interested in creating an algebra tutor in flash.. Focusing on the topics: 1)Simplyfing Expressions and 2) Changing the subject of the formula. How would you implement a section where the program would give the user a question and the user would answer in a set of steps designated in the program flash ...then the program would check it to see if it matches with what it has.?

How To Use Google To Teach You Flash :)
As some of you know, google has started to attempt to awnser questions for you. If you type in "What is a widget" it will check different sources to find the awnser. I learned today that it will help you with flash too, today I did not know what a certain function did that I saw on a tutorial, and figured I'd try looking for tutorials on the net that might explain what the function does and how to use it. I didn't find anything by just googling the function, so I tried typing the searchterm "function definition" and google linked right to the source in macromedia's dictionary. Pretty nifty, eh?

1) Why do you load into a blank mc and then load into a level?
Why not just load it into a level if that is where it is going to end up?

Teach A Newbie How To Make Music
Hello, I'm new to swish max and I've only only been using it for us a few weeks now. I only learned the basics using swish 2.0, but with everyone help here on the board, you all have really made me look like a pro. After all this time using swish 2.0 I should have how to place musice to my movies, but I never did, I was actually a little intimidated. But I really would like to know if there a use friendly freeware that I can use to create whatever I need to put music on my site. Can you offer some suggetions, first being what kind of software, then how to use music from my CD to either use an entire song or make a loop of a certain part of a song, then how to place it in my movie.
I Need A Book That Will Teach Me Flash Web Design
Well as the title hints i need a book that helps me learn step by step website design in flash. I have a basic understanding of flash and how to use it, and have produced functioning websites but nothing to publish. basically i sat on my computer for hours last summer messing around with flash design and picking up things here an there. However, i don't want to mess around anymore and i would like to desgin my mum an antiques website for her business but sadly lack the knowledge to do so. Like mentioned i have a basic knowledge so possibly wouldn't need anything too basic, but something that would allow me to progress at design and grasp actionscript would be great. just wondered if anyone here has done a similar thing. i was a member of Lynda.com last year and learnt quite a bit. I have aso looked on Amazon but it's all a bit in your face and everything seems to be the same. anyone with a good book to reccomend???

It gives me an error, cant load picture.jpg. Which is very wrong, there is no picture titled like this. You probably guessed from code that i have thumbs and big pictures.
Thumbs are loaded "thumbs/picture" from this directory.Big pictures are loaded from this directory "big/picture". Thumbs are loaded, first picture is loaded.
How can i do it so when you clikc certain thumbs big picture is loaded in to the moveclip "_root.square.stage" ?
What do i do wrong ? Is there a better way for this gallery.
I know there are some nice free galleries, components and stuff. I want my own.
