Hi!!
First of all I REALLY want to thank everybody who answers these questions, no matter how stupid they may be! My boss actually thinks I know something about Flash!! All I know is this great forum, and you all have been a great help.
Having said that, here goes another stupid question.
I have placed a text box (with some small text in it) in a movie. In the the paragraph panel I chose to "justify" my text. The text aligned it self and looked good, but when I published the movie as HTML it got aligned left only! Is there a simple way to produce a justified text in HTML?

XML And Text Alignment
Hi,
I am reading data in from an XML file and then want to display this data on my page. I have 5 values coming in from the XML that I want to display in 5 buttons. I have the values coming into the buttons but the text aligns to the left of the buttons even though on each of my buttons I have
Group1_btn.setStyle("textAlign", "center");
this problem only seems to happen when I am hitting the XML file on a server. When I use the same XML file on my local machine it works perfectly
Any ideas? It seems it just aligns it to the left because im reading it in from the XML on the server

I'm trying to justify (block alignment) my text in a dynamic text field. When designing in Flash it looks ok but when I view the movie in Microsoft Explorer the text is aligned to the left. Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it.

I am using Flash MX 6.0
When I create a dynamic text box I can assign full justification to my text.
When I test the movie it automatically aligns the text on the left of the box.
Does Flash not fully justify text in a dynamic text box?
If there is a way of getting around this, please let me know.

Anyone know an alignment tag that works in dynamic HTML text boxes? I need to right align a line of text. <div> doesnt work and <p> aligns everything right, doesnt stop with the </p> tag.
Text Alignment When It Has A Link
I have a static text block whose alignment is set as justified. It happens though that whenever I add a link to one of the words in that text block, the text is shown left-aligned in run-time. While I'm editing the FLA file it shows justified, but when I run the movie the text comes out left-aligned.
I tried using a dynamic text block and an input text block in order to assign them a variable or an instance name and, through action script, change the text block alignment properties in run-time but it wasn't really successful (I can't add links to those text fields).
Anybody to help me out?
I'd appreciate that.

Text Alignment Problem
I am trying to put my resume into a scrolling text box in Flash (dynamic text box). I want some of the resume center-aligned and some of it left-aligned. When I set it up this way in Flash, then test it, the text is all center-aligned (or left) and not how I set it out. Can I only use one type of alignment in a dynamic text box?

Text Alignment Problems
Ever since I've been working in Flash there has been a particular problem that's been giving me quite a lot of headaches: most of the time text alignment just won't work properly.
Whether I'm using static or dynamic text, it always looks ok in the work area, but when i publish the movie the text alignment is almost always reset to left alignment.
I've been having this problem for quite some time now, but I can't find any solution on the internet - apparently I'm the only one having these problems...
This is the project I'm currently working on: http://dhost.info/gringodiaries - and it would look a lot better if i could get the text aligned properly...

Could anyone point me to a tutorial on this or some resources? That would be greatly appreciated.

Text Alignment Issue. Anyone?
If I have a textfield (static), and it is multi-lined, let's say two lines and the first line is numbered, how do I get the second line to line up with the first letter in the first line rather than the number. For example:
1. The chicken crossed
the road.
How do I get the "t" in "the" on the second line to line up with the "T" in "The" on the first line?

Text Alignment Problem
When using justified in flash 2004 for a textbox, it doesn't do a great job. Left is ok, but right is just horrible. Is there any way to get a good justified alignment? Is it possible to get a "justified last left" like in photoshop?

to the Dynamic Text? In the source code, it gets changed to the justified alignment but after publishing, it doesn't get reflected.

TextField Text Middle Alignment ?

I know I can make text appear in the center of the text box by using the 'Center Justify' button.
Can I also make my text appear in Center/middle alignment ? that is centered not only horizontally but also vertically ? can HTML tags be used for that?

Dynamic Text Alignment Problem
Right, Ive made a Flash movie that uses dynamic text boxes, so that I can edit results via text files, I have three columns in this file, position, name and score, meaning that I tab across to get the text neatly aligned in the text file.
Then when I go and check in the Flash player, they are not aligned, meaning that they actually have to be mis-aligned in the .txt file, which is 1) annoying and 2) time consuming, since you have to keep checking the file every time you enter a score.
Does anyone know of a way to get the two to coincide, I have been told that they are not compatable by one person, but was wondering if anyone knew of a way round the problem.

for a new line works when I set a variables text within flash, but it does not work when flash loads a variable from XML.
Example:

Is there something I can do that is similar to
that will give me one new line at a time. Every Carriage Return entered in the XML node displays two new lines for the output.
I would use the <li> tag and set the text fields to accept HTML, but that does not seem to work with embedded characters. If the characters are embedded the text field does not fade in and fade out. WHAT CAN I DO TO ACHEIVE THIS FROM XML?????

Scrolling Text And Button Alignment
hi. i have a movie clip that contains a dynamic text box and a series of buttons that are supposed to be over the text. i have a scroll bar that is connected to the movie clip which allows both buttons and the text to scroll simultaneously.
the problem is... while both text and buttons are aligned on the stage.. when exported and tested... they no longer line up as they should. is there anyway around this? is there anyway to fix this? has anyone ever experienced this? thanks in advance.
Change Text And Maintain Alignment
Hi.. I'm very new to flash and actionscript and I was looking for some help with some code that I picked up in my searches.. The code creates a web2.0 looking button with just actionscript.. I've modified it a bit to accept flashvars so I can use one MC for many buttons on a page... and that part works well.
My issue is the Hover effect (which changes the text..thats good) and how the hover text is aligned. I would like the text to be centered horizontally and vertically, even if the text contains mulitple lines.

Text AutoSize Alignment Problem

Here i m Facing a Crazy Problem with Dynamic Text AutoSize.
I am having a fontStyle in my Library. I would like to set that font style to my Dynamic Text.
Everything is working fine.
When i use autosize="center" End of the Text is getting cutted at some point
the same Font Style and Text format if i use autosize="left" it displays correctly. Does any one know why this happens?

Text Alignment Within Textbox [Flash 8]
Is it possible to vertically align text within a textbox? I have a movieclip that consists of a single dynamic textbox set for multiline. Some of the instances of that movieclip will have one line of text, others will have two. For the ones that have one line, I would like the text to align vertically within the textbox. All of these movieclips end up getting rotated 90 degrees to become labels at the top of a chart and it looks bad when the single-line text isn't centered.
If this isn't possible, is there a way to auto-size the box height so I could use AS to retrieve that height then move the movieclip appropriately?

Dynamic Text Alignment Problem
I put together a simple website for a restaurant and was using dynamic text to load the lunch and dinner menus. The text files loaded ok but will not align.
For instance, I want this code

I can't find any way to align this, I've tried to use the align right property for the cost but it aligns the entire line.
I'm not brilliant at this so if there is a simple solution to this I would be very grateful to hear it.

Copy Paste And Plain Text Alignment
Everyone is probably already aware of this, but I just learned about it yesterday.
I have been having trouble getting my text to maintain Plain Text formatting when I copy/pasted text into Flash.
The text I copied into Flash did not maintain the same spacing as the source I was copying it from.
The solution.. Use Courier Font. That is all it took. As soon as I used Courier, the spaces and format was maintained.
Just thought I would share since I was pulling my hair out re-aligning my text everytime I pasted text into Flash.
Adding Links Screws Up Text Alignment?
i tried adding a 'links' section to the site. i used clean static text paragraph, added lines of text, highlited them, added hyperlink, chose the _blank frame for opening. on stage everything looks fine, but when i export the movie, text alignment of the whole paragraph screws up.

Dynamic Text Field Goes Out Of Alignment In Netscape
I have been working on a personal website and have run into a little problem. I've done some searching and found that others have had similar problems, but I haven't found a resolution yet. I have a dynamic text field that contains a scroll bar. If you view the swf with ie there are no problems. However, if you view with netscape, the text field and scroll bar (which are both contained in the same movieclip) become shifted upward about 400 pixels or so. Does anyone know how to fix this? You can check it out if you would like here. The site is still under constructio, so not all of the buttons work yet. The text field in question is on the resume page. If my buttons have various labels and some longer than others, and I want to display them on the stage in sequence below each other all at the same width. How would I set the text to be aligned left to tidy up the design and stop everything from being centered.

Alignment Of Image In Dynamic Text Box FlashMX2004

I have a dynamic text box in with HTML set to true. I am calling the image path from an external (.txt) file. The problem is when i set the variable in this way " &var=Hi <img src='myimg.jpg'>this is my image. " into the txt file and test my movie. It shows
"Hi this is my text in the same line and the image below the text".

Swf Alignment
Is there anyway to get an SWF to fit exactly (no margins) into an html page? The only way I have been able to do this is to place the SWF into a layer. Otherwise I can get it to fit with a approx. 1/8 inch margin. Should I be happy with this? I really want an exact fit.
