Music And Speech Software
Hi... I was wondering if anyone can direct me to some software that will let me create music for my flash movies. I've written music with MOD and S3M writers several years before in DOS, but I'm looking for some new stuff.
Also, if anybody knows a good program for creating syntesized speech (like a robot or Steven Hawking talking) I'd love to know about it. It's a plus if the software can let me adjust the voice and output to WAV or MP3.
Thanks is advance for any help!

Text To Speech?
Hello all,
I've tried doing some flash coding years ago and i want to try it again for this new ambitious thing i thought off
One of the first things i need to know (and i guess i have been away for some time!) How can i make someone enter text (EG a name) and then hear it online back(probably as a streamed MP3)?
I heard this is possible, but which application/program/package do u need to do something like this in Flash? Are there (reasonable) easy to use standards for this?
Maybe even Open Source?
Hopefully someone out there struggled with the same problem before.....I have no idea where to begin!
Thanks for reading,

I heard that you can use Microsoft's Text-to-Speech generator to add voices for Flash movies. I checked the SPEECH icon in the control panel and it just gives me a preview. How do I use it and turn it into a sound file to import into Flash? Thanks.

Text-to-speech In Macromedia MX?
I've heard from many sites that MX has new accessibilty options.. and one of them was the text-to-speech function.. and i was wondering if it was possible to create a form type thing, basically just an application and the user inputs words, and whatever he types in for example
he types in "Macromedia MX rules!" (or whatever else he wants to say) in the form, and then he clicks a button, and it automattically says "macromedia MX rules!" out loud..
You've probably heard of this before, the text-to-speech has been popular for a long time now.. but i'm thinking of new ideas and heard about this in flash.. so my question is, is it possible?

Dynamic Text To Speech
I'm trying to create an educational tool which reads a series of words from an XML file and will display each word in turn and then read it out. I realise I'll need a text-to-speech engine but which one? And does it need to sit on the client PC or the web server? If the former how can I get the application to work on Mac and Linux as well as Windows? If I choose one text-to-speech engine I am I wedded to it till death us do part or is it easy to change engines?
Any pointers to get me on the right road would be appreciated. Thanks :)
Dynamic Text To Speech

This is a little test page I've been working on. It will take the text you enter and generate an mp3 based on it(it could easily be put into a flash file).
As an extra bonus today, it was also read the text you enter aloud *off my computer in my office*. That's right, anything you enter into that textfield will go straight to the indusblue office, so be nice Just kidding, say whatever you want.
I'll probably only keep it up for a little bit, as it's partly just a stress test to see how well it works, as we've got some sweet ideas for it in our new website.

Text To Speech In Flash
Does anyone know how to dynamically create speech at runtime?
I've had a look around the web and come up with nothing.
Any thoughts? At all?
[WPF/.NET 3.0] Simple Text-to-Speech App
You can test it out here: http://www.kirupafx.com/ItSpeaks/publish.htm (FFClickOnce if you are running FF). Btw, the application does not require .NET 3.5. Version 3.0 is good enough:
The code is pretty straightforward. The XAML is:
Code:
<Window
xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2...l/presentation"
xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"
xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2006" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/ma...atibility/2006" mc:Ignorable="d"
x:Class="ItSpeaks.Window1"
x:Name="Window"
Title="Speech Synthesizer"
Width="361" Height="159" Icon="sound.png" ResizeMode="NoResize">
<Window.Background>
<LinearGradientBrush EndPoint="0.5,0.975" StartPoint="0.5,0.025">
<GradientStop Color="#FF0D3743" Offset="0"/>
<GradientStop Color="#FF8CD0F0" Offset="1"/>
</LinearGradientBrush>
</Window.Background>
<Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot">
<TextBox Margin="33,52,93.447,49.04" x:Name="whatToSay" Text="" TextWrapping="Wrap" d:LayoutOverrides="Height" FontSize="18" FontWeight="Bold"/>
<Button HorizontalAlignment="Right" Margin="0,52,15.377,49.04" x:Name="SpeakNow" Content="Speak" Click="Speak" d:LayoutOverrides="Height" Width="67.773" IsDefault="True"/>
<Label HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="8,17,0,0" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="97" Height="29" Content="what to say:" FontSize="14" FontWeight="Bold" Foreground="#FFE4E4E4"/>
</Grid>
</Window>
And the C# is:
Code:
using System;
using System.IO;
using System.Net;
using System.Windows;
using System.Windows.Controls;
using System.Windows.Data;
using System.Windows.Media;
using System.Windows.Media.Animation;
using System.Windows.Navigation;
using System.Speech.Synthesis;
namespace ItSpeaks
{
public partial class Window1
{
private SpeechSynthesizer foo;
public Window1()
{
this.InitializeComponent();
// Insert code required on object creation below this point.
foo = new SpeechSynthesizer();
}
private void Speak(object sender, System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs e)
{
// Speak
foo.SpeakAsync(whatToSay.Text);
// 0 to 100
foo.Volume = 100;
// -10 to 10
foo.Rate = -2;
}
}
}
There is also a voice-to-text engine, so I might give that a shot later.

Text To Speech Accessibility
Hello,
I'm a new user in director. I'm using text to speech feature in Director MX for a tutorial. Here the "voiceSpeak()" Lingo command allows the system to speak but in a robotic voice. But I want to turn it as a human-voice (so that the audience can feel that human is talking to them).
How can i do that?....
my default system voice is.... 'microsoft sam'.
By using the "voiceget()" Lingo command I got the number
" -2147483648" instead of any formatted statement like...
"[#name: "Mary", #age: "teen", #gender: "female", #index: 5]".
Even In some system I got in the above format but as follows...
"[#name: , #age: , #gender: , #index: 1]".
My OS is windows 2000/XP where SAPI and MSAgent characters are installed.
Now my questions are....
1. How can I get the human voice rather than robotic one? (in text to speech accessibility)
2. To get a formatted output like "[#name: "Mary", #age: "teen", #gender: "female", #index: 5]"... what are the steps I have to follow?
3. To change the "name", "age", "gender"... what are the steps I need to follow?
Is There Any Program That Can Turn Text Into Speech?
Is there any program that can turn text into speech? I mean, can you type your text into a box, and then export it as a .wav or .mp3 file? So if I type "Hello", I can select it in a man's voice, woman's voice, yelling, whispering etc. If any of you know of such a program, please reply with the title. I really need it.
Thanks a million.

Alternative To Sitepal (text To Speech)
Are there any alternatives to sitepal with the same or close the same quality of text to speech engine? An api would be required. Let me know if you guys have any experience with any of them.
Text To Speech Component For Flash?
I have searched far and wide for a component that would read the contents of a text field out loud. I have yet to find one.
Does anyone know if such a component exists out there? I would be willing to pay for it, within reason.
The closest I have seen is what www.sitepal.com does with their talking avatars. You can see an example here: It dynamically reads based on your input. Click for an example...
Anyone know anything I don't? I would appreciate any help.
Text To Speech, Flash To Javascript To Director
I did this a couple of years ago, passing variables from Flash to Javascript Director, in order to get a tiny director file to work text to speech wonders while my flash character spoke. I still have the files, but they no longer work, even though I haven't changed them. Is there a different way to pass string variables to Director now?
The calls out of Flash are, simplified, getURL("javascript:dothis()")
and the calls from JavaScript to Director, with the movie named myomovie, like this:
window.document.myoMovie.EvalScript(theArgs)
are those still how you'd communicate?
Double Click Speech Bubble And Same Size Text?
hello
I have already created a speech bubble button which is inside a movieclip and is draggable and resizable. I have created an input text box over the button so that you can drag the speech bubble around by the edge and click in the middle and you can type. my only problem is that as i can resize it using the arrow keys, when a box is resized the text also resizes.
Is there a way to keep all the text the same size in a movie with different speech bubbles?
also is there a way i can duplicate the speech bubbles by double clicking? i currently have keypress commands.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks

Is There Flash Software That Speaks An Imputed Text?
I am designing a website that I would like to audibly greet each user.
I am looking for a flash based software that has the ability to read text input by the users of the site.
Can anyone point me in a direction of this type of software?

Easy-to-use And Simple Audio/ImageSlideshow W/text Box Software?
Looking for something that doesn't require knowledge of Flash.
This is for a company with a full range of experience among users, though I'd say 80% are not capable of learning Flash.
I basically need to find a simple interface or template-driven software that can build something similar to the audio slideshow found in the following link:
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/12/10/opinion/10KRIS.html
For those without an account, this is basically a little slideshow, created in Flash that offers the following:
1) Slides fade in and out on the left
2) Different text blocks fade in and out on the right
3) Narrative audio plays in the background
4) At the bottom a small control panel with play, rewind, forward, and a slider so you can skip around / see how far you are in the production.
I've found some nifty slideshow software, but nothing that also has the control bar, and the ability to have text on the right. Anyone know of some shareware out there that can do this, or perhaps a super simplified component for Flash that can do this easily? I don't think we are at the level to teach everyone in the company enough Flash knowledge to build this on their own.
Thanks in advance - MIDIman
"Text To Speech" Plugins
Are there any plug-ins for Flash MX which will allow it to link with a 'Text to speech' package or engine?
Very Simple Flash-type Software To Create Animated Text Gifs
Hi
I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a Swish-type package that I can use to create simple animated text gifs. Let me explain more.
I want to send out animated text messages (which also include two static gifs) on emails to my customers to promote my Company.
I presumed that Swish would let me do that but you can't seem to export to gif so I wonder whether anyone here can recommend an alternative.
The package would need to be:-
1 - VERY easy
2 - Allow to export to gif
3 - Allow fancy animated text effects
4 - & also two static gifs either side of the text.
All suggestions welcome please.
Thanks

Text To Voice - Text Ot Sound - TTS - Voice Synthesis - Speech Synthesis
I have the code below so far but it is too slow. How can I speed up the voice playback?
Also, when I link sounds and give them names... how can I get this software to check different rules of words without the | in the code?
Code:
makePhrase = function () {
if (soundCount<soundMax) {
soundCount++;//goes to next
speech.attachSound(aPhones[soundCount]);
speech.start();
} else {
delete speech.onSoundComplete;
}
};
function say(phrase) {
var i = j=0;
aPhones = new Array();
aPhones[0] = "";
for (i=0; i<phrase.length; i++) {
if (phrase.charAt(i) != "|") {
aPhones[j] += phrase.charAt(i);
if (phrase.charAt(i) == " ") {
aPhones[j] = "space";
}
} else {
aPhones[++j] = "";
}
}
speech.attachSound(aPhones[0]);
speech.start();
speech.onSoundComplete = makePhrase;
soundCount = 0;
soundMax = j-1;
}
function soundInit() {
speech = new Sound(this);
}
soundInit();
//say("h|e|ll|oo| | | | | |h|ow| |ar| |y|ouu| | | | |tt|u|d|ay|");
stop();
btnsay.onRelease = function() {
Selection.setFocus("txt");
say(txt.text);
};

Lip Syncing Speech
Hiya i'm setting up an animation for which i've already dubbed voiceovers and I was wondering if there is a way to have the soundfile play live as I scrub across the timeline so I can hear where/when to swap mouth symbols. So far I can only get the sound to play when the movie is tested. Thanks in advance!

Speech Animation
Hello,
does anybody know of a good program to make characters speak, in flash or a stand alone program. Currently we are investigating Poser, but we find the lipsync isn't good enough. Also Hash's Animation:Master, but this seems verry work-intensive. It is for a professional website that needs a character explaining stuff.
thx,

Speech Animation
About a year ago I came across a great website/page that illustrated different mouth appearances to represent words and letters. I want to animate a character to speak the words of a recording that I've made. Unfortunately the bookmark that I made in my browser has since been erased. Anyone know where I can find the page that I'm referring to and/or a page with similar contents?
Thanks in advance -
