Flash :: Timeline Effects->transition Gets Played Over And Over Again

Using Variable In ASP To Select Which Label Is Played Within Flash Timeline.
Basically i have a link which acts as a return button which brings the user back to the intro page of my webpage...As the page is split up I have the flash content on 2 seperate asp pages (Intro & Main).

From my main page I would like to refer back to the intro.asp but instead of playing the full animation that plays id like for it go straight to the label 'start' within the flash document.

Could any1 help me how i would go about doing this?

Timeline Scrubbing External FLVs Crashes/locks Projector When Played From DVD
Have been putting together a projector flash file in Flash 8 (Mac). The projector file links off to some largish flvs and one .swf skin file contained in the same directory locally. The projector plays fine and you can scrub the timeline, etc. when you test it or play the projector from the computers hard drive. However once it is burnt to DVD and you select a video to play (works fine) and then attempt to scrub the timeline it freezes the projector and you have to kill the process.

Have downloaded and installed the latest FLV playback component (1.1) and republished and reburnt the DVD and this has not helped to solve the problem.

The code used to open and play the FLVs is....

Movie Clip Timeline Played In Reverse Triggers Multiple Load Events
Howdy

basically I have a movieclip of an animation, which contains 200 frames. the animation's playback is controlled by the _x of the mouse, so the user can shuttle through the animation by moving the cursor from left to right or right to left. OK so far.

when the animation reaches particular points in the animation, i want events to be triggered - so for instance, between frames 50 and 70 of the animation, i want to have a text label appear to specify the contents of that section.

what i've done is to have:

a basic movie clip with a keyframe on frame 50 and a blank keyframe on 70, with the following (approximate) AS:

hurray! that works fine too. but if i now add a similar clip with different values (label = "Scene 2") further along the timeline, when i shuttle through from left to right, all is well, but when going from right to left, so that playback is in reverse, the load event is triggered several times, BUT ONLY FOR THE SECOND LABEL. no matter where the clip is added, only the first MC on the timeline triggers the load/unload properly.

might make more sense if you have a look at the attached .FLA within the eg.zip.

any solutions or alternative approaches gratefully received...

i am design a site with 4 main sections

the nav bar is on the top. when a user clicks on a tab, a transition effect occurs over the topic that they are already in, and then fades to the new topic.

i am having trouble doing this in flash because i want the transition effect to occur after the frame that they are in, and then go to the new frame. is there a way to tell flash to complete the transition, then go to the new section?

I have my main stage, that will have 5 buttons on it.
I have created a MC that will wipe acrosss the screen.

1st question: What AS do I put on the button to make the MC just play?

2nd Question: How do I make the current .swf file that is on the stage stay there until the MC finishes. Or more specific, stay there until the "wipe" has covered it up?

3rd question: How do I make the MC finish playing before the next .swf file is called onto the stage?

The mc is named transClip.
Im loading different .swf files into an empty MC using the loadMovie method.

The only way I can get the MC to play is to load it in a level on a frame. Then give the button the gotoAndPlay,frame#.
But if I click on the button again, since its already on the frame, the MC will not play again.
I have spent the past 3 hrs trying to finger this out, and cant get it

Hi,

I'm currently working on a site which has mutiple menu options. Currently, when a user rolls over or clicks certain buttons new menus and the like move in with a motion easeing effect.

What I am hoping to do is, when the user clicks another button, the menu or box or whatever, eases back out the way it came in before the next one moves into place.

I have seen this on many flash sites but have yet been able to work out how to do it.

Does anyone know of any online tutorials or something that will help me out?

Transition Effects
hi,
i was wondering how i would go about doing transition effects between scenes so that it appears smooth.. for example, i'm at a site, in the main section, and then I click 'bio', and little squares flash across the screen and i'm in the bio section. Also, i'm not quite sure if in fact i'm switching between scenes or movie clips. So far i have my main section, and my buttons etc that i want to use throughout the site, but i haven't made any other sections because i'm not sure if i'm supposed to make separate scenes and recycle the elements i want, or am i just supposed to make movie clips as the section i want? (sorry if i'm sounding incoherent, i'm really confused).

if you go to http://www.visioncritical.com/ ......... there's two flash demo's on the front. One's called ocean house (left) and ones called panel (right) ....... if you view the demo called panel you will notice a really cool transition effect inbetween the different sequences.

Anyone know how thats done? Is it motions tweens or script?

HELP On Transition Effects
Hello all,

I am using the photo gallery based on XML supplied by a user on this forum.
In my main menu i have about thirty titles for different galleries that thing is that i can't find any idea for this number of different galleries. the main i thing i am having problem thing is creating some effects when a user ROLLOVER one of the menu titles. I thought of the image slider effect but it seems too difficult to put about 30 (400 x 300) picutres on the stage to do the effect.

Can any body provide any idea on how to do an attractive effect i just need an idea not code if it is not available. I'll be very thankfull for that.

hi, by now I know how to build a simple website in flash, but what I still would like to know is how to build those sexy transition effects that appear when going to another section of the site... How are those affects, that seem to combine and animate all the contents on a page, made? Is this all scripted or tweened? And if its tweened, where do you put them on the timeline? Can someone explain this to me or maybe show me a website or article where this is explained (in a extensive way)?

i have been working with flash for a little bit, and have been checking tutorials on the web.

I am trying to learn how to do transtions, but don't even know where to start. one example is http://www.2ndnaturestudio.com/v02/
if you click on "the work", and select one of the numbers, a window forms, slides to the right, grows larger, and displays a picture of the site. Below this is some text loads.

How is this done? Is the windows actionscripted? Is it a seperate movie clip? What about the text.

I see other sites that have windows that resize and move when you click a button. If there is a tuorial out there somewhere, I would really appreciate it.

Like I said, I don't even know where to start.

Special Transition Effects
Hi,

Having started using Flash a week or 2 ago and trying all kinds of effects, i was wondering how people do those nifty drop down curve mask effects i see here and there. Since i cant even draw a perfect curve using the design tool (do i just suck, or can it be done ? , i figured it had to be coded. So using actionscript (lineTo(), curveTo(), ...) i tried to mimic the effect.

Needless to say this way leaves little room for doing extra tween effects or little tweaks. I cant imagine this is the way to go, as flash seems more of a design tool then a coders tool.
So how DO others do it ? Same as me, or are they using something else then Flash ? (i checked out swish, but it didnt seem to be able to do shape tweens).

i've seen a some sites and a web banner where they've used a very nice 'fading/glowing' effect on pictures.

it's hard to describe how it looks, but check out:

u have to refresh the page till it shows the VERIZON ad banner on the right (sorry for the inconvenience ) - the reddish image of 1 girl fading into another.

Unsure About Transition Effects
I have a home page that has 5 images on it and a line or 2 of copy on the bottom of each image. Each image is masked by a tall, narrow rectangle. I want these images to function as a button so that when a user clicks on one of them, the image scales downs a bit, moves slightly to the right and the tall narrow rectanglar mask changes to a more horizontal rectangular shape. As the image comes to rest at it's new position, scale and mask shape, I want copy to fade in to the right of the image so the effect is that I have linked to another page on my site. I also want to include a back button of some kind so after the user views the page, he can easily go back to the home page.

I'm not sure if this is best handled by actually using buttons, or perhaps by Actionscript ( which I don't know much about). I'm pretty new to Flash CS3, so any help woud be very much appreciated.

Instead of using movieclips, I am using individual movie files for each section of my site, so I was wondering if it was possible to make transition effects between *.swf files and the loadMovie action.

I am very new in AS3 as well as Flash animation. I've converted the XML Image Slideshow thing from the Kirupa to AS3 code, and now I wondered how can I perform more complicated image transition effects besides fading effect.

I'm up-ping my actionscript to a more advanced level and I would appreciate a tutorial or fla to get me going making my own effects. All the ones I've seen sofar just dont cut it. Any pointers as to how to make pro masking effects like the ones mentioned or where to go for help?,

Transition Effects With Flash MX -Impossible?

Well, this is something new. Because I have been working with Java Applets technology for a while, I discover that everything (basically) can be done with Flash MX technology. But – just one thing is, at least for me, impossible to do in Flash technology. Please look first at following link and pay attention to transitions effects done with Java Applets technology.

The interesting thing is that transitions effects are changing whole the time. From roll over, side to side, pixelate and so on. I am especially looking for pixelate transitions. Of course, the dream scenario is a flash script that can randomly generate all this transitions. I am not so advance programmer of Flash, and I assume that this question is something for some kind of Flash guru. Maybe I am wrong.
If someone can give me little advice recommend some open source movie in movie section – I would be very glad!

I wanna create a flash presentation with audio and pictures. The pictures will display on a particular second-order with different transitions.

As to the first two, I had a problem of loading sounds. How to sutomatically play the sound in the beginning without pushing any buttons?
As to the 3rd one, I used TransitionManager to control the transition. How to add other transitions after the first one is done? (I wanna add 4 different pictures on a particular second-order: 3, 5.5, 9, 15 secs.

Problem Creating Transition Effects
I'm trying to figure out the AS for transition effects and I thought my prayers had been answered when kirupa.com posted a tutorial on transition effects however I don't want my transition effects to contain a loading script. I've tried ammending the script so the transition works when loading external movies into a container but its not working.

I'm using loaders already in each movie which is loaded into a container.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

I would like to format a textfield that gets populated by a database, but the content in the database shouldn't contain any html css tags since the users that update this data has no knowledge of css etc. It should only affect a particular textfield as a whole. So just changing a font and size for eg. I don't need to target specific words in the loaded content just the textfield as whole. In general if you apply size, type etc to a textfield in a flash once it loads the data from the database it resets all these to deafault which is what causes my problem. Is there a way in actionscript to set css and target a textfiled or something like that ?

Also any ideas for decent transtition effect/animation for a dynamic text like this one?

Slide Presentation - Transition Effects To Imported Swf

I am using the Slide Presentation template in CS3 version. I am importing a pre-existing swf file into a slide using the contentpath option in parameters. However, I notice two things going wrong:

1. The resulting slideshow does not respect stop() action in the original swf
2. Transition effects applied to the slide don't work.

Please Help With Blur/vibrate Mouseover/transition Effects.
I was wondering if I could get help with some transitions. I have MX and MX 2004. I'm building myself a website and I have a logo that's displayed in the center of the stage.

I have 6 different colored logos. I would like the grey logo(main logo) to blur and jitter a little while blurred when it's moused-over.

I would also like to create a transition so that when people view a different section (lets say the teal colored section) of my site, the grey logo will blur and jitter while blurred, but also fade/transition into the teal logo. purple for the purple section, etc...

I know how to do fading tweens, however I don't know actionscript very well at all.

I would be so grateful to anyone who could help me with this. Or part of it even if it all can't be done together. I'd like some version of this effect if possible.

Creating Cool Transition Effects With LoadMovie

Enter into the main page and use the buttons on the right to navigate. I'm trying to create a transition effect like this with my website after a button is clicked, and I can do it with loadMovie. The only detail I'm missing is how the guy who created that template makes it so that the buttons (when clicked) loadMovie of a new movie clip, but with the previous movie clip already in the background.

It's hard to describe, but basically I'm trying to make my page look less static. Let me explain with an example:

1. I click on "About" in the right navigation. The transition occurs, the box zooms in and the content flies in from the left.

2. Next I click services, and the transition occurs BUT the "About" content is still in the background, and the transition occurs over it.

Whenever I do loadMovie and use the same empty MC, the current content that is being displayed right before the button is clicked disappears and the movie that is to be loaded is loaded immediately.

I'm trying to make each transition load over the current content displayed.

Does this make sense? I'm trying to make as much sense as possible.

If anyone could give me some tips on how to go about this I'd appreciate it.

Control The Winking Effects On Move Transition?

[F9] Saved SWF File Uses Wrong Fonts And No Transition Effects
Hi there everyone, I'm pretty new to flash, but starting to get the hang of things. Kinda....

I have create a really simple movie that has text that slides across the screen. At certain frames, I have adjusted the opacity (alpha) on the text to make it have a kind of fade-in effect.

When I play the movie within Flash, it looks and operates perfectly. When I try to Publish the file, and preview the file, the text is a bit screwed up. It uses a different font, and my opacity changes do not show up at all.

I have confirmed that the FLA file is indeed in the same folder as the SWF file, and it still doesn't work correctly.

Transition Effects After A Button Is Pressed Before It Goes To The Target Frame/scene
Hi, I really need some help with some actionscript because when it comes to that, I do not know where to start...

On my site, I have a menu a the top. When a button is pressed i want it to play to then end of the scene, then goto the corresponding scene to which button was pressed, so there is a transition between when the button is pressed and it going to the next scene.

I really dont know how to go about doing this, it is probably obvious, i have thought about having a play for however many frames it is until the end of the scene, then gotoAndplay at the corresponding scene (this is the actionscript for the button, OnRelease action)

could someone please tell me what i should do......

This code works great but when I try to use thumbnail buttons the images load with out the transition effects. I would like to be able to have the thumbnails clicked and the JPEGS download with the effects. What code should I use and where do I place it?

Im trying to add a timeline effect to a button so that on the over state the effect takes place, its the blur effect but when I go back to scene 1 and preview I place my mouse over the button the entire animation doesnt work I only get the first 3 frames or so...any ideas??

Hi. I'm new to Flash. Using CS3 on Mac. I want to use the Alpha feature in the Timeline Effect > Transform. I want a bitmap image to come up from white to 100% opacity. Using the Timeline Effect I can get the image to go from 100% to white, but I can't reverse the effect. Does anyone have any suggestions, please? Thanks.

I was just fiddling around in MX2k4, and right clicked on a shape, and saw the "Timeline effects" option in the context menu... Is that a new thing, or just something I never noticed before?

Okay after all these months with Flash MX I finally just found out about the Timeline effects options. I can`t belive I didn`t know about these. But I have a question, whenever I try anything but the Blur or Drop Shadow effect the computer freezes up and I have to quit Flash. Is it just too much to ask of my computer to apply an effect to 291 characters? Thanks.
