Hi everyone

Okay...sorry to be illiterate about Flash actionscripting and tellTargeting since I'm going to bother you with my problem. I'm completely new to the concept of the above mentioned but I need to know how to do the following situation. Could you help me out please?:

Suppose I have a main movie that has a few buttons on the page. Now if I want to have one certain button play a different page (let's call it page 2), that page 2 is supposed to have a button on the uppper left to jump to the homepage again.

How should I set this up within Flash specifically(step by step)? What ways could I make it workable to make the main page jump via buttons to other pages AND THEN BACK to the main page with page2 HomePageButton (given that I'm inexperienced with actionscripting but have an enthusiastic attitude to make the website work)? I'm sorta sitting on the fence of either making different MovieScenes that link together, or either having different HTML files loading swf files, or even having movies on the same timeline jumping back and forth.

It's not like I'm a beginning, nor am I a proficient novice. I'm right in between (as I'm trying to read and learn from my Flash text book). I'm totally open to suggestions and tutorial help regarding the above situation if you guys have the time. I'm sooo ready for your expertise with this stuff.

I'm making a website for my business and I want to integrate flash into the site. I pretty much want my site to be flash based like the macromedia site. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I should go about this.?

Building Webpages In Different Res
i have been designing web pages for quite a long time but it was only this summer that i realised the problem of different screens resolution.so my question is this:i use dreamweaver and frontpage at work,and i would like to know how can i design the same page in both resolutions, 800*600 and 1024*768. i mean, do i have to change my screen's resolution and then make the page? is there anything,like an option or something, that does that?

Embedding Webpages
I am working on an online web store that is flash based, or part of it is rather. There is going to be two stores, one flash based, and one more conventional. The conventional store is PHP based, and I want to build the flash to integrate with that, so to avoid having to completly rebuild the entire store. I want to have an area inside the flash window that will query for a web page that will display inside the flash document. Is this possible? To embed a web page inside a flash document? Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I'm using Flash 8 and was wondering a few questions on how to get a website based on Flash up and running.

1. Stupid question, but how do I get a hyperlink connected to a button object? I can get it linked to text via the Dynamic Text setting, but how do I do this with a button/symbol/etc?

2. I'm looking to have the main site consisting of flash, with a frame in the centre of the Flash object that displays a HTML file, depending on what link in the flash panel on the left is clicked.

q) What can't flash compared to dreamweaver because in flash you can create a website with animation. So the 2 applications have blurred boundaries. It seems though you can't create text settings as good or tables like in dreamweaver. Why would someone prefer dreamweaver as flash seems to cover most bases and have extra capabilities compared to flash?

q) Is flash most commonly used as embedded in a web page eg .asp/frontpage/dreamweaver or is it used often as a stand alone web page?

Flash For Webpages
What is the best method of navigation for a webpage using flash.

I've been thinking of using a new scene for each different "page".

Or would it be better make each page in to its own movie clip.

I thought about making each page as its own swf, but then I would lose the advantage of flash reusing loaded content.

I'm trying to figure out what would work best in terms of editing in the future.

Also, is there a way to delete a scene after adding it? I went through all the menus and couldn't find a way to delete a scene.

External WebPages
I know that I can display external text and movies etc. in my flash project. But I would like to be able to display whole websites, kind of like the frameset tag in HTML.

Does anyone know of a way to do this? I have tried Google, but it is not working for me this time.

LOADING SWF IN WEBPAGES ONLY ONCE
if a swf is already loaded and it's stored in windows/temporary internet files, why should it load again from the server, if it's the same thing.
the best example for this is at the home page at macromedia.com
the problem is that if the banner with the flash advertisment after the menu has already been loaded, why should it load again if you visit the same page?
in comparison with the macromedia.com banner i've got my example wich i try to make it work as on this site, on www.alohaarts.as.ro

some sed that the problem is with the browser, but i've tested macromedia.com and my flash example in the same browser.

any ideas how i can make this work?

I have only just started using flash as one of my uni assignments is to produce a portfolio of my work using the internet. So i'm trying to get to grips with it!

I have never made a Flash Site, but have learnt about navigation, movies clips, buttons, etc. After I have made the navigation page...how do i make more pages with information and clips of movies and sound. Would I have to make another flash file to be imported over the top using action script on my navigation? What type of flash file will it have to be?

If anyone knows any good tutorials to help with this, I would be very grateful. Thanx ppl!

How would you know how big (as in x and y) you would want flash if you want the .swf to BE the site? Understand what I'm saying? Like, how do people know how wide and what height they want their swf to be for their site... ya know..?

Some SWF's work stand alone but not in webpages...Why? For example the Clock.swf included in the samples folder of Flash MX works fine alone. But if you try to put it on a webpage with Dreamweaver or other Page editor, it won't work. Anyone know why?

Full Webpages Available Offline?
Ok, i dunno if this is allowed or not but i hope it is :/, and sorry for the wrong forum post.. there isnt really a forum i saw matching my offtopic request.

I was wondering of a way to download webpages to make them viewable offline, Save as under IE does not include flash files. And the saved file(s) also need to be transportable, need to transfer them to another computer.

Im starting Actionscript from the beginning and i would like to download the tutorials so i can have them in a dif room on a dif comp, i cant sit online allday due to currently living with 56k lol.

I stress this a hundred times fold, i am not trying to use this for any illegal ripping of swf files or content. Even if i was i could simply use a download manager to rip files.

I just want something as quick and simple as "Save As" under IE to read a years worth or tutorials giving me some basic knowlage. Please help, thanks!

[F8] Problems Linking To Webpages
I've built a website in Flash, and everything works fine on my computer, but when I go to the site on other PCs, I find the interface works just like it should save for the fact that buttons linking to other web pages don't work.

I know I can fix this on those PCs by fiddling with their Flash settings, but is there anything I can do to the site to make it work without forcing users to go through the all that trouble?

Hi there! I'm currently working on a website and what I'm trying to achieve is getting my flash movie to fill up the whole browser window while my main interface sits in the middle of the screen. I'm trying to get this to be consistent regardless of the user's screen resolution.

For extra clarification, go to:

Using Flash For Nav Throughout Mulitple Webpages
Hi, sorry if this is too newbie, just trying to get a feeling for what area of flash I need to learn to make this work.

Challenge : using flash to create a flash nav type bar that controls what page user is on. There is other stuff on this page as well as flash; i.e. video and html. I am aware of using geturl to launch user from flash nav to new webpage. But what happens when I get there? I obviously still want a flash nav to exist in new page.

Options -
1. reload a new flash object at every new URL. However this seems terrible inefficient. Considering it is same nav essentially.

2. Use some form of GET/POST to tell new url where I have landed in reference to flash. So flash corresponds to correct place. If this is possible, can I 'reload' the flash object and the browser pulls it from cache? Therefore not pulling it from the net every time?

3. Any other method?

CONDITIONS - I am using xml to load into flash the buttons and links.

Flash Webpages With Depth
I am looking for webpages that contain an interface or an element with depth. What I am looking for is a feature were you can zoom in and out, the elements on wich you zoom in fly towards you. But you can also zoom out again so the objects will zoom by again only in the opposit direction.

Does anyone know a website with this features? It all has to be done in flash with actionscripting, not with swift 3d or something...

Flash Not Able To Load Webpages
I am making a multiplayer trivia game.

I have some of the basics done, the flash checks the server constantly for new data. When a new question is avaliable (every minute) the flash will grab it and display it.

Basically, the flash cant seem to communicate with my server when its shoved into a browser. It works fine just running it normally.

Buttons To Link To Webpages
Hello there, this is my first time on this message board, so I apologize if I am in the wrong section or anything.

Anyway, here is my problem I need help with. I'm designing a website for a person. For the navagation bar, they wanted the button links to have a drop down menu, which listed the links under that category. I found out how to do something like that in Dreamweaver, called a collapsable spry menu. The problem is, Safari does not support that, so those button links wont work. So I was wanting to try to create something like that using flash.

So my question is how can I make the buttons I create in Flash link to the different webpages I create? I want it to work like how I made it with Dreamweaver. I want to click the button, then a menu appears directly under it, which has a couple of links in them:

Embedding Webpages In Flash Help
I'm currently working on a new flash design for my website, I have completed my new menu, but on my site I use an "Iframe" display my news on the front page, I was wondering If there is a way, that a flash swf can receive a webpage inside of the movie so that I dont have to go into flahs and change the file everytime I have an update.

Wow I think I confused myself with that question...

Basically If you look at my site;

I want to know if I can move my news page into a flash file, so that I only have to update the webpage and not the flash file.

Webpages Linking Problems
if i have two movies. on one movie i have links based on the location of frames like if a person clicks on the "works" button he goes to the frame 2 via gotoAndPlay(2). likewise all the buttons have links on to the frames. but their is a link that i want to open in a seperate movie. now i have made a seperate movie for that button. now in the second movie when i want to go to "works" link(which resides on the second frame of my first movie) how can i go there by clicking the "works" button on the second movie by using actionscript.

Quite new to flash; I want to be able to have a series of buttons that, when one is clicked it loads an external html file into a scrollabe area, is this possible.
I know how to load .txt files.

LOADING A SWF IN WEBPAGES SEVERAL TIMES
let's say that i've got the same swf file in 2 webpages. in the first page, the flash file shows the preloader and there he goes, after 100% the film starts. but in the second page, when i enter, the same movie loads again.

how can i tell flash or the webpage or whoever to load the same movie from windows/temporary internet files, if the files allready exists, thus skipping the unusefull and time-consuming loading?

i've got an example on www.alohaarts.as.ro

now the main problem is: if the same swf has already been loaded in the first page, why should'nt it be loaded from windows/temporary internet files, if the file is already there?

About Loading Images In Webpages
For my webpage i have a large image which i wish to have on every page and to accomplish this i can either load the things below it into an iframe or i can just reload it onto each page....the thing is due to my page layout iframes will be tough to work in....so my question is whether if they load an image on one of my pages and then go to another, will the pc load it faster because it was already loaded by the pc once? or will it have to get all 80 kb again? or will it be something in between.....please help....thanks

those of you who do professional web design- do you make each page a scene, or each page a movie clip. i've made all my pages with each separate page being a scene, but my comp art teacher showed me how to do it with movie clips today, neato...but whats the preferred method?

Curious About Frameless Advertisements/webpages?
All the time, I get popups in the corner of my screen that are above everything else...they have no frame and when I right click it appears they are flash. Anyone know how you can get that effect, the frameless effect, without keeping it over everything? Here's what I want to obtain:

When the user leaves my website, a flash application comes down from the top of the screen. It says 'wait dont leave' and all that good stuff, and has a link back to the site as well as a (very clearly denoted, mind you) button to close the window.

Setting Buttons To Access Webpages...
I'm having problems with my site (not yet up and running). I have a button that goes to a specific page. I created another button to go to another page, but I just get a "Page cannot be displayed " error when pressing it. I have verified that the page exists and that the spelling is correct (no typos). The main page is set in frames: the flash menu is at the top, and the buttons are supposed to replace the bottom left page or the bottom right page, depending on which button is pressed. How do I do this correctly?

Displaying Webpages In Flash Movies
Hey guys, this is my first time posting in the forums.

I'm trying to make a comic site, complete with calendar archive and blog, but last I heard this is pretty hard to do in flash, and I'm not that good to pull it off. I could probably use Iframes, but I don't want to. So I've got an idea. Here's what I plan to do. Visualize a flash movie, something like this:

See that, the content area is in the flash movie. So is the "shoutbox". What I want to do is make it so that when you click on one of the navigation buttons, an external webpage is displayed inside the movie, and when you click on a hyperlink inside said webpage, it also loads in the content area. Kinda like an Iframe knock off. I've seen this done before, and there's even flash based browsers out there. Now what I'm also trying to do is get the shout box to refresh all on its lonesome, without refreshing the rest of the flash site "shell". I dont think many people have done this, since google has given me nothing. Any help will be appreciated.

Flash Webpages Only Work Seperately
When I play my flash movies things like certain movie clips, picture resizing and vector line draws only work when I load my web pages seperately.

This is how I'm loading other movies:

CS3 Flash Movies In Webpages Problem
I know how to make a generic flash movie player and all that in flash cs3 with their tutorials/quick import, but i cant quite seem how to find this:

When you say embed a youtube video to myspace, or online they don't auto load, instead they seem to have a swf button with the big play icon sitting there till you hit it, then it loads the animation and autoplays.

What coding does this? Is there a tutorial?

Someone told me to just do this but didn't know the coding on how to do it or any tutorials online to do it:
-If you do not want the Flash file to load until a user clicks on a play button, take a screen capture of the first frame of your movie.
-Put it on your html page and then make a button that looks like your play button in the movie.
-Put this button in a DIV and then place the DIV where you want it on your screen capture image.
-Have this button replace the image with the Movie SWF file.
Basically what you are trying to do is trick the user into thinking it's the SWF file, but only loading the SWF file when the user clicks on the fake play button.

Any Ideas?

Embedding Transparent Flash On Webpages
Put simply, we're running into problems with embedding a partially transparent Flash movie on a page that, when activated, rolls open and displays more content. In Firefox browsers. the transparent area will not allow users to click on HREF links below it. In IE, the flash content appears below browser-generated pulldown boxes.

This swf is embedded in a div, and uses a javascript workaround to bypass the ActiveX issues in IE, but otherwise, it's a fairly standard animation with no complex

There are lots of instances of people airing this issue online, but no suggested fixes. If anyone has any fixes, or code-based workarounds, it would be a big help.

Flash Button Target Frame For Webpages
ok, ive been working on a site Electric Body Art and im using a template and iframe. what im trying to do is when they click the button it loads the page into the iframe, but i cant set the target of the buttons to "main" like i have my iframe named. i was thinking maybe some way i can have a layer over the buttons and when clicked it loads the page but it doesnt seem to be working, any ideas?

Webpages Not Changing On Server After File Upload
Hello everyone. I've been having this problem for some time now and can't seem to find out why. I'v recently had the same problem on windows 2k pro and am now having the same with win xp pro...both using flash mx. I create a flash movie, publish it and upload the swf and the html files using an ftp program. I go to look at the page online (on the server) and am looking at an older version every time. I clear my cache and cookies each time and even manually delete the temp internet files under all users in my windows explorer, but still the same thing happens. I force a fresh reload by using Ctrl + F5 - again no change. If I wait until the following day, the newer version will be visible. This has to be a caching problem (I think), but I can't see what I'm doing wrong and how to prevent this. Please help....

Is it possible, (If so, how?) to have a script or something, that opens a URL inside something in a flash game?

Example: You click the computer screen
It opens up a new frame.
Inside the computer screen, is google.

You type in "ASDF" in google, and google works as normal, except it is in a computer screen in a flash game.

Is this possible, and if so, how?

[mx2004 Help] Loading Webpages In Front Of A Flash Projector
Hi,
I'm currently building a flash projector (cd-rom portfolio), and am having problems getting html pages to load in front of the projector. Is there anything extra that I should be adding in the getURL command? I ran a getURL search on this site, but none of them seemed to relate to my issue (since most are based around javascript, which would require the main flash file to be an swf embedded in an html file).
Please, pretty please, help me out. It shouldn't be too difficult a solution.

Redirecting Webpages To Adobe Flash Labels Or Frames On An Index Webpage
I would like users who go to e.g. https://ecstasylove.org/arts/music redirected to https://ecstasylove.org and specifically to the music label or frame 84 of the flash animation embedded in the index.php there.

Flashloaded (makers of fCMSPro, the flash content management system running on my site) said I'd need to research redirecting using PHP to achieve this.

I want other wepages redirected in the same fashion e.g.:

https://ecstasylove.org/arts/movies to https://ecstasylove.org/index.php (embedded fCMSPro.swf) movies label or frame 75
https://ecstasylove.org/arts/tv to https://ecstasylove.org/index.php (embedded fCMSPro.swf) tv label or frame 93

how would i do this?

is there any way to not show to index.php?... in the url bar after the redirection as I have text displaying the current navigation on the terminating webpage?

I've been given help here but don't quite understand probably what code and where it should in flash.
