i have a transparent flash layer problem in netscape 7
and prolly macs too

I have a site that works fine in IE,
wherein i have a flash movie layered over top of html iframes (floating frames)
strangely, in Netscape 7, with flash 7, I get a problem where the page is displayed as it should be with the zindex of the layer with flash IS on top, WITH transparency....However, the buttons do not seem to work in either the scrollbars or content in the html, nor the flash buttons... (well... one does some reason....the spinning color wheel in the upper right hand corner)
but the concrete slab buttons in the site get no hand cursor even!

visit the page with IE and see how it should work
then visit it with NS7 and see the problem...

Problems With Flash Transparent Drop Down Menu Over Html In Some Browsers
Hi everyone... this is my first post and it's about an issue that's causing me a few problems.

I'm currently designing/ building my company's web site, the test page be viewed here: www.musflashtv.com/test.htm

1) This layout contains an embeded flash movie (.swf) with a transparent background, this is the main navigation.

The flash navigation has a drop down menu that animates down and covers the html page (containing links) below.

The problem is that in most current browsers such as; Firefox 2.0.05 (links below template don't work), Netscape 8.1.3 (navigation drop down and links don't work) and Opera 9.10 (links below template don't work), any links just below the 'invisible' transparent area coverd by the navigation can't be clicked 'through the flash file'. The exception is IE 7.0, everything is fine there. (it hasn't been tested in any mac browsers though).

Because the area below the navigation on www.kitachi.info/work is one large dummy jpeg file, the link below would be a much better example to look at.

The flash navigation is embedded in the html (tlp) template file using the code below and aligned using an external style (.css) sheet, this html code not only embeds the flash movie but it also tells the browser to display it's background and as transparent. The flash movie is embedded in a layer that sits above the table.

this works for explorer:

Netscape 4.x Browsers Hang?
Hey all - We have just released a site built in Flash 5 and are having problems with Netscape 4.x browsers. As the animations are playing, the browser becomes inactive and won't let you click buttons, move the window, or even close the window.

The site is launched into a pop-up window from the main site. If you close the main site window before launching the Flash movie, it will work fine. This leads me to believe that there is some sort of Flash conflict between the main window and the pop-up window. However, I don't know where to start to resolve this conflict. Anyone know about this or have been there before? Please help!

Flash Transparent Layer
hi,

i understand a transparent flash layer can be implemented on a html page.
so that the flash appears "floating" on the page, with the background transparent.

the transparent area are not clickable in Firefox. ie. the links beneath this flash layer cannot be click.

for IE is ok, but not with Firefox.
i wonder if there's a solution to this.

Transparent Flash Object Layer?
hey..

i am making my wedding website and i have a vertical slide out flash menu on the left.

so when you put your mouse along the side the menu slides out..

my question is:

my .swf file is about 150px wide so when i put a picture or anything beisde it there is a 150px wide black gap where the menu slides out to.. i want to make the .swf file transparent (ie wmode. transparent) and then put a picture under it so when the menu slides out, it slides onto the picture.

is that confusing?

i haven't found a sample of it online nor do i know if it's possible, but i thought i would ask

Can't Click Hyperlinks Under Transparent Flash Layer
I have a SWF in a transparent layer above a layer of HTML text and some hyperlinks. The SWF above overlaps the hyperlinks below it. I can't click on any of the hyperlinks under the SWF... is there a work around for this?

Flash Menu In Layer With Wmode Transparent
I made a flash header with a drop-down menu.

I placed the swf in a layer on top of the html-content of the website.

Problem:

All links that are right under the swf-movie (aka the layer) are not clickable.

How can I solve this problem so that all content underneath the layer with the swf is acessible ?

Site Dimensions Set At 100% But Shows Up Tiny In Netscape And Firefox Browsers
I have designed a bunch of flash sites and published them at 100% (dimensions) which works out great in Internet Explorer and Safari but when viewed in Netscape or FireFox they load really tiny. Is there something I'm doing incorrectly or does anyone know a fix for this?

[CS3] Transparent BG On Different Browsers
Hello all,

I've got an html site with flash plugins that I'm debugging on different browsers. I have below code to make the swf background transparent:

In the object code I added a paramenter:
<param name="wmode" value="transparent"/>

and the embed:
wmode="transparent"

This works great with Safari and IE, but does not work in Opera and FF. Does anyone know why, or point me towards a better line of code?

Hello everyone. Just abit stumped about a problem I'm having. I'm trying to animate a transparent shadow passing over a layer, but I want it visible only on that layer. I don't want it visible on any layers beneath the one I want affected, is this possible?

I've created an advertisment, a flash movie which pops up with a transparent background and its placed inside a layer. i need the code to exit/quit the movie.swf

i've placed an exit button but nuthin works closing the just the .swf file........fscommand works for exe and the javascript.close (getURL("java script:self.close();"); ) codes gives a window pop "the webpage you are veiwing is trying to close the window, do you want to close the window?"

i need a code which i can attach to the exit/quite button which wud jus exit/quite the flash.swf n not the browser window

Macromedia seem to say that its possible, i dl the latest version of flash player and i'm using netscape 7.0

Wmode=transparent In Embed Tag For Netscape
Can anyone help?

I have the beginings of a flash site at: http://www.visualpercepts.net

This works fine in MSIE. However in Netscape 7 when I use the wmode=transparent attribute in the embed tag it causes the menu buttons not work.

The buttons are not flash component buttons but my own creations.
I have tried creating a hit area over them but the problem still persists.

n.b. I have used wmode=transparent because I wanted gradient backgrounds which I have handled in HTML because when using flash gradient backgrounds they seem to slow down processing and the only way I know how to get to view them in flash is to use wmode=transparent.

If I remove the wmode=transparent from the embed tag and use bgcolor instead then the buttons work ok in Netscape so it is definitely a problem with the wmode=transparent attribute.

Can anyone suggest a workaround to solve this problem?

n.b. this site is still under development so menu buttons do not go anywhere except the exit button.

Transparent Movie Backgrounds In Netscape And Macs
Hi All,

Is it correct that it's not possible to create a movie in Flash that has a transparent background, enabling the html background upon which the movie sits to be seen through the movie, for Netscape and Macs???

I have tried adding my html background as the bottom layer of the movie but can't get the correct alignment with the surrounding elements of the frame which contains the movie.

Can anyone suggest a way around this problem?

Disable Buttons Below A Semi Transparent Layer?
I have a flash project which has a 'lightbox' that overlays the entire site. This site is going into Quality Assurance testing tomorrow and our Flash developer left on vacation. So, we are stuck.

The lightbox has a black graphic set to alpha 75% which overlays the entire site, however beneath it are buttons that are still clickable.

Is there a way to simply apply actionscript to the black overlay which disables anything below its layer?

Flash "pop-up" In A Transparent DIV Layer

I'm making some animations appearing in transparent DIV layers to use in a couple of sites. The animations work fine both in Internet Explorer and Safari, but fail to show when using Mozilla Firefox. The SWFs do load, but show beneath other Flash elements.

How Do I Click A Menu Item And Open Up A Semi Transparent Layer?

I learned Flash 4 a couple of years ago and did a few fairly nice but not too complicated flash sites. Since then I never picked it up. Now I want to do another web site.

I couldn't find any tutorials where when user clicks a menu item, a semi-transparent layer opens up and displays some text, images, etc.

Could someone give me some pointers -- a starting point -- on this?

I assume a button opens up a movie symbol but I'm not sure. Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Bug With Erase And Layer Blend Mode And Transparent Background In Windows
I have created a masking effect as follows.
- A layer with the object I want to mask;
- Above it, a layer with a movieclip in ERASE blend mode, which contains the rectangle I use as mask;
- These two layers inside a parent movieclip with LAYER blend mode.

The transparency effect does work fine. But, if I set the movie with a transparent background, it will work correctly on Mac, but not on Windows. Both in Firefox and Explorer 7, it will slightly alter the background color of the html page, showing the rectangle I have used as mask.

I know I can make the main _root background transparent by adding awmode = transparent property to the html embedding code. But what if I want more complex effects... it´s easier if you see what I´m trying to do... visit this URL and note the flash animation -> www.chapeco-online.com.br/test . It has a transparent background and a little fade in effect done by a simple motion tweening... what if I want to motion tween from a transparent color (so the html background shows up) instead of white? Is that possible?

Then with a button click i need to goto main.swf - level o enable it & of course remove movie s1.swf.

I'm at college learning how to use Flash. I was wondering something. I've noticed that you can drag and drop SWF files into a browser (I'ver tried this in netscape 7 and IE5.5) and it displays the whole movie, full screen.

My question is does this work on all browsers and if not which ones does it work with and what versions?

Flash 8 - Pop Up Browsers

I am designing a site for a painter frined of mine and in his gallery page, you click on a thumbnail of one of his paitntings and it it supposed to open a pop up browser with the same dimensions as the jpg as seen in this tutorial:

Flash For 64 Bit Browsers?
Any word on the development of Flash for 64 bit browsers? Last I saw from Adobe was a note posted over a year ago saying they were working on it. 64 bit browsers are really common now.

XML, Flash, And Browsers.
I am currently working on a site and I've used the gallery component from http://www.mr10.net/components/gallery/manual/

all is working fine on my PC, but i was wondering if the gallery component is compatible with older browsers (IE 5 and Netscape 6) as it uses XML.

The XML file just tells the flash where the pics are, and gives a title or description for each image, so would this mean the browser doesn't really use the XML and therefor is compatible with most browsers? or is that just crazy talk?

Hi everyone,

i'm new to this forum,but i'm really glad i joined in. it's been a number of years since i started using flash but there's one issue that just keeps hanging over my head. Flash in IE and Firefox. What is the best frame rate for the flash movies? i've aske a few people and got different answers. Some say 24, some say they do it at 120fps. When i use high frame rates in flash it looks fine in authoring environment but when i put it on the web it just looks slow. there are millions of site that work fine (smooth and fast movement), but it just doesn't seem to work for me. Anyone can answer this question? much appreciated!

Flash Cd Rom And Browsers
I have a flash Cd rom that plays full screen.

It also has links to the web.

Problem:

If there is an instance of internet explorer open behind the flash, when you click the 'visit the web site' link all other IE windows open behind the flash.

Is there a way to force all browser windows to open and have focus above the full screen flash?
