Trouble With Flash 8 And Quicktime Video Using Skinning
I have a handful of small quicktime videos from 3d animations I made. When I drag them into Flash 8 I select:
file path is on my computer/ Progressive download from a web server/ Flash 8 low quality/ selected my skin/ changed publish settings to flash player 8/ and click finish.
On my stage my window with a black screen and my buttons is created. A .Flv file is created with my quicktime video's name.flv.
The only thing is it does not work at all. I'm loading this swf into another swf. It worked perfectly before I did anything with video.
I created an intro scene, a button you click on which links to another scene with the video which supposivly links to the .flv file. The buttons work correctly in flash, but when I export the swf nothing even shows up except for my background. I have a stop frame on frame 13 after my intro finishes but my intro does not even play.
Having my video's black screen selected in flash, I set the content path to airplane.flv which is the flv file flash created from my quicktime movie and the skin to SteelExternalNoVol.swf which was created inside my flash files directory. All my files are in the same folder.
When I export the swf nothing shows up at all except for my gray background.
Does anyone know why this is not working? Thanks, Jeff

Trouble Skinning Standard Components In Flash 8
I'm attempting to apply skins to standard components (such as RadioButton, ComboBox, and CheckBox) in Flash 8 Professional. I have followed the instructions supplied in Flash Help ... with no luck.
The instructions I have followed are accessible by clicking here.
I've determined that all I really need to do is change every instance of the 'theme' color in the Halo Theme ...
from ... #00FF00 (which is a fluorescent Green)
to ... #DECA8D (tan)
Is there a way to simply replace all instances of the halo 'theme' color (#00FF00) with the new one (#DECA8D)? As stated earlier I have followed the instructions contained within the Flash Help associated with this topic to a "T" ... but it basically just consisted of manually changing the 'theme' colors. They didn't outline any type of ActionScript ... which I find hard to believe - that changes of this nature wouldn't require any code.
I really hope someone can simply inform me of something I'm missing - or there's a 'quick' fix.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Upload Quicktime Video File And Convert It To Flash Video
Hi
this is the problem i am facing.
I am uploading video files from my desktop to run in a website.
is there a way to convert whatever video format i upload to be converted to flash video format and stream online?
the website is the place where one can upload their personal videos and share with others online.
having a tool to convert the files to flash video would be a pain for the users. (most may be novices of technology)

Trouble Playing External Quicktime .mov In Flash
I'm using the code below to call a quicktime movie in Flash.

The Q graphic appears for 20 seconds, then gives me a question mark.
I'm using FlashCS3. the movie is 58megs.

Trouble With Component Skinning...
imported comboBox assets from haloTheme and edited the ComboThemeColor1 MC from the acid green to an orange to match my site. Then I checked the linkage and made sure it was set to Export in First Frame. But when i view my movie - its still acid green... any suggestions on what I'm overlooking? below is directions I was following. The only think different i did was bring in elements from HaloTheme instead of SampleTheme (I like the look of halo better).
# Select File > Import > Open External Library, and select the SampleTheme.fla file.
This file is located in the application-level configuration folder. For the exact location on your operating system, see About themes.
# In the theme's Library panel, select Flash UI Components 2/Themes/MMDefault and drag the Assets folder of any components in your document to the library for your document.
For example, drag the RadioButton Assets folder to the ThemeApply.fla library.
# If you dragged individual component Assets folders to the library, make sure the Assets symbol for each component is set to Export in First Frame.
For example, the Assets folder for the RadioButton component is called RadioButton Assets; it has a symbol called RadioButtonAssets, which contains all of the individual asset symbols. If you set Export in First Frame on the RadioButtonAssets symbol, all individual asset symbols will also export in the first frame.
# Double-click any skin symbol you want to modify to open it in symbol-editing mode.
For example, open the States/RadioFalseDisabled symbol.
# Modify the symbol or delete the graphics and create new graphics.
You may need to select View > Zoom In to increase the magnification. When you edit a skin, you must maintain the registration point in order for the skin to be displayed correctly. The upper-left corner of all edited symbols must be at (0,0).
For example, change the inner circle to a light gray.
# When you finish editing the skin symbol, click the Back button at the left side of the edit bar at the top of the Stage to return to document-editing mode.
Trouble Skinning Scrollpane Component
I am trying to change my scrollpane but no matter what I do, the green halo theme is always showing.
For example, I tried
mySP.setStyle("symbolColor",0xff0000)
and nothing happens. Seems like the arrow should be red. I have tried the color with and without quotes.
Thanks.

Quicktime Vs Flash Video
I am building a site that will show funny videos people upload. I want avoid having to convert all Files and create more work for myself. I have been reading up on flv's and I like it when used with Flashcom, but..

I am using Flash MX 2004 by the way.
If so then it will not work - just be too much video I would have to convert. With not sure how to stream Quicktime in Flash Video?
Can anyone help me.
Is there something user can download for free, to convert files to Flash Video then upload?

But it wont work!! Actually i dont know how to import it and in what format. Can anybody help me?

Exporting Flash To QuickTime Video
I have a question about the file format that is produced with "Export to Quicktime Video" option. I am taking pretty simple flash animations composed mostly of .png and other bitmap format files with everything live on the timeline on the Mac platform. The end result that I need is to get it to these specs:
1920w x 1080h pixels
Quicktime File format
Compression: none, animation, or graphics
29.97 fps, square pixels
If I set up my Flash document size as 1920w x 1080h pixels, set the frame rate at 29.97, then use the options in the Export QuickTime Video dialogue box (maintain ration, 24-bit color, best quality) and submit the file as that, am I producing what is needed? Or, do I still need to take the .mov and put it into After Effects and render out of After Effects? I am trying to simply find out if the exported file is sufficient, or if there is another step that I must employ. The only thing I have not indicated is square pixels, but is this a real quicktime video?
ANY help is greatly appreciated! susan

Quicktime Video Quality When Imported To Flash
Hello, I am trying to import a Quicktime video into Flash. The quicktime quality seems fine, but when I play it in flash and exported, it gets the lines breaking it up. I've tried both embedding it onto the timeline, and streaming it from the server and the quality looks the same. I also have tried an FLV and seem to get the same problem. Is there a setting I am missing or something?
Here is the original quicktime.(give it a sec to load)
http://www.r2integrated.com/clients/...est_Clip_1.mov
and here is what my swf winds up looking like with that video clip in it

You can see the horizontal white lines I am getting. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You
Skinning Video Component
Hello all -
What would be the easiest way to create a video playback in Flash like the one in the attached image? All I want is the progress bar, and a play button with the video. Do I need to skin a certain component in flash? If so - how would I do this?

Borderless Quicktime Video From Flash (not Using The Html File. Swf Only)
Ok. Like most I believed search and you will find. I have found a lot of good answers but none for my question.
Basically I have a flash movie with a portfolio section. I load levels into the movie and that works fine. The problem is with Quicktime video. How do I have the video popup and play at the right size with all the crap in the browser removed. This is seriously starting to get to me. I have been searching for this for over week and its time to get the site done. Ya know?
Here is the tricky part. All of these tutorials say add javascript into the movie using functions and stuff. Got that. Then they say edit the html. What html? These movies are being loaded on to the main movie as .swf files, not html. Therefore nothing to edit.
I may sound a little off the rocker but its getting to that point. Anybody know whats up? Please?
Flash 8 - How Can I Bring In A Quicktime Video Withou The Long Wait Time?
I can't figure out for the life of me why in Flash 8 (compared to Flash MX), I can't bring in a Quicktime video to the library without it encoding it for over 10 minutes?!?! In MX, I just imported it and it took about 2 minutes and I did with it what I wanted - now with Flash 8, all of the setting that I have tried leaves me with over 10-15 minute wait time?! Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
The video is Quicktime, 720X480 and 4 minutes long in duration.,

My flash movies don't play at the right speed when exported as quicktimes and burned onto dvd. I think it is the movie clips that play at double speed. Is it because I animated everything at 12 fps?
Flash Video Trouble
I have a video that plays in a FLV player when you click a button.
My problem is I have a close button, but when I click the close it does not stop playing the video, the sound remains in the background. What is the actionscript code to stop a video from playing?
Sounds simple but I can't figure it out.

Trouble Publishing Quicktime Mov On Intel Mac
Using Flash 8, Quicktime Pro 7.1.3, System 10.4.6 on Intel Mac 24" iMac
I clicked the "enable Flash tracks" button in Quicktime preferences, but I still get the "missing Quicktime component" messege when trying to publish a mov file. Restarted, re-installed, etc., but no luck. I'm able to import SFW into Quicktime and convert to MOV, but not export from Flash.
Another poster was having trouble with the same thing and thought it might be an Intel Mac bug, so I'm just wondering if someone with a similar set-up can verify that they're able to publish MOV files.
Thanks,

Trouble Stopping Video Clip In Flash 8
Hello,
I am having trouble stopping an imbedded movieclip in Flash 8.
I have BACK, FWD and STOP buttons on the timeline. I have 10 seperate swfs that need to go into an interface. When you click the FWD button it loads the next swf with the embedded video in it. When you hit the BACK button, similarly, it goes to the previous swf file. I've had no trouble getting the back buttons and fwd buttons to work.
Here comes the trouble...
I tried using Behaivors>Embedded video>stop so I could control whether the video is playing or paused but when I publish the file and click the STOP button, it does not stop the video. I chose to import the video without a skin so I can do the buttons myself because I did not like the choices Flash gave me. Perhaps the Behaivors just controls a movie clip? Can someone tell me the correct way to stop imbedded video? Any help woiuld be greatly appreciated!
In fact I give the helper a Mr. T smilie!

Trouble Importing Video Into Flash 8 Multi-scene Movie
A Quicktime movie that I import into a twenty scene Flash 8 Pro document refuses to play or even to appear when I Test Movie (or Test Scene). However, the same Quicktime movie has no trouble playing when I import it into a new Flash document. I get the same results with streaming or progressive importing and I am repeating the same exact steps in both cases.

QuickTime - Video
hi,
Does anyone have a suggestion as to the best way of incorporating a QT in a Flash project.
I'm hoping to find a solution that will allow me to load the QT with loadMovieNum(), making it possible to replace the QT by a different QT after the project has been published (...by replacing the QT file)
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'm searching for a while on internet, and try so many workaround, but I can't solve this problem. Someone can help me?

Export To QuickTime Video
Hi All,
I've been using Flash 4 since it came out. Recently I upgraded to Flash 8. I created a Flash project for a client. Well, they liked it so much they were woundering if it could be used as a commercial TV spot. I've been fooling around with different export features so I could preview this on Television through my DVD player, I saved it to QuickTime video, MPEG4 and burned the disk through iDVD and it played fine but looked a bit washed out and blurry. I'm at a lost, this is out of my realm. There's just too many variables to concider. The file consists of Raster images of paintings and PNG files. First, is this doable, and if so, can anyone suggest some export options.
Thanks in advance
Ron
Quicktime Video Quality
I'm trying to export my fla to a video format supported by iDVD. I was able to export to a quicktime movie .(mov) but the quality was horrible even though i chose the highest quality settings and used high res images in the fla. Are there settings that i missed? is there a better video format that i should be using? Image quality is very important for this project.
I'm still new to flash so any help would be great!
How To Upload A QuickTime Video
Hello,
I had asked this question some time ago, but I still do not know, how to do this. I would like to have a button on my web page, which would (on click) open a new pop up window with embeded QuickTime video clip. I would like to be able to control the color or texture of the background and dimensions of this window, lets say 400x300. Could anyone tell me, how to do this? Someone has told me, that I need to create a "container". But how?
Thanks for any advise or input.

Linking To Quicktime Video
i need to know how to in flash open a link to a quicktime video but still have it small and not open an entire browser window...
Where's My QuickTime Video Option?
Hi all,
I'm working away on a Mac in Flash MX 2004, using Export Video -> QuickTime Video (as oppose to a straight QuickTime export) so that I get the CODEC options. Great. However, some of the movies I've had to work on with a PC with exactly the same s/w -- MM Flash MX 2004. Not a problem, but for some reason now the Mac won't open them. So I went back to the PC, Export Video -> QuickTime... WTF?? Where's the option???
It simply isn't there? Is there a problem with my install, or did Macromedia not bundle that bit of code with the PC version? It's extremely frustrating. I'm going to have to get in to all sorts of nasty workarounds if I can't export to QuickTime Video (PNG) on a PC!

FMX QuickTime Video Import Question
Is there a file size limit on the QuickTime videos that can be imported? I have a 83.3Mb file compressed using Sorenson Video 3 and no audio compression. If I take a 10 second segment of the file, ~9Mb, it imports just fine. But the full file keeps prompting FMX that it needs more memory to import the file. I boosted the required memory for FMX to 192Mb of RAM.... and it's still not enough.
Thanks...
