Flash :: Turn On/off Visibility Of DIV Elements In An ASP Page From FLASH Buttons?

How To Turn Visibility On/off With RollOver?
I would like to have a button (x) control the visibility of a picture (y). When the user rolls over button (x) the visibility of picture (y) would tun off. And when the user rolls out of button (x) the visibility of picture (y) would turn on.

1. I created a movie clip of the picture ("hldoc"),
2. I gave it an instance name ("hldoc"), and
3. I wrote the following code for button (x):

on (rollOver) {
hldoc._visibility=false;
}

on (rollOut) {
hldoc._visibility=true;
}
_______________________________________

I even tried:

on (rollOver) {
_root.hldoc._visibility=false;
}

on (rollOut) {
_root.hldoc._visibility=true;
}

BTW the picture is in a seperate layer from the button, so if it is easier to control the visibility of a layer, then I could have the button turn on/off the layer's visibility.

Turn Flash Page Into An Html Page?
Hi all,

So here's my dilemma. Got this job to put together a site for a financial company with a friend of mine. We're both more into illustration more than anything else and have basic/ intermediate knowledge of flash but know very little about html..

This company really wants some flash design and were very specific with what kind of animations they want on the page. Thing is though, they're now saying that ranking in a search engine is essential. So we've tried to persuade them to ditch the flash idea completely and have an html only site...but because they really loved what we'd come up with (i personally think it's too much!) they asked if we could try and combine the two....

Any ideas on how we could use the animation as it is as a kind of intro but then have it turn into an html page automatically - without seeing too much difference when it changes? Is it possible to have the html 'under' the flash movie, then have the flash movie fade away and 'unload' to reveal the html page?

Hope this makes some kind of sense!

Flash Wants To Be On Top Of Other Page Elements
I'm using some javascript/dhtml to create a menu on the same page as some flash. I want the menu elements to appear on top of the flash but the flash wants to be on top of the menu.

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. The purple bar is a menu bar. Hover over the boxes, and they will drop down (but under the flash ):

Flash Elements, Page Placement
I see more and omre pages that seem to have flahs elements scattered on the page in a dynamic manner. They will move with the size of the window. I have done this a number of times in HTML with CSS with HTML elements, but not with Flash. I am curious, is it multiple .swf's working together and place independently into the HMTL, or is there a way to give Flash elements CSS style attributes so that they will mofe throughout the movie? I will paste some examplres below, just let me know how you think it's done. Thanks folks.

Modifying Flash Page Turn
Hi I need your help. I'm trying to reskin this FLA and put my own pages into it.
However the pages I am putting in have tabs sticking out of the top sides and bottom.

The problem I have is that this FLA removes the pages that are underneath the page on top of it. To put it another way, when a page covered by another it is removed.

How can I get the pages to stack ontop of eachother?

Load Page Elements Before Flash Objects (PLEASE HELP)
Hi,
I have a page containing flash elements. The problem is that the rest of the page will not load until the whole of the flash movie has loaded. I want the navigation etc. to load before this flash element.

A couple of people have suggested putting a preloader in the flash- this doesn't make any difference!

[F8] Printing Html Page With Flash Elements In It
Hi there - we're using http://www.maani.us/charts/index.php
flash charting software to produce form results. But we're having problems with printing.

From what we have found, having a Print Friendly page with all the results charts top to toe (about 35+) on one page results in about 750mb of data being sent to the printer (not good). Apparently this is because of the flash file being converted to postscript or something?

As we do not have control over the fla to add a PrintJob() command or something, does anyone know of any other way of over coming this problem - ie
causing the printer to become overloaded?

Delay The Loading Of Flash Elements On A Page
I have several flash elements on a page. Right now the load time is somewhat slow. Is it possible to have these elements load after the rest of the page and images are loaded?

Page Turn Effect In Flash CS4? (Like Indesign SWF)
Hi guys,

Not sure if this post is in the right place but I'll give it a whirl.

I'm trying to use InDesign CS4 to create a sort of online magazine just like xxx-rated. (please pardon the content, its the layout/functionality I'm interested in! Honest!)

InDesign CS4 is great at doing this just by putting everything together and outputing as a SWF with a page turn transition and Bob's your uncle. However InDesign will not output video and audio inside a SWF so you have to export a XFL file and then import your video & audio using Flash as normal. This is fine, however when you export your InDesign work as an XFL you then lose your page turn transitions!!!???

I know it can be done because I have seen it in monkey magazine and I was wondering if you guys could shed a little light on the subject for me please!?

Also I was searching the forum for answers before posting and found this really cool portfolio that has achieved the sort of effect I am after but the author says it was all hand coded which makes me want to cry.

Any help at all is greatly appreciated

Flash In Kiosk Mode - Turn Off / Turn On Launch Schedule
Hi Forum

I am creating a little flash app for a kiosk. We will be using a Mac. (not sure about OS yet, but probably 10.4 or up. )

1) Is there a way to automatically launch the flash app on startup on a mac?
2) Is there a way to schedule a shut off and launch time on a mac? We'd like the machine to automatically shut down at midnight and relaunch at 7am for example. Is there an application that handles tasks like these built in the OS or is there some application out there that would handle this?

Any advice or insight appreciated.

Adding Elements To Xml Page, As3

i was wondering how to add elements to an xml page. When I click on the thumbnail, the video loads in the player, and "image" loads beside it. I would like to add a sub scrollpanel for each video loaded (diplaying the chapters of the video). For now though, I am just trying to find the correct place to put it in the xml page. It seems the only elements flash recognizes are description, path, and data. here is my code:

As you can see, all the elements here are assigned except for type. If i add a .jpg or a .flv in type, i get the following error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.

Size Of Page Elements
Lost - Dazed & Confused. I have designed a page although, it is so huge, anybody's computer with even the very highest connection goes to sleep before it can download this huge page. I have texts, graphics, and photographs throughout this page. The only thing I can think of doing is to somehow reduce the sizes of these elements.
1) Does anybody know if that is what I need to do - or is there something else that I can do instead?
2) If I do need to reduce the sizes, can somebody please tell me what formats I need for the texts, the graphics, and the photographs.
3) Is there any easy way of doing this? Or would I have to go back to all of these programs that was used to create all of these things and change the formats there? If so, how would I do that?

The winter page is exactly like the summer page, and all of the vertical buttons show up their specific content inside the lake - how the index page is, but with more buttons.

I got this movie and tut from a book called Flash Hacks. I need to add buttons to the movie so you dont have to drag the pages. I was able to add the forward button with not too many problems, but the back button is really giving me a hard time. If someone could look at the movie and give me a hand, that would be great.

I know I'm in a little over my head with this page turn effect . But I really want to use it on a client's site.

Can someone explain in real small words:
1. how to change the images
2. how to add more pages

(I'm a newbie to Flash, but I've worked a lot with Dreamweaver, know a bit of programming, and am generally good at figuring out how to use programs. Sometimes I even read the manual. You'll just have to take my word for it that I'm not a dimwit: I did search the forums before posting.

I think part of the problem is the Flash interface is just not "clicking" with me yet. I'm getting a little lost in the frames and scenes.)

I remember awhile back, many sites were big on having the user turn the pages of a booklet in flash. Like the user grabs one corner and has to pull it across, like physically turning a page.

I was wondering if any of you could tell me how to do this or direct me to a tutorial or fla that tells me how to do this.

Buttons And Visibility
I have a button and a image symbol that I want to make appear/dissappear (toggle) depending on the actions performed by the user. I just can't figure out how to do this.

Visibility Of The Buttons
I do not want any visibility of my new buttons that I will create until these actions are fufilled by the person.

This example loads a new URL into a blank browser window. The getURL action targets the variable incomingAd as the url parameter so that you can change the loaded URL without having to edit the Flash movie. The incomingAd variable's value is passed into Flash earlier in the movie using a loadVariables action.

The first would be load variables

So how would i do these with the new buttons that I will create.

I have the first blue button loading the text and the url at http://people.txucom.net/kicker/leftframe.html

Really the buttons I have are just textual telling the person to keep clicking except the first button. The third is going to another website.

So I am going to some other rectangular buttons and these buttons are going to remain invisible until the variables are passed

Visibility With Buttons
I have a movie clip called MAIN MENU that is invisible by default. When I click my button to show the main menu I want it to become visible. I've tried code to make it become invisible on-click but I think I'm going wrong somewhere, I'm guessing its rediculously easy am I right?

[CS3] Menu Dropdown Over Other Page Elements
So I have this menu bar that is 700x35px. I know how to make my menu dropdowns upon mouse over, however, I only know how to do this by making the height large enough to accommodate the dropdown. This while increase the dimensions of my movie and I do not want to do this. So my question is:

Is there a way to maintain this height but have the dropdowns appear and display over any other page elements that the menu will be dropping down over? I hope I have been clear enough.
