Uploading Files With Flash - Sure, $10 Too.
I would like to find a way to upload files with flash. Unfortunately, my server runs off of unix so I cannot use ASP. I already have a folder open on my server to accept any kind of file uploaded, but no-one seems to know how to do this. The upload would have to work with all browsers just as flash does. Can anyone help? I'll go along with that other guy and give $10 to anyone that can give me some workable code or a link.

I made a rollover button and uploaded it so I could put it on my website. But where the button is uploaded, it's in the center of the screen, so when I put it on my website, it doesn't appeare where I want it because it has all the extra space around it. How do I upload it so it's in the upper left corner like pictures when you uploade them?

Uploading Files In Flash
Is it possible to allow the user to upload files using flash?
I have a html/php upload script, but if the user has a slow connection or trys to upload a large file, they end up waiting forever for any kind of feedback. (the html/php script only lets the user know anything is happening AFTER the upload is done, which can mean a 1,2,5, or 10 minute delay)
Please let me know what you think

Uploading Files Via Flash
Hi, I want to upload files via Flash, so a progress bar can been shown. Someone told me that only Flash 8 would be able to do this though... so I have two questions:
1) When will Flash 8 be purchaseable?
2) Are there any non-Flash alternatives for creating a file upload progress bar?

Uploading Flash Files With Ftp
I would like to have some advise:
What is the good way to upload the flash files with ftp?
Should I first complete my whole web-site and then load it as a single file?
Though that's the only way I know so far..
or is it preferable to upload smaller sections little by little?
Though I don't know how to do that...
Could anybody tell me which and how?
Kindly

Uploading Files Through Flash 8
Hi
I know that this is a wellcovered topic, but every time I try making an upload I get a 401 or 403 error. So I figure it should be something with the permission, however, I've set all of the files and folder to '777'.
Anyone who has experienced the same problems?
Or if you have experience with this working, and know a tutorial which helped you, I would just love a link
Thanks for the help
BTW. my host is flashlevel.net, so it should be compatible with PHP, right?
Uploading Files With Flash
I have this uploading script in php that I like. The only problem I see with it is that it doens't show the progress of the upload. So, I thought it would be a good idea to make a flash movie to manage the upload and showing the user a progress bar. Is this posible? It would be great
Thanks
Uploading Files To Flash Site
I want to be able to have visitors to my site upload their own jpgs or gifs. This is for a project where one would design their own sticker, and they could use graphics they already have. The user would alsl have to be able to delete the image if they changed their mind. Then they would have to be able to save the file, if they decided on a design. I am pretty sure this is possible, and if anyone can give me a direction to start in, at least, I would greatly appreciate it.
New Flash...uploading Files To Server..HELP
Hey people.....this might sound really stupid but I need the answer. I have exported my flash movie and put it in an html file named index. What other files do I need to upload to my server besides the HTML file that holds my Flash movie??? Also...i already uploaded my html/ flash file along with but it just seems to load forever when i try to access my website and the preloader never shows up. Do I have to do something or tell something to start the movie???? Everything looked fine when I looked at it in flash when I tested the movie in flash and in IE when I put it in my html....HELP????????????
Uploading Client Files In Flash
I have a 100% Flash application web site and I am trying to find a way to add a section where visiting clients can upload graphic files from their computer to me from within the Flash interface (probably via FTP). I have seen this type of implementation on a few other sites (Mostly Print Shops and Service Bureaus). Do you have any suggetsions?
[MX04] Uploading Files With Flash CS3
My brain is about to explode from trying to figure this out. I am about to upgrade to Flash CS3 and have heard that the new version allows users to upload their local files onto your server. Does this require PHP or ASP files?
I am completely new to programming and only know the basics. I currently have MX 2004 and have tried unsuccessfully to incorporate a form email on my site that would allow the user to type in a message and have it be sent to my email account. This required either a PHP or ASP script on my server. I could never get it to work so I called my host and they told me scripts like that wouldn't work. He continued on a few more minutes explaining why, but I didn't understand what he was saying.
Sooo....my question is: with the new Flash, will I be able to have people upload files to my server without the use of a separate PHP or ASP file?
I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense but I have been searching the internet for hours and have confused myself more than I though possible. And again, my programming knowledge is oh-so-basic.
Thanks in advance!

I'm Trying To Understand Uploading Files In Flash
Hi everybody,
I'm going to develop a flash application which involves uploading images and saving them on the server using a flash interface.
I wonder where I can find a good and complete tutorial about this topic? What I can guess is that flash needs to interact with a PHP script to do the real upload, am I right? if this is the case, that would be great as it will have a lot flexibility to work on the uploading file like resizing it, etc...
Please tell me if I'm incorrect and kindly link me to a good source where I can learn more information in this regard.
Thank you all,
Hadi
Action To Allow Uploading Files To Flash, Then Send
We're working in FlashMX, and we need to allow people to add an attachment and send it with the rest of the text from a form they'll be filling out. The variables and text info will be sent directly from the Flash page, but we want to let the people browse for and add attachments if desired. The entire web site was done in FlashMX.
Or is there some other way around this without reworking the whole site between Flash and Dreamweaver. We work in Macintosh, so ColdFusion appears to be out.

Uploading Flash Files-slow To Take Effect On Site

Flash Uploader Gets Unresponsive When Uploading Multiple Files.
When uploading multiple files, sometimes my browser will become unresponsive and the following error message will popup:
A script in this movie is causing Macromedia Flash Player 9 to run slowly. If
it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to
abort the script?
If you press no, the script goes on without being slow. So why there is an error-message.
I didn't use for and while loops. And i didnt's use much code.
Published with Flash Professional 8
I use Flash player 9 + Windows XP Pro SP2 + IE
I'm making an upload app for a client, so how can i get rid of that message?

Uploading Html Files With .swf Files In Them
I created a website and published it in Flash. I then used Dreamweaver to create the HTML file that I would upload to my server. But, when I go to my site, the .swf file does not load.
Both the HTML file and the .swf file were uploaded using an FTP client, so I don't know why it's not showing up.
Uploading Files Via MX-PHP
I'm using the good ol' MX-PHP-MySQL combo and I'm in need of uploading files from the client to server.
This is easy to do in straight html with form tag:
form enctype="multipart/form-data" action="somephpscript.php" method="post"
input type="file" name="myfile"
input type="submit" value="Upload"
/form
This works great with the browse button and everything!
If I have to I'll create a pop-up html form for each upload, but I can already see the end users complaining about how annoying it is (and quite honestly I do not blame them!).
How can I do something similar in Flash MX?????
Uploading Files
I'm wondering if someone cen help me with this. I'm attempting to come up with a means of allowing a user to upload an image to my site through a flash interface. Has anyone managed to do something like this? An important aspect of this would also be that once the file is uploaded, it would be renamed to a number based on a counter variable within flash (i.e., if the counter in flash is currently set to 7, this file would be named "8.jpg" and the counter then reset to 8). Can anyone help me with this? (i'm currently doing my text file manipulation using some very simple php).
Thanks!
Uploading Files
Sorry if this is a silly question, but I've just made my first ever loader for my web site. How do I attach it so that it automatically starts when people visit my site, and then how do I get my index page to show once the loader has run?

Uploading Files Through As3
Hi guys,
Im trying to upload some files with as3. Iv read a few examples and seem to be having little success :s . Currently im working on one from adobe. it goes as follows:
ActionScript Code:
package {
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.*;
import flash.net.FileReference;
import flash.net.URLRequest;
public class FileReference_event_select extends Sprite {
private var uploadURL:URLRequest;
private var file:FileReference;
public function FileReference_event_select() {
uploadURL = new URLRequest();
uploadURL.url = "http://www.[yourDomain].com/yourUploadHandlerScript.cfm";
file = new FileReference();
file.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, selectHandler);
file.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, ioErrorHandler);
file.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, progressHandler);
file.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, completeHandler);
file.browse();
}
private function selectHandler(event:Event):void {
var file:FileReference = FileReference(event.target);
trace("selectHandler: name=" + file.name + " URL=" + uploadURL.url);
file.upload(uploadURL);
}
private function ioErrorHandler(event:IOErrorEvent):void {
trace("ioErrorHandler: " + event);
}
private function progressHandler(event:ProgressEvent):void {
var file:FileReference = FileReference(event.target);
trace("progressHandler: name=" + file.name + " bytesLoaded=" + event.bytesLoaded + " bytesTotal=" + event.bytesTotal);
}
private function completeHandler(event:Event):void {
trace("completeHandler: " + event);
}
}
}
My question regards the file : "http://www.[yourDomain].com/yourUploadHandlerScript.cfm"
Now, i get the impression this should be replaced by a php or similare to do the actual uploading. Is this correct? If so does anyone have an example of a php file that should work with the above as3 code..
Any help would be much appreciated,
Many thanks
Uploading Swf Files
I inserted a swf file on my web page and it works fine in preview mode but when I upload it to the server it does not show on the page. Just a blank spot. I put the file and .fla file on the root folder and then tried it on a separate folder. It shows when I do a view source but nothing on the page. The page I tried this on is http://www.ca1dmat.org/members.html. Is there something I am missing or did wrong?
Uploading Mp3 Files
Hi,
I came across this file uploader: http://www.flash-db.com/Tutorials/upload/
Only problem is that I need to upload mp3's and not images. I changed the AS so I can read/upload mp3's, but when I upload I get a IO ERROR.
Am I doing something wrong? Please go easy on me, Im not that advanced in flash. Any help is greatly appreciated?
Uploading Files In AS3
I know this has been covered, but I've been working at this sort of thing for months and haven't made any significant progress. It's time I asked you folks.
I want to upload a local text file to a server (via FileReference and some PHP) and then have Flash load it (via URLLoader). I have never gotten this to work. And I think the problem lies somewhere between the FileReference.upload() call and the dispatch of the DataEvent "uploadCompleteData".
To simplify things, I decided this time around to make an Uploader class that handles the entire uploading process. You can view it here:
http://homepage.mac.com/rezmason/Uploader.as
There's a chance that this class is entirely sound, and that the issue is with my PHP (which I can make no sense of anyway). But I'm trying to cover all the bases.
Once I get this to work, I'll probably refine it to be more multipurpose. Feel free to use the class in any way you want. Heck, put it in your own package or something, it's not like it's a programming masterpiece.
.txt Files Not Uploading
I've been having alot of problems with a Flash site I took over webmaster duties for, and I believe most of the problem is the server (not the actionscript). Sometimes the .txt files don't upload into the site, it just sits there saying "loading...". I'm not a Flash expert by any means, but I have gone over the actionscript with a college instructor of mine and he can find no problem. (I didn't create the site, I just maintain it.)
By checking the site on several computers ~ different locations and different connections (dial-up, DSL, cable-modem, T1) we also discovered the site seems to work most of the time on macs and Netscape. My question is:
Can I ask for forum members to check the site and see if the links work for them (i.e. the text loads) and report their findings? i.e.
Yes links worked, computer (Mac or PC), connection (dial-up, cable, etc)
or
No links don't work, computer (Mac or PC), connection (dial-up, cable, etc)
There are only a few main navigation links I am checking, and I would spell out which to check. No need to spend alot of time checking every subcategory. I just don't know if this is allowed.

Uploading Files/Not Appearing
Help! Has anyone run into this problem? I've uploaded a certain file a few times. It works correctly the first couple times, but after I upload a few more times after that, nothing appears until I hit refresh (and sometimes that doesn't work) or until I clear my temporary internet files. This is so frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Uploading Files To The Server Using Cgi
I have a question. I know how to use CGI scripts to create and modify files on the server. I also know how to upload files to the server using CGI and html. My question is: can I do the same in flash. Is there any way I could just send the location of the local file to the CGI script, and then the script will start uploading the file. And also, I do not want to use SWF/FLASH Studios, because after I use them my application will be unusable on the web. It all has to happen in an SWF file. Please give me some ideas how to accomplish this. THanks a lot.

Uploading Files, A PHP Question
hello all
i need some help with the following PHP code,
I found a file uploading tutorial on the net for flash8, problem is it directs the data to a directory, when i need it to be emailed to me.
<?php
//create the directory if doesn't exists (should have write permissons)
if(!is_dir("./files")) mkdir("./files", 0755);
//move the uploaded file
move_uploaded_file($_FILES['Filedata']['tmp_name'], "./files/".$_FILES['Filedata']['name']);
chmod("./files/".$_FILES['Filedata']['name'], 0777);
?>how could i change this, so it sends the data (which in this case is images) to my email address, camoconnell@gmail.com?
Would i integrate the following code some how?
<?php
$sendTo = "camoconnell@gmail.com";
$subject = "your images have arrived, your majesty";
mail($sendTo, $subject);
?>and what changes might need to be made to my flash file, if any?
