it works pretty well, but i have 2 questions

1st: is it possible to limit a dynamic text fiel to only display the numbers left of the , for example: 66,66 -> 67. How do i do that???

2nd: Can flash detect the IP of the visitors, so that nobody can vote 2 times??? how do i do that??

I'm a long time user of Flash, but new to actionscript. I'm developing an interactive map of the 2004 electoral count that uses current state poll data. If Kerry's number is higher: the state turns blue, if Bush's number is higher the state turns red.

Here's the syntax i've been using on the movie clip for missouri...

var kerry = 43;
if (bush > kerry){
redstate = new Color(s_MO);
redstate.setRGB(0xff0000);

One Vote Per Ip Address
dear friends,

I have built a html website recently.
the main purpose of the website is to gather votes, and i have been using a bravenet poll, the free version.

the problem is that a visitor can vote after every 24 hours, which makes the vote results not so reliable.

Is it possible to build a poll where only one vote per ip address is acceptble?

What's the best way to include jpegs? Want to display a random choice from a set of 12 jpegs. What am I missing?

1.)Convert each to movieclip then attachmovie
pros: easy
cons: labor intensive, clunky

2.)Put all into frames of one MC, then attachmovie & gotoAndStop(rand.)
pros: easy
cons: stage-based

3.)Load with loadMovieNum from external file
pros: looks possible, AS-based
cons: are associated files a pain when putting a game in different places? i.e. submitting it?

4.)Putting in an invisible "dropZone" MC on the main timeline
pros: looks possible
cons: seems odd, stage-based

5.)?

Vote Script
Not sure if i am in right place! But am looking for help with script and information on it. I want a vote section on my site where you cannot click "no" and have to vote yes.

Vote Component
i have a vote component.

what i would like ( and my client) is to have check marks flash while the voting compnent is waiting for someone tovote,

i made the flashing sequence of on and off checks, then remembered there is a stop() in the first frame.

what would a work around be so the vote component would still work properly but allow a flashing sequence.

if this is even possible

Hey i have made a vote system in flash an it works gr8 using php and mysql, but when i try and put the radio buttons etc into a movieclip and then publish the flash, the script for the vote system doesnt work?? can some one help me out as i want to have it in a movieclip. Thanks for any reply's

Flash Poll That Only Allows One Vote Per IP?

Is there anyone who has luck creating a flash poll that only allows each user to vote once (each unique IP)? Any direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to develop a poll with live results.

Live Vote - MSNBC.com
Does anyone know how they do the 'Live Vote' on msnbc.com, and get the results back without refreshing the page?

Go to http://msnbc.com and click on sports in the left nav, scroll down a bit and you'll see the 'Live Vote' on the right side.

If I had to guess the datasource is an XML doc, they grab the data when the page loads, when you vote they append to the XML doc, grab the data from the XML doc again.

But how do they do it without a page refresh?

Vote XML Cause Radio XML To Restart?
Good day;

I have a vote system on my site that reloads the xml variables to display the new hit. The problem is that everytime you vote it causes the song currently playing in the Mp3 Radio to restart or, if stopped, to play again.

On Site Load:
-The Radio loads its contents from an XML file, and starts playing (located on its own Level);
-The Mp3Vote XML file loads and displays the current votes (located on its own level);

On Vote Click:
-the Mp3Vote Movie Clip (ten frames in timeline, stops at frame 10), goto's frame one and plays back to frame 10, thus reloading the XML info.

The Problem:
-Both the Radio and Vote AS is in its own MovieClip,
-Scene One only has 1 frame,
-RAdioXML MovieClip only has one frame, thus there "should" not be any reloading of the Radio

LiveMotion 2 VS. Flash POLL - VOTE NOW
LiveMotion 2 now has full support for AcrionScript and some tools that make it easier to work with in some ways than Flash. Adobe has now put it at close range to heavily compete with Flash and I'm wondering how many people would use LiveMotion in replacement of Flash.

Help With Creating A Button Counter That Displays An Average Vote
This is tough to explain, but here goes.
I have created a flash voting page, where users can click on the number's 1 through 10 in order to rate an image.
I would like that each button has an actionscript that records the click and adds 1 count to the "number of Votes" dynamic text field. I would also like that after a person has clicked on one of the numbers to vote, that particular number is registered, then averaged so that the new average is displayed in an "Average Vote" dynamic text field.
I have figured out how to actionscript it so that the numbers consistently add up, I haven't figured out however how to create and average, or deal with this in PHP so that when the page is refreshed (or brought back onto the browser,) the new totals in both dynamic fields are recorded.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
This is the actionscript I have on the number 1 button at the moment

Wanted : Tutorial/movie For Flash Poll / Vote System
Does anyone has a flash tutorial how to make a flash poll/vote system ?
I prefer not using MySql , but if you find one with it I wouldn't mind.
I found one here on flashkit but diden't found it very usefull.
