i have a scrpit which changes the background image in a swf based on the time of day.i was woundering does anyone know how i can turn this swf into a wallpaper for your computer. i found an applicationt that allows you to make a swf wallpaper but it wont play the script that the swf contains. thanks alot.

hi, i'm a graphic design student with a couple of flash mx questions i'm hoping someone can help me with. I'm working on my personal portfolio site right now and my ?'s are:

1. On the resume page, I want someone to be able to click and download a
pdf of my resume. how do i set up a button to do this?

2. I also have a page where I want the user to be able to download
wallpapers. I've seen sites where when you click to download a
wallpaper, it pops up in a new window at the chosen screen size
(i.e. 1024 x 768, 800 x 600). I would like to do this also.

can anyone answer these questions for me? i would appreciate it very much
and i'll let you know the url of my site when i put it up.

Flash As Wallpaper
I created an SWF that is 1152x864 to set as my wallpaper (using Windows 2000/XP). I embeded it into an html file and set that as my wallpaper but the problem is I can't get the normal desktop right-click menu anymore or select more than 1 file by clicking and dragging. Does anyone know of a way to make flash into a wallpaper that will still allow you to get the normal right click menu and select icons normally as well as allow you to click on hot spots in the flash. All help would be greatly appreciated.

then repeat the pattern. Can you do this on flash or should i use another application?

Save As Wallpaper
Hi I'm trying to explain how to select a photo and set it as a desktop wallpaper.

Heres what I've got so far.....

To download my wallpapers:
1. Simply click on the wallpaper of your choice.
2. The wallpaper will then open up in a new window.
3. Right click on the wallpaper and select "set as background" (winxp)

As you can see, I know how to do it in winxp, but I dont know how to do it for users using win95/98/2000 or mac.

Copuld you guys help me out and let me know how each operating system saves photos as wallpapers.

User Creating Their Own Wallpaper
Hello everyone,

Does anyone have a idea or an fla that can allow a user to create their own wallpaper and download it, below is a detailed list of what i'm looking for.

- the user is given a few images to choose from, then a few headers they can add on top of the image, and maybe allowed to add their signature.

- Then the user is asked to choose from a few monitor sizes

- then by clicking a button, can flash create this image, open it in a browser, allowing the user to download the image.

I have seen this but wondered if it is possible in flash.

Anyone out there with any answers please help me....

Download Wallpaper From CD Mac User
Please Help!!

Badly in need of info regarding downloading wallpaper from CD without browser window to open... I've used Flash MX for the main swf (which will be output as a projector/.exe file on final run)

I'm mac user, so Flash Studio Pro is out of the question.

And I need this to work on PCs and Macs...

Not good with paths, so your guidance on this would be very much appreciated.

For this purpose, lets name the CD as JESS.
Within JESS theres the projector file call JESS PROJECT, as well as a folder call WALL.
Within WALL there is a file call WALLPAPER1.pct.
How do i create my links in this case?

Massive Wallpaper Download?

In this page http://www.desktopmachine.com you will find a lot of cool wallpapers and if you click an image you will be redirect to a page like this http://www.desktopmachine.com/framepic.php?id=5750&size=1024
where 5750 is the number of the wallpaper so 0001 must be the first wallpaper. I was wondering if is posible to make a program or something in flash that browse the first page and then when is completly loaded it will browse the next one until it finishes with all the images. So I will be able to find all the images in the temp internet folder.
I tried to open the page with a text area component like a xml (it doesnt look like fine but the important thing is that it shows the images) but I couldent make a preloder or something with getTotalbytes, etc. That shows me that It was completly loaded I also tried to make a program in delphi but I had the same problem. Then I thought that it could be posible if I create a webpage diveded on frames and the flash movie in one of the frames that load the next wallpaper in another frame when it is completly loaded but I couldnt make it because I couldnt make a code that tells me that the page was completly loaded. So do you have any idea of how I can make kind of movie that when the wallpaper is completly loaded starts to download the next one. Or anything that could help to solve my problem. Any way I could do it with time intervals but it wouldn be the best thing because maybe some wallpapers wont be loaded. Also if you have a javascript, any program, code or something that could help me I would really apresiate it.

Flash Window Into A Wallpaper (or Jpeg)
flash window into a wallpaper image (or jpeg)

I am making a flash site where the user (a child) creates an on-screen image in the flash window,

then I want the user to be able to press a button that would "take a picture" of the flash window contents and makes it the wallpaper. (no movement or interactivity; just a flat image)

This would be easy to do if it weren't a flash window in a browser;
for example if the image was a jpeg image in the browser they could just hold down the right mouse button and "save as wallpaper"

1. Is there any way to do this in flash?

2. Is there any way to trick the browser into seeing the flash movie as a single image (like a JPEG) so the user could right-click save it as wallpaper?

3A. I believe Flash Generator can create a GIF image from the users flash file, but I can't afford Generator.
3B. Swift Generator doesn't create JPEG or GIF images, Correct?
3C Is there any other software out there that does this?

4. Are there any other ways to convert the active flash window into a solid, flat image? (Like a JPEG or GIF)
Macs used to have a "print to file" function. Does this exist on the PC?
What about the print screen/window key which captures the image to "clipboard". Any way to use that?

I would like to make it work w both PC and Macs but will settle for PCs if I have to.

Can I in any posible way save a "screenshot" of my swf during runtime on a website. I know it's not posible within Flash itself (at least not until AS3 ), but perhaps with a little help from a serverside friend like PHP/ASP?

Flash Desktop Wallpaper With Exec Commands
Hey.

I have a problem when Im trying to make a desktop with fscommand exec. Since the exec commands only work in flash SAplayer files (.exe and not .swf) I have a problem making it my desktop wallpaper. If I set the wallpaper to the movie.html file it will use the movie.swf and not the movie.exe one. I want to set the movie.exe file as a wallpaper so I can execute program files from my wallpaper. Anyone have a clue how to make this happen? Or is there a way to make exec commands work in the .swf file? Many thx / Gou2anga

Advice Needed On Creating A Desktop Wallpaper
Hi,

Just after a bit of advice, I'm not even sure if what I'm trying to do is possible...

We want to create a default desktop wallpaper for networked Windows XP PCs, the idea being that the wallpaper will automatically load & regularly refresh the 'Headlines' from our intranet news stories with link to the full .html page.

Now I know I can create a wallpaper from a .swf file - however, I was hoping it was possible to load an external .html file into a .swf file?? is this possible?
If not have you any suggestions how you may go about it?

To clarify:
If we had the following html page on our intranet:

<body>
<a href="http://ourintranetsite.co.uk/newsStory1.html">News Story 1</a>
