Warning Page
Hi there,As a totaly new user of Flash I would like to ask a question.I am working on a projector containing a main menu with two buttons. Connected to these two buttons are two videofilms.When one of the buttons is pushed and the video is loaded I would like to see a page, in thise case a jpg. file which askes the viewer for some patience.After reading some books I found a progressbarr component but that is far to complicated for me at the moment.Can anyone tell me if this page, asking for some time is easier to make than a progressbarr, and how it is made?Thanks in advanceThijs

Embedding Flash Movies In An HTML Page Without Browser Warning...
Hi guys...I have been using Flash for some time now....My problem is how to embbed a flash swf movie file in an HTML or XHTML page without the browser warning the user that this web site is trying to install ActiveX content on her or his computer....Almost all professional sites does not display a warning message in the browser...So how can I do this???
Warning
Hi everybody;
I used the code 'loadVariablesNum' to send data to php page from the flash page,, when u press send a warning message appears asking to allow the operation or not, see a test page:
www.baytalmansour.com/ehab/test001.html
Could anyone tell me how to overcome this message?
Ie6 Warning
Ok, so I'm working on a website for someone and I upload it and here's what he says:
"Every time a page loads it leaves a blank placeholder for the flash movies and a tiny "security warning" bar appears at the top of the page, saying the page contains "Active content". This appears to be un-turn-offable."
So fine, yet another headache. I track down the pdf from adobe about flash player security updates. And I'm reading through it but have no idea what I need to do, what code will do this and where the code needs to go to get this warning to stop. Anyone dealt with this and can give a quick tutorial about it. Frustrating because I can't even mess around with this stuff and test it on IE6.
I'm on OSX and tested it on Safari, Firefox, IE5 with no problems.
And as we all know Microsoft dumped IE for mac so I can't check myself.
Thanks All!
For reference here's some of the "highlights" from the adobe PDF:
Code:
API Names Description
Permit SWF files from a specified sandbox to read (or cross-script) the
calling SWF file. The allowInsecureDomain() API also permits access
to HTTPS SWF files by non-HTTPS SWF files.
Note: For Flash Player 7 and earlier, these methods permitted access to all
SWF files in the sandbox of the calling SWF file. Starting with Flash
Player 8, these methods permit access only to the calling SWF file itself.
System.security.
allowDomain()
System.security.allowInsecureDomain()
Informs Flash Player of the location of a policy file in a nondefault location,
or the location of an XMLSocket policy file.
System.security.loadPolicyFile()
System.exactSettings Determines whether exact or old-style superdomain rules are used to determine the scope of shared objects and privacy settings.
Data Loading Controls
LocalFileReadDisable=[0, 1]
(0=false, 1=true)
Setting this option to 1 disables all local content execution.
If this is set to 1, Flash Player cannot read any files referenced by a path (including the first SWF file that Flash Player opens) on the user’s hard disk. Specifically, the ActionScript XML.load(), loadVariables(),
loadMovie(), and getURL() methods, and anything else that maps to a target on the local drive, is blocked. Reading runtime-shared libraries is also blocked if this flag is set. Reading local shared objects is allowed, although only if the administrative user has not revoked the permission to write them.
FileDownloadDisable=[0, 1]
(0 = false, 1 = true)
If this is set to 1, the ActionScript FileReference.download() method is disabled; the user is not prompted to allow a download, and no downloads using the FileReference API are allowed. If this is set to 0,
Flash Player allows the ActionScript FileReference.download() method to ask the user where a file can be downloaded to, and then Flash Player downloads the file after the user approves the file save location.
FileUploadDisable=[0, 1]
(0 = false, 1 = true)
If this is set to 1, all FileReference.upload(), FileReference.browse(), and
FileReferenceList.browse() activity is disabled; the user is not prompted to upload files, and no uploads using the FileReference API are allowed. If this is set to 0, Flash Player allows files to be uploaded using the FileReference API. The user is prompted to select a file to upload and to approve the selection.
LocalStorageLimit=[0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
(0 = false, 1 = 0K, 2 = 10K, 3 = 100K, 4 = 1 MB, 5 = 10 MB, 6 = unlimited)
If this has a value other than 0, that value indicates a hard limit on the amount of local storage that Flash Player uses. The Settings dialog box is not able to specify more storage than this limit, but it is able to specify
less. If it does specify less, that setting is honored. If the value is 0, the Settings dialog box is honored.
Warning
Does anyone know how to get rid of this? Or does it matter? I keep getting it every time I control/enter to preview my work. I have three different folders for three different pages and each page uses a UIS scrollbar - so theres one in each folder. I tried renaming them, it doesnt work. I also tried deleting two of them and using the same scrollbar on each one. That didnt work either. The preview looks find to me, so I don't even know if this warning matters at all. But here it is, if anyone knows, please reply! Thanks!

Receiving Warning
I downloaded the trial of version 2 and got right into putting some cool stuff together.
Then I started getting this message box that says:
Your system resources are very low.
it goes on to say something about saving my work and then shutting down other applications.
What exactly does this error mean? and will following the warning fix it completely?
thanx

OK...Last one and then I'll be done!
I've got a stand-alone ecard flash presentation for the company. In it, there is a portfolio of web sites we've created. Music plays in the background while the portfolio is displayed.
What I want to do is to have a user be able to click on the web site name to open up a browser to see the site being presented in the portfolio. Because the music is playing though, I figure it is best for the flash presentation to shut down if a user goes to the web site.
To do this, I'd like a warning dialog box to pop-up that says: "Do you wish to close the presentation and go to this web site?" The user would be presented with "Yes" and "Cancel"
If the user clicks yes, an fscommand quits the application and launches the browser, if the user clicks cancel, they stay where they are.
Anybody know how to accomplish this?
New Streaming Bug -- Warning For E
The problem is that about 10% of the time when a movie is loaded and your audio is streaming, the audio begins and will continue to stutter. If you stream your sound, you *will* encounter this bug, regardless of the size or content of your SWF. The framerate will drop to half and the player will eventually slow down and then no audio will be heard -- you have to restart the program.
If you haven't seen the bug, you haven't been testing enough -- try a Windows 2000/XP machine and burn your content onto CD to reproduce it quickly. It also happens from your hard drive or even right from the web so it will happen to everyone.
You definitely don't want your clients to see this -- once you get it, you're toast.
If you know a way around this bug, please post it so everyone can see.
Thanks.
Help WithActiveX Warning
hi there
A client is complaining that they are getting an ungigned activeX warning in their browser when viewing an anim I did for them.
They asked if I could produce a signed version, but frankly I don't know what this entails or whether there is some way to prevent this problem.
Any info MUCH appreciated!!

Delete Warning - How To Get Rid Of?
I recently had a problem that someone here advised me was likely due to a bad install of MF - so I reinstalled. Did nothing - I eventually fixed the problem on my own. MF was and continues to be fine - had nothing to do with previous problem. Except now that I've reinstalled - when I delete items from the library, I get a delete warning that only used to happen if I deleted a whole bunch at once - now it pops up for even one item being deleted.
Is there any way to turn this off???
Not Saved Warning
Basically when somebody tries to close there browser window but the information on the page is not saved i need the user to be notified and ask them if they are sure they want to close without saving and the 'Yes' or 'No' buttons.
Ive seen this done on a couple of sites so i know its possible but my searches for tutorials have turned up nothing.
The other thing that makes this a problem is the information is in a swf.
If somebody could just point me in the right direction or give me any type of information that would be really helpful. Even how to do it in just Java.
Thanks
Linkage Warning
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help. I've built a flash file, but when it runs I get the following error
**Warning** The linkage identifier 'ButtonRadial' was already assigned to the symbol 'ButtonRadial', and cannot be assigned to the symbol 'ButtonRadial', since linkage identifiers must be unique.
What's going wrong? I realise that you cannot have two linkage names that are the same, but the message seems to say that the problem is that the same object has two linkage names (which are the same).
Confused...
Cheers

Weird Warning
I got this warning when I'm running my flash file, compiling it to a swf.
Branch between 7231 and 40005 exceeds 32K span.
What is that?
Warning 1082?
Hi, I'm getting a warning when compiling. This is the message:
Warning: 1082: Migration issue: Method frame1 will behave differently in ActionScript 3.0 due to the change in scoping for the this keyword. See the entry for warning 1083 for additional information.
I don't recall doing much, just creating a new project, going to File->Import->Import Video, importing an flv, choosing a skin, and then publishing...
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Active X Warning
I'm using some java script to write to a local file fscommanded from a flash movie. This will be used on a company network not connected to the internet so there are no security issues (that i have to bother about anyway).
Once you've run it once and authorised the script with the virus checker thats not a problem. However it gives me a warning "An ActiveX control on this page might be unsafe to interact with other parts of the page. Do you want to allow this interaction?".
From what i've read low security settings on the security tab in ie should mean this message doesn't appear. However I still get it. Any one know how to sort this? (or a site more geared to answering this kind of problem?)

Warning: 406 - Not Acceptable
Good evening,
I have a Flash game where I am trying to load an XML file from a website. I have a a crossdomain policy file for when I run the swf on my local machine. The XML file loads fine in the Flash Player when launched from the idea, but not outside of the idea.
I have the debugger player. When I try to load the XML file here's what I get:
Warning: 406 - Not Acceptable

I'm not sure how to fix that 406 error. Any ideas? Thanks!

Warning 1090 ?
I'm having the following warning, I'm not really sure if it has any bad effect on my animations or if it matters but it would be really nice if I could fix it somehow:
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onEnterFrame is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'enterFrame', callback_handler).
Could someone explain why am I getting that warning ?
If this helps, I'm just playing around in AS 3.0, here's the code ( a class ):
ActionScript Code:
package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.Event; public class FirstAnimation extends Sprite { private var ball:Sprite; public function FirstAnimation() { init(); } private function init():void { ball = new Sprite; addChild(ball); ball.graphics.beginFill(0xFF0000); ball.graphics.drawCircle(0, 0, 40); ball.graphics.endFill(); ball.x = 20; ball.y = stage.stageHeight / 2; ball.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, onEnterFrame); } private function onEnterFrame(event:Event):void { ball.x++; } }}
Thanks.
Getting Warning Using XMLList.contains()
Hello good people!
I'm having a problem using the XMLList.contains() method. It seems to run like it should, but I keep getting these annoying warnings in the output window:
Warning: 3594: contains is not a recognized method of the dynamic class XMLList.
I'm adding an item from xmllist1 to xmllist2 if its value is as required and if it isn't already present in xmllist2. Here's the code:
Code:
xmllist2 += xmllist1.((value >= required) && (xmllist2.contains(@ID) == false)).@ID;
Does anyone have experience with this warning, or hints on how to get rid of it?
Appreciate it!

A Warning About Two Flash Bugs
Bugs or eccentricities -- you be the judge.
___________________________________
The first one is simple to describe. If you enter Actionscript manually (expert mode), then be careful about extra spaces if you end up deleting all the script. What I mean is, I used to have something like
some_variable = "whatever";
gotoAndPlay ("SOMEFRAME");
Now in this example, say I delete both lines of script, but leave the line returns untouched. Easy to do, since it certainly looks as if I've cleaned out all the script. But when I click on another frame, I see there's still a little 'a' inside the frame I just left -- in other words, Flash sees the line return and assumes there's actionscript lurking within.
Normally, this shouldn't be a problem. But it was for me. Movie A loaded movie B into a clip; movie B happened to have some of this phantom actionscript on its first frame; when testing the movie (either within Flash or through a browser), a library symbol that did not exist on the stage of either movie would inexplicably appear when movie B was loaded.
Weird, eh? I tried enough combinations of things to conclude that the phantom actionscript was at fault. I deleted it and everything worked. Absolutely bizarre. So be aware these things can happen.
___________________________________
The second problem is something too complicated to describe, so instead I'll just give you the advice. Essentially, Flash appears to have some type of 'complexity limit' per layer. I had multiple instances of the same complex movie clip together on the same layer, and very, very bizarre things started happening. After 90 minutes of weeping and gnashing of teeth, I solved the problem by putting each instance on its own layer.
I know what you're thinking -- I must have missed some other little thing. But I didn't. I checked everything and I mean everything. Three times. There was no reason Flash shouldn't have worked with everything on the same layer, and equally no reason that using multiple layers should've made any difference. But that's the way it was.
So -- in summation -- in my opinion, if you watch out for phantom actionscript leftovers, and don't put multiple instances of complex movie clips on the same layer, you just might save yourself some future tears.
A small favour:
Please post a reply -- anything (even just a smiley) -- so that this thread won't get buried thirty minutes after it's born. Maybe it can even garner a "hot" icon, ensuring that plenty of Flashers will see it. Thanks.
And certainly, post your own "Stories from the Beyond" so we can all read the warnings.
Fscommand To Run *.exe Without Security Warning Pop Up
HELP! I am working on a CD project (using Flash MX) that requires that when a button is pushed that a *.exe file runs. I have used the getURL command, but by doing this a security warning pops up by default requiring the user to select open or save file. The company that I am completing this project for finds this pop up unacceptable. I have found some flash 5 code works:
On(release){
fscommand("exec","fscommand\fshistory.exe")
When the button is pushed on this link will directly open up the file without the pop up, but when I put this same code into flash MX the button does nothing.
WARNING: Accessibility Settings
I am publishing a game file as version 5. Tonight, while creating a new movieclip to my game, I accidentally hit the "Accessibility" icon on the Properties Inspector (intending to hit the ActionScript icon). Ever since that unhappy accident I have been getting the following warning in the output window:
WARNING: This movie uses features that are not supported in the Flash 5 player. Accessibility information is not supported in SWF versions less than 6.
It does not harm my swf, but it slows down my production process and is simply annoying. This is very odd, since I did not intentionally add any Accessibility settings. I then tried to deselect all accessibility checkboxes for every dang movieclip and button in the file. When I exported the swf, I got over 100 lines of warnings in the output window.
I then went to a previous version of the file that was un-infected by the Accessibilty bug. I carefully recreated the new movieclip by copying frames of the movieclip into my un-corrupted version. When I tested/exported, I got the same dang warning, except now I get the warning only on the first test/export, rather than every test/export, which is somewhat less annoying.
Does anyone know how to disable the "Accessibility" warnings?

Warning MSG When Testing Movie
I have been trying for the last 2 days to get a scrolling text box to work with this file: http://www.flashkit.com/movies/Inter...6224/index.php
Whenever I follow the tutorials from this site (this one being the most recent one I tried http://www.flashkit.com/tutorials/In...-629/index.php) on making scrolling text boxes I get this message in Output when I finish and attempt to test the movie: WARNING: This movie uses features that are not supported in the Flash 5 player
Symbol=inhalt4, Layer=txt, Frame=1: Flash MX Text Field Instance Name
WARNING: Actionscript Failure.
Ok someone..anyone heeeeeelllpp.
I have 7 buttons on the stage and they control animated text set as MC's AND they also control an animation that is set inside the button itself (by the way, the buttons are set as mc's). For example if button1 is pressed the "textclip" and "buttonanimation" that is currently active plays it's closing animation and the button that was clicked plays it's opening text and button animation. It's an every action, theres a reaction sorta thing going on.
Ok I have attached a sample. The buttons and their animation work but I can't get the text clips to do the same. To view the script you'll have to edit the "homebuttonclip" etc. Then the script should be in the layer labled "ROLL".
Can anyone help with this??
Need Assistence Regarding A Warning Message
Hello everybody!
I have a problem regarding a site I made in Flash Mx and Php. The index page is made in Flash and has a series of buttons that open other pages made both in Flash and Php. My problem is that when you try to open the web page the browser gives that message "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options ..." and doesn't open the index page that contains the buttons that open the other pages. Ofcourse if you have any computer skills you can continue simply by clicking on the warning message and after that on the "Allow blocked message" button, or you can modify the security setting of your web browser.
The problem is that the web browser comes with this settings by default. You have to go manually and modify the settings, which can be a big problem if you have problems understanding what button to press to turn on the computer.
My question is: Is there any way to bypass the warning message even if the security settings of the browser don't allow active content?
I simply couldn't find a solution to this problem, if anyone can give me any kind of hint or solution I will be indebted to him.
Thank you very much!
Active X Warning And White Box In IE
I created a fully flash webpage using swish. When I try to view my page in ie it first says I have to enable active x, then once I do that I can see the content, but it has a white box around it. If you click in the box, the box disappears and everything from then on is dandy. But the next time u visit that page, u have to do it all over again. Are there any HTML scripts I can add into it to prevent this irritation. It doesn't do it in firefox, just ie. I am using the version of ie that came with vista. Thanks for any advice.

XML Links Coming Up With Warning
Hi, I'm using the XML CSS tutorial found right here on actonscript.org.
When I tried adding an html link in the xml - web browsers won't let it go through and tell me
"Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation."
Tells you, you must reset your settings and restart the application.
At that point I doubt anyone would bother to check out the link.
Are there any ways to get an html link in xml text without getting the warning? Having trouble finding a tutorial that deals with links in xml.
thanks

What is that about?

Warning Message Which I Don't Understand
What does this mean?
PHP Code:
WARNING: Actions on button or MovieClip instances are not supported in ActionScript 3.0. All scripts on object instances will be ignored.
The site seems to work fine but the error message pops up every time I preview it?
The publish settings are AS3 and I've copied codes from another website (which works fine) changed the Instance names and function names but I get this warning.
Here's the code I have:
PHP Code:
stop();
sol.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, solClick);
vind.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vindClick);
vej.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, vejClick);
forhan.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, forhanClick);
function solClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndPlay("solar");
}
function vejClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop("wind");
}
function vindClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop("vejlys");
}
function forhanClick(event:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop("forhandler");
}
Adobe Security Warning...
I setup a Flash player that plays streaming video from a remote location over the web.
Whenever my users try to play it, they get a message like this:
Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation...
Is there a way to set up my stream so that it's considered "safe" by Adobe without the user having to change their settings?
Thanks

Warning In Eventlistener Functions...
Hello everyone I'm brand new to Flash and I am learning animation from a book that comes with several files that I can test out to see how they work. I am trying to create my first project in Flash CS3 but I get some interesting warnings.
Here is my class:
ActionScript Code:
package
{
import flash.display.Sprite;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
public class DrawingApp extends Sprite
{
public function DrawingApp()
{
init();
}
private function init():void
{
graphics.lineStyle(1);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onMouseDown);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, onMouseUp);
}
private function onMouseDown(event:MouseEvent):void
{
graphics.moveTo(mouseX, mouseY);
stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, onMouseMove);
}
private function onMouseUp(event:MouseEvent):void
{
stage.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_MOVE, onMouseMove);
}
private function onMouseMove(event:MouseEvent):void
{
graphics.lineTo(mouseX, mouseY);
}
}
}
I get these warnings:
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onMouseDown event handler is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'mouseDown', callback_handler).
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onMouseUp event handler is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'mouseUp', callback_handler).
Warning: 1090: Migration issue: The onMouseMove event handler is not triggered automatically by Flash Player at run time in ActionScript 3.0. You must first register this handler for the event using addEventListener ( 'mouseMove', callback_handler).
What is causing these issues???

I have a mc set to a button with part of it set as the hit area with this code in as2:
Code:
hit._visible = false;
this.hitArea = hit;
Is there anyway that I can change that to work with as3? I researched it, and it told me to take out the _ before visible. The warning goes away, but my file doesn't work.
Thanks in advance!
Warning Flash Player
Hi,
Does anyone know how to avoid the warning message from the Flash player (7) when the flash wants to load a file from another site?
Cheers, Maurice
Swf Vs Explorer, Security Warning
When I attemp to open my site (entirely made by flash) security warning blinks.. I need to choose "allow ..". It's kinda annoying for all visiters.
How can explorer open profesional flash sites without any warning? Someone knows the way to get rid of this warning?
WARNING: The Export Frame...
WARNING: The Export Frame for Classes specified in the Publish or Export settings, frame 10, does not exist. No bytecode for ActionScript 2.0 classes or interfaces was exported.
What does that mean!??? My movie export correctly and everything works fine but I keep getting this warning when I'm editing the main fla. I have verify and reverify about my export setting on frame 10 and everything is fine.
Kinda annoying...
Warning: BroadcastMessage Is Not A Function
Targeting Player 8/ AS 2 - this project is generating continual warnings (up to the limit):
Warning: broadcastMessage is not a function
"broadcastMessage" is not anywhere in my code (actually someone else's that I've been asked to modify)
It only appears when I run the SWF in a browser, not when I preview within Flash
It seems to relate somehow to the use of Tween (see code below), but why why why?
Attach Code
import mx.transitions.Tween;
import mx.transitions.easing.*;
stop();
//xml loaders
var homeXML:XML = new XML();
homeXML.ignoreWhite = true;
homeXML.onLoad = function(success:Boolean):Void {
if (success) {
//_root.gotoAndStop("init");
trace("loaded");
} else {
trace("xml failed");
}
};
var featureXML:XML = new XML();
featureXML.ignoreWhite = true;
featureXML.onLoad = function(success:Boolean):Void {
if (success) {
homeXML.load("xml/info.xml");
} else {
trace("featureXML failed");
}
};
featureXML.load("xml/features.xml");
var stageTween:Tween = new Tween(stage_mc, "_alpha", Regular.easeIn, 0, 100, 20, false);
trace(stageTween);
Warning When Starting A New AS3 Project?
When I start a new AS3 Flash project, I am presented with the following warning, and none of my applications work:
Warning: 5004: The file 'playerglobal.swc', which is required for typechecking ActionScript 3.0, could not be found. Please make sure the directory '$(AppConfig)/ActionScript 3.0/Classes' is listed in the global classpath of the ActionScript 3.0 Preferences.
Can anyone suggest a solution?
Duplicate Label Warning
Hi
I am making a cartoon and gave some frames, labels. For instance I have a keyframe with a mouth that says "ee", "o", "a" etc, and label on those keyframes so I easily can identify what keyframe contains what.
My problem is that when I compile that movie, it says:
"WARNING: Duplicate label, Symbol = <symbolname>, Layer = <layername>, Frame = <framenumber>, Label = <labelname>
How do I solve that problem? There is a white pop up coming up with those lines every time I compile the whole flash...
