Well, I Did A Redesign
ok, after some suggestions from people on this forum, I redesigned the site. This is a template for it. I know the buttons go nowhere, as well. I have one question as well. I want the text to fade away when the mouse goes off the buttons (you will see if you go) but it am unable to add the mouse out action script. Currently i am using mouse over to go ahead in the timeline to the text. How can i make it fade out? Thanks...

Redesign Without Frames?
Hey folks!
I’m at a loss. Here’s what I have. I have a 3 framed site (Left,Bottom,Main) with a flash menu in the Bottom frame that will update the main frame. The content is updated from the MC using getURL.
I would like to do the same thing but not with frames. Could I use Layers or maybe Cells or…. ?

Resolution Concerns On Redesign
My current site is designed to be viewed by 800X600 or above. I also set up my page so that scrollbars do not appear.
I would like to redesign my site and increase the font and thumbnali sizes. Because, as you know, as people move to larger resolutions, the cool micro-fonts (that is probably so last year anyway) become illegible.
I have had several people (including the greatest coder, in my eyes, no need to mention his name or his initials, cb) confirm this on this forum and others.
So (finally!) what is the conscensus on this forum for a good usable size? And the scrollbar thing? Is that just me about the scrollbar?
The numbers out there indicate a good number of 1024 and bigger users out there but I am using my site a a tool to obtain employment, thus that is my audince. If the audience was you guys only, I'd use 1600X1200!!!

A Homepage In My Flash Homepage
Hy, I dont speak good English, but I hope you undertand what I try to say!
I have made my own Homepage in Flash. But now I want to intergrat a counter. To do this I can simply add the source in the index.html but I want that for example if my Homepage is www.123.org and my counter is on www.freecounter....org that this windows appears IN my Homepage on www.123.org
My counter is a finished free counter on a Homepage (I don't have programmed it self!) I must only add the source (www.freecounter.....org) in my document.
I hope you understand what I want, because I search yet a long time for a response and I hope that I'm more lukky on this page!
I have another example of my problem here, if the first was not clear
I have made my Homepage with Flash MX and now I want that when I go visit my Homepage and that my Hoempge appears in the browser that I can intergraet an other Homepage in my Flash Homepage (naturly smaler). So I have 2 Homepages in one browser; One Homepage in the other!
I hope it is more clearly now

Help I Can't Add A Nav On Homepage...
This seems like a really stupid problem.. but hey, I am new at this. I have been working on an animated menu navigation and I want to put it on the homepage. I imported it in the library and placed the .swf on the homepage. When I test it, it's just static.
I haven't added the links yet, I just wanted to see if the actual animation of the navigation bar would work.. and it didn't.
Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I hope it's an easy problem to figure out. I am just so frustrated and I know I must be forgetting something so simple.

This is a mock up for a design i'm working on at the moment, as you will see the basic site is small, simple and loads quick, but it runs painfully slowly, any ideas why this might be, could it be that i've put too much action script on the buttons????.

Homepage, Pls Help
here is my situation:
I have a made an intro and have completed that. I am now making the homepage for it. In the bottom right hand corner I have the skip button which opens the webpage. In the bottom left I have email button. I know how to do all of this. Here is what I dont know.
When you go to the homepage you see all the buttons above, but in the middle I want another window thing. Say around 680x510. In this window there will be some text and at the bottom of the window will be a play button. The play button will be an On release, load movie button. I know how to do this too. How do I make the window though. Its not a new browser window, but more a flash inside a flash. I am not sure the vocabulary of what to call it.
If this has made no sense then I might be able to explain it clearer on msg.

Hello ladies and gentlemen. I have some things that I need some help with. But before I start you should take a look at the picture of my homepage (not even close to be done) to understand my questions. I've put the link for an image in the bottom of this post. First of all I'd like to know about a certain drawing effect. I'm trying to make the effect that when you press a button on my menu-soon-to-be the top lines, next to the title "Paradox shade", so that they are drawn up. Like if I would draw them by hand. Is there any other way of doing this except masking, or doing frame by frame? And if these happen to be the only ways, then I'd prefer the masking method. Could someone explain how masking this works cause I have trouble understanding it. Thanks!

Does anyone knows how to "set as homepage" from flash mx?
As far as I know, XP2 blocks the "setHomePage" script from running
when you click on a button in flash and I get "Permission denied"
(at the status bar of internet explorer)...
If anyone knows how to bypass this problem, please let me know.

Hey!
I have Flash 5 and I´m trying to create a menu for a website of our band. I have everything done, except to make links to other pages. When I click for example "news", then I want to go on the site where all our news are written. But I don´t know what I have to type as a link. Must I take the url where it should appear or what? Can anyone give me an example of what I have to write that the links of my menu work?

Website Homepage
I have just started a website (see attatchment), but when you click on a button at the top, I want it so every thing remains the same apart from the main area with the text. This is where I want the user to view the contents of the buttoon that they selected. I want it so that whatever is in that section will fade away when another button is pressed and the new section fades in.
But I don't know how to make the current one fade away before the new fades in.
I hope you can understand enough to help me!

Homepage Issue
I have an unusual challenge that I'm having trouble resolving. My site has an intro movie, at the end of the intro the main page fades in using some of the components of the intro as part of the main page. Then users have the option to navigate around the site. So far so good. Now here's where the challenge is. When the user wants to go back to the home page how can I direct them to the end of the intro (last frame) where the home page is located. The reason I don't have a seperate homepage for them to go back to is because it would take an additional load time as opposed to directing back to the already loaded page which is already in the cache.
I've thought of one possible solution but I'm having trouble coding it correctly. I am trying the loadmovie command but I want to direct them to a specific frame so they don't have to go through the whole intro. Is this possible? I'm also open to any fresh suggestions on how to resolve this. Thanks

Hey there,
Im wondering if anyone knows the best way to set the homepage from flash. Ive seen lots of javascript exammples which work fine with a HTML control, however when i call the javascript from within flash i get 'Permission Denied' in the browser.
Although this is a javascript error, its only happening when i call it from flash. If anyone has a solution to my problem it would be much appreciated.

I am trying to create a "Make this your homepage" button and it was created in Flash. After reading up on several references to ExternalInterface, I can't seem to get the code right. I've tried different variations of the code and I suspect it is a matter of getting the ActionScript right. In my button actions, I have put:
on (release) {
ExternalInterface.call("javascript:setHome()");
}
And in my HTML file, I have put:

Basic Homepage Help
Hello all i am new to flash 8 and i am finding it all very confusing.

Swf Buggering Up My Homepage...
i have a banner on my index.htm and it is only 9k. but when some1 goes to that page, it just says 'loading..' and my text that is supposed to fly in, doesn't.
when i take the swf off, everything works fine.
the thing with the swf is that i've used the published html code in frontpage/dreamweaver to make it transparent but i don't see as to why that should be a problem.
it works fine on my harddrive so why not when it's uploaded?
