Error With Date/Time Data Type

Jan 4, 2005

Hello all - One of my 3 users' computers keeps coming up with an error when I try to enter the following command in the "Validation Rule" field of the table design view:

>=#1/1/1998# And <=Date()

Some investigative work showed that it's erroring on this clause: "<=Date()". Any idea why it would error on her pc and not the other 2 pc's? Her pc is old, but we're all using Access 2002. The error says: "The function you entered can't be used in this expression." Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks much.

Modules & VBA :: Append Time Value To A Date Data Type Variable

Jun 27, 2013

I have a variable (dtDueDate as Date) showing as 6/28/2013. I want to append a time value to it (dtMaxTime as Date) which is 5:00 PM so dtDueDate reads 6/28/2013 05:00:00 PM. I have been going in circles trying to figure this out. My goal is to append this date to a table field which has a datetime (General Date).

Forms :: Combo Box Where List Of Choices Are Narrowed In Real Time As You Type

Sep 29, 2014

I would like to create a combo box (or something similiar if a combo box simply can't do it) where the list of choices in the pulldown shows only the matches of what a user types in. The list of choices are coming from a field in a table. Also I would like the "search" of the user's input to include what is "within" each choice, e.g. if a user type "ber", then valid results should be bertha, october, robert.

Forms :: Prevent Entering Data A Second Time Onto Access 2010 Table

Mar 4, 2014

I have a simple data entry form where I can key the "row", "COLUMN", SPACE "a" and space "B" onto an access 2010 table. Is there a way that if I key the same four fields, e.g., A5AB that I get a message back before updating telling me that combination already exists?

I do generate a calculated data field, which in this case would be "a5ab" and which is displayed on report screens. Could the value of this calculated field be stored on the Table and be used to prevent the same value from again be entered on the Table?

The problem happens when a user change the his computer time and click the button, the new time will be recorded.

The question is how to fix the time or get the time from a centeral computer or server?

Note the DB will be placed on a shared PC or on a server in the LAN.

Ignore Time In Date And Time Field

Mar 6, 2007

Hi,

Wonder if someone can help please. I'm quite new to Access so please bear with me.

I have a data field in my database consisting of both a date and time.

I then have a form containing two fields where the user can type a 'To' and 'From' date to extract the records that they are interested in. The query behind this uses the 'Between[Enter The Date] And [Enter The Date]' coding.

The problem is that because the field contains a time it doesn't return any records when I run the query.

Can anyone offer a bit of guidance on how I could ignore the time part of the field perhaps by adapting the above.

Many thanks

Chris

Sort By Time Only In A Date / Time Field

Mar 19, 2014

I have a column/field named [DateTaken] which contains test dates and times in the same cell. I am needing to find those with a test time less than 2:30 pm or <14:30pm.

data looks like this:

8/22/13 4:23 PM
1/29/14 12:21 PM
1/28/14 3:27 PM
8/26/13 4:27 PM

[code]....

this is what I have come up with to extract the time component of data set so that I can then later, sort it by the time in a query.

JustTime: TimeValue([YourField])
JustTime: ("hh:mm",([DateTaken])) and or ("hh:mm",[DateTaken])

I get either invalid operator or invalid syntax errors trying both of these.

Time Format - Short Time Displayed As Medium Time

May 23, 2006

I have an application with a backend db on PC 1, and the same application on PC 2 linked to the backend db on PC 1 via the network.

The link works fine but the time formats are different.

On PC 1 the time format is shortime and displays as it should i.e. in 24 hour clock format

However on PC 2, opening the same database via the network, the time format is still shorttime but when you read the time within the code it comes out in AM/PM format. Also, when the defaul tiem should be #20:00:00# but this changes to #8:00:00 PM#

Weirdly though, when you just open the table, the times are in the correct shorttime format.

Guessing, it must be a setting within the main core of Access 2003 that is different between the 2 instances?

Any ideas?

This screen shot may help:

Date/Time Type

I am having problems with this query:

When I try to run it, an error points to the criteria.
Both CurrentYearTrainingDate and LastYearsTrainingDate are Date/Time format.
I need to be able to check if those fields have a date in them or are blank ("", IsNull and IsEmpty do not seem to work).
Any ideas are deeply appreciated -- thanks ahead of time!

Run-time Error '13': Type Mismatch

Apr 12, 2006

I don't understand why I'm getting this message.

I have a form that is based on a parameter query. The user inputs an item number and the form opens in edit mode. The user clicks the "duplicate" command button and then changes the item number. I've incorporated GHudson's "A Better Mouse Trap" logic and when clicking "save" I get the type mismatch error.

I don't understand why Access is not returning the 3022 duplicate entry error.

When I click "debug" Access highlights the line as shown below:

Err_bSave_Click:
If Err = 2046 Then 'The command or action Undo is not available now
Exit Sub
Else
MsgBox Err.Number, Err.Description
Resume Exit_bSave_Click
End If

End Sub

Any and all assistance is appreciated.

Run-time Error '13' Type Mistype

I created a Duplicate command/macro on a form and, when it is clicked on, a message appeared 'Run-time error '13' Type mismatch'. Debugging the command showed the problem was this code line:

MsgBox Err.Number, Err.Description

in the bDuplicateCurrentRecord section (shown below).

Below is the whole Duplicate coding. The coding was copied from another Duplicate template db as I am no expert on coding. It worked on 97 version but not on 2000 version.

Forms :: Time In / Time Out Attendance

Apr 10, 2014

Any sample database where its about Time In and Time Out Attendance. It will just calculate the difference of Time In Time Out with employees Card Number.

The Time In and Time Out attendance is provided (no data entry), it is generated from other tool. I will just load it from an excel sheet to the access database and it will calculate and generate report. Default should be 9 hours per day, if they wont render 9 hours it will show in Difference column. Form will be like this:

ID Num: | Name: | Time In: | Time Out: | Total |Difference (missing hours)

12345 | Al Smith | 8.00am | 5:00pm | 9 | 0
54321 | Joy Pitt | 8.00am | 4.30pm | 8.30 | -0.30

How To Obtain Date Type Without Time Attached

Feb 3, 2015

I have a field [CurrentDay] of type Date/Time. The values for this field are entered through the selection from the date picker. However the time of the day always come along with the date - even if it is not seen. This creates a huge problem when making a query based on this field because no results will be returned unless the time is included with the date in the criteria.

The other part to the problem is that I cannot find a built in function in the expression builder to generate the current date without appending the time - now() certainly does not do that - even if the time is not seen it is there.

Is There A Way To Export Access Date Field Without The Time?

Dec 21, 2007

Right now to get my Access database into MySQl I have to copy it out of Access into Excel then I export it to a delimited text file.

I would like to eliminate the Excel part and go directly from Access to a text file.

The problem is with the date fields. When exporting from Access it always adds the time (00:00:00) which MySQL chokes on. It seems there should be a way to do this with the export function, so that the date is just the date and no time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Forms :: Date And Time Not Displaying If No Data

Jun 9, 2015

I have a series of forms in my shiny new database and I have added the auto time and auto date fields to the form headers. I have added the code to keep the time ticking over and it all works fine.

Unless the is no data. If for any reason there is nothing in the Details part of the Form, the date and time do not display. As soon as any data shows up, so do the date and time.

The VBA code is running in either case so I am a little baffled. Usually Google is my friend but not in this case.

I am using Access 2013 on a win 7 machine.
