How To Autofill Company Info In Employee Form By Pressing Button
Hi there,
I am stuck for over a week now, and tried just about everything I am capable off ...
I have two forms: COMP (where I fill in fields for Company Table) and PERS (where I fill in fields for Person Table).
On the COMP-Form I have a button, named: 'Add Person/Employee to Current Company'.
The two tables (Company and Person) are linked by PK - FK (PK_CompanyID & FK_EmployedAtID).
I can't get it to work properly.
The PERS-form must be filled with the company info I filled in the form COMP, after I press the button.
But the PERS-form also must be filled out normally (not via COMP, but seperately), choosing the company in the comboboxfield 'Company Name' on the PERS-form. Do you stick with me?
So I want to start the PERS-form with the filled in company Info by pressing the button.
And I want to be able to start the Form seperately (which I can off course) and choose the company myself , by selecting the right company in the combobox.
I have a attachment sent with this.
Can someone look at this for me, and explain what I am doing wrong.
I tried to do it with a autofill macro, and with some code ...
I just don't seem to get it right.

Hello all! Ok, lets get down straight to the point. What i want to achieve is that when i login that automaticly the name has been filled in on every form. I have a login form. I put my name in there like "Michiel" and ofcourse the password. After that its going automaticly to the mainpage. In that mainpage i want to create a field that automaticly filles in my name (so if somebody else log in that their name will be filled in). After that i want when i go the incident form that automaticly the employee form has been filled in. (The person that at the moment is logged in that his name automaticly been filled in) Ive tried various ways to achieve this goal but nothing worked. Im not that very expert in Access but im trying to understand and learning pieces by pieces the Access world. So if somebody could help me because im getting desperate! Prompt For Password And Username Each Time While Pressing Cmd Button
Being dealing with my database and having quite some trouble with it. Is it possible to track down what the users did, during the time they login into, database, is it possible to prompt users for password and username when they buttons for like, delete cmd, or update command. Just a breif idea on what im trying to do.(hopefully it won't confused you all) Im trying to created a 2 main username. One is for admin group and another is for users group. Then users can login in to database, however whenever the users update or delete entries in the database, the user will prompt for their username and password (not the users group login ). Is it possible to build a table to store in the username and password for the prompting purposes one. Sorry for confusing question. Actually im trying to think of another way, but for now this complicated event all i have think of. Feel free to voice your suggestion here. Thanks alot. TQ

Prevent Default Command Button When Pressing Enter
I have a form which contains several controls and a listbox. I have set the Default setting to yes for a command button that returns the results of the search, so when i click the Enter key on any control (with the exception of other command buttons), the result is returned. Question: I want to prevent the Default command button from activating when pressing Enter from the listbox. I thought of using the KeyDown event with this code If KeyCode = vbKeyReturn Then 'do something End If but i can't get it to disregard the default Suggestions? Scott

Accessing Subform Info From Form Button.
I have a form containing a subform. Inside the form, i set up a button. Inside the OnClick code of this button, i need to access the information inside the subform. To access the info inside the form, i know: Me.Fieldname But inside the subform, i have tried: Me.SubformName.FieldName or SubformName.FieldName And both did not work. How can i?

Add Employee Form
I have an Employees table. I have a form to Add Employee and a form to Remove Employee. Remove Employee works great. It's a drop down box, they select the employee and click on remove. With Add Employee, I have a textbox where they enter the name and a button to add that employee to the database. I setup a VBA script to take the value in the textbox labled "empname" and insert it into the Employees table when the button is clicked through the onClick event. Is there an easy way to do this? I need the UI to be simple. I know you can bound the textbox to the employee name, but then when they open up the form it will show all the records and they have to click the new record button to add someone. I know this question was asked very recently, but it wasn't answered very well. I have the db attached. It's in Access 2003 format. The macro in there is the VBA script that I wrote, so don't worry, it's not harmful. I'm very good with SQL, and I would've chosen to use ASP for the user interface, but the people that need this don't want to run any servers (IIS). They just need a file they can double click on and work from there. Thanks

Pressing TAB...
When I have a form opened and I press tab button like the user would most likely do to go to next window to enter information. The think is when I open my form enter information and press the tab button the information I entered before are gone. It works fine if I just use my mouse to remove between windows. .. Thanx

Well I created a Form and what I want to do is this: If I enter an ID number, I want the Form to populate the rest of the fields automatically (eg. phone number, address etc.). Autofill Fields In Form
Hi, I have a form that has a field called scope of work which is a combo box that you have 3 options to select from. I have set up a table called scope of work which has other fields ie: Scope of work, Est Man Hours, Normal Rate, Overtime Rate and Est Due Date. The combo box works fine selecting the scope of work but I want the fields on the form to automatically fill in the other information. Say they select option 1 in the scope of work based on this option it will fill in 40hrs at $150 per hour normal rate and $180 per hour overtime rate and this will take 4 weeks to complete. Based on the start date field it will also calculate 4 weeks from now for the completion date. I have tried everything from queries using SQL statements, joining tables one to many etc.. and for some reason I cannot seem to get it to work for me and I've spent hours searching around for a solution.. If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated!! Thanks a Bunch

Using Customer ID To Autofill New Form
I have a table with customers details(Address Etc) but there is too many for me to use a combo or list box so i would like to use a text box. Here lies my problem. What i need is to be able to enter into a text box on form1 the first few letters of the customer ID no and this will open a hidden subform that will list the customers with those first few letters. I then want to be able to select one from the list using the number keys and once i press enter it opens another form(form2) with all the customer information already inserted into the text boxes on form2.

Form/Subform With Autofill In Both
I am creating an ostensibly simple database, but I need help trying to get it to work. There are three tables. 1.Users – UserID, Dept Code, LName, FName 2.Boxes – BoxNumber, Description, Contents, and many other fields 3.CheckOut (junction table) – UserID, BoxNumber, Description, DateIn, DateOut I want to create a form that would have the User fields at the top and a subform with the checkout fields. I need the user fields to autopopulate after filling in the UserID (primary key). I need the box Description to autopopulate after filling in the BoxNumber (primary key). At the moment, the form thinks that I am trying to ADD new records. There are no new records (boxes) being added. I simply want to use the form to check out and check out boxes. Form--autofill Help Needed!!
I have a table that containes: Member#, FirstName, LastName, CompanyName, etc. Multiple entries can be in the table for each Member#. On my form when a Member# is entered, if that # is already in the table, I would like for the form to autofill the FirstName, LastName, and CompanyName fields from the table. This is added protection to be sure the Member# typed is correct. If the # is not already in the table, then nothing will autofill. I am not new to Access...but my knowledge is not above "3rd grade". Pressing Enter- New Line...
Hello, ...I don't know if this is easily possible or not, but here's my question/scenario: I am trying to create a form that allows me to (using a memo field) enter in the dialogue from a staff meeting. [This field will also be used for preparation for that very staff meeting]. I would prefer a method in which I can do a bulleted list, but if I can get a new line that would be sufficient for the day. In access, if you press enter - It tries to create a new record (I believe even if you aren't on the last field in the form, but that doesn't matter) I want to be able to press enter or shift-enter to be able to just make it go to a new line. Not a new record. Yes, I could do this in word and if this was the only thing I needed, word or it's equivalent would be the best method. But there is much more to this database concerning my needs so I want to stick with one application. So there's my question - If there is some other method of getting a new line please tell me, I'd love to hear. ;) Thanks, ---roystreet I just found out that you can use ctrl-enter for a carriage return. I would still like to know if there would be a way (maybe via coding) to make the enter key do it?

Autofill Table From Hi/Lo Form Values
Help. I know just enough about Access to get myself into trouble. What I want to do is have a form where I enter a low work order # and a high work order # with a series of yes/no questions and then have that autofill a table with work order #s incrementally from the low value to the high value and attach all of the yes/no answers to each work order #. Autofill Other Fields In A Form Or Report.
Please help. This might be a simple way to do this, but I'm not really good at coding so here it goes... I want to make a form or report when a person enter a vendor (example) the other fields will atomatically fill-in depending on the data that cooresponds to that vendor. Autofill From Many Combo Boxes In One Form
Hi all! :D I'm trying to make a form to autofill with customer data (from a database), with 4 columns (= 4 customers). Each column contains on top a combo box and below 5 text boxes with address, phone etc. So i created a form and placed a combo-box (from wizard) with the option "Find a record on my form based on the value i selected in my combo box". The problem is that this one combo box controls all the text boxes. Even if i create an other one, it still controls all of them. So i'd like to ask: How can i link a combo box, to autofill specific textboxes?:confused: Thanks... :)

I have setup the database as follows. tblmachine tblfaultcode tbljobnumber i have also linked to our SQL database to get the job numbers and descriptions. Autofill A Form Window From A Table?
Hi all,Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've used the Search function and can't find exactly what I'm trying to achieve.The Current SetupI have a database that I'm now trying to expand upon by adding extra features. One of these features I'd like to add is the ability to, firstly, know how many records in the entire datasheet have not been officially closed (i.e. have their 'rmaclosed' column empty), and, secondly, to have a list autogenerated that shows all of these records and allows the user to double click an item from the list and have that record open.Now, to make life easier, I should point out that I already have a successfully working search function in my database. Clicking a button from the switchboard opens up a form that allows the user to enter full or partial text into a box, then, at the click of another button, the main window of the form will automatically fill out with a list of all those records which match the entered text. The user can then double click anything from this generated list and the appropriate record will be opened.Working on the assumption that the code for what I want to achieve would be near-identical to this search function code, I have replicated both the form and code, and am now trying to adapt it; it is this adaption I'm having trouble with.The Current SituationTake a look at the attached image. That is how my form looks to the user when opened.Now what I really, really want to achieve is for that central window to be automatically filled out with the listed column headings of any record stored in the table maindata that has a Null value in the column rmaclosed when the form is opened. However, I don't see any option for 'OnLoad', so I'm willing to compromise and just have the user click a button.You'll see the button there for 'List RMAs'. Pressing Enter After Entry Into Textbox
I have a textbox and a command button by this textbox that performs an action based on the value in this textbox when clicked. I want to be able to press the enter key after entry into the textbox and have it perform the same thing the command button does. I tried Calling the commndbutton procedure from the OnEnter event from of textbox, but it tries to process as soon as i "start entering data into the textbox". I hope i am clear? How do i achieve this, so that by pressing the enter key after entering a value in my textbox, my textbox value is processed, instead of clicking the command button. This is just to enhance usability. Any help will be mucho appreciatied :D

DB For Rental Company
My company rents equipment to our customers. I am looking for a db to track our stuff. There are three possible locations of everything. Warehouse, employee trucks, and Customers. I assume that warehouse can be added to the employee table. I can set up these 2 tables and one for our equipment list, but the hardest thing I am having with is with the table for transactions(I believe it should be a table), this needs to allow batch transations, because typically more than one piece of equipment is moved at a time. I will need a report that will show each equipment id number in a customers home from date to date (date it was placed and date it was removed), one that will show a list of all equipment locations on a given date, and one more that will show equipment that has been in a customers house for 5 days or more so I can verify that it is still there, becuase equipment typically should never be with a customer for more than 5 days. Right now I am using excel, but its not working well. I would greatly appreciate some help! The attachment only has the info I need for the 3 tables I mentioned above that I know how to do, and my best guess at what the transaction table should look like. See atached.

How To Pass A Company ID Thorughout All Forms
Hi, I have a database that controls donations for a Charity. There is to be a sister charity added to the database and a lot of the previously created objects can be used to provide for the new Charity. My idea was to create a "company" ID and label the categories of the donations. I could then use this company ID to identify to whom the data captured belongs. I have used the switchboard manager to enable navigation, in this I have a ONload event procedure that requests the Company ID (1 or 2). That's as far as I have got. How would I get Switchboard to open each form (some being based on queries - a couple direct on the tables) and filter the data on the company ID? If there is a better way, please enlighten me!! :) Many thanks in advance daz.

Hi all, This is a fairly simple one, but im not sure exactly how to go about it... Lets say a Company can have many Divisions. Each Division has 1 Division Manager (CGM), and manages many Cost Centres. Each Cost Center has 1 Cost Centre Manager (CCM) and employs many Employees. Im thinking of 3 tables: Divisions, Cost Centres, and Employees. And if you hadnt already guessed, CGM's and CCM's are part of the Employees Table. Hello All, I've searched and searched and can't find anything but it might be because I'm not sure what to search for. Here is what I'm trying to do. Company Db With Multiple Product Categories
Hi! I need to create a database of the info of a few hundred companies. Each company (food producers) specializes in various product categories, not just one. This is my problem/question: each company entry should then have a possibility to have as many product categories as needed. How can I do this without using "free text" fields? The website user should obviously also be able to search the db - by clicking checkboxes with the categories maybe? (+Also: When the admin user needs to add the info of a new company (with, say, 9 product types) into the database, what kind of an SQL clause I need to INSERT INTO the db? For example if the product categories where laid out as checkboxes, and the user would just click the ones he wants.)
