HELP!!! Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid SQL Statement Expect
My main experience is with MySQL and PHP so I'm kindof stumbling around in the dark here. Heres my story:

We recieved a new server and migrating from (Windows Server 2000, IIS 5.0, Access 2000) to (Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0, Access 2003) has been nothing but problems.

I have setup IIS to work with ASP, I've also setup a system DSN. The access file was copied over from the previous server. We're running Access 2003 and now I can't seem to get this ASP script to work.

When I try to upload a file to the script I get this error:

Line: 42
Char: 7
Error: HELP!!! Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Invalid SQL statement expected 'DELETE','INSERT','PROCEDURE','SELECT', OR 'UPDATE'.
Code: 0
Url: (URL address blocked: See forum rules)

Here is the part of Connect.asp that errors:

Code:<script LANGUAGE="javascript"><!--var DSNString, TheDF, TheRS;//DSNString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C: hedata estdisbo.mdb;User Id=admin;Password=;";//DSNString = "Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};Dbq=C: hedata estdisbo.mdb;Uid=Admin;Pw d=;"DSNString = "DSN=testweb; UID=; PWD=";function public_ConToDB(){ TheDF = DP.CreateObject("RDSServer.DataFactory",this.text1.value);DC.DataSpace=DP;DC.Server = this.text1.value;DC.Connect = DSNString;//DC.Connect="d: hedatadisboweb.udl";}function public_GetRS(SQLCommand){ TheRS = TheDF.Query(DSNString,SQLCommand);DC.SourceRecordset=TheRS;return (TheRS);}function public_GetDC(){ return (DC);}//--></script>

Its included in a file called FileRead.htm here is the part that refers to the error lines:
Code: var TheFile, FileStrm;// Retrieved field namesvar M_ssn, M_inits, M_Lname, M_Fname, M_DSSN, M_ruc, M_paycode;var M_normamt, M_payamt, M_pgrp, M_poe, M_pltcd, Payrollnum, Payrolldate;// var Trash, FieldData, FieldNames;var TrashLineNum = 1;// Create the file Stream Object (ReadOnly)TheFile = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");FileStrm = TheFile.OpenTextFile(FName,1,false);// Setup the Database Connectionvar SQLCommand, TheRS, TheConnection, DSNString, Commands, MyDC;FieldNames = new Array("ssn","inits","lname","fname","dssn","ruc","cco", "payamt","normamt","notsureone","pgrp","poe", "pltcode","recstatus","paychgflg","paystatuscode", "payrollnum","payrolldate");// Connect the the DatabaseDataLib.ConToDB();MyDC = DataLib.GetDC();// Get Payroll NumberPString = prompt("Enter Payroll Number","025");Payrollnum = parseInt(PString,10);// Get Payroll DateDString = prompt("Enter Payroll Date","20000101");Payrolldate = DateLib.FromMil(DString);// Setup the Database Connectionvar NumRecs = 0;//MyTest = DataLib.GetRS("PaydayUpdate1");alert("About to cross into the CurExtract!!!");MyRS = DataLib.GetRS("SELECT * FROM CurExtract");

I set an alert after this line but it doesn't pop up.

ANY HELP WOULD BE VERY GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'll be checking this very frequently.

Sincerly,
Joseph Russell

Converting From Microsoft Access 2.0 To Microsoft Access 2003
Hello everyone,

I would like to convert a database, which was made for me, in order to enable it to be used on my current system.

I get the error message below when trying to open the database in Microsoft Access 2003.

The database was made using Microsoft Access 2.0.

Will I need Microsoft Access 2.0 to update/delete the database all the time?

Or can I convert this to be used with Microsoft Access 2003?

I have tried opening the file exclusively and I get the same error.

I have selected Show Help and it advises me to import all the objects from the database into a new database. This can`t be achieved as I can`t open the file to retrieve the contents.

Thank you very much for your help and all responses are appreciated,

Editing Hyperlink Field
Is there any way to edit the hyperlink field in my table, I'm thinking along the lines of an update query?

The database has thousands of records and the user has not typed any text into the 'Display Text' part of the hyperlink. This means that the stored hyperlink is double size because if no text is entered into the display text part then access uses the hyperlink string. This is a problem for me later on in the design.

I have tried a simple update query and this updates the display text as required but also loses the hyperlink itself, which I want to remain unchanged.

Any ideas?

Hyperlinked Field That Doesn't Want To Hyperlink
A field in the table is hyperlinked. I put urls in, but obviously I have to do something else to tag on "http://".

Alternatively, be pleased to know the code to concatenate "http://" onto the urls.

Hyperlink Field In Union Query
Hi,
I have a query that I build using VBA based on some user input. One of the fields I pull out is a hyperlink to particular files on our local network, so the user can click the link and open the relevant file. My problem is that if the SELECT statement contains one (or more) UNIONs the hyperlinks no longer work. The query returns all the fields but the hyperlink field is just text of the form "display_text#link_address#".
I am using MS Access 2000. The UNION statements are required so I can search for multiple keywords in various fields within the table.

An example of the SQL query I generate is:
SELECT DocRef, DocTitle, DocAbstract, DocLink, DocAuthor, DocDate FROM TechDocs
WHERE DocType IN ('TechRep', 'Misc')
AND DocAbstract LIKE ('*drug*')
UNION
SELECT DocRef, DocTitle, DocAbstract, DocLink, DocAuthor, DocDate FROM TechDocs
WHERE DocType IN ('TechRep', 'Misc')
AND DocAbstract LIKE ('*release*');

If I do the query a different way (when I am searching for phrases, not keywords) the hyperlinks work fine. As you can imagine this is very frustrating! I have read that Access 2000 has some problems with UNIONs where it has to order the individual SELECT results before the union or something, but I can't work it out.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hyperlink Field In A Crosstab Query
I can't put a hyperlink field into a crosstab query.
The Crosstab row is set to Row Heading.
If I set the Total row to Group By, then I get nonsense.
If I set the Total row to First then I get a text version of the address, with the character # at the beginning and end.
Any ideas?

Validation Rule In Hyperlink Field
I encounter a strange phenomena.

Usually when I define validation rule, in any field (e.g. text field), when a wrong value entered, immediately the validation text popups.

In hyperlink field validation text appears only in the end of the process of adding a new record.

My case: I defined a field in a table, which suppose to contain valid email address.
valid email should contain the "@" character and should not contain spaces or non-latin characters.

I defined the following validation rule "Like ("*@*") And Not Like ("* *") " it works good... except the validation rule appears only at the end of the record, and NOT immediately upon leaving that field.

Any idea why that happens?

Thanks.
Amir.

Hyperlink Linked To A Field In A Table..
Hey guys!
I have a basic knowledge of MS Access and for some of you it might seem like a stupid question, but here's my issue:

I'm trying to create an hyperlink in a form (or a data access page) to a web page, but part of that hyperlink url will be contained in a field in a table.
For example, the link would look like that: www.[site].com where [site] is a field inside let's say Table1. So depending on the value of [site] the link will return: (URL address blocked: See forum rules) or (URL address blocked: See forum rules), etc..
I assume it might require some coding to achive the desired result which I don't know anything about
I tried to set the control source of my link to: = "www." & [Table1]![site] & ".com" but of course it doesn't work.

Thanks a lot in advance for all the help you can give me.

Form Macro Button Hyperlink With Field Name
Hi

Hope this is an easy one. I have a form on which I would like to have a button to press which generates a link of the form http:://www.website.com/[contents of a field].htm

I have found followhyperlink, so my code for pressing the button is:

strLink="www.website.com"
followhyperlink strLink

So, I need to know two things:

1. How do I reference the contents of a field that I can see on the open form (lets call it EPIC)

2. How do I build the string strLink to include it.

I've searched and looked but I think the question is so basic it is assumed knowledge.

Thanks

wakey
