Text Box Default Date.

Hi Dudes

I have a text box on a form which is formatted as medium date and I want it to default to the Monday of the following week. So for today it should have 07-Mar-05 in the text box.

Can anyone please advise a method for this.

Date And Text As Default

I tried searching everywhere and cant seem to find an answer to this one...

Is it possible to have a default value in a table which would be current month and year + text? Eg. mm/yy "text"

=now() & "text"
is fine but I need to format the date to mm/yy and cant seem to get it right.

eg. 08/06 Lease Payments

Also is there a way to do it for previous month, so if processing today it would give 07/06 Lease Payments?

Thanks in advance!

Default Value - Text Or Date? - Yy Or Mm Format

I am hoping someone can help me, a real novice at Access 2000 - I am trying to construct a couple fields in a table, 1 of which will show a default value equal to a 2-digit year (yy) based on the current date. The second will display a default value equal to a two digit month (mm) based on the current date. Text fields would be ideal, but date field could work if it's the only way. Thank you for helping out a newbie.

Calculate Days When No End Date Entered, Default To Todays Date - Version: 2002 (10.0) XP

I have a report the shows where someone is by date. I am attempting to calculate how many days a person is at a particular facility.

Calculations work just fine if I have a BEGDATE and ENDDATE. Problem is that I would also like to know how many days someone is at a facility even if they are still there and have no ENDDATE.

How would I calculate this in my report?

I have tried the following but still have no value for field TXTADDDATES when there is no ENDDATE entered. I would like it to subtract BEGDATE from todays date to come up with total days at the facility.

Code:
Public Sub CalculateDates()

If [ENDDATE] = Null Then
[txtAddDates] = Now - [BEGDATE] + 1
Else
[txtAddDates] = [ENDDATE] - [BEGDATE] + 1
End If
End Sub

Text Box Default Value Based On Another Text Box? - Version: 2003 (11.0)

Hi,

I don't know if this is possible.

Two text boxes on a row:

Number 1 derived from a Combo box index lookup:

=Format([stylenumber].[column](5),"Currency")

Number 2 from a Query (an empty field)

I would like field 2 to contain the value of field 1 as a default (which will itself populates from the combo box when that is populated).

Is this possible?

TIA.

Default Value In Text Or Combo Box

I am trying to set the result of a query as the default value for a text or combo box. I have tried setting the query as the default value in the box's property. I have also tried doing it in VB. The code looks like this

Dim SQL AS String

SQL = "SELECT Address
FROM Table1
WHERE Name = Forms!Main_frm!name_lbx.Value;"

Forms!Address_frm!address_cbx.DefaultValue = SQL

I have also tried

Dim SQL AS String

SQL = DoCmd.OpenQuery([update address_qry])

Forms!Address_frm!address_cbx.Value = SQL

Where update address_qry is the same as the above.

I keep both forms. I know how to do it by setting the queries as values in a list box, then transfering the values to the text or combo boxes. But I was hoping there was an easier way.

Thanks
Alex

Default Text In Combo Box

Hi,
I am wondering if this is possible... I have a form that contains various combo boxes. I was wondering if it was possible upon opening the form if there was text in the combo box instead of just an empty space, before even clicking on the combo box. It will be the same text each time, just for display purposes. Any contribution would help, thanks.
Also, if possible I need help with my other thread

Date To Default To January 1

I have a little application that includes information about insurance deductables.

Deductables revert to their maximum on a date set by the insurance company, but that is USUALLY January 1.

So, for the control on the form where a new patient is set up, I have a date field where that "revert" date is to be entered.

Since it's usually January 1, I want a default to appear of January 1, of whatever the current year is. I've been looking through the Access help screens as well as this and other forums and have not found anything to suggest how to go about this.

Not being trained as a programmer, I'm coming here asking for some help.

Can anyone give me the appropriate code to generate the default date I want?

Variable Default Data In Text Box

I am working on a database for my boss that stores the results of monthly file audits and generates reports.
Each month about fifty files are checked against a check list and the results are to be entered into the database. Reports are generated quarterly.
I have a date field that holds the date of the review. I would like the default value of this field to be what ever was entered in the previous record. That way this field can be tabbed through until the next month. When the data in the field is changed that will become the new default for the following records.
I don't have any formal VB or VBA training. I just learn what I need for each project and save it for later use.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Modify Default Values And Text Strings

Hello, I have two newbie questions. First, when I design a checkbox in Form design view, how do I program or script the form so it will enter a "1" value on the corresponding tables database per column. (Just like in the option group design, where a click on each option generates a specific value on the tables database).

Second, how can I design the form where it can accept text strings as input and displays them 'as is' in the corresponding tables database as a text string.

Thanks for looking. :)

Default Values For Columns (Date Related)

Hi,

I want to make the default value of my column "TimeonOW" to be the difference in months(past 12) from the entered date in "OWStartDate" and the current system date.

For for example
mm/dd/yyyy

CurrentDate - OWStartDate = TimeonOW
07/01/2007 - 05/01/2005 = 26

I played around with the DateDiff function but to no avail.
=DateDiff("d",Now(),[OWStartDate])
=DateDiff("d",Now(),#2004-31-12#) etc

The reason behind this is because I need to count how many people fall into different month span categories, maybe theres a better way?

Thanks in advance.

Default Text At The Beginning Of A Feild - Version: 2003 (11.0)

Hi everyone, i'm hoping someone can direct me. I'm making up a data base to keep stock records based on ring numbers. What I would like to do is to insert pre-fix text at the beginning of the ring number field so that I need only to type in the last part of it.

example would be pre-fixed, norma1/ this would allow me to key in directly after and would save me a lot of work. I would need to be able to key alternative text over it if necessary.

Can anyone help and would this be possible. I'm totally new to access so any help would be great.

Thanking you all

Blank Date Field Default On Query Criteria

Hello.

I have a query that is pulling data based on a date in a table. For some records, that date field is empty. For those records, the data should be pulled based on the date of 1/1/06. I tried doing this
=IIf([Signed SLA Received] Is Null,1/1/06,>=[Signed SLA Received])

It doesn't like this at all, it brings back no data. I also tried putting 1/1/06 in quotes, but it didn't make any difference.

This is probably a totally incorrect way to get this done, but I don't know how else to try it.

Thanks!

Default Value For Date/Time In MS ACCESS, Retrieve In Java

What is the proper way to store in a field if I want to store current date AND time as a timestamp. I chose Date/Time as the data type and General Date in the Format. Now I wanted a timestamp whenever a new row is added so I placed =Date() in the default value but it only shows me the date, not the time?

Second question if you know Java: I retrieve this date in a java.sql.date and .toString() shows me the correct result in the default format but when i use the DateFormat.format() method on it, i get a Null Pointer Exception. What could be the problem?

Date() Function As Field Default - Version: 2002 (10.0) XP

Hello, I must (reluctantly) convert a 97 db to 2002. We use a back end db with tables. Some tables with Date fields have Date() as the default value. The back end db converted and, after some code cleanup, one of the front ends converted also. However, code that references a table with Date() as the default fails with error 3388 "unknown function 'Date'...in default value...". Also, newly created tables cannot use Date() as a default. But, code such as Msgbox Date() will return the date. Unlike Access 97, a search for Date in the 2002 help file does not return any hits for functions such as Date(), Now(), etc. ???? Is Date() not an official "built-in" function anymore? Is there a workaround? Thanks

The problem is my users will be using this database exclusively in 2006 (for all of november and decemeber.) Any ideas how I can get this to work? Thanks!
