Link All Tables By Special Number Will Info Auto-populate?

Aug 20, 2013

I have a few questions about tables and forms joining, and auto-population of data.

If I join all 8 of my tables one to one to one to one to one, is that possible? That is my first question.

Secondly: If I have my RSN number that I'm using to track each record, is it possible that if I type in the number on a different form, and two of the fields are similar on every form that they will auto populate since the tables are joined?
And if they're filled out in one form, they should know that these were the fields we said were attached to this number it'll just appear? Is that a real thing?

Appending Records With A Desired Auto Number In A Table With Auto Number

Oct 26, 2005

Here is my issue. In a table with an Auto Number index some records have been deleted. I have been able to recreate them along with their original auto number. The problem is that I do not know how to append these records forcing the original auto number. I have tried changing the auto number field to a number field in the table, this works except I cannot change it back to auto number.

I am sure I’m not the first with this question or issue. I did search through a couple hundred entries about auto number before I posted this question.

Forms :: Auto Generate File Number Based On Number Of Records In Year

Jan 21, 2014

I have a form [IUDATA]

I have a add record button.

I have a date field [DATEIN]

I have a text field [DRPNO]

If the [DPRNO] field is empty, I would like the user to have the [DPRNO] field be automatically populated after the user enters a date.

I'd like the format of [DPRNO] to be "dpr YY-XXX"

Where:
YY is the year of the [DATEIN] field and
XXX is number of records in that year.

So for example, if it was the 4th record with a 2013 date the [DPRNO] would be dpr 13-004.

Auto Increasing A Number, Depending On Maximum Number When Condition Is Met

Sep 18, 2006

Hi,

I'm trying to get the maximum number in a table field to increase it by one depending on the member that is selected in a drop down in a field.

I have three tables: members, programs and times. Each member can have N programs and each program can be broadcast N times.

Each member has a three digit code, like XXX. Each program has the three digit code of the member + three numbers that are supposed to auto increment. That is, the first program of member X with the member code XXX is called XXX001.

What I'm trying to do is that when a new program is filled in and I select the member, then the program code should update automatically, adding one to the latest program by that member.

That is, if the last program by member X that was inserted in the database is XXX010, then if a new program is inserted it should automatically be XXX011, even though programs by other members have been added in between.

This is the code I use now, for the AfterUpdate when selecting the member in a dropdown in the form. But although I've played around a bit, I just get error messages...

Private Sub medlemsruta_AfterUpdate()
Dim medlemskod
medlemskod = Me![medlemsruta].Column(2)

Dim strMax As String

strMax = DMax("programs_kod", "table_programs", "Left$(programs_kod, 3) = medlemskod")
Me!program_kod = Left$(strMax, 3) & Format$(Val(Right$(strMax, 3)) + 1, "000")
End Sub

Medlemsruta is a dropdown where one selects the member from the members table, where the three digit code is in the third column (Column(2)).

I'm trying to use DMax to get the maximum number for the particular member and after that adding 1 to that for the new program code.

Grateful for any advice! Thanks!

Hi all,I tried looking for an answer to this but I haven't found anything yet. I have a form that features a 'Bill To' and 'Ship To' section with 'City, State, Zip etc..' for each one. I'm triyng to create a button that my users can press to automatically copy the data from 'Bill To' into the corresponding fields in 'Ship To' to save time if the data is the same. I tried creating an update query but it seems to confuse the form code and throws errors.Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Query That Result Incremental Number, With No Auto-Number

Sep 10, 2006

Well, here's my database :

Name : String
Address : String

I want to add an automatically generated column, "no.", to show which number it's in. Like this :

No. Name Address
1. A Unknown
2. B Unknown2

The problem is, I can do that with Auto-Number, but if the user delete row 1, the number in row 2 is still 2, not 1.

Is it possible to generate query that have "no." column in it ?

I'd like to have it start at a number other than "1" just because it looks better on an invoice. I don't know how to do this. I looked at the table design to see if there were options available to me there but couldn't find anything. Is it possible? (I do not know how to use code.)

Auto Populate- Help For A Newbie

Dec 10, 2007

Hi, everyone! I hope that someone is willing to help me with a database that I'm trying to set up. I'm a teacher and want to use Access to track behavior notes and parent contacts. I'm trying to make the database work efficiently for me and need some help with auto-populating fields.

Here's an example of what I want:
Field 1= date (I have this setup to fill in automatically)
Field 2= student name
Field 3= behavior code
Field 4= comment

I want to type in a code for a behavior in Field 3, such as "t", and have "talking excessively" automatically pop up into Field 4. This would just make it faster for me to enter all my info, and then I can make a report that only shows the date, name, and comment without the codes showing up. I currently have the behavior codes listed in another table, but I don't know if that's where they belong or what. I've found some web sites that have codes for auto-populating, but I have no idea where to put them or what to change in order to personalize them for my database. Is there anyone willing to walk me through this? TIA!

These are the codes that I have:
codememo
bdid not have book in class
cdclass disruption
dadetention assigned
dcdress code violation
dsdetention served
hdhad head down throughout lesson
nwdid not complete classwork
ooffice referral
rreferral for 4 tardies
ssleeping
sdskipped detention
ttalking excessively
wdid not have workbook in class

Auto Populate Next Form

Hey all,

Maybe im just having a brain fart, but I cant get this method to work.

There are two forms, the first records Two Names, The Bride and The groom along with their wedding date and where they registered. After all the data is entered on the first form, the first form is closed, and the second one is open.

What I would like to do is pass the info from the first form on to the second one. The second one uses the bride's info and the wedding date.

I tried using the query to fill it in but I havent had any luck. Been a long day.. maybe just not thinking clearly.

Any help would be appreicated, and thank you in advance to any replies!

Thanks!

Auto Populate A Combo Box

Jan 21, 2006

I accidentally posted this in "general"...so I am posting it here under "forms", since it is "form" related. My intention was not to double-post...sorry.
Summerwind had posted an example to auto populate a combo box. The code below follows his example, but is not working for me:

The fields I have on my form are:

cboCompany
cboLocation

cboCompany is based on tblCompany( with fields CompanyName, Location)

When I update the cboCompany field, I want the cboLocation combo box to populate with all locations for the company that was entered into the cboCompany combo box on the form. E.g. The company "Visions" may be exist in the tblCompany with 3 different locations: Visions (Las Vegas), Visions (Ohio), Visions(California). When I pick the company "Visions" from the cboCompany combo box, I want the cboLocation combobox to be populated with "Las Vegas", "Ohio", and "California".

The code is as follows but returns empty records in cboLocation:

Code:
Dim StrSource As String

StrSource = "SELECT Location FROM tblCompany WHERE tblCompany.CompanyName Like " & Me.cboCompany.Column(1)
With Me.cboLocation
.RowSource = StrSource
.SetFocus
.Dropdown
End With

Can anyone help with this...thank you.

Auto-populate From Another Table

Aug 16, 2011

Okay--I have a table of scholarships, and each one has fields for primary contact, secondary contact, tertiary contact, etc., in which the names of the contacts associated with each scholarship are stored. What I need to do is to have every name pulled from this table and listed--each as its own row--in another table. I'd like it to do this automatically so that if a new name is added to the scholarship table, it will create a new row in the other table.

Auto Sequence Number For Reference Number

Dec 8, 2005

The title probably doesn't give an idea of what I need, so here goes.

We currently have reference #'s for our bills that include the date requested in mmddyy format, the first 3 letters of the customer, the initials of the order taker and finally a sequential number to show the sumber of bills that day.

example: 120705SEAGMM02 2nd order taken by GMM for Seagate on 12/7
120705SEARLH01 1st order taken by RLH for Seagate on 12/7

I want to generate this number automatically based on the date entered and the initials given of the user. We only deal with one customer at our desk so that will always be "SEA".

I have a query that generates the first portion (date, customer, and initials):

SELECT Format([REQDATE],"mm") AS [Month], Format([REQDATE],"dd") AS [Day], Format([REQDATE],"yy") AS [Year], Format([REQDATE],"mmddyy") AS [Both], [Both] & "SEA" & [PickUpReqData]![INITIALS] AS REFNO
FROM PickUpReqData;

But I can't seem to get my head around the part of generating the number. I know I had done this in a database I created 2 jobs ago but all my files were flooded out in Katrina. (I have since relocated to Atlanta, although I'm not looking for sympathy. But I will take what I can get!)

Anything to point me in the right direction will be appreciated. I am looking to have this on a form and feed the REFNO field in the PickUpReqData table.

Thanks.

One Lookup Or Auto Populate Field

Feb 25, 2006

Haven't touched Access in quite some time and now I can do a simple task.

Here's what I have:

2 Tables

Table 1 includes 2 fields COURSE CODE and COURSE NAME

Table 2 will be a list of students and the courses they have taken

What I'm trying to do is as I'm entering a new student in the database I want the course name to automatically fill in when I type in the course name.

I did lookup fields for both the course code and the course name to ensure the correct codes are entered. However since the data in table 2 does not autofill there is the posibilty of having a row with a course name that does not match the course code.

How can I force table to 2 match the course name and code relationship from table 1?
