Property Login Was Not Set. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.ConnectionInfo)

Hi, having a bit of a problem - I'm trying to attach a database in MS SQL Server Management Studio Express. When I try in Windows Authentication I can't see any of my databases when I try to browse, so I had a look around on Google a saw mentioned that I should maybe use SQL Server Authentication. Only I don't know my user name and password, where can I configure this? I remember when I was setting up entering a password, but not a user name. Any ideas?
 thanks

Failed To Retrieve Data For This Request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.SmoEnum)

I am learning the new .Net programming. In order to do that I have SQL Express Edition, Visual Basic 2005 Express edition and Visual Web Developer Express Edition too, I have too the tools for SQL wich are SQL Server Management and SQL Server Configuration. The problem that I want report you is the following:

I developed an application in Visual Basic Express Edition that access one SQL database. I have no problem if only acces it trough VB Express, but if I try to see the database via SQL Server Management or via Visual Web Developer Express Edition Or via Excell or whatever. It sends me the message error:

One or more files do not match the primary file of the database. If you are attempting to attach a database, retry the operation with the correct files.  If this is an existing database, the file may be corrupted and should be restored from a backup. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider)

And after that any application can not read this database, and I have to restore from a backup, and continue with my developing in VB.Net.
Some people said me that the problem is the oleobject in .Net, that I have to change to ODBC. Is it correct? Do you know something about this?

Error: System Cannot Find The File Specified: (Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.SQLEditors)

I know there are already several bug submissions on this error, and I am sure the cryptoAPI team is working to resolve this issue.. However... Is it possible that the CAPICOM update (KB931906) could have contributed to this issue? In my instance, I installed SQLServer 2005 Express w/ Adv Tools SP2 after a freash XP install. I checked it out, and everything worked fine. I updated windows (online) and now it gives this error. In fact, I cannot even run the un-install because the setup utility also hits the following error (as taken from the log file):

Do I Need License For Using SSIS Library (Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS) On Machine Where SQL Express Is Installed

I am working to develop an application using dotnet framework 2.0 that requires loading tab delimited text file (generated on each user action) in to table of SQL Express database. I am thinking to use SSIS library (Managed DTS) to call my SSIS package from within my application to load this data on each user transaction. This should be noted that I am not hosting my packages in to SQL Express.

Microsoft allows redistribution of SQL Express for free. Do I need any SQL Server or any other type of license for using SSIS library from my application?

Direction Property Have No Affect On Table - Microsoft Bug!?

Hi,

I am developing a report that should be localized dynamically. The report will have both arabic and western users. Therefore I need to use the direction property of some single text boxes, which works fine. But when setting the direction property to RTL for a table it has no affect!
You would assume that the whole tables content should be "reversed" and also the text in the table went from right to left. But no.

When viewing the report in IE and right clicked and click "View Source" you can see that the table do not have a direction style set, even though I set the property on the table in design mode.

I am going crazy about this issue! Could this be a MS bug?

I really need some help here...

PS. I have tried numerous of combinations of the different International properties to get the direction property to work - with no luck.

Does SQLServer Support Oracle Rownum Like Property

Hi,
We are engaged in a project that needs to transfer data from table in
batch (if table has 1000 rows, transfer 10 rows at a time). With Oracle
we can do this via Rownum property of each row. So we can generate SQL
to limit returned rows FROM a spefic Rownum To a spefic Rownum. How can
this be done in SQLServer ?

Please help.

Microsoft SQL Server Express And Microsoft Visual Studio...

I have a query that executes just fine except that it won't recognize varchar(255) ( or any other value within the () ) and if I leave it off like this: varchar, then it executes but it leaves that value as 1 and that is just not very useful for my purposes.  This also happens with anything else that requires () to add length such as char(), or nvarchar(), etc... Any ideas?

Problem Unicode Data 0x2300 In SQLServer 2000 SQLServer 2005 Express

Hi experts;
I have a problem with unicode character 0x2300
I created this table
create table testunicode (Bez nchar(128))

Insert Data
insert into testunicode (Bez)values('Œ€„¢')
with 2 Unicode characters
Œ€ = 0x2300
„¢ = 0x2122

Selecting the data
select Bez from testunicode
I see
"?„¢"

„¢ = 0x2122 is ok but instead of 0x2300 there is 0x3f

When I modify the insert statement like that ( 8960 = 0x2300 )
insert into testunicode (Bez)values(NCHAR(8960)+'„¢')

and select again voila i see
"Œ€„¢"
Does anyone have an idea?

Trying To 'load' A Copy Of A SQLServer 2000 Database To SQLServer 2005 Express

I am trying to 'load' a copy of a SQLServer 2000 database to SQLServer 2005 Express (on another host).  The copy was provided by someone else - it came to me as a MDF file only, no LDF file.

I have tried to Attach the database and it fails with a failure to load the LDF.  Is there any way to bypass this issue without the LDF or do I have to have that?

The provider of the database says I can create a new database and just point to the MDF as the data source but I can't seem to find a way to do that?  I am using SQL Server Management Studio Express.

Thanks!!

Replacing Sqlserver 2000 With Sqlserver 2005 Express

I have an app that uses a sqlserver 2000 jdbc driver to connect to a sqlserver 2000.

Is it possible to do a direct replacement of sqlserver 2000 with sqlserver 2005 express just by reconfiguring the app to point to the express?  The app would still be using the sqlserver 2000 jdbc driver to try and make the connection.

If that is a possibility, what can be some differences in the configuration?  Previously with 2000 the config information I entered is:

server name: "machinename"( or ip).  I've also tried "machiname/SQLEXPRESS"

DB name: name of db instance

port: 1433(default)

user and pass.

My attempts so far results in

"java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Error establishing socket."

and

"java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Unable to connect.  Invalid URL."

Microsoft.SqlServer.Management

I am looking for a way to script out all tables within a SQL Server 2005 database using VB.NET. I am writing a backup utility and have been able to do stored procedures, the data within the tables, but am now stuck on scripting out the tables with their primary keys, indexes, etc. Sure, I could hard-code some stuff like "CREATE TABLE dbo" & strTable, but I am pretty sure there is a way to do it within VB.NET using SMO. So, any help that someone could offer is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me why the DTS class isn't there.  The box I'm working on has visual studio 2005, and Yukon sp2.  And I think I'm running v.3 of the framework, so I should be good all the way around.

I  picked the Microsoft.SQLServer.ManagedDTS.dll from following folder:

C:WINDOWSassemblyGAC_MSILMicrosoft.SqlServer.ManagedDTS9.0.242.0__89845dcd8080cc91>

Similarly picked Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSRuntimeWrap.dll also.

I added it as reference in my .NET application.

When I execute the program I get below error:

Any Clue?

Application executes from a machine where SQL Server 2005 is not installed.

How to get the RunningPackages information back to a client PC?

SQL Server Express 2005: Can't Change The Login Password For My Sql Login

I recently changed the database for the Web Site Administration Tool that comes with ASP.Net 2.0.  When I clicked the security tab, I kept getting an error on the page saying:
There is problem with your selected data store.  This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission.  It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled.  Click the button below to be redirected to a page where you can choose a new data store.
The following message may help in diagnosing the problem:  Login failed for user '<myloginusername>'.
So I decided to check the database to make sure the password for my sql login match what I had in the web.config file.  After the change, I re-test the page and got the exact same error.   I checked the database again and realize my sql login user's password is not changing when I want it to.   I even tried to leave it blank and it accepted it.  I looked at the properties again and a password is still in there.  Is this bug in the application?

Issues With Microsoft SQL Serever 2005 Express Edition And Other Versions Of SQL Express

I have uninstalled the SQL Server Express Edition that I have installed from the CDs that were given to me during a Chicago Conference when READY TO  LAUNCH Visual Studio 2005, SQL SERVER 2005, and Biz Talk 2005.
Then I went to microsoft website: http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/sql/register/default.aspx and downloaded and installed the so called Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I got the messages Error that you read below. Then I Uninstalled Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition  and went again to msdn website and downloaded Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Advanced Services SP1 and installed it. I got again the same message as below.

MESSAGE:

1. First comes a window with the title: €œsetup.exe €“ Unable to Locate Component€?
And it displays a message:
This application has failed to start because MSTDCPRX.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem.
2. After I click the OK button of this window it comes another window with the title: €œMicrosoft SQL Server 2005 Server Setup€?
And it displays a message: Failed to load SqlSpars.dll

Does anybody can tell what is going on with the 3 times I tried to installed different SQL Server 2005 Express Edition and I get the same message?????

Thanks for your help and support when you have time to respond.
Sincerely,
TonyC

Enabling Microsoft EFS In A SQLServer 2000 Cluster

I am trying to encrypt data in a SQLServer 2000 Cluster using MicrosoftEFS. I have successfully encrypted a standalone DB but we are havingdifficulty with the Cluster. I am only encrypting the datafile.mdf.Has anyone implemented Microsoft EFS in a SQL Server 2000 cluster (allservers run Win2003EntEd)?All the Microsoft documentation describes how to enable EFS for a FileShare Resource in the cluster. However, for a sqlserver cluster thereis no File Share Resource, there is the SQLServer resources (networkname, ip, server), the Disk Resource, Cluster resources (network name,ip) plus some irrelevant others.Thank you for your help.
