Relationship Management In SQL 2005 Express Edition
Hello everybody,
I'm creating a database for my new web site. This database has around 9 tables and I would like to create the relationships for its tables. I know that in MS Access I can visually create the relationships, but after a log research about relationship management in SQL 2005 express edition, I'm not sure if this is possible in this environment.
So, if I'm not able to visualy manage my relationships, do I have to create them by using only SQL?

Hi all, I have installed SQL server 2005 express edition with SQL server Management studio express (SSMSE). I have installed also SQLce and I would know how I can manage sql compact edition databases (.ldf) with sql SSMSE, if it is possible! Hello.. I've installed Visual Basic 2005 express edition & tried to connect to SQL Server 2005 express edition. I noticed that VB2005 Express Edition doesn't have any OLEDB provider for SQL Server. The only OLEDB Provider is for M.Access. Is this correct? if so, what should i do if i want to connect SQL Server 2005 express edition with VB2005 express edition by using OLEDB connection type? Cannot Connect To SQL Server Express Edition Using Its Management Studio
Please, I use tyhe Visual Studion 2005 SQL Server Express Edition Management Studio (SMSE) to create the backend database and trying to set the connectionstring from the web config file, but what I continue to get as an error is that "<computername>/ASPNET" login failed for that user, cannot login to the Management Studio. This is my expression from the web config file <connectionStrings><clear /><add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS; Database=<dbname>;User Instance=true; Integrated Security=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> </connectionStrings> Is there anything I do wrong? Cannot Install SQL Server Management Studio After Removing Express Edition
I'm trying to upgrade my management studio to the full version, I uninstalled Express edition and started the install for the full version, but I get an error stating "you cannot install this component because it is already installed". I had a word with one of the guys in the office and he said the only way he's ever been able to get round this is by flattening the entire PC and starting again. Obviously I want to avoid that!

Hello everybody, I got a problem in my development phase. I'm developing a web-application system that running merge database technology which is centralized database and distributed database. This is because my customer want a highly optimum system standby. My centralized database running SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition and the distributed database running SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (because it is free). Each of these database, the users can change the data on its database. So, every database must have the same data. from my understanding, each server must act as Publisher and Subscriber. Can SQL Server 2005 Express Edition be a Publisher? If not, what the solution you all may suggest, because cost is the first factor. Windows CE 5 Device With SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition Sync With SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
I have: A server computer running SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition. A industrial computer running SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. And now also a Psion WorkAboutPro with CE 5 that should run SQL Server Compact Edition. The industrial computer syncs its data with the server, basically saying "this has happened". Now I want the Psion to sync with the industrial computer, but this sync must two-way. I have tried to find a guide or something that can tell me "do this to sync" but the information i have found is sketchy at best. I have the following questions on the page of "Minimize SQL Server 2005 Surface Area": (1) I saw "Configure Surface Area for localhost [change computer]". I clicked on [change computer] and I saw the following: Select Computer The Surface Area Configuration of this surface area of this computer or a remote computer. Can't Connect To SQL 2005 Express With SQL Server Management Studio Express
I've seen the following error posted when people try to connect to their server via their applications but didn't see anyone having problems when trying to connect with SQL Server Management Studio Express. Am I missing something here? This is the error:<<An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. Replicating From SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition To Remote SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
Hello, I have been unable to create a replication from an SQL Server 2005 standard edition database to remote SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. The remote express edition is on a Virtual Private Server we are leasing from a hosting company. The name of the remote DB is similar to vs572.si-vs572.com. I can connect to this with SQL server authentication through Management Studio and also with SSIS. But, I have been unable to create a push subscription (I have tried a test push subscription with the same publication to a local SQL Express server here in our office and this works fine). Here is the error message: SQL Server Replication requires the actual server name to make a connection to the server. Connections through server alias, IP address, or any other alternate name are not supported. Specify the actual server name, 'VS572SQLEXPRESS'. The hosting company had originally installed a shared SQL server which would not support replication. They then installed SQL Express edition and I was hoping this would allow us to run a replication. I tried to connect to VS572SQLEXPRESS with out any luck. I check the remote connections, made sure replication was installed, etc., but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Albert

Can't Login To SQL 2005 Express Edition Through Mangerment Studio Express
Hi, all I installed SQL 2005 express edition in my pc (Pro XP), then I can login from SQL 2005 Managerment Studio Express. After a few days later, I can't do it and an error message as belows: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. How Can I Access SQL Server Compact Edition With SQL Server Management Studio Express?
Hello, I just installed SQL Server Compact Edition, since I am considering using it instead of SQL Server Express for a local database in my application. The documentation mentioned that I could use SQL Server Management Studio Express to connect to the Compact Edition and create and manipulate databases. To try to connect, I run Management Studio and bring up the "Connect to Server" dialog. Unfortunately, the pull-down list of "Server name"s does not include the SQL Server Compact Edition server. I do not know how to type in the server name manually, so I cannot connect. To install Compact Edition, I downloaded it and ran "SQLServerCE31-EN.msi". This installed, and I assume registered, a number of DLLs in "C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server Compact Editionv3.1". Is there perhaps an additional step that I left out to complete the installation? Might I need an upgrade to some other components? Using SQL Server Management Studio Tools To Manage Dbs On SQL Server Express Edition
Hopefully a simple question: Is it possible to use Maintenance Plans created on SQL Server Management Studio (installed as part of an instance of SQL Server 2005 Standard Ed.) to back up databases running on an instance of SQL Server Express Edition with Advanced Services? I don't need directions, just whether or not it is permitted. I've been able to create the plans including establishing connections to from SSMS to the the SQL Express instance, but they keep erroring out. I just need to know if this is actually permitted since Maintenance Plans are not available on Management Studio Express Edition. Thank you in advance for your help.

How Can I Install SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition's Management Studio On A Desktop Machine?
I have installed Visual Studio 2005 Prof Edition on a Vista machine and SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition on a Windows 2000 server. They will be used as a development environment for us. As we need to management the SQL Server 2005, we would like to install the 2005 Developer SSMS on the Vista machine such that we can manage the SQL Server 2005 developer instance installed on that Win2k machine. However, the system does not allow us to do it. We have the express edition autoamtically installed while we installed the Vistual Studio. Is there any workaround that i can still install the 2005 developer SSMS without uninstall the sql server 2005 Xpress version? Or, I have to uninstall the Xpress version before i can install the 2005 developer's SSMS? Please help!

2005 Database Will Be Created In Both Management Studio Express And App_Data Folder Of VS 2005?
I have not created SQL Server 2005 database before. When installing a sample SQL Server 2005 Express database using a Configure.exe file from the Microsoft Press Book 'ADOnet 2.0', I can see the database in the App_Data folder of the Solution Explorer on VS 2005, as well as Management Studio Express. But for the MS Press book 'ASPnet 2.0', the web site created from the virtual directory of sample code showed an ASPNETDB database in the App_Data folder, but no ASPNETDB database in the SQL Server Management Studio Express. Is this the way how SQL Server 2005 will work -- the database can be displayed in both the Management Studio and App_Data, as the ADONET 2.0 database showed, or just in the App_Data folder, as the ASPNET 2.0 databae showed? SQL Server CE And SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition Yet Again
When I try to open a CE database from SSMSEE, I get the dreaded "You are trying to access an older version of a SQL Server Compact Edition database" error, with "Db version = 3505053, Requested version = 3004180." I am using what I believe to be the latest version of SSCE (3.5) and the latest version of SSMSEE (2005 SP2, Help|About reports the version as 9.00.3042.00). The database is created without error, compacted, repaired, and so forth, with no change to the error. Do I need to install or reinstall something, and if so what? Thanks.

My problem is that I cannot even create/open the compact database in Management Studio. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Visual Baisc 2005 Express Edition And SQL 2005 Database Diagram Tools
Hi, I have created a database using VB Express 2005 express edition and I have created number of tables and SP's etc. I am trying to use the database diagram tool but I get an error stating that the database doesn't have a valid dbo. I say yes to the prompt about making myself a valid dbo but I then get a message stating that I do not have permissions to imprersonate the dbo. How do I overocome this issue? Thanks Bill

Migrate ASP .net Web Site From Sql 2005 Express To Sql 2005 Standard Edition
Dear all,I've been using ASP.NET with SQL 2005 express for several months and everything has been fine. Now a customer asks me to install my application on an already existant instance of SQL Server standard edition.I was not able to use nor my application, neither a HelloWorld example.I created a simple Default.aspx that uses a simple database with a single table "Person" via a standard gridview. When I try to open the page I receive an error wich informs me that NT Network service is not able to access database.I've been searching on google for hours and I've tryed unsuccessfully several different way.Can anyone suggest me a scientific procedure to migrate an ASP .net web site from sql 2005 express to sql 2005 standard ?Thank you very Much Fabrizio

SQL Server 2005 Express Edition 2005 - Update Fails
HI, My computer keeps trying to download SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP2 and fails with the error code 0x2B22. It is a new computer running with Windows XP Pro. I have spent hours searching the forums and the internet, but I can't find anything to help, or I don't understand the solutions or whether they relate to my computer. Connecting To SQL Server 2005 From Visual C# 2005 Express Edition
I had SQL Server Express Edition installed. I then uninstalled both it and Visual C#. I then installed SQL Server 2005 Developer's Edition and reinstalled Visual C# -- both on the same machine. I can connect to SQL Server 2005 using SQL Server Management Studio. However, Visual C# is a different story. When I try to add a new Data Connection, it defaults the data source to .SQLEXPRESS, which is no longer on my machine. I can select .MSSQLSERVER, but when I click on either OK or Test Connection, I time out with an error message -- error 25 - Connection string is not valid. Please let me know what you think of this scheme I have come up with(not to imply that noone else has before me) for managingrelationships.I have created an entities table with Individual and Organizationalsubtypes. I need to be able to relate them to eachother (e.g., someare customers of or suppliers to others, some have employer/employeerelationships,...). I know this is not an uncommon thing to do.So, I have created relationship pairs with left and right values. Thepairs are things like employee/employer, customer/vendor,contractor/client,... Then I can create relationships that will letme look in two directions. File Name In SQL 2005 Management Studio Express
Hi there, I am just starting to learn SQL 2005 Express. After opening the Management Studio Express, I right Click on the Databases node and create new database. then create a name etc. The problem is that when I click ok to create the new database, I get a warning saying that Input a filename. However when I click on filename (after filepath) it is greyed out and I cant add a filename. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Regards DML

SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express
I am trying to install SQL Server Management Studio Express(SSMSE) on Windows XP SP2. But installtion does not get completed. It goes unto last step in the installation and then rollback itself. At the lat screen it displayes the message that "SQL Server Management Studio Express installation could not be completed as it was intreupted". Though I did not do any thing? I tried at least 20 times but it ends up here. I followed all the steps as defined in SQL Server Express setup on Microsoft site? Any help would be appreciated. ADK

Hello, I have installed SQL 2005 Express Management Studio several times and It fails to completely install. I get a message that SQL Server Express 2005 x84 did not install properly. I tried to uninstall it and reinstall it but I get the same problem. My Visual Web 2005 Express Edition and Visual Basic 2005 Express gives an error when I try to add a new database. The error is: "Failed to generate instance of SQL server due to a failure copying database files. The connection will be closed. Does anyone know what I can do to resolve this? Bug With SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express
Every time I try to remove 'condensed type' from the custom table view (working in database diagrams) the MSE crashes on me, as soon as I push the < button to remove it from the list of columns. Is there a forum or place to post such a bug, or someone to send full details to? When it dies, it doesn't give me an option to send the information to MS. Cheers, -jc
