SQL ServerDestination Error - Unable To Prepare The SSIS Bulk Insert For Data Insertion.
Having searched the forum, this one clearly has form... However beyond assisting those who have fallen at the first hurdle (i.e. forgetting/not knowing that they cannot execute the package remotely to the instance of SQL Server into which they are inserting), the issues raised by others have not been addressed. Thus I am bringing nothing new to the table here - just providing an executive summary of problems which others have run into, written about, but not received answers for. First the complete error: Description: Unable to prepare the SSIS bulk insert for data insertion. End Error Error: 2008-01-15 04:55:27.58 Code: 0xC004701A Source: <xxx> DTS.Pipeline Description: component "<xxx> failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202071. End Error DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1). Started: 4:53:34 AM Finished: 5:00:00 AM Elapsed: 385.384 seconds. The package execution failed. The step failed. Important points It mostly works - It produces no error more than 9 times out of 10. It fails on random dataflows - My package has several dataflows, (mostly) executing concurrently. Where the error occurs it does not do so on the same dataflow each time: on one run it'll fail on dataflow A whilst B,C,D and E succeed, then A-E will all succeed (and continue doing so for the next ten runs thereafter), and then the error recurs for dataflow D, with A,B,C and E all succeeding. Hope someone has something interesting to say, Tamim.

Can't Insert Data Into Sql Database
hi It seems that my code can insert data into memory, but not into the database. What I mean is that after "insert data", I can "read data", which I just insert. When I check the actual database table, it didn't get updated. I am using VS 2005 and table designer. Regarding to this problem, is it related to any setting of setup of the database? I check the code, and I have no idea how it occurs. private static string connectionString = null; private static SqlConnection connection = null; private static string commandString = null; private static SqlCommand command = null; private static SqlDataReader reader = null; static void Main(string[] args) { connectionString = ConfigurationManager .ConnectionStrings["appDatabase.Properties.Settings.databaseConnection String"] .ConnectionString; connection = new SqlConnection(connectionString); try { // Insert data commandString = @"INSERT INTO userTable (userID, permissionLevel, mobile, emailAddress, mailAddress, pager) VALUES(1, 2, '123', 'aa@a.com', 'oz', 'no')"; SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand(commandString, connection); connection.Open(); command.ExecuteNonQuery(); connection.Close(); // Read data commandString = @"select * from userTable"; command = new SqlCommand(commandString, connection); connection.Open(); reader = command.ExecuteReader(); while (reader.Read()) { Console.WriteLine(reader["permissionLevel"].ToString()); } connection.Close(); } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine(e.ToString()); } regards figo2476

Insert Data Values Into SQL Database
Ok what i am looking to do i cannot figure out. What i want to do is have a simple script that when a user logs onto the website (via windows auth) to get there username somehow llike with Request.ServerVariables("LOGON_USER") that should display there username either "domain/name" or "username" and then insert that into the UserLogs Table under my database with the date with the GETDATE() command.. Wich is the best way to do that? To make 80000 cals to the database or to send the file as xml to the database and after that to parse it ....... or if you know any other way it would help me very much. In this moment i m using the 80000 calls method and it takes ~20 hours. Please advice.... any advice will be highly apreciated. Thank you.

Using Stored Procedures To Insert And Pull Data From Database
I have my database: "RequestTrack" My table (with its columns): "Request"RequestKey (automatically generated)..and the Primary KeyEntryDate (datetime)Summary (nvarchar)RequestStatusCodeKey (bigint)EntryUserID (nvarchar)EntryUserEmail (nvarchar)I am wanting to create a basic web form where my user interface has 3 text boxes and a Submit button: txtUserID.TexttxtEmailAddress.TexttxtRequestSummary.Text **After I hit the submit button the information will then be inserted into the database. Also the RequestStatusCodeKey will be MANUALLY typed in so that will not require the user to add that. Please please please help ! I've been searching online for days and looking at various websites and still havent found anything. I've found somethings but they went into too much depth with too much information. I am just wanting to stay basic but w/o using SQLDataSource Controls. I would like to be able to store a lot of data. Thanks for your help!!!

Database Insert Question - Best Practices For Empty Data
I am making a form that takes input for 1 to 5 students using VWD. With the help of previous posts I have been able to make the database insert query work properly. In my form I have a radio list that has the user select if they are entering information for 1, 2, 3,4, or 5 children. Depending on how many children are selected on the radio list, I am displaying the proper number of textboxes and validating the data using the handy RequiredFieldValidator. Now I am at the point where I want to perform the instert to the database depending on the selected number of children in the family. What is the general rule for best practices. Please keep in mind that it is my understanding that ALL fileds in a SQL insert statment must have data. Should I ...1) create alternative SQL statements depending on the textboxes displayed OR2) is it more common to insert a standard string or integer, depending on the datatype, into the unused textboxes to populate the unused fields? Sincerely,Mike

Help In Creating Insert Statements For Retreiving Data From Database
Hi all, Could someone tell me how to get the data from all tables of the database in the form of insert script? We are moving our databse from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. The scripts for the Database, Tables, Views , Procedures, Functions have been obtained and it is only the data that is remaining. Some are small tables with 5 to 6 columns but there are some with 50 odd columns. A friend of mine told me about a procedure that returns a dataset with INSERT statements by passing a table name as a parameter. Such procedure would be of great help. Thank you

Mass Insert / Update External Data Into Internal SQL Database
Hola!I'm currently building a site that uses an external database to store all the product details, and an internal database that will act as a cache so that we don't have to keep hitting the external database to retrieve the products every time a customer requests a list. What I need to do is retrieve all these products from External and insert them into Internal if they don't exist - if they do already exist then I have to update Internal with new prices, number in stock etc.I was wondering if there was a way to insert / update these products en-mass without looping through and building a new insert / update query for every product - there could be thousands at a time!Does anyone have any ideas or could you point me in the right direction?I'm thinking that because I need to check if the products exist in a different data store than the original source, I don't have a choice but to loop through them all.Cheers,G.

Howto: Insert Multiple Rows Of Data From A Gridview Into A Sql Database
I have a gridview with rows of info which does not go into edit mode. A user clicks a checkbox which picks that item and adds a quantity which does some calculations. What i need to do is when a user clicks on a button, it should scan through the gridview for all items checked and pick up the quantity values and a couple of other field values and insert the information into a sql database What would be the best way of doing this? I tried the following example using a stored proc, but could not locate the proper reference or namespace for Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase(); StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder(); sb.Append("<absorbentitems>"); // Gets the selected rows in the gridview foreach (GridViewRow dvr in gvAbsorbents.Rows) { CheckBox checkbox = (CheckBox)dvr.FindControl("tbQty"); // Check to see if the CheckBox is checked or not if (checkbox.Checked) { // Make the string here sb.Append("<item code=""); sb.Append(((CheckBox)dvr.FindControl("lblItemCode")).Text); sb.Append("">"); sb.Append("</item>"); sb.Append("<itemordered qty=""); sb.Append(((CheckBox)dvr.FindControl("tbQty")).Text); sb.Append("">"); sb.Append("</itemordered>"); } } sb.Append("</absorbentitems>"); Database db = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase(); DBCommandWrapper insertCommandWrapper = db.GetStoredProcCommandWrapper("usp_InsertManyRows"); insertCommandWrapper.AddInParameter("@XMLDOC", DbType.String, sb.ToString()); try { db.ExecuteNonQuery(insertCommandWrapper); //Label1.Text = "Data Inserted"; } catch (Exception ex) { //Label1.Text = ex.Message; } Any way of making the above example work or any other better way of inserting multiple rows of data from a gridview into an sql database would be super. thanks!

1 Log File Can Contain More Records After Performing Backup Database Statement, 2 Why Can't Insert Data When Is Log Is Not Full
question 1: i found that database log file can contain more records after performing backup database statement. for example: i create a database and limit the log file to 2mb. then i create a table and insert data. If i backup the database before i insert data , the database file can contain 192 records unitl the log file is full. If i don't perform the 'backup database' statement. The 'dbcc sqlperf(logspace)' indicate the utilization ratio is less than 40% after inserting 192 records why? I list my code: Code Snippet create database db_test on primary ( name=db_test, filename='C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDatadb_test.mdf' ) log on ( name=db_test_log, filename='C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDatadb_test_log.ldf', maxsize=2mb ) go backup database db_test to disk='db_test.bak' --- if i don't execute this line, log file can contain a lot of record go create table db_test..table1(col char(8000)) --insert data to fill up the database log declare @n int set @n=0 while @n<192 begin insert into db_test..table1 values(replicate('a',8000)) set @n=@n+1 end question 2: i create a database and limit the log file to 2mb. Then i create a table and insert data in an endless loop. After the inserting operation executing for a while, the 9002 error occurs, indicate the log file for the database is full. But the 'dbcc sqlperf(logspace)' command indicate the unilization ratio is low, and log_reuse_wait_desc in sys.database is 'CHECKPOINT' And I can insert data , and i'm sure the state of log_use_wait_desc is 'CHECKPOINT'. As i known, the checkpoint can't truncate log under full recovery model. Only the back log operation can truncate the transaction log. So log is not full, why 9002 error is encounterd. and why the log_reuse_wait_desc return 'CHECKPOINT'? I list my code: Code Snippet create database db_test on primary ( name=db_test, filename='C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDatadb_test.mdf' ) log on ( name=db_test_log, filename='C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDatadb_test_log.ldf', maxsize=2mb ) go create table db_test..table1(col char(8000)) --insert data to fill up the database log declare @n int set @n=0 while @n<>-1 begin insert into db_test..table1 values(replicate('a',8000)) end any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Find The Best Approch To Insert Data In Sql Server Database Based On Perfrmance Metrics
I have two VB.NET dataclient program A abd B. What i want to do is .. to find the best way to insert the high speed data( that comes at every 10 ms) to the sql server express database table . I have two options to store the data in the table . One is to insert all the data in one row , the other is to divide it into many rows in the same table . In approach A i will get like 10 records per second and in approach B i may get i may get 30 - 50 records per second based on the amount of data that is comming . i.e i am creating a new row in the table for every extra column added in Approach A and duplication the other columns. Insert ... Exec Unable To Begin A Distributed Transaction
I have 3 development SQL Servers A, B & C, all running SQL 2000 sp3 and Windows 2003. Servers B & C have a linked server pointing to A, and A has one pointing to B & C. The linkedservers all have RPC , RPC out enabled. I have a stored procedure called test on server A. Create Proc test as Select Top 5 first_name, last_name from people GO --code ran on Servers B & C: create table #tmptbl (nm varchar(100), nm2 varchar(100)) insert into #tmptbl Exec ServerA.db1.dbo.test When the Insert....Exec code above is ran from server B it works fine, however when I run it from Server C, I get error 7391 The operation could not be performed because the OLE DB provider 'SQLOLEDB' was unable to begin a distributed transaction. [OLE/DB provider returned message: New transaction cannot enlist in the specified transaction coordinator. ] OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'SQLOLEDB' ITransactionJoin::JoinTransaction returned 0x8004d00a] But regular linked server calls (directly to tables) and openquery calls work fine from either server... Eg insert into #tmp Select top 5 first_name, last_name from ServerA.db1.dbo.people --and this works also insert into #tmp Select * from openquery(ServerA, 'Exec db1.dbo.test') Both servers (B & C) appear to be configured the same, and I have reconfigured MSDTC on all three boxes through control panel and component manager, have tried using SET xact_abort, SET implicit_transactions, registry hacks (TurnoffRPCsecurity), basically everything listed on Microsoft, and everything I've been able to find in these groups. If anyone has any ideas, I'd like to hear them. Tim.

Linked Server Unable To Insert Result Into A Table
I have a 2000 machine which calls a stored procedure on another 2000 machine via a linked server. The results come back and insert into a temporary table. When I use the same code executing the from the 2000 machine over to 2005 machine via a linked server I cannot insert into the table. But I am able to see the data if I remove the insert statement. I have tried to place the data into a permanent table without success. I have also checked to be sure the linked server properties are the same. Any help on this would be appreciated. Below is the code. It is very simple and returns only one value but the bigger procedure that is ran returns several records and mutliple columns. This seems to easy but doesn't work.
