Http://localhost/reportserver Gives 404
Hello, I'm having some difficulty getting Report Server to come up via a web browser or through Management Studio. I know that IIS is configured and running as localhost gives me the page under construction message but when I add Reports or ReportServer after the slash it just gives me a 404 error for both urls. I've searched quite a few places and have not found anything that helps to fix the issue. The Reports Server configuration is all green checkmarks. The last thing I did was check permissions on the ReportServer directory for the ASP Net user and that looked good also. Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide to help troubleshoot this problem as it's very frustrating. Thanks!

http://localhost/reportserver allows me to get to the reports, but there used to be another way I did it. I thought it was http://localhost/reports, which gave me a nicer looking page and put icons that says "new" on the new reports. Am I imagining this?

I created a dataset that links to the data source 'f_MsOracleEmLims'. This data source works OK in report design but just does not work out in localhost. What it means and how to solve it. Error &&"Connection Could Not Be Made To The Report Server&&" When Attempting Deployment
I'm working through the SQL2005 Reporting Services Tutorial. When I try to deploy, I get the error "Connection could not be made to the report server." It appears that I do not have permissions to get to localhost/reportserver (I get a permissions error when just trying to get there directly from "run"). In another forum I saw several people having the same issue. One contributor said that the problem was solved for him by uninstalling SQL2005 and reinstalling using the local system account rather than a windows domain account. I tried that, but am getting the same error. Anyone know how to fix this?

Disable Directory Browsing In Http://mysite/ReportServer
I know this has been asked, but to date, I have found no answer. Is it possible to block directory browsing on the http://[mysite]/ReportServer when anonomous access is granted in IIS on the ReportServer virtual directory? I have public reports that I need to distribute that access the database, but when someone browses to the the above URL they get a directory listing, including the data source, which they can click on an see the entire connection string but the password. That is enough to be a security risk. I either need to prevent directory browsing while still allowing anonomous access to the reports OR does someone have a better method to serve reports securely to the public? Thanks

Please Help Me To Resolve The 28017 Error (An Incorrect Or Unsupported HTTP Function Call Was Made), Thanks A Lot.
Now I need to synchonize the data in Pocket PC to the remote sql server database. I have configured the publication and the virtual directory in the server. When the Pocket PC directly connects to the server (that to say, the Pocket PC connects to the server through the ActiveSync), the data can be synchronized successfully. But when the Pockec PC connects to another computer () through the ActiveSync (this computer connects to the server through the network), the data cannot be synchronized. But when I run the application in the emulator in the same computer, the data can be synchonized with the server. using the following codes, the error message is: Error Code: 80004005 Message: Minor Err: 28017 Source: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Mobile Edtion. private void ShowErrors(SqlCeException ex) { SqlCeErrorCollection oErrors = ex.Errors; StringBuilder oStrBld = new StringBuilder(); Exception oInner = ex.InnerException; foreach (SqlCeError oErr in oErrors) { oStrBld.Append("Error Code: " + oErr.HResult.ToString("X")); oStrBld.Append("Message : " + oErr.Message); oStrBld.Append("Minor Err.: " + oErr.NativeError); oStrBld.Append("Source : " + oErr.Source); foreach (int iNumPar in oErr.NumericErrorParameters) { if (iNumPar != 0) oStrBld.Append("Num. Par. : " + iNumPar); } foreach (String sErrPar in oErr.ErrorParameters) { if (sErrPar != String.Empty) oStrBld.Append(" Err. Par. : " + sErrPar); } MessageBox.Show(oStrBld.ToString(), "SqlCeException"); oStrBld.Remove(0, oStrBld.Length); } } The environment is: Client: Sql mobile (sql ce 3.0) Server: windows 2003 server sql server 2000 with sp4 IIS 6 And I'm quite sure the virtual directory is correct. Any body can help me? It's urget for me, thanks in advance.

SQL Server Configuration Manager: Connection To Target Machine Could Not Be Made In A Timely Fashion
I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over. Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in. The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one. All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account. When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.". I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up. All of the SQL Server services run fine. It is just this management console that I cannot open. I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history. Any help would be appreciated.

An Attempt Has Been Made To Use A Data Extension 'ORACLE' That Is Not Registered For This Report Server.
I am attempting to deploy a sample report (SQL 2005 Workgroup w/SP2) and I am receiving the subject error message when I attempt to view the report on the web server. We are using SQL Server 2005 Workgroup Edition connecting to an Oracle database. Is this a limitiation of this version? In report designer, I am able to select Oracle as a connection type. If I try to create a data source at the server, "Microsoft SQL Server" is the only option available. If I look at the ReportServer config file, I see many other data connection types available. Did I miss a step, or is this a Workgroup Edition limitation (it's not documented as a limitation that I am able to find)? Thanks in advance...
