Change Results In Column To Display Different

Jan 30, 2004

I have a column in the following select startement called displayvalue. Displayvalue is a varchar column. Primary everything entered into this column is numeric, but there are times when NR is entered. In the select query if it sees NR, I would like to have NR changed in the resultset to NULL or blank. NR doesn't come up all of the time, but I have not idea how to do this in the select statment.

Here goes..

SELECT SAMPLE.SAMPLEID, SAMPLE.U_WORKORDERNUMBER, SAMPLE.U_SAMPLEDATETIME, SDI.PARAMID, SDI.DISPLAYVALUE
FROM SAMPLE SAMPLE, SDIDATAITEM SDI
WHERE ( (SAMPLE.SAMPLEID = SDI.KEYID1) AND
(SAMPLE.U_WORKORDERNUMBER = '0060') AND (SAMPLE.U_SAMPLEDATETIME > '31-DEC-2003') AND (SDI.PARAMID = 'BOD') )
ORDER BY SAMPLE.SAMPLEID ASC, SDI.PARAMID ASC

Change Display Of Result Set From Showing As Rows To Column As One Or More

May 13, 2014

I am interested in changing the way that data is displayed in my result set.Essentially I want to display a selection of rows (1 to n) as columns, the following diagram explains my intentions.Perhaps one of the greatest challenges here is the fact that I do not have a concrete number of rows (or BIN numbers). Each stock item could be stored in one or more BINS, which I will not know until running my query.

Need To Display Results Of A Query, Then Use A Drop Down List To Filter The Results.

Feb 12, 2008

Hello. I currently have a website that has a table on one webpage. When a record is clicked, the primary key of that record is transfered in the query string to another page and fed into an sql statement. In this case its selecting a project on the first page, and displaying all the scripts for that project on another page. I also have an additional dropdownlist on the second page that i use to filter the scripts by an attribute called 'testdomain'. At present this works to an extent. When i click a project, i am navigated to the scripts page which is empty except for the dropdownlist. i then select a 'testdomain' from the dropdownlist and the page populates with scripts (formview) for the particular test domain. what i would like is for all the scripts to be displayed using the formview in the first instance when the user arrives at the second page. from there, they can then filter the scripts using the dropdownlist.
My current SQL statement is as follows.
SelectCommand="SELECT * FROM [TestScript] WHERE (([ProjectID] = @ProjectID) AND ([TestDomain] = @TestDomain))"
So what is happening is when testdomain = a null value, it does not select any scripts. Is there a way i can achieve the behaivour of the page as i outlined above? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
James.

Display Query Results Horizontally One ID/row

Feb 6, 2003

I have a table where the ID column is a forign key as shown below:

select * from Joel_Table

IDID_Value
1One
2Two
3Three
1Four
2Five
3Six
1Seven
2Eight
3Nine
1Ten

Now, I order the result set based on the ID column:

select ID, ID_Value from Joel_Table
group by ID, ID_Value
order by ID, ID_Value

IDID_Value
1Four
1One
1Seven
1Ten
2Eight
2Five
2Two
3Nine
3Six
3Three

I want though to order the result set as one ID per row:
ID ID_Value ID_Value ID_Value ID_Value
1 Four One SevenTen
2 Eight Five Two
3 Nine Six Three

What is the best way of accomplishing this task?

Thank you much in advance -

Display Results Based On Query

Mar 3, 2005

Hi,

I don't know if anyone has encountered this before but here goes:

I've a select clause below:
result = "Select * from person where LocalName LIKE N'" + queryLocalName + "'"

queryLocalName is an input field that allows the user to search for non-English characters in the database.

What I'm wondering is what kind of effect is the N in the where clause is having?

I can't seem to get it to work when doing it via the web. I've tested in the database itself, got it to work using the SQL Analyser but when testing on the web, it can't find because ? are appearing in the result.

Display The Number Of Results Found For A Subcategory

Oct 13, 2004

Hello,

I am working on a project that displays images. Before you can get to the image, you have to select a category that the image may be in. After that, you select the sub categories. I am trying to display a count of the number of records that the subcategories contain. Here is an example:

The user can make a selection from the categories listed below:

Geographic Area
Time Period
Topic
Record Type

If the user selects time period, he/she is taken to a list of subcategories. I would like to display the subcategories with a count of the number of records that will be displayed if it is selected. Listed below is an example of what this would look like:

Colonial (10) -----the number in parenthesis is the number of records that will be displayed if selected------
Gilded Age (12)
Revolutionary (9)
Progressive Era (22)

Is there a way to display the number in parenthesis using ASP.Net and SQL Server 2000? Any clues will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Display Results Based On Percentage Match

May 5, 2008

Dear Pals,

I have small requirement in my project.
I need to display the results of the WHERE clause based on percentage/ranking of exact match.

I mean the result set should be displayed based on percentage match.

For example i have the below table.

create table test
(
id int identity(1,1) primary key,
ename varchar(10)
)

insert into test(ename) select 'REG'
insert into test(ename) select 'xyz'
insert into test(ename) select 'abc'
insert into test(ename) select 'Reg'
insert into test(ename) select 'Regsxysn'
insert into test(ename) select 'psReg'

I need the output something similar as below

REG
Reg
Regsxysn
psReg

I have tried out with full text indexing but i could'nt get the required output.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance.

Have Query Results Display Vertical Instead Of Horizontal?

Apr 15, 2015

I have a query that calculates sales by sales person, but it displays horizontally across my query window. Is their a way in SQL Server to have the data display vertically down the window instead?

This is my current query

Code:

Select
count(case when salesman Like 'Geo%' then id else null end) As [George]
,count(case when salesman Like 'Li%' then id else null end) As [Lisa]
,count(case when salesman Like 'Jor%' then id else null end) As [Jorge]
,count(case when salesman Like 'Ri%' then id else null end) As [Richard]
,count(case when salesman Like 'Geo%' then id else null end)+count(case when salesman Like 'Li%' then id else null end) As [Team 1 Sales]
,count(case when salesman Like 'Jor%' then id else null end)+count(case when salesman Like 'Ri%' then id else null end) As [Team 2 Sales]
from sales.southeastregion

Which of course shows the results as such

George --- Lisa --- Jorge --- Richard --- Team 1 --- Team 2
100 50 10 90 150 100

And I want the data to be displayed like

George - 100
Lista - 50
Jorge - 10
Richard - 90
Team 1 - 150
Team 2 - 100

This is SQL Server 2008 if that matters.

Where Do I Change The From Email Display Name For RS2005?

Jul 20, 2007

All of the subscription emails that go out has a "From" display name of "POP3", so when the receipients receive the email, they see "POP3" in the "From" field. I would like to change this so ill-informed users don't delete the emails thinking they're junk/virus email.

Of course if the email software being used by the receipients doesn't support displaying a "From" name, then only the actual email will show and, in that case, it will be perfectly fine.

I'm trying to account for the less-than-educated end-users with minimal literacy in computers.

Does anyone know how to change this? Thanks!

SQL Server 2012 :: Calculate Elapsed Time And Display As Row In Results

Jun 19, 2015

I am trying to calculate the time difference between the value in the row and the min value in the table. So say the min value in the table is 2014-05-29 14:44:17.713. (This is the start time of the test.) Now say the test ends at 2014-05-29 17:10:17.010. There are many rows recorded during that start and end time, for each row created a time stamp is created. I am trying to calculate the elapsed time and have it as a row in the results.

min(timestamp) - timestamp(value in row) = elapsed time for that test
where Channel = '273'

Here is the table DDL

CREATE DATABASE SpecTest;
USE SpecTest
GO

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Spec1](
[Spec1ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL,
[Channel] [int] NOT NULL,

[Code] ....

Here is some dummy data to use

INSERT INTO Spec1 (Channel, Timestamp, Lambda, Power)
VALUES(273, '2014-05-29 14:44:17.713', 800, '-64.91');
INSERT INTO Spec1 (Channel, Timestamp, Lambda, Power)
VALUES(273, '2014-05-29 15:05:09.507', 800, '-59.11');
INSERT INTO Spec1 (Channel, Timestamp, Lambda, Power)

[Code] ....

Example desired results (I hope the formatting works)

Channel | Timestamp | Lambda | Power | Elapsed_Time
______________________________________________________________
273 | '2014-05-29 14:44:17.713', | 800, | '-64.91' | 0
273 | '2014-05-29 15:05:09.507', | 800, | '-64.91' | 00:20:51
273 | '2014-05-29 15:26:00.520', | 800, | '-64.91' | 00:41:42

How To Launch Package From Client Machine, Display Progress And Finally Results?

Oct 4, 2006

Please help. I'm completely new to SSIS, and I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction(s).

I am developing a winforms client app, and I need to be able to provide the user with the ability to import data in CSV format into our application's database.

I'd like to use SSIS if possible, as long as what I am trying to do isn't near impossible.

I'm thinking of a UI where the user can specify a flat file (CSV) to upload and be processed by an SSIS package on a remote database server.

This package will be responsible for validating the CSV file and inserting data into the database as appropriate.

Is there a way I can:

launch an SSIS package remotely, from a winforms app on the client machine that is not running SQL server (preferably asynchronously) -- and pass it some parameters, including the import file itself
(optionally) provide progress feedback to the client pc to let them know it is being processed
display a nice SSRS report on the client upon completion that tells them exactly what the success/failure of the import was (how many rows processed, which ones failed and why, etc)

Any helpful examples, links, etc would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Change/Add Report Fields To Display Based On The Parameter Selected

Dec 18, 2007

I have a report parameter named "Schools" which display a list of schools. For example, Alo elementary school, Balo middle school and Calo high school.

When "Alo elementary" is selected the report only display students from that school along with other assessments data fields. same goes for other schools too. But I want to display different data fields for "Calo high school" when it is selected. It is not currently possilbe becasue I am using the same template for all types of schools. There some fields only should be displayed for "Calo high school" but not for any other type of schools.

I can accomplish this by creating two separate report, one for "Calo high school" and the other for other schools. But I want to accomplish this just by creating one report. So when "Alo elementary school" is selected it displays report with certain fields and when "Calo high school" is selected then it displays same fields as "Alo elementary school" but as well as some other fields too in the report. Is this possible? Need help.

Is there a way to change the display value so that I can choose the attribute from the entity from which I want the user to choose? In other words, I would like to display the hierarchy name instead of the code, which is really just the primary id.

Alter Column Results In Incorrect Syntax Near 'column'

My column name is correct - I don't know why it would run fine against pubs, but not my db. I do not have quoted identifiers turned on. I have tried using [] around my column name [toclause], but that didn't change anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Results Produce A Single Record Based Off Of Parameters. Want To Change It So It Returns Multiple Records.

Dec 20, 2007

I have a query that will return one record as its results if you provide two variables: @login and @record_date. This works great if you only want one result. However, now what I want to do is not provide those variables and get the result set back for each login and record_date combination. The hitch is that there are several other variables that are built off of the two that are supplied. Here is the query:

Display ROW As A COLUMN

Mar 15, 2008

I am JOINing a Table with a View, and the View can have multiple rows relating to the join condition(i.e. My view as 4 columns, and can look like the following:
A  B C D
A E F G
B H I J
I want this to look like -
A B C D E F G
B H I J
I want one row, but not one column, I need to maintain each value in its own column, withinin a single row.
Doesn't matter to me if that transition happens in my View or as the outcome of my Join.
I've been looking at the PIVOT command, but that appears to only work with an aggrgrate function. I don't want to calculate/aggreagte anything, just combine my multiple rows in one.
This is my VIEW stmt -
SELECT     [PKG ID] AS PKG_ID, [APPR GRP NAME], [USRID OF APPR], [APPR STATUS]FROM         dbo.pkgapproversWHERE     ([APPR STATUS] = 'approved') AND ([APPR GRP TYPE] = 'E')
This is my Join stmt - set @sql = N'SELECT DISTINCT [PKG ID] AS PKG_ID, [ELM ACT] AS Action, [END EXEC DATE] AS "Exec Date", [COMMENT] AS Comment, [USRID OF APPR]
FROM [PkgAction]
FULL JOIN vw_PkgApprovals
ON PkgAction.[PKG ID] = vw_PkgApprovals.[PKG_ID]
WHERE 1=1'

Any thoughts....Thanks

Easy SQL Question. How To Display Query Results In Query Analyzer

Feb 12, 2008

When I run the following query from Query Analyzer in SQL Serer 2005, I get a message back that says.
Command(s) completed successfully.
What I really need it to do is to display the results of the query. Does anyone know how to do this?
declare     @SniierId as   uniqueidentifierset @SniierId = '85555560-AD5D-430C-9B97-FB0AC3C7DA1F'declare    @SniierAlias  as nvarchar(50)declare    @AlwaysShowEditButton  as bitdeclare     @SniierName  as  nvarchar (128)/* Check access for Sniier */SELECT TOP 1       @SniierName      = Sniiers.SniierName,        @SniierAlias    = Sniiers.SniierAlias,        @AlwaysShowEditButton = Sniiers.AlwaysShowEditButtonFROM SniiersWHERE Sniiers.SniierId=@SniierId

How *NOT* To Display Header Column

May 19, 2004

Hi,

1. This is what SET NOCOUNT ON does:

-- SET NOCOUNT to ON and no longer display the count message.
SET NOCOUNT ON
GO
SELECT au_lname
FROM authors
GO

2. Now, is it possible and what is the statement to use if I don't want to display
the header column? au_lname. Thanks.
