Connection Manager To Connect Ot Access Mdb

How do you setup a conntection in ssis to connect to an access mdb? I have used DTS to upload access tables to sql and want to do the same in the new ssis services. I migrated the DTS package but the connection in created for the access mdb does not work in ssis and is shown to be be illegal. The migration did not post any errors when it migrated the package.

Can No Longer Access Report Manager - The Underlying Connection Was Closed: An Unexpected Error Occurred On A Receive.

Hi,

For a long time I've had SQL Server 2000 with RS on a Server2003 machine.
When I want to publish a report from my Dev box, I remove anon. access on the Production machine, deploy the report, then go into report manager to tweak a couple of parameters.  I then re-enable anon. access so users can continue.

Yesterday, I removed anon. access and deployed the report but when I went into Report Manager I received the above error message... "The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive."

I can get into report manager with anonymous access enabled, but I don't have authority to do anything.

What's happened!!!?   More importantly, how do I fix it?

Hi,

I am working on SQL Server 2005 (x64) with Windows Server 2003 (x64) operating system. I am having a major issue in SSIS. Here is the detailed explanation of the issue :

I have an EXCEL file in 2003 / 2007 version. It contains some data. I want to import the data using SSIS into SQL Server 2005 (x64) database table. I have taken "EXCEL FILE SOURCE" and "SQL Server DESTINATION". It was failed on importing data. Surprisingly it works fine in SQL Server 2005 (x32). Can you please explain why it is NOT woking on (x64) ?

Here is the error code i am getting:

[Excel Source [1]] Error: The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Excel Connection Manager" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

The Connection Type &&"OLEDB&&" Specified For Connection Manager Is Not Recognized As A Valid Connection Manager Type - Why?
Greetings,

I have an SSIS package that I need to modify.  It was developed in Visual Studio 2005 and runs faithfully in production on SQL Server 2005.  Suddenly, I can't open the package on my own workstation.  I see a big red "X" image and a message stating "Microsoft Visual Studio is unable to load this document."  The real reason the document can't be loaded appears to be:

Error loading DataWarehouseLoader.dtsx: The connection type "OLEDB" specified for connection manager "Warehouse Logging OLE DB" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.

Does anyone know what causes this and what I can do?  The package has been in production for 9 months and I've never seen this problem before.

Thanks,
BCB

Failed OLEDB Connection: Cannot Aquire Connection From Connection Manager

Could anyone suggest a clean way to trap these errors?  Specifically, the "Cannot Aquire Connection from Connection Manager", which is the excel connection.

Want To Reference Connection Managers From Within A Data Flow Task/Custom Connection Manager
Hi,
is there a way to get the references of connection managers from within a custom data flow task during runtime?
In
control flow tasks the connection service object can be used to get the
references to connection managers. For data flows I haven't found a way
yet.

Another question:
Where can I get a sample for a custom connection manager which is explained here

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345276.aspx

My installation for sample codes does not contain connection manager samples.

Edit Connection Manager Connection String At Runtime With C#
This is the first time I have used SSIS, so please bear with the ignorance.

I have a super simple package that inserts x000's of rows into a temporary table. The data source is a file that the user will upload. I need to be able to tell the package what file to upload. I'm thinking the simplest thing would be to edit the connectionString property of the SourceConnectionFlatFile at runtime. Is this possible? What form should the file path be in (UNC, other)? And, are there any other considerations I should be aware of?

How To Re-use Connection Manager ADO.NET Connection In A Script Task?
I'm currently using:

Dts.Connections.Item("myADO.NET connection").AcquireConnection(Nothing)Dim conn As New SqlClient.SqlConnection(Dts.Connections.Item("myADO.NET connection").ConnectionString)
conn.Open()

This seems silly, in that I'm not really using the same connection, but using the connection string of a connection that already exists. And, for my purposes, it's not working currently, because I've switched from Windows Authentication to SQL Auth... and the password isn't coming over in the ConnectionString property.How do I re-use the exact same ADO.NET connection I have in my connection manager in a script task? That's the recommended way to go, right?

Enterprise Manager DB Connect
I am using Enterprise Manager to connect to a MsSQL database which is hosted my my service provider.

When I try connect it takes forever to connect (like 40min literally). I figured out that its becuase they are currently hosting more that 400 databases on the same server and when I connect to the server I have to load all the databases. Once connected I can see all the databases they are hosting. I dont have access to these databases.

I am on a ADSL 384kb line if that gives a better idea of how much I have to load just to get to my database. This is really irritating as every chage to the db takes ages.

Is there a way I can specify that I only want to load my database?
If not with enterprise manager, is there another software package that would allow me to do this?

I'd really appreciate help on this... thank you!

Bcp Cannot Connect Via Local Connection, But Can Using Remote Connection?
Hi. I'm (very) new to SQL Server. I have run into what seems to be a very common problem, judging by the number of Google hits, but it's not actually in the FAQs here, as far as I can see.

Situation
I installed SQL Server Express with Advanced Services 2005 on my Windows XP Pro laptop, using (with one exception) the default install. The exception was to put the data files on a separate partition (D: ) where I have more free space.

SQL Server Management Studio Express connects happily, and I set up a single data import table.

Issue: bcp Fails to connect to default local instance
I initially tried bcp in output mode, prior to working in earnest on importing my data. However the command line-

bcp MyDatabaseName.dbo.UserProfile out UserProfile.txt -T -c

Fails with the error-

Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2].

As I understand it, the local instance of SSE is the default, and should use a local (shared memory?) connection. This seems to work for Management Studion Express, but not bcp.

While investigating this problem, I tried enabling remote connections (all types) through the Surface Area Configuration wizard, and found that remote connections using either of:

bcp eSpacePh1.dbo.UserProfile out UserProfile.txt -T -c -S localhostsqlexpress
bcp eSpacePh1.dbo.UserProfile out UserProfile.txt -T -c -S mycomputernamesqlexpress

both work ok.

Extra Info
When starting Management Studio Express, it says something like "Configuring environment for the first time". However it says this every time it is started, not just the first run after installation, does this indicate some configuration data is not being successfully stored?

I have found threads that look similar to my issue-

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=836670&SiteID=1
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=3351349&SiteID=1

However these do not relate directly to bcp, and to be honest my knowledge of SSE is slender enough at this stage that i'm unsure if there are really relevant.

Any hints on how to proceed much appreciated.

Regards: Colin E.

I Can't Connect To My SQL Database Using Enterprise Manager :(
Hello,

I am trying to solve this problem for the past 1.5 weeks and it is driving me crazy :(

I can't connect to my SQL database using Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, Visual Studio 2003 .NET or a .aspx that I created for testing.. it runs perfectly on my domain but it doesnt work on my computer, on the browser I get this message: SQL Server unavailable or access denied. It is the same message I get when I try connecting to my db using EM, QA, VS.NET etc :(

I can ping my sql domain, so I know I have access to it and it is working.. I can successfully connect to my personal SQL server running on my machine. (SQL Server Personal Edition running on Windows XP )

I tried doing everything I could,

I already selected TCP/IP as my client only protocol;
I tried installing the lastest MDAC (v 2.8);
I tried every other port on my TCP/IP client setup like 14333 or 11433 or 11143 etc;
I tried every other port on the alias I set for my sql address;
I tried downloading the evaluation version of MS SQL2000 and updating it to SP3;
I tried reinstalling several times my MS SQL2000 (I use the personal edition on my windows XP) and updating it to SP3;
I tried connecting to my sql address domain and directly to its IP;
And I tried a lot more resolutions that I can't remember right now, but it didn't work :(

I've been searching all forums/google etc looking for someone with my problem but I still didnt, everyone who had a problem connecting to their DB using EM or QA resolved it by doing "this or that", I did exactly the same "this or that" on my computer/config and it didn't resolve my problem. :(

What am I doing wrong? I can't connect to my database from my personal computer :(

I have never used enterprise manager before, so I don't know if it is a problem on my personal computer or on my sql server address on internet.. Is there anyway to find a free test ms sql database with like 1mb just to try and find out if I can connect to a sql database at all using EM or if the problem is here on my computer?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Xande

The AcquireConnection Method Call To The Connection Manager &&"&&<Connection Name&&>&&" Failed With Error Code 0xC020200
Hi All,
I am getting the following error if I am using the package "Transaction Option=Required" while running through Sql Job:
The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "<connection name>" failed with error code 0xC0202009.

while I running the SSIS package on BI environment, I am getting the following error:
[Connection manager "<connection name>"] Error: The SSIS Runtime has failed to enlist the OLE DB connection in a distributed transaction with error 0x8004D00A "Unable to enlist in the transaction.".

I know the alternative solution is to make the "Transaction Option=Supported", but in my case I have run the whole flow in a single transaction. I came to know that this has been fixed in the service pack1(ref. to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914375). FYI.. some time it was running successful.

I have taken all the necessary step to run the SSIS package in a distributed transaction(like the steps for MSDTC) and also created the package flow in a sequence.

I was going through the link - http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=160340&SiteID=1 but all those didn't solve my problem.

If anyone can help me it will be great. or it is a bug in SSIS?

Thanks.

Can Not Aquire Connection From Connection Manager
Hi Everyone,

I am looking for some help, I have created a simple SSIS package that takes the contents of a view on the Server and outputs it to a delimited flat file.  This flat file is moved from its location on the server to our file print server.  This package uses a config file that contains the necessary passwords.  When run in the visual studio it runs without error.

However when run in a SQL Server Agent Job it fails on this step -
Code: 0xC020801C     Source: Data Flow Task GET DATA FROM LIVE [1]     Description: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER.  The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "ServerName.DBName.SQLServerAuth" fail.

I have researched the error and I have found that it doenst have the necessary permissions, however I have another package doing the same thing using the same config file that runs with error on a SQL Job.  I do not get why it would differ when the jobs are identical?

Any help would be appreciated.

Report Manager Cannot Connect To The ReportServer Service. And Other RS Problems.
I have installed Reporting Services on two systems now with no luck. I am beginning to think this software is too fragile to run in a production environment if it needs all of this tweaking under a standard install. We were thinking of moving away from Crystal, but now I am not so sure.

I can connect in SSMS. Comes up fine. I go into the config management tool for RS and everything looks fine. Green checks on all of the options. Virtual Directories both show the proper directories that are under the default WebSite in IIS and all pages appear to be in place. Databases are both in place and all credentials look fine.

In the Application Error Log I get Report Manager cannot connect to the ReportServer service.

My Config file looks like this (I have already tried adding http://localhost/reports to the URL section with no success)

SqlDMO Connect Error From Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM)
MOM connects to 19 instances without issue and fails on one (1).  The failing instance resides on a server with two(2) other instances that do not fail.  Security is setup the same on windows and sqlserver.

Receiving error in MOM:
"Could not connect using SQLDMO to SQL Instance WEB. However, the instance is currently running."

Presents in Event Viewer as:
"18452: Login failed for user '(null)'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection."

Troubleshooting so far:
Created simple SqlDMO VBScript that uses a trusted connection. This works fine from my desktop to all twenty (20) instances yet fails on the one server that MOM is running on.

Any ideas?

Access Connection

create a new Connection Manager by right-clicking in the Connection Managers section of the design area of the screen. Select New OLE DB Connection to bring up the Configure OLE DB Connection Manager dialog box. Click New to open the Connection Manager. In the Provider drop-down list, choose the Microsoft Jet 4.0 OLE DB Provider and click OK.
Browse to the Access database file and connection set up---all good!!!

Dataflow task
Add an OLE DB Source component
Double-click the icon to open the OLE DB Source Editor. Set the OLE DB Connection Manager property to the Connection Manager that I  created . Select Table from the Data Access Mode drop-down list.
I cannot see the tables set up as set up as pass-through table types to a Oracle 9i db

Connection Manager Not Showing &&"New Connection From Data Source...&&"
Hello,

I've created a SSIS Solution and have created Data Sources.  I have two packages.  One was created before the Data Sources, and one was created after.  The package that was created after is using connections from the Data Sources.  I want to change the package before the Data Soruces were created to use them, but when I right click in the Connection Managers pane "New Connection From Data Source.." is not an option.

Did I not add it to the Solution properly?

How do I get it to show?

Did I not refresh something?

Please provide the how if you figure it out.

Thanks

Connection Manager
I am using a connection manager defined as a '.Net ProvidersSqlClient Data Provider'

I choose the .net form since it has the ability to return multiple result sets.
However, when I set the Advanced 'MultipleActiveResultsSets' to True and check OK,
it doesn't save the setting.

This setting is available under the 'All' window, when you add the Connection Manager.

Any clues as to why this feature isn't functional?  Or is this a known bug?

I am piping this into a DataConversion Task

Connection Manager Questino
I know this is a dumb question, but what exactly does connection manager do in SQL Server 2005?  If it works like I think it does, then it sets up BI packages on the servers that it creates a connection to.  However, if my computer goes down, are these packages lost to the server?

-Thank you in advance.

WMI Connection Manager Question
I am using an expression for the connection string property on a WMI Connection Manager so that I can loop through all my boxes and find all the patches that have been applied and put this data into a central repository.  Every time I build the package it gives me a Package Validation Error and complains about putting an expression on the ConnectionString property and that can not be done but the expression was parsed out properly.  My question is can you make the connection string for a WMI Connection Manager dynamic?  I do this all the time on ODBC and ADO.NET connection managers in order to loop through my boxes.

Here is the error:

Error at GetPatches: The result of the expression "@[CONNECTIONSTRING::CONSTRING]" on property "ConnectionString" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the property.

Thanks,
