Default Value Or Value Provided For The Report Parameter Is Not A Valid Value.
My report has a drop-down list which will be used to filter the process name.
I create new dataset "PackageName" in my report using below query.
select distinct process_package_name
from [Work Breakdown Element Map] AS wbemap
WHERE (wbemap.project_name =@Project)
Then, I set process_package_name from the PackageName dataset to ProcessName variable as an Available values and Default Values .
After that, set filter
=Fields!process_package_name.Value In =Parameters!ProcessName.Value
I pack this report to my process template and create new team project using this process template.
After I create some new instances and force the Warehouse to update by run the WebService.
The report also found the new process name (They shows in the drop-down list) but the detail of report is not show.
Default value or value provided for the report parameter 'ProcessName' is not a valid value. (rsInvalidReportParameter)
I test and it work in the report project but it does not work in the real project.
I've got a report model I am trying to move from a development server to a production server. I published it to my development RS, exported the SMDL file, then uploaded it to the production server. At that point, I tried assigning the data source to the model and got the error:
I have a report parameter StartDateTime. I set the default value to Now(). When I go to preview, the StartDateTime parameter is empty and its been locked. I am not even able to set it to different value in preview.
Can anyone help me how to set the datetime parameter to default value(Now).
I have a stored procedure which takes StartDateTime parameter. Whenever the report refreshes using autorefresh interval, the startdatetime should default to Now. Right now the startdatetime defaults to whatever the value is there before i hit view report. how to do that using stored procedure.
So far so good. I want to send this report by email everyday, so I need to set these parameters as a default value. This is where I run into problems.
When I add any of these parameters I get the following error "The restrictions by the CONSTRAINED flag in the STRTOSET function were violated". This problem occur when I choose NON-queried under Report->Report Parameters, and set a default value for THISYEAR under DEFAULT VALUES
I have a basic SSRS report against an SSAS database with a "start date" parameter. I want to set the default value of that date parameter to Today's date. What is the easiest way to do this? I have no problem doing it against a relational source, just haven't done it against an OLAP source.
Does sombody have experience on dynamically set or change the default value of a report parameter?
Assuming: report parameters p1, p2, p3, p4 have been set up(and have their default value 'all') with the creation of the report1; report browseing is through reportviewer that embedded in the web application; datasource is datacube
What I want to do: based on the login user of the my web application, set default value of p1 as the user's username.
What I did is:
Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportParameter reportParam = new Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.ReportParameter("P1","Mary");
Dataset "FromTimeDimension" is a report parameter and has values (yyyymm)= 200601,200602,200603,2000604....... I would like to always have the default for this parameter to always be the latest month...ie November is the most recent month in our cube, so I would want the parameter to default to "200611". However, when I try to use the "last" function, the error says that aggregate function cannot be used.
I have a report which will one day display some data from an analysis services cube. my first step is to create a drop down parameter enabling the user to choose the date. I'd like to display only dates that have data, and I'd like it to default to today.
So I've created a dataset that will be the datasource for the dropdown displaying the available non-empty dates, which works fine.
SELECT measures.turnover ON COLUMNS,
nonempty([TBL DIM DATE].[DATE_ONLY].[DATE_ONLY].ALLMEMBERS ) ON ROWS
FROM [Itdev1 Hk]
I've also set the report parameter up to be a queried paramter, and to use the above dataset as it source, with [DATE_ONLY] displayed. and [DATE_ONLY] as the value.
Now, how do I get it to default to the last valid member in the list?
Adding a value to a non-queried default report parameter value does not update on the target server after deployment.
1. Create a report in Visual Studio and add a report parameter with the following properties:
Multi-value is checked Available values = "From Query" Dataset = [create a dataset that returns a table w/ a Id and Description column] Value field = [the Id field from the table] Label field=[the Description column from the table] Default values = "Non-queried" (add several values the match the IDs from the table so that some of the values in the report dropdown will show up as checked when rendering the report)
2. Build and deploy the report to the reporting server. View the report and verify the specified items are checked in the report parameter.
3. Go back to Visual Studio and add a value to the Non-queried Default values.
4. Build and deploy the report again. View the report. The newly added item is not selected.
I verified that the newly added ID exists in the rdl file (as xml) on both the development box and the server where the report was deployed. However, when I view the report parameter using Management Studio (connect to the reporting server), the newly added value for the report parameter does not exist. I verified that changes are being deployed by adding new parameters and changing other properties of the parameter. I thought maybe the rdl itself was being cached somehow - I tried restarting IIS, SQL Server, and SQL Reporting services. None worked. Note that running the report on the development box by running the project through Visual Studio DOES reflect the change to the parameter.
1. Create a dataset for the report that returns a table of the Ids that you want pre-selected. The query could be something like this:
SELECT '4' AS SelectedId UNION SELECT '5' AS SelectedId UNION SELECT '6' AS SelectedId
2. Delete the report in Management Studio, then redeploy.
I have issue w/ both workarounds because for 1) it is not intuitive and you have to remember to do this for every similar case, and 2) this extra step has to occur each time the report is deployed w/ changes to the report parameter.
Hi, Please help me with an SQL Query that fetches all the records from the three tables but a unique record for each forum and topicid with the maximum lastpostdate. I have to bind the result to a GridView. Please provide separate solutions for SqlServer2000/2005. I have three tables namely – Forums,Topics and Threads in SQL Server2000 (scripts for table creation and insertion of test data given at the end). Now, I have formulated a query as below :- SELECT ALL f.forumid,t.topicid,t.name,th.author,th.lastpostdate,(select count(threadid) from threads where topicid=t.topicid) as NoOfThreads FROM Forums f FULL JOIN Topics t ON f.forumid=t.forumid FULL JOIN Threads th ON t.topicid=th.topicid GROUP BY t.topicid,f.forumid,t.name,th.author,th.lastpostdate ORDER BY t.topicid ASC,th.lastpostdate DESC Whose result set is as below:-
forumid topicid name author lastpostdate NoOfThreads
5 17 General NULL NULL 0 On modifying the query to:- SELECT ALL f.forumid,t.topicid,t.name,th.author,th.lastpostdate,(select count(threadid) from threads where topicid=t.topicid) as NoOfThreads FROM Forums f FULL JOIN Topics t ON f.forumid=t.forumid FULL JOIN Threads th ON t.topicid=th.topicid GROUP BY t.topicid,f.forumid,t.name,th.author,th.lastpostdate HAVING th.lastpostdate=(select max(lastpostdate)from threads where topicid=t.topicid) ORDER BY t.topicid ASC,th.lastpostdate DESC I get the result set as below:-
forumid topicid name author lastpostdate NoOfThreads
I have my stored procedure set to Territory_code IN (@Territory)
, now , how do i enter in more then one value. When i select the multi value check box, it gives me more spaces. But then doesnt recognize the values when i put in more then one. am i doing something wrong?
I am deploying an rdl that is being deployed in a server. But i am encountering a problem regarding the valid values of the parameter. My parameters have dependencies, and one of my parameter comes out with two dependencies.
Scenario : User needs to input his userID to access Book A. Book B needs Book A because the output will be depending on the its content. And Book C depend on Book B.
Problem: when deploying, only Book A will have the initial value. The dependency in Book B is only one, which is fine.It shows its valid values. But how about for Book C which have 2 dependencies? Because it doesnt show it's valid values..
Hello, I have something like 100 regular subscriptions. It sometimes happen that one of the subscriptions suddenly stop to work with error "The subscription contains parameter values that are not valid". Example, one report has a dozen subscriptions, one of them stop to work. I look into the subscription and see that either one of the parameters is no longer set to a value or see nothing special besides the warning at the top of the subscription page. Parameters are all set to either default or some value(s). I reset one of the parameters, validate, or simply validate with no change and it works again. Next time, in one or three weeks another subscription will fail, I will reset it. Sometimes there are no errors, sometimes just 1 error and sometimes multiple errors accross reports or sometimes one report will suddenly have a few errors. Right now, I use a weekly report to warn me after the fact of what were last week errors if any (no data, parameters unvalid, etc). It looks like it happen with strings parameters based on datasets like "Sales offices" by example, where value and label are the same. Note that sales offices are by nature very stable, we do not change the spelling nor add remove entries. The list being a dataset gets rebuild, just to make sure we do not miss any eventual new sales office but if there is a new sales office, no one had a chance to select it as parameter value before it is in the dataset. I am really not sure what is going on, were parameters values changed in the metadata? I do not think so. Anyways, Is there a way to get an early warning instead of an after the fact error warning? Is there anything else I coud try to "Refresh" or "remap" parameters values to avoid these errors? When the subscription was created by a business analyst, If the parameters becomes blank, I have a hard time figuring out what it was when it was still valid. Is there any way to have a list of parameters values and have these values automatically "re-selected" by report server when the value gets lost? This is not a big problem however it is annoying and people will have a bad perception of the system quality. "I created a subscription for Sacramento and never got my report", some people will also introduce garbage because they will create a new subscription instead of fixing the broken one, then they may eventually get twice the same report. Any thought, does anyone had the same problem?
We have a report server which has lots of reports. this particular report has 375 subscriptions and 80% of them are failing with the error "The subscription contains parameter values that are not valid." since last week nothing new was done on the server. when I open the properties of one of the subscriptions, one of the parameter value shows as a number where as it should be the name of a state.
Not sure what to do to get the subscriptions back.
I receive this error when I make a depolyment to our new server(virtual server). The report works fine in the report manager. In my application, I use RenderStream method to retrieve the images and embed in the webform. I googled it and found some people having the same issue because of the cookie, so they set 'UseSessionCookies' = false in the table ConfiurationInfo of ReportServer database. I tried this, but no luck.
Also, there is a hotfix from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913363. I have requested a copy, but not sure whehter it's gonna be helpful.
I have parameters in my report. The user can choose the year, month and date (3 parameters). Now I want to set default vaules for the parameters , so that the user sees the report for example for the current day without selecting the parameters. I tried to set the type of the parameters to DateTime and the default value for example for the year to "=Today().Year" . But when I execute the report an error occures . Something like : no validValue for this parameter.
My Attributes for the year month and date are from an Analyis Services Cube from a Server Time dimension . Does somebody know how to make it possible to set default values for this parameters?
Other question :
Does somebody know how I can reduce the values for a parameter. For Example I have a parameter "year" from a server time dimension from a cube. The values which are available are "Year 2004", "Year 2005", "Year 2006", "Year 2007". But I want that the user only can choose "Year 2006" or "Year 2007" ant not every Year or "All". Or Other Example: The User should only choose a Date that is int the past or Today but not a Date in the future.
I need "conditional" cascading parameters: In Report Manager when one changes parameter 1, parameter 2 get changed based on parameter 1. Optionally, one can also enter values to parameter 2 directly.
I was able to achieve this in SSRS 2000 (SP2) with the following setups. SSRS 2005 and SP1 no longer works - Parameter 2 always shows its default value regardless whether one select a value in Parameter 1 or not.
Parameter 1 available values: from query default values: non query (specify a value "<None>") Parameter 2 available values: Non query (no value specified) default values: from query (based on Parameter 1)
It seems to me that the default value in SSRS 2000 is considered as cascading parameter. But it is no longer the case in SSRS 2005.
Is this a SSRS 2005 bug? is there any other work arounds or suggestions?
I am having an issue with generating a table for an report on the fly. I have been referring to the example on www.gotreportviewer.com and their example works fine but when i attempt to do my own version (by adding the table, I get the following error:
The report definition is not valid. Details: The element 'TableColumns' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition' has incomplete content.
List of possible elements expected: 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition:TableColumn'.
From my understanding 'TableColumns' was not expected even though i reference it correctly in my code and I it is defined in the ReportDefinition. It also causes no problems for the example from the above website.
Iam using MATRIX format and i have 12 parameters with multiselection....now my problem is its very difficult to select each and every parameter every time..so i need to show all the parameters as DEFAULT ALL selected ..and at the same time i dont want to show the report when i click on preview....simply to say by default ALL should be selected but on clicking VIEW REPORT only the report should be shown...
I have a report parameter that may contain one item or it may contain more than one item. Is there a way I can default the parameter if it contains one item, to that item. But have no default if there is more than one option?
My dataset results are dynamic, based upon the user accessing the report. RS won't let me use First(field, "dataset") and it doesn't seem to automatically pick the first parameter value as the default.
My intention is to have the first value picked, and if no other parameters are needed, the report should generate right away.
I have a dataset that supplies a list of dates for my report parameter. When the dataset only returns 1 date I would like it to set it as the default. When there are 2 or more I want the user to select the date.
Is there a way to do this? From what I have tried it seems as though you either always set a default or not.
I have a dataset listing distinct values for items (like 1, D10, M4, etc.) The WHERE statement in my query refers to unit IN(@Unit). I then have 2 report parameters to select 1) a date (datetime); and 2) a multivalue parameter to select one or all of the "units". I would like the second parameter to default to "Select All". Can someone tell me how to do this? I'm sure this is a fairly simple thing but I am really struggling. The report parameter is set as multivalue; My "available values" is set to "from query" and refers to my "unit" dataset and the value and label fields are set to "unit" (only field I bring into this particular dataset). The "Default Values" section is set to "from query" , the dataset is set to "unit" and the value is set to "unit". I can preview the report and select a date but the list of units comes up with all boxes unchecked, including "Select All". Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
I had thought that this was possible but I can't seem to figure out the syntax. Essentially I have a report where one of the parameters is populated by a stored procedure.
Right now this is easily accomplished by using "exec <storedprocname>" as the query string for the report parameter. However I am not clear if it is possible to now incorporate User!UserID as parameter to the stored procedure. Is it? Thanks
Hi... need to default the customerId on a sub form. Insert string is: InsertCommand="INSERT INTO CustomerNotes(Note, CustomerID) VALUES (@Note,@KEY)" Parameter: <asp:Parameter Name="KEY" DefaultValue='123456789'/> Need to make the '123456789' the value of the request.querystring('ID") How is this done? Thanks in advance....
I am using a query to grab information about the parameters of stored procedures. I am trying to determine if a parameter has a default value. I have tried adding a default value to the parameter of the stored procedure, but the returned value of params.has_default_value stays at zero. What is going on?
Here's the query to pull the stored procedure information: SELECTprocs.name as ProcName, params.name as ParameterName, types.name as ParamType, params.max_length, params.precision, params.scale, params.is_output, params.has_default_value FROMsys.procedures procs LEFT OUTER JOINsys.all_parameters params ONprocs.object_id = params.object_id LEFT OUTER JOINsys.types types ONparams.system_type_id = types.system_type_id ANDparams.user_type_id = types.user_type_id WHEREprocs.is_ms_shipped = 0 ANDprocs.name = 'webservices_BENEFICIAL_USES_DM_SELECT' ORDER BYprocname, params.parameter_id
Here's the stored procedure: ALTER PROCEDURE [dbo].[webservices_BENEFICIAL_USES_DM_SELECT] -- Add the parameters for the stored procedure here @DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME_TYPE = 'a' AS BEGIN -- SET NOCOUNT ON added to prevent extra result sets from -- interfering with SELECT statements. SET NOCOUNT ON;
-- Insert statements for procedure here IF @DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME IS NULL BEGIN SELECT* FROMBENEFICIAL_USES_DM END ELSE BEGIN SELECT* FROMBENEFICIAL_USES_DM WHEREDISPOSAL_AREA_NAME = @DISPOSAL_AREA_NAME END
