Drill Through To Reports Located In Multiple Folders
Feb 28, 2008
Report A contains a textbox that should navigate to Report B using the Jump To option. Report A and Report B are located in separated folders on the Reporting Server.
SSRS looks for the rdl file within the same folder when using the Jump To option. Is there away to navigate to a report located in a different folder on the same server?
I am the administrator for our Reporting Services environment. I was researching the functionality of the My Reports feature of Reporting Services 2005. I enabled the My Reports feature and SSRS created folders to accomodate this feature. I then experimented with linked reports.
Now I want to undo this feature. I turned off the My Reports feature but the folders remain. The Report Manager refuses to delete them. I found their entries in the ReportServer.Catalog table but don't want to just delete them.
Does anyone know how to remove these folders from the Report Manager?
Hi, I am a new user for RS so this might be a very dump question for some of the advanced users here.
I am using SQL 2005 RS and was wondering how I can deploy reports to specific folders that I created on the Reports page. I do know that I can go to Properties to move the reports to different folders. But the problem I have is when I deploy the reports from VS 2005 ( I created the reports using VS 2005) they were deployed back to the old/root folder. How can I change the 'deploy-to' destination folder for the reports in VS 2005?

Hi All, Am new to Reporting Services. I need to create some drill down reports. Am unable to find any guidance or tutorials. Anyone please help me to create drill down reports
Hi all, Am new to SQL Server Reporting services. I need to create some Drill down reports. Am unable to find any guidance or tutorials for that. Please help me to create variety of drill down reports.
How do I drill through to a report from a report that's in a different directory? In the designer I can only drill through to reports that are in that project. I'm sure that there is a simple solution (hopefully!).
I've been able to insert a graph in my reports which automatically allow drill down (into the graph). This has stopped working on new reports and I can't see why, or how to allow drill down (in graphs) again. Anyone help? I'm using Crystal Developer Ver9.2. Thanks

When i try to drill in a report that have images.
The weird is that i only have this error when i view this report in ReportViewer in a .aspx page. When i try to enter in this report directly by using the ReportServer ( http://server/Reports ) i dont have this error.
In the sharepoint site from the main report when i go to my drill down report i see no back button, Is there a way to provide back button in the toolbar. I dont want to use the page back button. or is there any way by which if i click for my drill down report the report will be opened in a new window?
I am wondering if we can drill down reports in a different page with different layouts and columns? e.g. I have too many columns desired to see in a report, so I want to direct the users to another page with different layouts and columns, so the first view in the report wont display so many columns in a page. Is it possible to make it in SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services? And if it is possible then how? Hope my question is clear for your help.
Thanks a lot in advance and I am looking forward to hearing from you.
I have a drill down report and would like to add interactive sort on two columns:- column 1 & column 2. These two columns should be in descending order. By adding this, when user's click on column 1 they will see the data based on the sorted order. Does anyone help me on this issue.

When I drill-through the report and hit the (browser) back button and try to drill-trough again I get the following error:
The path of the item "(null)" is not valid. The path must be less than 260 characters long and must start with slash. Other restrictions apply. (rsInvalidItemPath)
When I hit back again and try to export the report to eg. PDF, I get this error: Execution 'mly2yj555oen0o45oowe1e55' cannot be found

Drill through bar charts work great in the report designer preview, but as soon as I deploy the report, and view the report in a webpage, drill through does not work smoothly.
I have to move the mouse around to be able to find a place on the bar to click through to the next report. Sometimes, I am able to click on the bar to go to next report, but then sometimes I have to click on the label, and other times somewhere in the vicinity of the label.
If I run the below command, it clean up the files inside the folders but unable to clean up the folder and sub-folders older than 30 days. xp_ cmd shell ' forfiles -p "D:abcd" -s -m *.* -d -30 -c "cmd /c del /Q @path"'
Hello - I am having difficulty enabling the automatic click-through functionality for my model. I have two entities - Customer & Incident. Incident is a role/FK/OptionalMany relationship to customer.
I've read through earlier postings on this subject (below) and have verified that the #Incidents attribute in my incident entity has the EnableDrillThrough=true.
My test report is simple - Customer Name (from customer) and #Incidents (from incident). When I run it, the click-through option is not available (the cursor stays as an arrow and doesn't change to a finger).
Are there other properties or settings that I need to be working with? I have SP2 (9.0.3042) installed on our Standard edition of SQL 2005. I know Infinite Click-Through is not in Std edition, but a few levels should be, correct?
I am using Report Builder 3.0 and i have report which has a drill down group. The report opens in a collapsed form. This report has interactive sorting on a column. But,when we drill down and sort the column, the group collapses and the details disappear.
In some posts, i have seen that instead of interactive sorting, people recommended a parameter. But i have to do interactive sorting only.
Hi, Is there a possible way to create multiple folders in a report project so that different reports can be categorized and arranged in separate folders. Apparently, it seems not. Is there a workaround?

When I migrated this code to SSIS, its not working. How can I achive this functionality in SSIS. Any one pls help me.
I'm using sp_OACreate in a scalar function to create a folder if it doesn't exist, and it works fine if you're asking it to create a single folder. For instance: C:Newfolder
It creates "Newfolder"
However, if I try to ask it to create C:NewfolderNewsubfolder
It doesn't work
Here's the code:
DECLARE @Exists int, @ObjFile int, @ObjFileSystem int, @Folder nvarchar(500) = 'C:', @Action tinyint = 1 --(0 to check if folder exists, 1 to actually create it)
we have a requirement that, when we click on the multiple series bars in a SSRS chart, it should drill through that chart and the detail report should filter based on these x axis and y axis of the bars selected.
As far as my knowledge, we can drill through the chart by selecting single series bar at a time in SSRS. Is there any way to acheive this multiple drill through of a chart.
I am trying to create a report using Reporting Services.
My problem right now is that the way the table is constructed, I am trying to pull 3 seperate values i.e. One is the number of Hours, One is the type of work, and the 3rd is the Grade, out of one column and place them in 3 seperate columns in the report.
I can currently get one value but how to get the information I need to be able to use in my reports.
So far what I've been working with SQL Reporting Services 2005 I love it and have made several reports, but this one has got me stumped.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I might not have made my problem quite clear enough. My table has one column labeled value. The value in that table is linked through an ID field to another table where the ID's are broken down to one ID =Number of Hours, One ID = Grade and One ID= type of work.
What I'm trying to do is when using these ID's and seperate the value related to those ID's into 3 seperate columns in a query for using in Reporting Services to create the report
As you can see, I'm attempting to change the name of the same column 3 times to reflect the correct information and then link them all to the person, where one person might have several entries in the other fields.
As you can see I can change the names individually in queries and pull the information seperately, it's when roll them altogether is where I'm running into my problem
Thanks for the suggestions that were made, I apoligize for not making the problem clearer.
Here is a copy of what I'm attempting to accomplish. I didn't have it with me last night when posting.
--Pulls the Service Opportunity
SELECT cs.value AS "Service Opportunity"
FROM Cstudent cs
INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid = cs.attributeid
WHERE ca.name = 'Service Opportunity'
--Pulls the Number of Hours
SELECT cs.value AS 'Number of Hours'
FROM Cstudent cs
INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid =cs.attributeid
WHERE ca.name ='Num of Hours'
--Pulls the Person Grade Level
SELECT cs.value AS 'Grade'
FROM Cstudent cs
INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid =cs.attributeid
WHERE ca.name ='Grade'
--Pulls the Person Number, First and Last Name and Grade Level
SELECT s.personnumber, s.lastname, s.firstname, cs.value as "Grade"
FROM student s
INNER JOIN cperson cs ON cs.personid = s.personid
INNER JOIN cattribute ca ON ca.attributeid = cs.attributeid
WHERE cs.value =(SELECT cs.value AS 'Grade'
WHERE ca.attributeid = cs.attributeid AND ca.name='Grade')
How do I display a bar graph in my main report? I dont want it to be displayed on separate page. When I click on some entities on my main report, a graph should be popped up in the same report in some corner? how do I do that ? Please let me know.
I have created a report that everyone is happy with. My dataset (simplified) looks like this: SELECT * FROM FamilyMember WHERE QuestionnaireID = @QuestionnaireID
Now, instead of running individual reports the users want to run several reports on a list of QuestionnaireID's. I thought something like this would work: SELECT * FROM FamilyMember WHERE QuestionnaireID IN (@QuestionnaireID) but RS complains about converting '152,153' to an INT.
Is there a way to accomplish this? I am guessing I need to convert the nvarchar @QuestionnaireID to a real list of INTs but am unsure how to do this...
HI, i am a new to SSRS and i am facing a problem with Ad Hoc reporting. actually i wanted to create a report with data from two different table. now its the relation between these two tables that is not allowing me to create a req. adhoc report.
i want the report to have data from table A and table B and the relationship between A and B is many-to-many. so in the database design i have an associate table C between A and B. so in .dsv file i have C related to A as one-to-many and C related to B as one to many.
Now here how do i get data from both table A and table B?
I have a report that I pass parameters of a clientID. I run the report and export it to a .pdf file. I would like to be able to do this for multiple clients without manually having to enter the ID each time and exporting it.
I have thought about creating a report that calls this report so that I can pass in the clientID one at a time. The problem is trying to export each one.
