I need some help. I am writing a report in SSRS 2005 that I then need to export to Excel. When I put a report header I would expect the header to not display in the Excel spreadsheet until the Print Preview or the Print. The report footer works just fine I put some text in the footer, and it shows up in the footer. The header though, shows up as a row in the Excel spreadsheet that then causes columns to merge. How do I get the report header to act like a page header?
I have a report that the users reach from an url. In the url I have rc:parameters = false. That part works fine. But when I use rc:parameters = false, the property fixed header doesn't seem to work. If I run the report from the report server it works fine, but not from the url.
I have a table in a report which has the FixedHeader property set to true. What happens is that when I try to look for a text using the find option, the found text gets hidden under the header row, which then I have scroll back to see that. The user may think that the text was not found. Any solution to be able to bring the found item to somewhere the user can see?
How to add a link to the child report in the page header section of a report in SSRS 2005 ?Basically I want a link to the child report which should appear on all the pages of the report if the report has multiple pages.
I am using the fixed header functionality in reporting services (SS2005) to keep the 3 left-hand-most columns of a table always visible as my report scrolls to the right. To do this I set the "fixed header" value for those columns to true.
My problem is that some of the group headers resize as I scroll to the right - everything looks normal before I start scrolling, but immediately as I move the scrollbar, some of my group headers grow (row height increases), throwing the headers out of line with the data row in the columns that aren't fixed.
It seems it's only certain headers that grow - they alternate between growing and normal size. I can't find any differences in the properties of the textboxes between those whose height increases and those that don't.
I have tried setting the CanGrow property in the relevant textboxes to false, to cater for the possibility that something might be trying to wrap - that didn't make any difference (which is what I expected, seeing as the text is never wider than the textbox width).
Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem might be?
I have 2 tables in a report and have set the FixedHeader property of the 3 left columns on both tables to True. The report displays perfectly when previewing, but when deployed and viewed in IE6 fixes only the columns from the first table (all columns from 2nd table display, but the 3 columns with FixedHeader set to true scroll out of view when report is scrolled right) and additionally displays an error.
Error: Line: 13 Char: 1080 Error: 'children.0.children.0.children.1.children' is null or not an object Code: 0 URL : <URL of report displayed here>
Possible additional points of interest. 1)There are some groupings in the second table which are initially hidden and toggled by cells in the 1st or 2nd column of the table. These 2 columns are the first 2 of the 3 columns having FixedHeader set to True. 2)If the 1st table is moved physically to below the 2nd table, FixedHeader fails on both tables.
Is there something that I've set up incorrectly? Any help is appreciated.
I have several row groups in a tablix. I want to keep header visible through scrolling.and i also want the first row group to visible, only the first.
So I set the first row group's properties fixedData to TRUE and keep other row groups to FALSE then when running the report i got error "FixedData is not allowed in row TablixMember, unless it is also set on the first row TablixMember"
Now I think this is not possible. or is there anyway to make it works?
I'm trying to extract data from a Flat File which is as fixed length as they come. The file has a header, which simply contains the number of records in the file, followed by the records, with no header delimeter (No CR/LF, nothing).
For example a file would look like the following:
00000003Name1Address1Name2Address2Name3Address3
So this has 3 records (indicated by the first 8 characters), each consisting of a Name and Address.
I can't see a way to extract the data using a flat file connection, unless we add a delimeter for the header (not possible at this stage). Am I wrong?
Any suggestions on possible solution would be much appreciated - I'm thinking Ill have to write a script to parse the file manually.
I have a tablix report (SSRS 2008) when I render it in excel my client always need to see the row headers as fixed one i.e when he/she scrolls report from row 20 scrolling should begin and always want to see first 20 row and next should be scrolling. Is this possible.
Hi-I have a sql database (2005) that I need to extract a report from that looks somehintg like SELECT * From Empl_Hours WHERE some_flag <> 'true' .The thing works fine, but the problem is this: I need to insert a record in the 1st row that looks like "Static_text"+row_count() +"more_static_text"where row_count is the actual # of rows that were retrieved. Thanks in advance for any help.DAn
I have a report with a fixed header that works properly when the query returns results (or fixedheader = false). However, when the result set is empty, I get tenacious client-side "object required" errors. Obviously I can either turn the fixedheaders off or disable debugging in IE, but is there a Microsoft fix for this problem?
I am trying to find a way to fix the size of a table in SSRS so that it would not push any items underneath it when it grows, due to multi-row data set.
I have set the canGrow = false property of all the text boxes in the table, but this did not help.
Does anyone know if it is possible to force a fixed size of the table and how it is done?
Hi All, I have created a report. In page header of this report, I have added Ver#, ID# and Page number on the top right corner. But when I view the report, it comes correctly in the first page and in all remaining pages, it is shifted towards left. I can€™t figure out why it is coming so. It looks very weird for me.
I have an SSRS report I'm working on. Â I have Row Groups plus details.
A) Â How can I get the row group headers to repeat on every line? B) I would still like to use the drill down, click the plus sign, and have that work when I export to excel.
Here is the report header: URL....My first thought was is there a way simply to cause the header to repeat. Â I cannot find that anywhere to do that.My second though was to split the cells and copy the fields to all the rows. Here is the same header with split cells:URL....two problems.
A) I cannot split one cell; See the "X" in the second capture. B) How do I still hid the rows until I drill down.
I am using SSRS 2012 RC0 in Visual Studio 2010 sp1 to build this tabular report. I had inadvertently removed the initial header row from my tablix before adding numerous nested groupings to move the column headers to the header section so they would show up on each page.
I would like to reverse that decision, but I seem to be unable to now re-add that header row back to my tablix. In older versions of SSRS, I was able to right click on the table and then click on insert row-->Header row but that does not seem to be possible in ssrs 2012.. I tried adding a outer row to my top most grouping, but that option was grayed out.
I have a SSRS report developed in SQL 2012. When I exporting the report into word the back ground colour of page header missing. When Exporting to PDF and Excel page header BG colour showing.
I has developed one report in SSRS in SSRS 2008 R2 and when I preview the report in report viewer in all pages Report Header is repeating, whereas when I export the same report to PDF strange for some pages header is missing.
When I searched in google for SSRS 2008 Microsoft agreed that it is a bug and they provided the hotfix. And this hotfix is not working for SSRS 2008 R2 as it is a higher edition but still I facing the same issue.
I have a table with 3 columns (ID Int , Name Varchar(25), Course Varchar(20))
My source data looks like below
ID     Name       Course 1       A              Java 1       A              C++ 2       B               Java 2       B              SQL Server 2       B               .Net 2       B                SAP 3       C                Oracle
My Output should look like below...
ID     Name      Course(1)    Course(2)        Course(3)    Course(4) Â
1       A                Java           C++ 2       B                Java           SQL Server .Net            SAP 3       C                Oracle
Basically need t-sql to Convert non fixed rows to non fixed columns...
Rule: IF each ID and Name have more than 1 course then show it in new columns as course(1) course(2)..Course(n)
Create SQL:
Create table Sample (ID Int null , Name Varchar(25) null, Course Varchar(20) null)
Insert SQL:
INSERT Sample (ID, Name, Course) Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â VALUES (1,'A','Java'), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â (1,'A','C++'), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â (2,'B','Java'), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â (2,'B','SQL Server'), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â (2,'B','.Net'), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â (2,'B','SAP'), Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â (3,'C','Oracle')
For the past couple of days I've been having an issue with Reporting Services. From what I can understand reporting services doesn't work well when exporting to word.
The scenario is quite simple, I am developing a report for a client with a 'master page', which works as the cover, and executes 2 sub-reports with one table each, nothing fancy. We don't export this report to pdf, because the internal client has to attach another report that is impossible to automate, so they generate that report via excel and integrate it on our word document before sending the document to their business partners.
Our main problem is that we can't export the header/footers to word.
How to show the CurrentMonthanddateandyear in my report header in ssrs?
1.How to show the currentdateandMonthyear exmple date format like June 29 2015 on my report header.
2.How to change the report rdl name with the same name like EmpUpdatedreportJune 29 2015.rdl ,it is possible to create and change the rdl file name with the current dateandmonth.
How to display the logo in middle of report header , The logo is embedded in the Image folder . The column of the report  are static. we are using SSRS 2008
Does anyone know of a link or list that has all the parameters for the "rs:" section of the URL access parameter, except for the ones in the Microsoft books?
I am sorry, I am posting this message again, since I did not get anyreply.I want to export a table into a "fixed width" file using SQL 2005import export wizard. This is the version I have:SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.2047.00For some reason it joins all the rows together. For EX: if the tableis like this:Create table Mytable (col1 varchar(50) null, col2 varchar(60) null,col3 varchar (100) Null)Insert into MyTable values ("abcdef", "12345", "8900")Insert into MyTable values ("xxxxxxx", "11111111", "22222222")Insert into MyTable values ("yyyyyyyyy", "5555555555555555","6666666666")Insert into MyTable values ("abcdef", "12345", "8900")Insert into MyTable values ("xxxxxxx", "11111111", "22222222")Insert into MyTable values ("yyyyyyyyy", "5555555555555555","6666666666")It is not exporting every row in a single line. Actually if I open itin "Ultra Edit", it is all in one line.I used to do this regularly with SQL 2000 import export wizard and itexported every row in one line.I looked at the setting:The header row delimiter has {CR}{LF}Code page has 1252 Ansi-Latin.In the Advanced tab:String:dt_str.I tried changing the header row delimiter to just {CR} or just {LF}.Also I tried changing the string to dt_text and nothing seems to help. Please help.Thank you

Is it possible to write SSRS 2008 reports to run on an existing SSRS 2005 server?
If yes, what do I need to do to be able to write SSRS 2008 reports on my developer PC that will run on the SQL 2005 Server (which also has SSRS 2005 installed on it)?
I installed Visual Studio 2008 beta on the development PC and it appears that it needs SSRS installed on it too. So I installed SQL 2008 SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) and SQL 2008 Workstation Components onto the developer PC. Next I run the SQL 2008 "Reporting Services Configuration" tool. When I click on the "Web Service URL" section it hangs indefinitely and I have to force it closed.
The developer PC is Windows Vista Business.
Any suggestions on making this work, or any other information that you can think of that would allow me to use Visual Studio 2008 and the SQL 2008 "Report Designer Preview" tool to develop SSRS reports that will run on the SQL 2005 SSRS server?
I can't use DTS nor DTSwizard as I need to put it in a .sql and run it through a command line via .bat file (it's more for the users).
Each row ends with an EOL character, the fields are all fixed width, but I have a little problem here, some rows are empty but just with a EOL character.
I am making a book-like report, I am using a report that has a header and calling a sub-report that has it's own header. However the sub-report header is not showing on the parent report. Parent report header is prevailing over the sub-report. Is it possible to have both headers displaying?
