How To Deploy Reports To Production Server, Do I Need To Have Sql Server Reporting Services Installed Or Just Runtime Files Ok
Apr 23, 2008
I would like to deploy several reports to production server, Do i need to install reporting services entire software in order to run the reports or is it possible to just have runtime files installed on it to run the reports.
please help, i have almost 100 reports to be deployed on this server which is located in other country.
Thanks for the helpful information.
(i am using SQL server 2005 / reporting services 2005.)
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer)
I have converted the VS 2013 WinForm project to VS 2015. Once I installed it on client, report viewer is asking for Microsoft.ReportViewer.WinForms 12.0.0.0.With VS 2013 projects Report Viewer 2012 Runtime worked fine. I haven't been able to locate anywhere newer version of Report Viewer Runtime/
I want to run the Reports on a system that has Oracle Database but reporting Services are not installed there. Only Application exe file will be there designed in .NET Windows Forms.
Is there a known problem with BIS Deploy not clearing cache. I repeatly (but not always) have an issue where I will do a BIS Deploy of an RDL but when I run it, the old report runs. I can't clear this out until I explicitly log into the Report Manager and explicitly delete the RDL and re-deploy from the BIS.
Is there a workaround, fix, process change, configuration change I can do to keep this from happening?
So I get the basics, have a script that can deploy a single report to a single server. I have other simple scripts that work as well. Now I want a script that can deploy a single report to multiple Sharepoint servers. I have about 30. I know we are probably doing this wrong, as in, we shouldn't be deploying the same report to 30 sites, as they are all all technically all on the same server however they are all independent site collections so as far as I know there is no way to deploy them to a central location and then link to them from each site.
So I tried to copy elements of my single report deploy script and duplicate the Sub Main() to Sub Main1() and Sub Main2() with multiple "ParentPath1" dims, yes I know I'm stupid. That obviously didn't work. So looking at some other scripts including my own subscription updater and I'm sure I need to do some kind of "For Each item in X" but where to start. The other lists I've seen all come from rs.Something. My list is just 30 variables in the script, how can I say for each site in this list, Publish this report?
Here's the simple script that works fine. I just don't know how to modify it to make it deploy this to multiple sites. After I figure that out, I was going to accept the challenge of deploying multiple reports to multiple sites in a single script...
Dim warnings As Warning() = Nothing Dim parentFolder As String = "Reports" Dim filePath As String = "filepath" Dim reportName As String = "Report file name" Dim parentPath As String = "Sharepoint site URL" Public Sub Main()
Hello SQL Server Experts, Data Analysts, and Report Writers et al:
re: Reporting Options with SQL Server
I wanted to propose an offshoot to the pryor thread:
Would anyone take a stab at comparing Access Reports, Crystal Reports, Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting or presentation of the end report product?
Thank you to all, and I hope this is a beneficial discussion to others.
I have SQL 2005 reporting services installed and running, however I do not have the BI dev studio installed and cannot figure out how to get it installed.
The report server is operating correctly since I have developed reports on another pc using VS 2005 and uploaded them to the server.
How do I get the BI dev studio installed on the server?
I built a SSIS(writing out to a flat file ) in 32 bit machine and it woks fine . But however when I deploy to the produciton server(64 bit) the SSIS writes out garbage data . After some research I found out that the problem with the 32 bit OS and 64 bit OS problem. What is my next step. Am I out of luck that now I will have to redesing the SSIS in 64 bit?
I am new to SSRS. I have installed Reporting services and configured the report server. But i keep getting error messages when i try to deploy the report. I am not able to see the report in SSMS either. The error says it is not able to connect to the report server. Could anyone please help me? It is quite urgent
My question is How to automate the standards reports which sql server provides can be done.for example I want to send Dashboard report to my email automatically on scheduled time.
I need to deploy reports to a server in Spain, which I do not have direct access to. Is there any way that I can simply deploy the reports to a server here, that I have access to, and then copy the reports to the server in Spain??? Or is there any other way? I cannot expect the customers in Spain to be able to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 themselves to deploy reports (they do not even have access to the tool).

How do I set up reporting services on a clustered server? I have configured reporting services on both clusters, but somehow I cannot initialize both of them. Only on will be initialized at a time. Does anyone have experience with this?
i need help with deployment of reports (SSRS 2005). we need to deploy many reports (more then 100) on the production everytime we make changes in them.
"the problem is we cannot install visual studio on the server to open the project and use the deploy option from it" i tried using the script - PublishSampleReports.rss
but everytime i run i need to go and manully configure the report to map the shared datasource to it. any way to pass the information in the script itself, or is there any smart way to deploy on production.
How can deploy Reporting Service 2005 runtime with VisualStudio 2005? The reason here goes...
I have completed my project in VS2005. Now I am trying to make package. But here, i do not know how to deploy Reporting Service (My Report files) to Customer's Server with Setup or any other runtime solution. thanks
I looked online and couldn't find anything to help me make this change. I want to change the default URL for reporting services to another url. Is this possible? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings) - Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories - Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database - Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService
When I open http://localhost/reports/, I get the following error:
I have check a bunch of forums, but have no success. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

I created a mdf file but couldnt for the life of me install it into SQL Sever Express [and when I say install i mean attach]. When I used SQL Server Ent, I had no issues. The only warning I got was that my mdf file was used by another process when I tried to attach with VS 2005 [ which is correct because ent had it]. I think mdf files are pretty touchy. Does anyone have any good articles on best practices? It seems you cant have a db with the same name as your attachment [ which would make sense] or have mdf files in the Data directory of your SQL Server instance you are trying to attach to. You will get the unc share error if you do. I think I need to start using user Instances but I could be wrong. You cant use them in ent but maybe i will solve my issue with attaching db files to express. I noticed that by default express doesnt install in mix auth mode and there might be some issues with access. How does everyone else normally install their mdf files for quick deployment [ say you want to deploy your db with your app so that users can quickly get started] ?
HI, can anybody help me? I have a problem. With the sqlserver 2005 sp2 some behavieur are differt from previous versions. For example with service pack 1 there isn't the "select all" option for multi value parameters, so i add MY select all, but with service pack 2 there is the "select all" option for multivalue paramteres, so when my reports are running under a server with service pack 2 in the list of multivalue parameter I'm going to find "Select all" and "MY select all" It is possible to know at runtime under which version my repors will be running? so I can use or not MY select all. (i cannot force client with a particular version)
When I try to put a new report in existing folder there's no problem, but now i have fresh installed Reporting Services and no Visual Studio2005. How do i open a new folder?
I have a server running Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2, SQL Server 2005 Enterprise SP2 (32 bit), and Visual Studio 2005 Enterprise (32 bit).
Did a full install of SQL, then followed with a full install of VS. What's weird is the reporting services portion of SQl appears to have been installed as a 64 bit instead of the 32, so now RS are not available.
Most of SQL shows up under the Program Files (x86) folder, but RS is in Program FilesMS SQL ServerMSSQL.3
Any know how I can pull the RS version out and get it to install correctly without an entire server rebuild as it is already in use?
The kicker comes when I tried to input the proper version again and it told me I needed ASP.net (32 bit) but when I tried to install it the dotnetfx.exe was not compatible. I have .Net Framework 2.0, and 3.5 loaded
I am creating an installer for the creation and deployment of reports and need to know whether Reporting Services is installed before allowing the installer to run.
Is there a simple way for me to find out? I know that I can look at various registry entries but I'm not sure which is the best. Is this the best way anyway, or is there some better way to tell if RS is installed?
I've recently installed Reporting Services 2005 on a Windows 2003 Server. Both have had SP2 applied and other necessary patches. I can't deploy a report from my desktop machine to the Reporting Instance. I get the following error:
=================================== A connection could not be made to the report server http://db04SSRS/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer) =================================== The request failed with HTTP status 503: Service Unavailable. (System.Web.Services) ------------------------------ Program Location: at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall) at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.Invoke(String methodName, Object[] parameters) at Microsoft.SqlServer.ReportingServices2006.ReportServiceAuthentication.GetAuthenticationMode() at Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Project.ReportServiceClient2006.CheckAuthenticated() at Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Project.ReportClientManager.DetectEndpointAndAuthenticate(String url, ICredentials credentials, String& authCookieName, Cookie& authCookie, EndpointType& endpointType) at Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Project.ReportClientManager.GetCredentials(String url) at Microsoft.ReportDesigner.Project.ReportProjectDeployer.PrepareDeploy()
Also, from SQL Server Management Studio while logged onto the Windows 2003 Server, I can connect using http://localhost/ReportServer, but I CAN NOT connect with just the servername db04SSRS. I can connect to the Analysis Services and the Database Engine with just the servername
I've seen several threads with similar issues, but none of the solutions have worked.
I am using vista, iis7 sql server 2005 sp2, vs 2005.
i first noticed that i could not deploy to the localhost server after upgrading to vista.
i installed sql server sp2 and configured the iis7 using the control panel. Everything i needed to check off got loaded exept the asp.net check box in the ApplicationDevelopmentFeatures subcategory under the iis configuration section.
It errored out when i clicked apply. there was no specific error just that it did not get added.
Controlpanel> Programs>T urnWindowsFeaturesOnAndOff> InternetInformationServices> WorldWideWebServices> ApplicationDevelopmentFeatures> Asp.net (check box)
When i click OK, afte a few minutes, i get a message:
"An error has occurred. Not all the features were successfully changed."
what good is iis7 if it cannot support asp.net?
I assume something is wrong. It is not permissions. I am the administrator account and i have assigned my account as the administrator for both sql server and reporting services.
I installed SQL Server 2005 SP2 recently. After that when I try to deploy a solution in SSRS 2005, I get a dialog box with title: "Reporting Services Login". It has my server listed as the first row: "http://localhost/reportserver" and then it has two text boxes asking for Username and Password.
I checked my IIS settings and only Integrated Security is checked for the Reports Server folder (and for the entire website). I tried to change that to Allow Anonymous Access = Checked, but still the same problem.
Hi All! I'm a newbie to SQL & have a question about Reporting Services. I have already installed SQL Express & now want to install Reporting Services. Is there a way to install just this feature or do I need to do a complete re-install? Thanks!
Would anyone here please guide me how can I check the version of reporting services installed? My problem is in my virtual machine, both SQL Server and SQL Server 2005 are installed, but I can create report in the vistual studio 2005 IDE, but cant deploy it to the reporting server database, in addition, I cant connect to reporting services database in SQL Server 2005 management studio.
Is it possible to install two different versions of reporting services in the same virtual machine? Please anyone here give me some advice for that. Thanks a lot.
