Even after setting the level to 3, no information is getting in log file.

Even after connecting using the serial cable and relay its not connecting, not getting the ‘BODY’ message in IE on HPC.

Pls. Help, Thanks in advance.

I get this error message when I try to connect to Reporting Services via the Management Studio.

I can see my machine listed in the Server Name > Browse For More > Local Servers dialogue. But no luck,

Ive tried:

Servername: localhost
Servername: DED1774 (the machine name)
Servername: localhost/reportserver
Servername: DED1774/reportserver
Servername: http://ded1774/reportserver (from the rsreportserver.config file

I've Googled the error message and found postings for solutions, but none of these helped. Can anyone suggest some simple steps I can take to try to find the issue and get the connection working?

The Request Failed With HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized.
Other postings I know have asked about this error message, but none has quite been my particular experience.

Using Visual Studio 2005 I have developed an aspx (.NET 2.0) web page, which has embedded in it, a Report Viewer object. Clicking a button calls the Reporting Services report and populates the Report Viewer object. This web-page works fine when run from Visual Studio.

Once deployed to the Web Server however, the web page produces the 401 error message.

I can also run the report fine, when running it directly from the Reporting Services Report Manager, so I know I have the proper permissions on RS itself - it fails only when I try calling the report from the ASP page.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike.

The Request Failed With HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized. ReportingService2005
I have programmatically deploy SQL server Reporting Services 2005 reports via msi file. The installation was success, I was able to run the reports on localhostReports at the target machine. But I get error "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." when I try to access it from the ASP.NET app report menu in the target machine.

It is Windows Server 2003 standard edition, it uses Windows Authentication. I have tried setting any combination below and still doesn't work. Anybody has any other ideas?

ReportingService2005 rs = new ReportingService2005();

rs.UseDefaultCredentials = true;
rs.PreAuthenticate = true;
rs.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; or
rs.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential("Admin", "psw");

The Request Failed With Http Status 401 In Reporting Services 2005
I get the title error message when running a report in reporting services (not when going in to edit for report name etc). I'm trying to obtain statistics from the ReportingServices database executionlog table to find out who ran a report (using the execution sample reports from the installation disk by user) and to see how long it took and what were the parameters that were entered. The problem is, when you set Anonymous Access in IIS to get round this access problem and set it to be a specific user (lets call the user Mr X) all reports are permanently flagged as being created and modified by Mr X rather than the user who's made the amendment if an existing report or the creator of the new report. Also, the executionlog table in the reportserver database flags ALL reports as being run by Mr X even though they've been run by many different users. Is there a way around this please?

The Request Failed With HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized. - ReportingService2005 Webservice

Hello, I am trying to schedule a report using the ReportingService2005 web service.  It works in my local machine, but as soon as I deploy my web app to a server I get this exception:

System.Net.WebException: The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized.
   at System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapHttpClientProtocol.ReadResponse(SoapClientMessage message, WebResponse response, Stream responseStream, Boolean asyncCall)

   at ReportScheduling.SaveSubscription(String SubscriptionID, String ReportName, Int32 ReportID)
   at ReportScheduling.ScheduleReport()

I see that a lot of people are having the same problem but no solutions are given, Answers like "use the default credentials" .  Or "pass a user name and a password" are not doing anything.  This has got to be a machine setting. Can anyone share the specific fix?  Sad that this is not in Microsoft's standard documentation or MSDN.  Very frustating.

The Request Failed With HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized. - ReportService2005.asmx
I have a report server set up to use SSL and Basic authentication. I am trying to create an application that uses the ReportService2005 web service. I can add the web reference ok, but when I try to use it to list reports, I get the "The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized." error.

What steps do I need to take to get the authentication to work correctly? I have kerberos configured for the server, although I don't think that would matter here.

System.Net.WebException: The Request Failed With HTTP Status 404: Object Not Found.
We did configure reporting services to use a custom security extension on a Windows  2000 sp4 machine and using IIS 5.0.

The website for reporting services is not using the default website in IIS. It uses IP address : 192.168.1.20 and host header name is rpt2.compagny.com. When accessing the report manager at http://rpt2.compagny.com/reports$sql_2005 from another machine or on the machine where reporting services is installed  we get an error message.

Error Message : The attempt to connect to the report server failed.  Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version.

The RSWebApplication.config file looks like the following :

<UI>

                  <CustomAuthenticationUI>

                        <loginUrl>/Pages/UILogon.aspx</loginUrl>

                  <UseSSL>False</UseSSL>

                  </CustomAuthenticationUI>

                  <ReportServerUrl>http://server name/ReportServer$sql_2005</ReportServerUrl>

      </UI>

The RSreportserver.config file looks like the following :

<UrlRoot>http://server name/ReportServer$SQL_2005</UrlRoot>

We already tried replacing the server name with the ip address in both the RSreportserver.config file and RSWebapplication.config file and it still does not work.

here is the logfile information :

The Request Failed With HTTP Status 401: Unauthorized. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)
I know that another thread dealt with this error message before but after trying all the suggestions of that thread without success, I thought my problem may be different.

I have SSRS 2005 installed on my local machine (TAH112) and it worked flawlessly for months.  Suddenly it stopped working today.  The Reporting Services Configuration tool shows everything is normal (green buttons all the way except for encryption keys button that is blue and Execution Account button that is yellow).

When I try to connect to the server with SSMS,  I got the following error:

TITLE: Connect to Server
------------------------------

Cannot connect to http://tah112/reportserver.

------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

The request failed with HTTP status 401: Unauthorized. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)

------------------------------
BUTTONS:

OK
------------------------------

I cannot connect to the reports from a browser either (locally or remotely).

Could anyone offer some clue to fix this?

Thanks,

Is it possible for SQLServer to make a http web request in a stored procedure? I know that you can configure it to send email, but I'd rather do that on the webserver side, and that needs to be triggered by a request of some sort. I have a sp that runs nightly, and I'd like it to send out a http request when its done so that I can do further processing/send email/what have you. I haven't been able to find anything on this subject in any of the books I have, and my google-fu isn't strong enough. Thanks for any hints.

Create HTTP Request In Stored Procedure
Hi,

I want to know if it is possible to create and execute a http request in SQL Server. I want to run the request in the database as alot of the data in the url would be retrieved from the database.

I want to create a stored procedure that runs the request. The stored procedure must be called from a trigger on a table.

The reason I want to go this way is because it would be alot faster that to get the data from the database and then execute the http request in the application. Another reason that I want it done on the database side is because the internet connection of my client is not as fast as the one I am using for development so I don't want the pages to load to many times and get the data between the server and the client computer through as fast as possible.

Any ideas on how I would do this?

Connect To HTTP-Endpoint With SQL-Server Authentication?
Hello,

I created a HTTP-Endpoint on SQL Server 2005. Now I try to call this web service from a c# client but using SQL-Server authentication (i.e. my user is a sql server user but not a windows user). But it doesn't work.
I can connect to the service using a windows user and NTLM authentication. But for some reasons Iwould much prefer if I could use SQL-Server authentication. Is it possible?

Here is how I created the endpoint:

Code Snippet
CREATE ENDPOINT myService
STATE = STARTED
AS HTTP(
PATH = '/services',
AUTHENTICATION = (INTEGRATED ),
PORTS = ( SSL ),
SITE = '*'
)
FOR SOAP (
WEBMETHOD 'GetStuff'
(name='MyDB.dbo.FKT_getStuff',
SCHEMA=STANDARD ),
WSDL = DEFAULT,
LOGIN_TYPE = MIXED,
SCHEMA = STANDARD,
DATABASE = 'MyDB',
NAMESPACE = 'Services'
);

Either a connection cannot be made to the localhost server, or Analysis Services is not running on the computer specified.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException: Either a connection cannot be made to the localhost server, or Analysis Services is not running on the computer specified.

I have tried everything I can think of to fix it but can't get it to work.  I have even gone through the technet document titled "Resolving Common Connectivity Issues in SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services Connectivity Scenarios" but it hasn't helped.

I am using SQL Server (Analysis Services) 2005 and ASP .NET 2.0.  The application is developed in VS 2005.

I'm at a loss...can you help?

Cheers in advance!

Unable To Connect To HTTP Endpoint Using Digest Authentication On A Server 2003 PDC
I am just about ready to tear my hair out on this one, at this point you guys are my last resort! Wouldn't it be nice if I could go to bed and have an answer for me in the morning....

I've had a working HTTP endpoint using Basic Authentication over SSL for months in our development environment, but now I'm moving our application to a production server and I'd like to be able to use Digest Authentication in the clear instead so the processor doesn't waste cycles on the SSL decryption. I've spent hours fiddling with my endpoint to no avail.

This is the closest message relating to what I'm doing that I've been able to find: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1131251&SiteID=1

In my case, the SQL Server is joined to a domain that is entirely Windows Server 2003 - no Windows 2000, so support for Digest Authentication is a non-issue. I'm also explicitly doing a GRANT CONNECT on my endpoint to the domain user I'm using. Here is the top of my CREATE ENDPOINT DDL:

CREATE ENDPOINT [Kudos]
    STATE=STARTED
    AS HTTP (PATH=N'/Kudos',
        PORTS = (CLEAR),
        AUTHENTICATION = (DIGEST,NTLM),
        SITE=N'echobase.kudosnow.com'
        DEFAULT_LOGON_DOMAIN = N'kudosnow',
        AUTH_REALM = N'kudosnow'',
        CLEAR_PORT = 80,
        COMPRESSION=DISABLED)
    FOR SOAP (

I am debugging using wfetch 1.3... I can get this to work using NTLM Authentication; sending a GET to my endpoint with the ?wsdlsimple querystring parameter returns my WSDL just fine.

But Digest just doesn't want to work! If I remove NTLM from my AUTHENTICATION directive and try using Digest with wfetch or from my (PHP) web service consumer I get an HTTP 401 no matter what I do. I've tried fiddling with the DEFAULT_LOGON_DOMAIN, AUTH_REALM, and anything else I can think of.

The errors I am sporadically finding in the SQL Server error log are:

HTTP authentication failed. [CLIENT: 192.168.245.238] from source Logon

Followed by:

Error: 26026, Severity: 14, State: 1. from source Logon

I can't find any detail about the second error.

........

Just occurred to me that I've also been trying to view my WSDL directly in IE, and this is what's causing the SQL error to be logged, not wfetch - that's why it appeared sporadically.

So, wfetch isn't causing an 'HTTP authentication failed' error, but Internet Explorer is... maybe Digest Authentication isn't implemented correctly in wfetch?

Regardless... I'm still not able to authenticate from IE or from my client, but this may shed some more light on the issue.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Request For The Permission Of Type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission' Failed - Server Report
I am using embedded code in a server report to access information from a SQL database.  The report runs fine on my development computer but when I deploy to the server and attempt to run from there, I receive the following error:

Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.SqlClient.SqlClientPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Here is the sample code that generates the above error.

Public Function SayHello() As String
      Dim strAnswer as string
      Try
          Dim cnConn As New System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection
          cnConn.ConnectionString = strConnString
          cnConn.Open()
          cnConn.Close()
          cnConn = Nothing
          strAnswer = "Hello"
     Catch ex As Exception
          strAnswer = ex.message
     End Try

    Return strAnswer
   End Function

I would prefer not to have to create a seperate DLL for these routines as they aren't used anywhere else and are small in footprint.

Any suggestions?

Sheryl

HTTP 400: Bad Request Error. And ERROR: The Remote Name Could Not Be Resolved: 'host Header Value'
Whenever I attempt to access http://<server>/Reports, it comes back at me with an  HTTP 400: Bad Request error.

The http://<server>/ReportServer works fine. The error only occurs on /Reports, and the error is displayed using some of the page elements of the /Reports site.

The reportserver and reports virtual directory are running under are not running under the default website on IIS 6. i created the reports and reportserver using the reporting services configuration tools. the website has a host header value and has an ip address.

RSWebapplication.config looks like this :

<ReportServerUrl>http://servername/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>

RSreportserver.config looks like this :

<UrlRoot>http://servername/ReportServer</UrlRoot>

i tried the following changes :

1 - from <ReportServerUrl>http://servername/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>

to <ReportServerUrl>http://host header value/ReportServer</ReportServerUrl>

2 - from <UrlRoot>http://servername/ReportServer</UrlRoot>

to <UrlRoot>http://host header value/ReportServer</UrlRoot>

now i get an error : ERROR: The remote name could not be resolved: 'host header value'

I am trying to load data into a SQL Server table through a web page.  I am getting error like this:

Error: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.)

I am doing the same for other tables in the same db its working fine. but its working for one table alone. The table name is like this (DTD_PUMA_DeliveryPerformance)

Is it cos of table name???

I tried with import/export wizard also its working fine but still its not working for web page.

I don t think its cos of network or OS!! Its with table or some connection property.Pls help me in solving this.

Cannot Connect Remotely To HTTP EndPoint
Dear all,

I appologise that incarnations of this topic have been posted several times on this forum, however I cannot find a scenario that is the same as my own so I've resorted to starting a new thread.

I can successfully create and connect remotely to an HTTP EndPoint on my Windows 2003 machine using Integrated security, the administrator username and password via my static IP address.

I have read that Windows XP SP2 supports HTTP EndPoints, and it would be much more convenient for me to be able to create EndPoints in XP, and connect remotely.

I have created the endpoint like so...

CREATE ENDPOINT sql_tvr10
STATE = STARTED
AS HTTP(
PATH = '/sql/tvr10', AUTHENTICATION = (INTEGRATED),
PORTS = (CLEAR))

FOR SOAP (
WEBMETHOD 'StoredProcedure1'
(name='master.dbo.StoredProcedure1'),
WSDL = DEFAULT,
BATCHES = ENABLED,
DATABASE = 'master',
NAMESPACE = 'http://194.106.11.11/' )

In visual studio I can retrive a list of services running at http://localhost/sql/tvr10?WSDL absolutely fine. However, in Visual Studio on the remote machine, I cannot connect to http://194.106.11.11/sql/tvr10?WSDL - it prompts me for a username and password, however I cannot select the username - it is set to "Athlon64Guest" (Athlon64 is my server computer name). I have no passwords on any of my windows accounts (except administrator), and I have no database passwords set.

Could someone please tell me how I should go about accessing the HTTP EndPoint?

Just so it is clear, I am running a small LAN with no domain, just a workgroup. I need the client application to be able to connect via http regardless of which network it is on. I am using VS2005 and SQL Server 2005 Dev Ed.

Many thanks in advance,
Simon

Login Failed To Connect To SQL Server
Hi all,For testing purposes I created a local database using SQL Server 2000. I want to connect to this database using following code:mySqlConnection = New SqlConnection("server=(local)SQLExpress;Integrated Security=SSPI;database=TestDbInge;UID=IVANSARK;PWD=test") mySqlCommand = New SqlCommand("SELECT Voornaam FROM Personen", mySqlConnection) mySqlConnection.Open() I'm getting the message below: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open database "TestDbInge" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'IVANSARKASPNET'. It's the same when I don't add the userid and password part to the connectionstring.
What am I doing wrong?? And where does "IVANSARKASPNET" come from? Shouldn't I be anonymous? Please help.Regards, Inge

A Request To Send Data To The Computer Running IIS Has Failed
We have developed a Winmobile 5.0 application using VS2005 and Sql 2005 CE. We have successfuly installed the Server Agent on the web server and using the url 'http://websitename/rdatest/sqlcesa30.dll' have received an acknowledgement from the server agent. When we set up the Web Syncronization Wizard we kept things simple and opted for anonymous access. However, our Sql 2005 is based on a separate dedicated server which can be accessed by the web server. Our website, also written in VS2005, uses the following connection string to access the Sql 2005 database for our website.

"server=172.18.22.222; database=Audit; uid=steve; pwd=letmein"

When using the following code in our PDA application we have tried the above string as well as another interpretation with the same resulting error 'A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed, for more information please see HResult'. The code we are using is..

Using rda As New SqlCeRemoteDataAccess()
            Dim sCon As String = "Provider=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=172.18.22.222; Initial Catalog=Audit ; UserID=steve; Password=letmein"
            Dim sCon As String = "server=172.18.22.222; database=Audit; uid=steve; pwd=letmein"
            rda.InternetUrl = "http://websitename/rdatest/sqlcesa30.dll"
            rda.LocalConnectionString = "Data Source=Program FilesTestSysTestdata.sdf"

            Try
                rda.Pull("Detail", "SELECT Details, Actions FROM Detail", sCon, RdaTrackOption.TrackingOff, "DtlErrors")
            Catch sqlCeEx As SqlCeException
               RecError( sqlCeEx.ToString)
            End Try
End Using

Having tried both connection strings we feel the error is caused by something else possibly on our dedicated Sql server. Would really appreciate any help.

A Request To Send Data To The Computer Running IIS Has Failed
Hi,

I Have an application for Pocket PC 2003 developed in Visual Studio 2003(VB.Net , Smart Device App). I Use Sql Server CE as the database which Synchronizes with Sql Server 2000, SP4. The IIS and the Sql Server 2000 are in different Machines. I Have Installed the proper Sqlserver Ce in the IIS machine  and created virtual directory with Basic authentication.I connect my device through Active Sync 3.7.  I could browse the sscesa20.dll from Pocket IE and get the ' SQL Server CE Server Agent ' message. The PC to which my pocket PC is connected is under a Proxy.

When I tried the RDA.Pull()  , the function fails and returns the error
" Error Code: 80072EE7
  A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. For more information see HRESULT.  [,,,,,]
Minor Error : 28037
Source: Sql Server 2000 Windows CE Edition. "

The same application works in other network which is not under a proxy.

Any clues ?

Thanks,
Jibu

I have the emulator about to get on to the internet and can even get to the http://sqlce.domain.com/sqlmobile/sqlcesa30.dll url but when runing the vb.net code I get the error 28037 "A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. For more information, see HRESULT.". Any help would be greatly appreciated. No software firewalls are running. I have a dns entry that points to my laptop for testing. The sync function code is below.

Sub sync()

Dim repl As New SqlCeReplication()

repl.InternetUrl = "http://sqlce.domain.com/SQLMobile/sqlcesa30.dll"

repl.Publisher = "MY-LAPTOPDBSERVER"

repl.PublisherDatabase = "SQLMobile"

repl.PublisherSecurityMode = SecurityType.NTAuthentication

repl.Publication = "SQLMobile"

repl.Subscriber = "SQLMobile"

repl.SubscriberConnectionString = "Data Source='" + filename + "';Max Database Size=128;Default Lock Escalation =100;"

Try

repl.AddSubscription(AddOption.CreateDatabase)

repl.Synchronize()

Catch err As SqlCeException

MessageBox.Show(err.ToString)

End Try

End Sub

The account itself works fine, I am able to log in to the server successfully, for example there are no problems when I use the same user name and password for the Query Analyzer.
What could be the cause of the error mentioned above?
