Is The SQL Server 2005 Express Toolkit Download Corrupt?
I have now tried to download this several times and each time I get a "Extraction failed | File is corrupt" dialog midway through the extraction. Each time it is corrupt in the same place, UNTIL I re-download it, when it is corrupt in a different place!
I've tried using the -x switch to extract to different disks. No difference there - so not a disk error.
I could download and extract "SQLEXPR_ADV.EXE" fine.
The forums seem to offer no hope here either.

Hi, I had some issues on my server and had to uninstall .Net Framework 2.0, SQL Server 2005 Express, and SQL Express Toolkit. I installed SQL Server 2005 Express and it seemed to be ok. Then my problems all started when I tried to install SQL Express Toolkit because I needed to install DTS Wizard again, and it errors out and wouldn't let me install it. So I uninstalled everything that's listed above again. I then tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express again, and on the second from last screen, while its listing all the components and configuring them, I get the following error as it's configuring the last component... which was the SQL Server Database Services. TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup ----------------------------------------------------------- The SQL Server service failed to start. For more information, see the SQL Server Books Online topics, "How to: View SQL Server 2005 Setup Log Files" and "Starting SQL Server Manually." I tried to re-install the SQL Server Express another 7 times wth no luck. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it. Thanks, Bill

Hi, I had previously installed SQL Server 2005 Express edition (and later, SQl Server Management studio express). Recently, I wanted to try out 'Reporting services' and downloaded 'SQL server 2005 express Toolkit'. After installation, I have a new program group 'Visual studio 2005' . I started that with 'New Report Project'. I tried to attach an existing database (to be precise, in 'connection string' part) , but it is giving error saying 'An error has occured while establishing connection to Server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005 (???) ,..... may be caused the fact that under default setting SQL Server does not allow remote connections ' I tried my existing SQL Server 2005 express edition Surface Area Configuration and it is configured for accepting remote connection using both TCP/IP & named pipes. Now, I have following doubts: 1. Do I have to download & install SQL Server 2005 Express edition wiht Advanced options, if I wish to use Reporting services or I can use the existing SS2005EE along with Toolkit services? 2. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit Is Not In My Add Remove Programs How Do I Uninstall It?
I have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit installed but there is something from with the installation since every time that I try and create a Report Server Project It gives me error Could not load file or assembly "Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer, Version 9.0.242.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannopt find the file spesified. How can I reinstall it or repair the installation so it will work. I have uninstalled every SQL2000 component in Add Remove Programs and reinstalled them. The problem is however that I cannot see an entry for "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit" in the Add Remove programs in Windows XP Profesional. Can someone please help me. Hello, this is the third time i installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional, SQL Server 2005 Express Advanced Services & Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit. I installed the programms in this order, and again, at the end are all of the Templates in Visual Studio missing. There are several post's in NewsGroups about this behavior in diffrent scenarios, as example this one, and it is a bit of a mistery, how to solve this problem. I can not install the tool kit and I am not getting any information in a log. Also I would like to know where I can get information for importing a database downloaded from Microsoft into my sql 2005 express database. Is there also a way to import using scripts. I have windows XP box, installed MS Visual Studio 2005 without SQL 2005 express.After this I have installed SQL 2005 Express edition and then SQL 2005 client toolkit. Now when I open "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio", it gives message missing shortcut and searches for devenv.exe file. That is the problem, I dont know where is problem..?? Unable To Install SQL Express 2005 Toolkit Sp2
Hi support I have a copy of Visual studio 2008, SQL Express advanced 2005 sp2 and i want to install SQL Express 2005 toolkit 2005. I have run the install several times and each time the installer thinks i've already installed the software and refers me back to add/remove to modify the install. According to my registry i have installed the toolkit ..90/tools/setup/editiontype ( = Express Edition Toolkit) but the Business Intelligence Development Studio options haven't installed along with all the other options offered under the toolkit sp2, as i can't see them as an option to select from the start/all programs/microsoft sql server 2005. Also for some reason there is no options to uninstall the toolkit, which again means i have no way of reinstalling the software. Please help Damian

I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. I have also downloaded the Sql Server Express toolkit from the Microsoft site in order to get access to the server's Reporting Services. The toolkit, according to Microsoft, should have included a cut-down version of the Business Intelligence Development Studio. The problem is that after downloding and installing I cant find Business Intelligence development Studio. The shortcut in the start menu brings me to Visual Studio 2005 and not to Business Intelligence Development Studio. Am I missing something?

Can't Start SS Business Intelligence Installed From SS 2005 Express Edition Toolkit
I downloaded and installed Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit. Installs completed successfully, and I can launch the SS Management Studio, but when I launch SS Business Intelligence Development Studio, I get message saying "Windows is searching for devenv.exe". When I search for this file I don't find it on my hard drive. I thought I'd reinstall the SS Express Edition Toolkit, but I can't find this application in the Control Panel Installed Programs list, so I can't uninstall it. Any ideas as to how I can get SS Business Intelligence Studio working?

Download/ Uninstall Problem: Error Indicating Corrupt File
I hope someone can help me here. Here is some background. As I was attempting to download SQL Express, the download dialog box timed out. When I x-ed out of the download, Windows XP Professional 2002 threw up an error message indicating that the dialog box was non-responsive, and I elected to close it. I downloaded SQL again successfully, and installed with no errors. I then attempted to create a new db through Visual Web Developer. Instead of creating a database, Visual Studio returned an error saying that I did not allow for new database objects, and that I should change my permission settings. I could not figure out how to do this, so I uninstalled SQL Express. After re-starting, I got the following message: €œYour SQL Server Installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (could not open SQLEVN70.RLL). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this option.€? I uninstalled MS SQL again from the Add/Delete Programs on my Control Panel. On re-start, I received the same error again. On my Programs list, MS SQL is not present, there are several MS SQL files in the path C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server. So I located the Visual Studio uninstall tool and attempted to run it. I received the same error: €œYour SQL Server Installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with (could not open SQLEVN70.RLL). Please uninstall then re-run setup to correct this option.€? Any ideas on how to uninstall the files in my program files so I can load a clean copy of SQL?

I see on the install page the following message: Download the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Before you complete a Microsoft SQL Server download and install any member of the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition family, you must install the .NET Framework 2.0. Can Only Download SQL Server Express And None Of Its Auxiliaries
I am trying to demo SQL Server Express I have downloaded and installed SQL Server Express and also downloaded and installed SQL Server Express Service Release 2. I have also downloaded several of the Visual Studio tutorials about how to do things. However, I have been unable to download SQL Server Management Studio Express Edition, nor SQL Server 2005 Books OnLine, nor SQL Server Samples so I really cannot do anything with the *#$@ thing. There are no error messages. The downloads begin and then freeze after downloading about 3-4MB. They stay frozen until they time out. I have turned off all firewalls, virus protection, turned off all security in Internet Explorer. I thought at first it was because I had not yet registered but I registered and it still won't download. What else can be wrong? I am on XP Prof SR 2, not vista, all my software is uptodate, in order to install SQL Server Express of course I downloaded and installed the required installation program and the Net version 2 Framework. Plenty of disk space, 2 GB of ram, dual processor Dell XPS PC on a DSL connection. I have read the info about reasons for download problems and have checked the bitsadmin service, downloaded the update for it (it told me I already had it) and downloaded the latest version of Windows Support Tools and ran the bitsadmin /util /repairservice /force and it said all was fine. I tried it on a second machine with same results. I am not a beginner, I have been writing code for Access for several years. "Support" says this forum is the only place to go since I refuse to pay them $99 to help me demo what is theoretically a sample piece of free software.

Can anyone provide me with an alternate download link for SQL Server Management Studio Express? My download attempts are stalling either immediately or after downloading under 200K. Other links I've found on the web seem to point back to Microsoft's servers, as I'm getting the same behavior. I successfully downloaded SQL Server Express, and have since rebooted and successfully downloaded files from other sites. Interestingly, I can't download the 64 bit version, either (I need 32 bit, but figured it was worth seeing whether 64 bit would download). All the Componets are grayed out disabled and not available to proceed further while installing. I just upgraded my Sql Server to 2008 and I was hoping that the link found in this page would provide the download to SSMSE for Sql Server 2008, but it redirects me to 2005 version. I don't any instances running with Sql Server 2005 that I could access through SSMSE 2005, so I can't use it. Does anyone have the link for download to SSMSE 2008? Or should I downgrade? Hi, I hope there is some body arround here to solve my problem. After reinstalling SQL server 2005 I got this message: Your SQL Server installation is either corrupt or has been tampered with ( Error getting Instance ID From name). Please uninstall, then re-run stetup to correct this problem. There are also 51 setup log files in: Setup/Boostrap/Log/files/ Can Ido that manually? Or is there another way to solve this problem. Hi, I found the proper page for download of the SQL Server 2005 Evaluation and I went through the steps of registering, setting up an account, etc. When I am redirected back to the page where I can theoretically now download the installation, there are two downloads available: ReadmeSQL2005.htm and RequirementsSQL2005.htm - But not the actuall installation file. Corrupt Sql.cab File Error While Installing Sql Server 2005 Develooper Edition
I was successfully able to installing sql server 2005 developer edition all peices except the "Workstation Component, Book Online, Development Tool", the last item in the installation list. It gave errror for bad sql.cab file. Although this developer edition came directly of the box this error came up in many attempts. Upon "Ignore" it gives error 2350. I am able to run sql server's all the services and able to access it via VS.Net server browser. I can create and change tables etc. but there is no "Management Studio" installed. There is no icon for it either on the desktop or in the Start->SQL Server 2005 menu. Is it possible to get and copy sql.cab file or entire client component from somewhere else? --Freed download or something? I searched for sql.cab file but it was not in the CD. It could be inside some other file or cmpressed. Any suggestion.

How Do I Upload To And Download From A Shared SQL Server 2005 Database?
My hosting gives me ASP.NET 2.0 and a shared SQL Server 2005 package. I have Visual Studio 2005 on my machine - which installs SQL Server 2005 Express. I have also installed SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express. I wish to develop my database locally (mdf file) as I won't always have internet access (and therefore can't always work directly with the remote shared database). My question is, how do I upload my database info from my local machine to my remote shared database? Also I shall wish to download my remote database to my local machine in order to work on the database (and then be able to re-upload it) sometimes. Please can somebody tell me how I can do this? Will SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express permit me to do this and if so how? If I need the full version of SQL Server 2005 Management Studio then I do have SQL Server 2005 and this install with it (but it all looks a bit complicated to install for me).
