Management Studio Missing After Installing SQL Server 2005 Dev
I've just installed SQL Server 2005 Development Edition x64 on Windows XP x64bit. The actual server (as well as Integration, Reporting Services etc) installs fine, I can connect to it via Visual Studio 2005 fine. However, all of the software tools are missing including Management Studio, Business Intelligence Studio etc. They don't show up in the start menu at all and I can't find them in the Program Files directory.
Anyone know how I can get them back? I've tried reinstalling SQL Server 2005, reformatting Windows XP x64, I'm at my wits end!! Many thanks!

SQL Server 2005 64bit Install - Missing Management Studio
Good Afternoon, I just installed SQL Server 2005 64bit on a fresh system with no other applications loaded on running on the new server. The only other component that was installed with the SS2K5 database services is SSIS. The base installation and the SP2 patch went on perfect. I went looking for the Management Studio thru the Start menu options and it is NOT under the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 group. The only options under the SS2K5 group are "Configuration Tools" and "Docs and Tutorials". Here are file names that I downloaded from the MS website and installed. SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #1 x64 MLF.x11-57796 (which is a zipped) SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x64-ENU There was also another zipped file that I tried to install but it seems to be a duplicate of the zipped file above: SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #2 x64 MLF.x11-57797 Any help would be greatly appriciated. Missing SQL Server Management Studio
Hi, I am a novice at SQl Server, so apologise in advance if you think this is a really stupid question. I have a windows XP laptop with Visual Studio 2005. I installed SQl Server 2005 Developer Edition but do not see the SQl Server Management Studio anywhere. The only thing in Programs/ SQL Server 2005 is SQL Server Configuration Manager. I then uninstalled it & installed SQL Server Express but encountered the same issue. I would like to install the Developer Edition if possible. I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling a few times but it does not work. Could someone please help in resolving this. Appreciate it!

Error Installing SQL Server Management Studio Express
Yesterday I successfully installed Microsoft Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition which included SQL Server 2005 Express. Today I noticed I needed to download the Management Studio seperate download. I downloaded SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi and executed it and get the following error: Error reading from file C:...SQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.. Solved my own problem. Once I moved the msi to C: the installation worked. Apparently the path it was in was too long causing it to be unreadable. c:xxxxxxxxSQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msiSQLServer2005_SSMSEE.msi.

Installing Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express Broke My Asp.net Databases
Morning, I installed the managerment stuid on my machine and now none of my database connections seem to work any more. I keep getting the attached error. Before I installed the studio the system worked fine, I could connect to the database and everything was fine. Does the studio change any permission stuff? I cannot seem to get it to work again at all now, I added in aspnet as a login inside the studio and it still won't let me connect to the database. I cannot find *any* logs anywhere that might be helpful in what it is doing or see any way to debug the connection to find out what the problem is. When I look at the permissions inside of the studio it shows me that the connections should all be fine. I checked and remote and local connections are setup, although it is only doing local connections anyway since this is a asp.net web server page. Any idea what the problem is here? This is very frustrating and annoying :( Since I didn't change anything and now nothing I will do gets it to work. I even tried to uninstall the management tool and it still doesn't work. Cannot open user default database. Login failed. Login failed for user 'GREENANDFLUFFYASPNET'. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Cannot open user default database. Visual Studio 2005 Standard And SQL Server Management Studio?
I am new to visual studio and I am still not sure of all its components and features. I installed visual studio 2005 standard edition but cannot find SQL Server Management Studio? I guess this must be because it is not included with Visual studio 2005 standard. Is it included with VS 2005 professional? I want to add pictures of products to my shopping site using an SQL database and I’ve been told that SQL Server Management studio is required as it is a graphical tool. How would I go about obtaining the SQL server management studio. There seems to be different versions of SQL server that it is confusing to know which one to purchase. Will the SQL server 2005 version that comes with Visual studio standard be sufficient for me now right? I want to create a shopping site with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of products. I want to use an SQL server 2005 database. The database will include ‘dynamically generated’ product images if that is the correct terminology. My goodness, it seems I still have so much to learn. Thanks

Generate Scripts Missing Option In Management Studio
I was hoping this would be fixed in SP1, but it is still missing. Particularly in a development environment, I find it very useful to have scripts DROP first, then do a CREATE for tables. There is an option called Script Behavior that is supposed to allow this, according to the help text. There are supposed to be 3 options, DROP only, CREATE only and DROP + CREATE. This third option (the one I need) is missing. It does not show up on the drop down. Sorry, I don't want to be rude, but before anyone suggests it, yes, I know I can create a DROP script first and then go back in and create a CREATE script and then run both. And I don't want to change my methodology, and I don't want to do twice the work. All I would like to know is if anyone knows how to get this 3rd option to appear, or if its a known bug, is there a hotfix or a plan to fix it soon. Thanks, Wayne

Installing MS Visual Studio 2005 (PE). On Vista X64 (BE) Running MS SQL Server 2005 (DE) X64
Hi, I am running SQL Server 2005 x64 DE on Vista x64. I installed MS VS 2005 Pro. Edition. During the setup of VS, I did a custom install, un-checking the SQL Express addition box. After installation, I received errors that indicated the SQL Express did not install. Even though I do not have SQL Express installed on my machine, MS Update says that I need SQL Express SP2. My SQL DE is up to date with SP2 and MS Update indicates as "optional" that I need SQL SP2. Is SQL Express a necessity for VS Pro? If not, why is MS Update indicating that I need SQL Express SP2? In addition, why is MS Update telling me I need SQL SP2 when it is already installed? Note: I installed SQL SP2 manually, not through MS Update. This makes me believe that MS Update is not detecting it. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, Abel

SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Can't Be Found
Sorry if someone already covered this, but I can't find anything about it. I just installed (3 hours ago actually) SQL2005 Standard Edition (from the Launch event) on my machine, and i don't seem to have a shortcut to the SQL Server 2005 Management Studio anywhere. I looked for a likely executable, but couldn't find it anywhere. This wouldn't bother me as much if I could use Enterprise Manager from 2K, but SQL2005 will not allow it to register. How do I get this going? There are people here that want to inspect it's features, etc. I haven't got anything to show them.

At the lat screen it displayes the message that "SQL Server Management Studio Express installation could not be completed as it was intreupted". Though I did not do any thing? I tried at least 20 times but it ends up here. I followed all the steps as defined in SQL Server Express setup on Microsoft site? Any help would be appreciated. ADK

Bug With SQL Server 2005 Management Studio Express
Every time I try to remove 'condensed type' from the custom table view (working in database diagrams) the MSE crashes on me, as soon as I push the < button to remove it from the list of columns. Is there a forum or place to post such a bug, or someone to send full details to? When it dies, it doesn't give me an option to send the information to MS. Cheers, -jc

Installing SQL Server 2005 Management Tools - Setup Crashing Repeatedly
I'm having many many issues installing sql server management tools. i had visual studio 2005 installed first, but uninstalled and sql related things before trying to install sql server management tools again - i also deleted the program files/microsoft sql server/ folder so there are no references. Firstly the system configuration check gives me a warning that the system doesn't meet the recommended hardware requirements - this is wrong... i've got 2.33Ghz dual core + 1gb of ram... I select just management tools + client connectivity to install and click next -> the setup support files/native client/owc11 etc all install fine but workstation components etc fail and the setup log appears to either be empty and not available and MSXML6 fails... after clicking finish the installer appears to crash - : "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"... I have tried all sorts of variations on this install and have had no problems in the past - please help! Also, is it possible to run a script in Visual Studio 2005? If so, how? Thanks, Alex

SQL Server Management Studio Can't 'see' The 2005 Engine?? But Can See 2000 ?!?
Hello,I had SQL2000 server running fine on the windows 2003 box. I then installedSQL 2005 Express. They both worked together fine. I then uninstalled SQL2005 Express and installed SQL 2005 Server. But when I open SQL ServerManagement Studio, I can only connect to the SQL 2000 engine. In the Objectexplorer, it says v8.0.2039 (which I think is SQL 2000 Server, because I cansee the existing SQL 2000 databases). How can I get SQL Server Management Studio to 'see' the SQL 2005 databaseengine so I can create tables? I *think* its running because there is the'sqlservr.exe' process running, and during installation there is no issues. When I open SQL Server Management Studio, I choose 'Database Engine', thenmy local Servername with Windows Authentication. How do I connect to the SQL2005 instance? Thanks,Jack.

SQL Server 2005 And Management Studio Driving Me CRAZY
Is it just me, or are features missing in Management Studio? I mean, where is the "Export Objects" option when exporting data? Why is it so difficult to register a remote server? Why do the object views suck? And most important, why is the documentation the worst software documentation I have EVER SEEN?! Things that were easy in Enterprise Manager with Client Network Utility and Query Analyzer seem impossible, difficult, or maybe just hidden in Management Studio. If it is there, the documentation sure doesnt tell you how to find it. Please someone tell me that it's just me. Tell me that the features are there but Im not doing something right. I feel like putting my head in between my door opening and banging the door against it.
