MS Console And SQL Server Enterprise Manager Settings Problem
Over the weekend we’ve been moved from an old domain to the new domain. My computer name changed and username changed as well since it’s preceded with the new domain name. So, I am using the new profile now, that is exact copy of the old profile. I used to have a long list of SQL servers registered in MS SQL Enterprise Manager. When I login with the old name (profile) I still can see all these servers. I saved the console settings to a *.msc file. When I login to the new domain and open console by clicking on the saved file I don’t see any of my registered servers. Is there a way to transfer the console settings? Am I missing something? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SQL Server Enterprise Manager Closing Automatically From Console
This is the weirdest this I have ever seen in a long time. I have MS SQL Server running on a server and use Enterprise Manager a lot. Well, the damndest thing happens when I log onto the server from the console and run Enterprise Manager. If I go into Enterprise Manager, and go to a database and then select a table and right-click, and run the "Open Table" option; the entire Enterprise Manager application mysterously closes. This only happens from the server console and through Remotely Anywhere...it does not happen when I log onto the server from Remote Desktop. Has anyone ever seen this before? Does anyone know a fix for this?

SQL 2000 Enterprise Manager 'Management' Folder Empty
Hi, We patched our servers last week and now, when connecting to our server remotely via Enterprise Manager (with DBO permissions), the management folder shows as empty. My guess is its permission related but, I'm not sure where to begin to correct the issue since we aren’t sure how it happened. Any help will be greatly appreciated. ~des

What Version: Enterprise Manager Or Management Studio Express
This may be a dumb question but I have searched and haven't found an answer to it here yet. We are planing to get SQL Server 2005 for a specific purpose. We have several existing stand alone SQL Server 2000 database servers already. I have Enterprise Manager (2000) client installed on my PC. I recently installed SQL Server Express (2005) on my PC to get to know about new features. I have run into problems (BCP specifically) with having two versions of C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80... and C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server90... on my PC. Is there any point before or after we purchase Standard version of SQL Server 2005 when I can do away with C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80... and/or uninstall Enterprise manager? In other words can I manage SQL Server 2000 databases using only Management Studio(SQL Server 2005 client)? If not, how do I manage the two different versions of the client software on a single PC. Thanks, Dave K.

Translating Enterprise Manager And SQL Query Analyzer To SQL Server Management Studio
Good morning, I have a project that consists of modifying a report in Crystal. The problem is that I know very little about SQL and I need to add some data items to Crystal using SQL. The guide that I was given refers to Enterprise Manager and SQL Query Analyzer but they have since upgraded to SQL Server Management Studio. Can anyone translate the following statement into SQL Server Management Studio so that I can complete this process? Best regards, We will now edit the View on the MS SQL server. Open Enterprise Manager and find the cst_adEnroll_MyInitials _vw in the Views section of the database. Right-click, select Copy, then go to the menu bar and Select Tools and SQL Query Analyzer. Once Query Analyzer opens: Change CREATE to ALTER before the view name.

New SSB-Management Console
Hi, we are currently planning the development of a new SSB-Admin-Tool for SOA environments, which will allow dynamic configuration during MSBuild, register and monitor all services, dynamically configure routes (supporting gateway-servers and services registered on multiple servers for fail-safe). I would like to know if MS is currently working on something similar (the Service-Listing-Manager is buggy, old and seems to be dead on GDN) and what the community thinks.

Server Management Console Only??
Can the Server Management Studio Express be installed on a machine without SQL Server Express? I have a machine that I use daily that I need to access a remote instance but there is not a need (or space) to fully install SQL Server onto the local machine - all I need is the management tool. I tried installing it but the process errors out, saying a pre-requisite (MSXML6) isn't found. It refers me to a site with all the different SQL Server downloads. All I need is the management tool on this machine. Is there a way to do it? Tried loading "MOM" but it doesn't show up either Thanks Paul P

I'm assuming we need to install the management console because of the differences in 2000 and 2005. The install is for a x64 and our workstations are x32. Do I need to get a media kit for a x32 because the x64 install won't work. Where can I get the install for the x32 Management console and will this work?

Enterprise Manager Launch Error
Not sure what has caused this to suddenly happen, but each time I attempt to launch Enterprise Manager I get the error: "MMC cannot open the file C:MSSQLBINNSQL Server Enterprises Manager.MSC This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file." Now, I've already attempted to reinstall the client tools with no luck. The file does exist, and I have not changed my security settings -- at least that I'm aware of. I use EM daily, so I'm perplexed as to why over night it stopped working. Is it possible a Windows Update could have caused this? If you have any insight I'd appreciate it. Thanks. PS. I'm using SQL 7.0 on a WinXP Pro laptop. David

Enterprise Manager Causes Unknown User Name Error
A user is causing the Security Log to fill up with Event 529 "Unknown user name or bad password" errors whenever Enterprise Manager is started on her machine. The entries occur about six times every minute. She doesn't need to connect to a server, just start up EM. The following points may be of relevance: She is connecting using TCP/IP network library. She is on a different (non-trusted) domain to the SQL Server but others in her domain are not causing the same error messages. She is connecting using SQL Server security. Her username and password are registered correctly and she doesn't experience any problems when she does connect. When using query analyser to connect to the same server, the problem does not occur. After re-booting her machine the problem still occurrs. Her account is not locked out. Any ideas?
