Microsoft OLE DB Provider For ODBC Drivers Error '80004005'
Hi everybodyMy problem with sql server is the following one:I've got my backoffice manager application done with asp technologythat works on sql server installed on Win2000 and running on IIS5.what I've done is simply doing a backup of my db and moving the aspapplication on another server: Windows 2003 with IIS6 and sql serververs.8.Then I tried to set up everything as in the beginning on the previousmachine(Win2K), but I'm getting this error:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]Server SQL inesistente o accessonegato.(translated would be "SQL Server doesn't exist or access denied")/sitowebsite/bom/login.asp, line 13....where in the line 13 is set the connection to the database:Conn.Open Application("DBsource")which should be driven by what is set inside the global.asa file:Application("DBsource")="Provider=SQLOLEDB;server=;database=db_nam e;uid=db_uid;pwd=db_pwd;"Application("WS_DB_TYPE") = ( "SQLSERVER" )I tried to restore the database just not losing information and nothinghappens.I tried also to create a new user and modify the properties as itshould be from the previous settings in the db(db_owner,....etc), stillnothing.any clue is appriciated.many thanks in advance.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e07'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.

Our SQL - INSERT INTO tbl_WAAGUsage (logindate,logintime,countryname,subscriberid,ipad dress) VALUES ('2/16/2004','9:50:01 AM','Albania',62,'123456789')

I was wondering if somebody could help me... the following error message appears when I run an asp page... I did a google search and nobody appears to have had a solution to the particular problem I have... it's completely baffling but I'm hoping it's a simple setting.

Firstly, I'm sure the coding the correct as the asp page runs on two different servers correctly. I recently got a new server and the script does not appear to work with the Date function in asp on this new server. I outputted the SQL to the browser and then ran it through the Query Analyser(QA) and guess what, it worked! But when I run the asp page the above error crops up... now when I run the SQL through QA and alter the date value in the format 'dd/mm/yyyy' the above error appears in QA.. if I've lost you at this point let me know...

The way ASP passes the Date value to my SQL DB appears to be confused and it's really confusing me as it works perfectly on two servers and not the new one... the new server runs newer versions of O/S and SQL so I'm not sure that is the case... I've changed the date settings on the server so they all three servers match each other... so I have no where else to turn... any help and pointers would be much appreciated!

Can't Locate &&"Microsoft OLE DB Provider For ODBC Drivers&&" For Win Server 2003 X86

Been serahcing frantically for this provider: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers" for Windows Server 2003 x86.  However I can't seem to find it.  Supposedly MDAC 2.8 has it but when I go to install MDAC 2.8, nothing happens (this is acknowledged in fact in the support area on Microsoft and the given reason is that Win2K3 Server is already MDAC 2.8-compliant.  So no new stuff needs to be installed.  But alas this provider isn't in my list of available drivers).
Attempts to install any part of a lesser version of MDAC that says it has it are met with "Can't do that 'cause your current version of MDAC is higher that that."
I have been searching around all day on Msoft and other sites for such a beastie but like Brigadoon vanishing in the mist, it eludes me.  Msoft's main MDAC page is here:
We need to use this kind of driver apparently with a certain Crystal Reports report or else it just won't run.

Thanks in advance for any advice/insights/DL links that work, etc...

Microsoft OLE DB Provider For DB2 In SSIS Vs. ODBC In DTS
I finally made data transfer between AS400 and SQL2005  work by using Microsoft OLE DB provider for DB2. I have tried other methods, some do not have build-in destination, some have unicode conversion problem. The only issue I have with this method is the peformance. For example, 300,000 rows load from AS400 take only 3 minutes with the ODBC connection in DTS, but more than 5 minutes with the microsoft OLD DB provider for DB2 in SSIS.

Does anyone have the same issue or figured out any tweaking that may speed up the transfer?

Microsoft OLE DB Provider For SQL Server Error '80004005' On Load Balancing

I have posted this also in one forum. Somebody might have idea here.

We have four Windows 2003 advance servers with SP 3 configured on NLB.
Each of them has one NIC.
Recently we started to get frequent time-out error messages from web applications on those servers when they try to establish the connection with the SQL 2005. If you run web pages application to connect to sql server 10 times, 9 times you will get good connection results and 1 time you will get time-out.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'
Timeout expired
/common/mypage.asp, line 20

Connection to sql server is established with the connection string. Any idea how to solve this problem? Is there a connectionproblem? from NLB to Web to SQL?

We have tried doing some suggestions (e.g. LMHOST, IP, domain account for WEb to SQL connection, the Query Wait in SQL advance property.), but seems this timeout expired still exist

Thanks in advance...

OLE DB Destination - Microsoft OLEDB Drivers

I am using Microsoft OLE DB Drivers for DB2. Using these drivers, when i try to Build Query on the OLEDB Destination then the underlying DB2 schema is not visible. If I change the connection from DB2 to SQL Server/Oracle. I am able to view the underlying schema.

Is this a known issue for Microsoft DB2 Drivers?

Also when i try to insert data using these drivers and OLE DB Destination. For the columns which are not connected in the target component, i get this error:

Error: 0xC0202009 at MAPPING1 [694]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.

If i remove these columns from the target component then the insert query executes.

And access for that matter?  If so, where are they?

I have the following problem in a Win 2000 Server + SQL Server 2000environment and I hope somewhat can help me to resolve it (after manydays of useless attempts I am desperate). In my database I have two table:- master(id, field1, field2, ...)- detail(id0, id, progr, data, sede, esecutori, brani_autori)in a master-detail relation with "id" as foreign key.The fields of the "detail" table are:- id0: uniqueidentifier, primary key (newid() IsRowGuide=Yes);- id: uniqueidentifier, foreign key;- progr: bigint, Identity=Yes;- data: smalldatetime;- sede: varchar (100);- esecutori, brani_autori: text.In certain situations, in my asp site, I have to make a copy of a recordof "master" with all the linked record of the "detail" table. The code I've written to realize this task has been tested in manysimilar situations and has always worked fine (it is reported on the endof mail). With the two table above I have this strange behavior: when I attempt todo the copy of linked records in the "detail" table (using an "Insert"query), some records are correctly inserted, whereas for few otherrecords the Conn.Execute of the "Insert" query don't go and I receivethe message:Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80040e31'Timeout expiredAfter many attempts I've reached these conclusions:1.It isn't the situation described in this faq: also using the IP for the "Data Source" the situation is thesame; on the other hand I have the problem also when there is only onerecord to copy in the "detail" table, so the problem is not the durationof the query.2.It isn't due to the contents of the record (at least not directly): if Isubstitute the contents of one of this records with simple text theerror persists, if I create manually a new record in "detail" and put init the data of the indicted record it is copied normally. So the problemseems to be the record itself and not its contents.3.The insert query work normally if I execute it from the Query Analizer.4.The problem seems to be due to the fact that, when I have a recordsetobject open on the table and pointed to one of this records, SQL Serverblocks the table and don't permit new insertion; in fact if I executethe same Insert query out of the code where the recordset object is openit works. Finally if the problem is the one of the point 4, I don't know thereason of this behaviour and how to resolve it.So, please, help me because it is of great importance for my work! Many, many thanksTonio Tanzi*** Code of the copy procedure ***....old_id_master= 'the id of the master record to copynew_id_master= 'the id of new master record (copy of the above)strsql="Select * From detail where id='" & old_id_master & "'"set rs=Conn.Execute(strsql)do while not rs.Eofstrsql="Insert Into detail (id, data, sede, esecutori, brani_autori)"& " Values ('" & new_id_master & "','" & data & "','" & _sede "','" & esecutori & "','" & brani_autori & "')"Conn.Execute(strsql)rs.movenextlooprs.closeThis code works good for the "good" records, don't words for the "bad"records, but if I force an insert for a "bad" record before or after thedo while-loop (i.e. when the rs is not pointed on a "bad" record) it works.

Missing ODBC Drivers - Please Help!!

For some reason, my Excel / Access drivers have disappeared from the list of available data sources when running the Import wizard or when trying to create a dts package. They are installed on the machine as I can see them through the ODBC Administrator. I have googled extensively, found some posts relating to TimeSlips (not relevant as not installed), re-installing MDAC.

Having done all the relevant stuff (updating to latest MDAC), still not coming up. Installed SQL 2005 Management Studio thinking that may help. Still nothing. Can someone please give me some advice, APART FROM RE-INSTALLING OS.

How does Import wizard pickup the available drivers, any registry settings...? Currently running XP SP2 with all the latest updates.

Need to get data uploaded to customer site from Excel spreadsheet. So any help / advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone,

I am getting the below error when I try to access the table in 2005 database through 3rd party application from the application server.

“[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Connection is busy with results for another hstmt

This database was restored from sqlserver 2000, so the ODBC connection in the application server first was pointing to 2000 database and now its dropped and recreated to point to the 2005 database.

I dont get this error message when I do the same action from my pc.

I google'd on this error message, and I am not sure if the driver has to be upgraded or if there is anything else that I am missing here.

Thanks much.

ODBC Drivers And SQLServer 2000
Has anyone run into troubles connecting to an instance of SQLServer 2000
with older Microsoft ODBC drivers. In preparation for an upgrade, I am
trying to establish if there is a minimum ODBC version that is required for
client connectivity. I remember reading about such a minimum at one point,
but I can't relocate the reference

Using SSIS To Pull From ODBC Drivers?
Hi all,

I've been tasked to do some investigation at my workplace as to the best way to move forward with changing from our SQL 2000 DTS' to SQL 2005 SSIS packages.

Our main issue at the minute seems to be that we are using ODBC drivers to pull many of the raw tables which we then manipulate into our own SQL Server tables.

I've been looking about and am I right in saying there is an issue with this in SQL 2005?

Also, I've been looking for some Tutorials to help me on this, would anyone be able to push me in the right direction of any good tutorials that would help me in fixing these issues?

Provider String For LinkedSrvr OLE DB Provider For ODBC (to Oracle RDB)

I have an ODBC connection setup for Oralce RDB. This works fine in say MSAccess. Now I would like to add a SQL Server Linked Server to this ODBC driver (it is for RDB not regular Oracle), but I am not able to get this to work. What is the Provider String and Location / Catalog for using this type of ODBC?  I setup DSN as 'name', Provider String as 'UID=user;PWD=pass;' and it seems it tries to connect but gives an error. "%SQL-F-SCHNOTDEF, Schema USER is not defined"
Any help is greatly appreciated.

MySql SSIS Hangs With ODBC Drivers
Hi, we are writting a SQL Server Integration Services package to import data from a MySql database to a Sql Database.

We are using ODBC 3.51 Drivers to connect to the MySql Database in SSIS. The package runs perfectly in design mode. When we schedule the package to run, the package seems to hang about 1/3 of the times.

What can this be. We used to the package and ran it from a Sql Server 2005 to a Sql Server 2005 database. This setup works perfectly. When i'm doing MySql to Sql Server 2005, 1/3 of the times, it does not work.

Can anyone help me with this?

Different Behaviour SQLSERVER And SQLNative ODBC Drivers
I started a thread in the security forum because when my Legacy App called sp_setApprole in an implict transaction a Begin transaction was called (approle cannot be set in transaction so fails) in SQL2005, wheras the same code succeeds against SQL2000

Have now established in a simple test bed that this is due to the use of a different ODBC driver. We used the SQLNative driver against SQL2005 when it failed. Using the SQLServer driver against SQL2005 meant that the call to sp_setapprole succeeds (ie the transaaction begins after, when required)

1) any thoughts on this?

2) Can I use the SQLServer driver against SQL2005 ? haven't seen anything that says I can or can't. As I am simply updating datastore (SQL2000 -> SQL2005) of a legacy application I don't need to access any new SQL2005 features until its completely written. If I can use the old driver has it been certified or tested against SQL2005 ?

Any assitance / guidance most welcome

SQL Server Error '80040e31' Timeout Expired Strange.

Hi All,
we are working on a web application created in ASP & SQL 2000 environment.
In the code , we have a single connectionstring to connect database.
The application was running fine for the past 3 years, but all of a sudden we are getting "timeout expired" error only in someparts of the application but not on all database access.
The code which raises this error is a bit large which need to look into table of 8k recs with more conditions.
The same sql query took 1:01 minutes to execute in query qnqlyser.
I changes the script timeout to 900secs,
I herd we need to upgrade MDAC or we need to change connection timeout or we need to cahnge the code.
we cannot change the query, it is the most possible way we could get that.
Can somebody help me with the possible solution.

Thanks & Regards,
Sai. K.K

Latest Version Of ODBC Drivers For MSQL 2000
We are suffering from dropped connections to our MSSQL server which is version:

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05 Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)

We are getting "ERROR: Prepare failed" from the application.

We suspect the ODBC drivers on the client may be old.

The ODBC driver on the client machine is version
2000.80.194.00. as taken from the driver tab in the odbc admin window.

I installed a 2000 base version of the client tools on my desktop and got an ODBC version of 2000.85.1117

I then installed the SP3a and the ODBC driver version did not change. What is the latest version of the driver for MSSQL 2000?
