Feb 20, 2008

Hi... Please help. I am having problem with my hard drive so I git a new one. I installed a new instance of SQL Server 2005 and copy over all my projects from the old hard drive into the new.

The problem is, when I open my packages specifically the data flow task it is empty. All my dataflow items are gone.

I am not sure what I am missing during the copy. Please help how I can recover my complete packages.

Thanks a lot!

Data Flow Properties Missing

Mar 21, 2008

Hi,

I have SQL Server 2005/BIDS installed on a 64-bit server. When I open an SSIS package the properties window for each of the Data Flow tasks is empty. The properties window is there and displays correctly for other types of task but for the Data Flows it only shows the name of the task. To further compound my misery if I try to open a package that dynamically sets a property of a Data Flow task (using an expression) the package fails to open with errors concerning reading the XML of the package.

Packages containing Data Flow tasks still run on this server (both in BIDS and using dtexec) as long as they don't contain expressions that set any Data Flow properties.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Finding Missing Items That Are Not In Categories

Aug 25, 2014

I am creating a report that will identify the website categories that our items are in. The purpose is to find items that are not in categories that they should be so they can be fixed. Attached is a csv of a subset of the data.

The data I attached has all of our Baskets by SKU (ItemNoSKU) and the associated web categories that those items are in. For example, we can see that ItemNoSKU AB107 is in web categories 4, 22, and 23.

What I have already done is get a Total Baskets vs Web Cat Baskets. I know the total baskets is 44:

Code:
SELECT MerchCatDesc, MerchSubCatDesc, COUNT(DISTINCT ItemNoSKU)
FROM myTable
GROUP BY MerchCatDesc, MerchSubCatDesc

And I know the number of baskets in WebCat 23 is 43:

Code:
SELECT WebCatCd,MerchCatDesc, MerchSubCatDesc, COUNT(DISTINCT ItemNoSKU)
FROM myTable
GROUP BY WebCatCd, MerchCatDesc, MerchSubCatDesc

So in this instance, I know there is 1 Basket ItemNoSKU that is not in WebCatCd 23. I need to list this "missing" ItemNoSKU along with the WebCatCd it is missing from. I am struggling on how to write the code to accomplish this for my full list of many categories and web categories.

Reporting Services :: Report Designer Tool Box Items Missing

Aug 10, 2015

I have a project with SQL sever reports in it. During a test upon returning to the VS 2013 Professional interface, the tool box area still had the previous information displayed and never returned to what should be there for the report design tools.I restarted VS, and the toolbox no longer looked like it did before. Specifically, the datatable tool among others was missing. I was unable to "refresh" the datatable after making changes to it.

I opened other Reports in design mode, and the tools did not show up for those either.The Report Items in the toolbox does contain things like Pointer, Text Box, Line and so forth.

Copy Items From One SQL Database To Another...

Apr 15, 2007

...such as stored procedures, tables etc.

Initially this started as a case of "doh, I should just be using one database here, not two", and I was simply wanting to copy database tables. In VS2K5 I tried as there is a right click menu option of copy when a table is selected but this doesn't work for me with any database object of any kind. So fast forward to the present...I now am attempting to deploy an app to a hosting service, 1&1.com. I am allowed only one database in my current package, which should be fine for now. So I had to combine the ASPNETDB along with 2 other databases. It took a bit of time, but I got everything done, I thought, and posted to the servers. While debugging I get an error saying a stored procedure can not be found. And it indeed is not.This really confuses me as I made the changes in VS2k5, shut down and restarted to make sure I didn't miss anything, then used SQL Server Man. Studio to make a .bak file to upload to my hosting service. It never occurred to me to verify the changes I made in VS2k5 were actually on the database when viewed there. Well, they aren't, and I have no idea why. That would be issue #1 I suppose.So after giving the background info here, what I am looking for help with is how to get the changes I am making in VS2k5 to also be present when viewed from SQL Server Man. Studio as the only means of posting a db to my hosting provider is by using a .bak file.Also, why is it a project template I download has a .mdf file I am not able to even see in SQL Server Man. Studio? I guess if I had this answer the issue would be resolved.TIARegards,Joe

SQL Server 2012 :: Identify Sets That Have Same Items (where Set ID And Items In Same Table)

Feb 25, 2015

I am struggling to come up with a set-based solution for this problem (i.e. that doesn't involve loops/cursors) ..A table contains items (identified by an ItemCode) and the set they belong to (identified by a SetId). Here is some sample data:

SetIdItemCode
1A
1B
24
28
26
310
312
410

[code]....

You can see that there are some sets that have the same members:

- 1 and 10
- 2 and 11
- 7, 8 & 9

What I want to do is identify the sets that have the same members, by giving them the same ID in another column called UniqueSetId.

I have an Execute SQL task in control flow to assign value to the Parameter, next step is a data flow which will need take a parameter in the SQL statement to query the Oracle source,

The SQL Looks like this:

select * from ccst_acctsys_account

where to_char(LAST_MODIFIED_DATE, 'YYYYMMDD') >?

THe problem is the OLE DB source Edit doesn€™t have anything for mapping parameter.

HELP: How Do I Pass Variables From Control Flow To Data Flow

Mar 9, 2007

I have an Execute SQL Task that returns a Full Rowset from a SQL Server table and assigns it to a variable objRecs. I connect that to a foreach container with an ADO enumerator using objRecs variable and Rows in first table mode. I defined variables and mapped them to the columns.

I tested this by placing a Script task inside the foreach container and displaying the variables in a messagebox.

Now, for each row, I want to write a record to an MS Access table and then update a column back in the original SQL Server table where I retreived data in the Execute SQL task (i have the primary key). If I drop a Data Flow Task inside my foreach container, how do I pass the variables as input to an OLE DB Destination on the Data Flow?

Also, how would I update the original source table where source.id = objRects.id?

Thank you for your assistance. I have spent the day trying to figure this out (and thought it would be simple), but I am just not getting SSIS. Sorry if this has been covered.

Thanks,

Steve

Is There A Way To Set A Variable In A Data Flow From A SQL Statement (like In Control Flow)

Jan 12, 2006

I'm currently setting variables at the package level with an ExecuteSQL task.  This works fine.  However, I'm now starting to think about restartability midway through a package.  It would be nice to have the variable(s) needed in a data flow set within the data flow so that I only have to restart that task.

Is there a way to do that using an SQL statement as the source of the value in a data flow?

OR, when using checkpoints will it save variable settings so that they are available when the package is restarted?  This would make my issue a moot point.

Data Flow Task Error To Extract Data From Sql Server To Excel

Mar 28, 2008

Hi All,

I want to export data from SQL Server2005 to an Excel spreadsheet thru "Data Flow Task". I am using OLE DB for SQL Server for the source connection and a Connection To Excel as my destination source. The Excel spreadsheet (2003) exists and has the first row with column names. I don't have any warnings before trying to execute.

The SQL datable fileds are
i) ID - Int

ii) RefID
iii) txtRemarks - nvarchar(MAX)
iv) ddlWaterLevel - nvarchar(50)

While executing the tasks, I got the error
Error: 0xC0202025 at Data Flow Task, Excel Destination [427]: Cannot create an OLE DB accessor. Verify that the column metadata is valid.
Error: 0xC004701A at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: component "Excel Destination" (427) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202025.

After analysing I found in the DataFlow --> Excel destination --> Advanced Editor for Excel Destination, the default data type for txtRemarks shows as "Unicode string [DT_WSTR]". But this is supposed to be "Unicode text stream [DT_NTEXT]". Even if I change the data type in the design time, It doesn't accept.

Please do help me out.

thanks
Sanra

Only Copy Missing Rows From One Database To Another

May 24, 2007

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to create a performant script to copy records from a table in a source database, to an identical table in a destination database.

In SQL 2000, I used to create a little lookup which did a count using certain fields. If the record was missing, I executed an INSERT query, otherwise an UPDATE query. The result was that the table on the destination side was always up to date. Duplicate rows were out of the question.

This was, if I'm not mistaking, a Data Transformation, using a bit of custom VBA code to govern the transfer. For each source row, the custom code was executed. Depending on the result of the custom code, a different query was launched.

Now I'm trying to do the same using SSIS in SQL 2005. Is there a task which does this for me, or do I have to script again? In the latter case, which type of task would I use?

(I thought of the Script Task, but then I would need to set up quite a bit myself.)

Thank you,

Bram

Copy And Paste Control Flow Item Error

Mar 26, 2008

Hi,

I'm trying to copy and paste an 'Execute SQL Tasks' within one of my packages.

I've managed to solve the copy part of the problem by registering the following dlls:

regsvr32.exe msxml3.dll
regsvr32.exe msxml6.dll
However, I can't paste the copied task onto my control flow. When I paste I get the following error:

The designer could not paste one or more executables.
Additional information:
At least one executable could not be pasted correctly.
the executable with the name 'Record Row Count' could not be pasted successfully.
Information about the state of the executable with the name

Exception from HRESULT: 0xC0010028 (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Design)

Any help getting this fixed would be appreciated.

Lookup Task Data Flow Transformation Causes Data Flow Task To Hang?

Dec 28, 2007

Hi,
I'm trying to implement an incremental data pull (Oracle to SQL) based on Andy's blog:
http://sqlblog.com/blogs/andy_leonard/archive/2007/07/09/ssis-design-pattern-incremental-loads.aspx

My development machine is decent: 1.86 GHz, Intel core 2 CPU, 3 GB of RAM.
However it seems the data flow task gets hung whenever I test the package against the ~6 million row source, as can be seen from these screenshots. I have no memory limitations on the lookup transformation. After the rows have been cached nothing happens. Memory for the dtsdebug process hovers around 1.8 GB and it uses 1-6 percent of CPU resources continuously. I am not using fast load to insert new records into my sql target table. (I am right clicking Sequence Container 3 and executing this container NOT the entire package in the screenshots)

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/2.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/3.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/4.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/5.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/6.jpg

The same package works fine against a similar test table with 150k rows.
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/7.jpg
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg168/boston_sql92/8.jpg

The weird thing is it only takes 24 minutes for a full refresh of the entire source table from Oracle to the SQL target table.
Any hints,advice would be appreciated.

Please Help This Should Be Simple Trying To Use Variables With A Copy DB Control Flow, Ssis Reports Following Error:

Why isn't there some documentation on how to do this. This should be really simple and it has taken me 2 weeks and I still haven't gotten an answer. Please Help Does anyone know the answner or some place where there is some documentation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get the following error when I try to substitute the strings in the databasedetails collection with variables:
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. I created the following variables:
strDestinationDB = AirCL2Exp_new3
strDestinationDBPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDATAAirCL2Exp_new3_Data.mdf
strDestinationLGPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDATAAirCL2Exp_new3_Data.ldf

strSourceDBPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDataDataNewAirCL2Exp_Data.mdf
strSourceLGPath = C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.2MSSQLDataDataNewAirCL2Exp_Log.ldf

I then assigned those variable to DatabaseDetails Collection:

DatabaseName = @strSourceDB
DestinationDatabaseName = @strDestinationDB

Inaddtion I also assigned the following to the two DatabaseFiles Collection:
for 0:
DatabaseFileSize = 0
DestinationFilePath = @strDestinationDBPath
FileType = DatabaseFile
SourceFilePath = @strSourceDBPath
SourceSharePath = @strSourceDBPath

for 1:
DatabaseFileSize = 0
DestinationFilePath = @strDestinationLGPath
FileType = LogFile
SourceFilePath = @strSourceLGPath
SourceSharePath = @strSourceLGPath

Data Missing When Loading Data Into Sql Server 2005

Jan 17, 2008

Hi, Experts

The project is a C/S data analysis system built with .Net 2.0 in windows environment, OS: Microsoft Windows 2003 R2 standard Edition Service Pack2, Database used in this project is: Sql server 2005. As a data analysis system, we need to load large amount of data from file to database, we do it by create a dts package and then do data loading by execute "m_Package.Execute(null, variables, m_PackageEvents, null, null)".

We found that some of the data field become 'null' after the load action finished, if we load the same data again, problem disappeared, we can't 100% reproduce this issue each time, we don't know why, Anybody here can help us to solve this issue or give us some clue?

Question On Data Flow In SQL SERVER 2005

Apr 8, 2008

I have a dtspkg in SQL 2000 That used to extract data from one SQL Server and loand it into Another SQL SERVER.
There are abt 15 tbls, that I extract from the SAME source SQL Server to Same destn SQL Server. When I mgrate this pkg to SQL SERVER 2005, Does this mean, I have to setup 15 DIFF Data flow for each source and destn table? if so the pkg is going to look very complicated. Since my Source sqls erver and destn sql server is the same, is there no way I can do this data extract in 1 data flow only, instead of 15 diff ones? Are any other options u recommed? Pl advise.

Data Flow From SQL Server To Excel - 'Cannot Create An OLE DB Accessor'

Mar 7, 2008

Hello all,

I am creating an SSIS package that takes data from a SQL Server 2005 table, adds some columns, programatically changes some values based on business requirements, and then writes the output to an Excel template which I've already prepared. Everything seems to work fine, but the package always errors out when immediately after it hits the Excel Destintation component, with the following errors:

Error: 0xC0202009 at Process Quarterly Data, Export to Excel [12621]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.
Error: 0xC0202025 at Process Quarterly Data, Export to Excel [12621]: Cannot create an OLE DB accessor. Verify that the column metadata is valid.
Error: 0xC004701A at Process Quarterly Data, DTS.Pipeline: component "Export to Excel" (12621) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202025.

I have verified that the Excel destination file is writing the correct headers to the specified file. I thought that the issue might be that one of the dynamically created columns isn't matching the Excel file, so I manually checked each and every one of them (there are 248 columns, although a lot of them aren't really used - however, we are required to use the template provided , so must include fields in the specified order whether or not they have any data) and made sure that I selected the exact same datatype for each column. However, I still get the error and no rows are written to the Excel file.

Here is the code generated by the Excel Destination Manager:

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong? I'm making an attempt to set up a process for the company, instead of throwing something together; while that would be much quicker (I've spent pretty much the whole day working on this), lack of processes are a big detriment to our current operations.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm not that familiar with SSIS or its nuances just yet.

Sampling Data Set Via Integration Services Data Flow For Data Mining Models Without Saving Training And Test Data Set?

Nov 24, 2006

Hi, all here,

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

I am wondering if it is possible to use SSIS to sample data set to training set and test set directly to my data mining models without saving them somewhere as occupying too much space? Really need guidance for that.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

SQL Server 2012 :: Dynamically Map Metadata In A Data Flow Task

Oct 1, 2014

I am tasked with truncating and reloading tables from one server to another. Company policy prevents cross-server queries, but allows SSIS packages with cross-server connections. I am doing this for about 25 tables. I have the table names in a single table & I have created an FEL to execute tasks against each table one-by-one. It works fine to truncate all the tables. I run into issues, though, with the DataFlowTask. I'm able to tell it which server & table to dynamically connect from and to, but it doesn't know how to map the metadata. They're the exact same columns and field names in both source & destination.

Sql Server Compact Edition Data Source Missing In Server Explorer

Trying to learn how to use Sql Server CE, Tutorial says to open server explorer, add connection, new connection, select data source as .net sql ce (words to that effect). On my visual studio, it ain't there and I can't figure out how to get it there. I have uninstall all of the Sql Ce stuff and reinstalled it. So I'm missing some key link. What are the magic incantations to get to first base?

SQL Server 2012 :: Missing Text Data

Jul 15, 2014

Today I have a very similar situation, only today I am dealing with missing text data, not numeric data.

DECLARE @MissingTextData TABLE
(
RowID int
,UserID int
, EmailAddress varchar(20)
,StreetAddress varchar(20)

[code]...

I would like to fill in the NULL columns with data from the other row, and then select the one row that is filled with all data. I was able to use MAX() for a numeric value, but I am really stumped on the text data. Everything that I have tried is not working.

Need To Save A Value From Data Flow A To Use In Data Flow B

Mar 20, 2007

Good morning, all,

I am working on importing an Excel workbook, saved as multiple CSV flat files, that has both group level data and related detail row on the same sheet. I have been able to import the group data into a table. As part of the Data Flow task, I want to be able to save the key value for the group, which I will use when I insert the detail rows.

My Data Flow has the following components: The flat file with the data, which goes to a derived column transformation to strip out extraneous dashes, which leads to the OLEDB Destination component.

I want to save the value as a package level variable, so that I can reference it in another dataflow.

Is this possible, and if so, at what point do I save the value?

Thanks,
Kathryn
