&&"Package Failed Validation From The ExecutePackage Task&&" Error

I have an SSIS package which calls two other SSIS packages as part of it's control flow (using the Execute Package task). Both packages are stored in the same parent folder on the same server. The first child package runs successfully, the second does not. It ran fine for days until yesterday. Not sure what I might have done. I have tried to delay validation and recreate the connection. No go. Has anyone else run into this. I am running SQL 2005 RTM and VS 2005 RTM on XP Pro SP2. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Package Validation Error : The Package Designer Deletes The Code From Script Task.
While Creating a script task in Control Flow, I am getting "Package Validation Error". Here is the complete message:

Error at Validate File and  Load Data: The task is configured to pre-compile the script, but binary code is not found. Please visit the IDE in Script Task Editor by clicking Design Script button to cause binary code to be generated.
 (Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)

As mentioned in the message, I opened the script IDE and added the code I need. When I close the VSA IDE, package designer displays the same error message.

The worst part of whole story is that if I close the package designer and reopen it, I find that all the code I wrote in the script task has been deleted by the package designer. This is not at all acceptable as I saved the package the and still lost all my work. I did all the coding from scratch for that task.

Please respond if anyone faced similar problem.

Thanks in advance!

Anand

PS: If any one from Microsoft is reading this, please see what you guys are coding there. Due to the buggy software you deliver, I am loosing my credibility.<P< P>

ExecutePackage Task Global Variables

I'm trying to pass a global variable from a DTS package to the child packages that it calls using ExecutePackage tasks.  I have selected the child's global variable on the Inner Global Variable tab and I have selected the parent's global variable on the Outer Global Variable tab.  That doesn't work.  Whatever I type into the Value column of the Inner Global Variable tab gets passed to the child package.  How do I get the parent's global variable passed to the child package?  Do I need to set the value on the Inner Global Variable tab to some special word to make it look for the parent's global variable?  If I set it to nothing, nothing gets passed.

I have been able to make this work using an ActiveX Script task.  I can set the Inner Global Variable value of the Task object to the parent's global variable value, but that's not the clean solution I'm looking for.  There must be a simple way to do this because Microsoft's documentation brags about this feature, but they don't explain exactly how to do it.

Thanks

Ssis Package Failed Validation Even ProtectionLevel Set As EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey In Studio 2005

'OLE DB Destination' Failed Validation Error
Hi,

I'm developing a SSIS package and am coming across this problem:

"Error at myTable [DTS.Pipeline]: component 'OLE DB Destination' (156) failed validation and returned error code 0xC020801C.

Here's the situation with my package.  It basically consists of a bunch of tasks to build a database and populate the tables from an Excel file.

The first task runs a SQL file to create all my DB tables, etc.  The next set of tasks import data from the Excel file into the tables.  All tasks have precedence constraints so that the SQL file will build the DB tables first.

Here's the problem.  Everything works perfectly if my database ALREADY exists.  The problem comes when the database does not exist.  It seems like the SSIS does some sort of schema validation on my dataflow tasks to ensure that everything is ok.

Is there any way to bypass this validation so that my SSIS will run ok without the DB already existing?  I know that everything WILL be ok because the ExecuteSQL task will create the structure for me.

I used to work with SQL 2000 DTS, and i never ran into this problem before.  Previously, i could run the DTS no problem, however, i just couldn't open the transformations if the DB didn't exist.

Thanks.

Task Failed To Validate &&"No Schema To Use In Validation Was Found.&&".
I have a package with an XML Task with OperationType = Validate.  The source is a string variable and the second operand is a file connection to a schema file.  The schema file <include>'s other schemas.  I run the package in debug mode in Visual Studio with no errors.  I exit Visual Studio.  Then I open Visual Studio again and run the package in debug mode like before and it fails in the xml task with error: "Task failed to validate "No schema to use in validation was found.".  I don't understand why it fails since no changes were made.  The strange thing is that if I click the File Connection Manager for the schema file and click Browse and then reselect the same schema file again then it runs OK.  Note that I have to exit Visual Studio and not just close the package in order to repro the error.  It seems like exiting Visual Studio frees some resource that is essential to the validation.  Reselecting the schema file in the Connection Manager seems to restore the resource. Execute Package Task Error: Failed To Decrypt Protected XML Node &&"DTS:Password&&"
I have a package (PackageA) with an Execute Package Task that execs PackageB.  When I run PackageA I get this error on the Execute Package Task :

Failed to decrypt protected XML node "DTS:Password" with error 0x8009000B "Key not valid for use in specified state.". You may not be authorized to access this information. This error occurs when there is a cryptographic error. Verify that the correct key is available.

PackageB has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel.  I'm providing passwords in the dtsConfig so I'm guessing I should change it to 'DontSaveSensitive'?

Interestingly, PackageA also has 'EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey' ProtectionLevel, but I don't get an error about PackageA, just on the task that runs PackageB.

(SP1 is installed).

Implementing Transaction In SSIS Package - [Execute SQL Task] Error: Failed To Acquire Connection &&"&&<ConnectionName&&>&&".
I have a simple SSIS package with three "Execute SQL Tasks". I am using ADO.Net Connection to execute SPs on a DB server.

When I execute this package It works fine. So far so good.

Now, I need to implement transation on this package. And problem starts now onwards. When I try to execute package after setting TransationOption = Required for the Sequence container which contains all the tasks, I get following error.

[Execute SQL Task] Error: Failed to acquire connection "NYCDB0008.Export". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.

"NYCDB0008.Export" is the name of the ADO.Net connection. I have been hunting for any solution but all in vain. I have tried changing all DTC settings on the dev as well as Database server.

Please respond if anyone has any solution.

Thanks!

Package Validation Error
I have a package which takes a text file and imports data into a SQL table.  It returns the Package Validation Error:

Error at Data Flow Task [SQL Server Destination [1430]]: Failure inserting into the read-only column "ZipCode".

The column ZipCode in the sql table is a varchar(50) column.  I do not understand why it thinks the column is a read only column; if someone could shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Trapping Package Validation Error
Hello,

I created a new SSIS Package.  I want to send an e-mail when an error occurrs.

I set the OnError event to send an e-mail. I then decided to test this so I dropped my input SQL table.  When I drop the import SQL table I get a Package Validation Error and I don't get my e-mail.

Am I making a mistake.  I want to always send an e-mail when an error occurrs in my SSIS package.

By the way I did add an e-mail at the end of my SSIS package to verify my SMTP is working - it did.

Thanks,

Michael

Package Validation Error + Code 0xC004801C
Hi,

I am learning to use SSIS for creating packages. I am getting the following error when I try to execute my package...

Package Validation Error

Error at Data Flow Task[DTS. Pipeline]:The "runtime connection "FlatFileConnection "(122)" in the connection manager collection, Connections, of component "Flat File Destination ("120") does not have a value for the ID property. Verify that the ConnectionManagerID property of the runtime connection object has been set for the component.

Error at Data Flow Task [DTS.Pipeline]: component "Flat File Destination" (120) failed validation and returned error code 0xC004801C.

Error at Data Flow Task[DTS.Pipeline]: One or more component failed validation.

Error at Data Flow Task: There were errors during task validation.

(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.VsIntegration)

I'd appreciate if someone can help me with this. Do I need to change some settings?  Also, what does the number in brackets indicate, say in FlatFileConnection(122)? Is it valuable information while debugging?

Just to give an idea, my package is like this -

source FlatFile ->  Derived Column -> Lookup1 ->Lookup2 ->OLE DB destination(SQL server DB table)

Lookup1 and Lookup2 have error redirected to one flat file destination each.

Thanks in advance!

SSIS Job Fails For Package Containing Script Task With Error &"The Script Files Failed To Load.&"
I have developed a SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (SSIS) package that includes a Script Task on a 32-bit machine.  The PrecompileScriptIntoBinaryCode property is set to True.  After I build the package, the .dtsx file includes a <BinaryItem> element for that Task.  Package runs fine on the dev machine, both in BIDS and as SQL Server Agent job.
When I deploy the package to a 64-bit server, it runs fine when I execute the package ad hoc from SQL Server Management Studio.  However, when I schedule the package for execution as a SQL Server Agent job, the package fails with the message: "the script files failed to load."
I have reviewed posts on this error from late 2005, but the solutions don't work in this case.  Specifically:
1. The Precompile property is already set to True.
2. I have already verified that the script was compiled.
Any further suggestions?

How To Programmatically Detect The Failed Task After Executing The Package
SSIS Experts,

I am executing a child package programmatically  and want few lines of code to detect cause of the failure on the fly. One way will be to run the child package through dtexec command uility. But on the fly i will be assigning few values in Parent package variable to the child variables and finally run the child package. Since we cannot apply expressions or use precendence constraints in place, It seems that we are left with only choice to programmatically detect errors in tasks. In DTS, it was achieved this way:

Code Snippet

For Each ostep In oPkg

If ostep.ExecutionResult = DTSStepExecResult_Failure Then

ProcessSubDTSPackage = DTSTaskExecResult_Failure

End If

Next

Execute Package Task Failed When Deployed To Server..
Hi,

I have a package that contains an Execute Package Task...   it works fine when on my local machine and on our test-server.
After deploying the SSIS solution to our customers server, I open the project in Visual Studio and run the mainPackage in debug mode and the Task fails when trying to execute the package..   if I remove everything in the childpackage it still fails... the path to the package is correct and I know that I have rigths to execut it. I do not use any package security/encryption..
If i create a new package in the project and create a new fileconnection to it the Execute Package Task executes correctly, with the exact same content as the original package...

So my guess is that something in the FileConnetion object is set wrong, but i cannot understand what it is. The errormessage i get is something like this. "Execute Package Failed. Could not execute package".

Anyone had the same problem as I? I´m grateful for any help!

Task Failed, SSIS Package Reporting Success
I'm debugging a SSIS package in Visual Studio and I have a task that failes but the overall package is reporting success.  The deployed package in SQL2005 is doing the same thing.

Task failed: FactVisitApplicationInventory

SSIS package "PACE to PACE DW PROD.dtsx" finished: Success.

The program '[4652] PACE to PACE DW PROD.dtsx: DTS' has exited with code 0 (0x0).

I have set FailPackageOnFailure=True, FailParentOnFailure=True, and MaximumErrorCount=0 on this task and am executing just this single task in Studio and I can't get the Package to report a failure.

Any ideas?

This Task Or Container Has Failed, But Because FailPackageOnFailure Property Is FALSE, The Package Will Continue.
This task or container has failed, but because FailPackageOnFailure property is FALSE, the package will continue. This warning is posted when the SaveCheckpoints property of the package is set to TRUE and the task or container fails.

I have just spotted the message above in one of my log files.

I've never noticed it before. Is it new in SP1? I'm guessing it must be.

If so - good job.  This is a very important addition because the behaviour of checkpoints without setting FailPackageOnFailure=TRUE is not intuitive (in my opinion).

Load A SSIS Package Via Web Service: The Package Failed To Load Due To Error 0xC0011008 &&"Error Loading From XML.WHAT IS THAT?
Hello,

I have a big problem and i'm not able to find any hint on the Network.

I have a window2000 pc, VS2005,II5 and SQLServer 2005(dev edition)

I created an SSIS Package (query to DB and the result is loaded into an Excel file) that works fine.

I imported the dtsx file inside my "Stored Packages".

I would like to load and run the package programmatically on a Remote Scenario using the web services.

I created a solution with  web service and web page that invoke the web service.

When my code execute:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Application.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, ".", Nothing)

I got the Error:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.DtsRuntimeException: The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008 "Error loading from XML. No further detailed error information can be specified for this problem because no Events object was passed where detailed error information can be stored.". This occurs when CPackage::LoadFromXML fails.

The error message doesn't help so much and there is nothing on the www to give me and advice....

Is it a SSIS problem???

Thank you for any help!!

Execute Package Task: Error 0x80070005 While Preparing To Load The Package. Access Is Denied.
I am having problems executing a child package from a parent package using the Execute Package Task. I am attempting to run the master package through a SQL Server Agent job.

The SQL Server Agent job is owned by sa. The step that runs the parent package is configured to load the package from the SSIS Package Store on the same server that the job is running.

I have the Execute Package Task configured as follows:

Location: SQL Server
ExecuteOutOfProcess: True
Connecting as a SQL Server login (let's say TestEtl)

I have added the db_dtsoperator database role to both the TestEtl login and the login that SQL Server Agent connects through. I have also configured the child package's reader role to include db_dtsoperator. Per http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms141053.aspx, this should allow these logins to run the child package.

I have enabled logging of all events in both the parent and child packages. I see the following in the logs when the Execute Package Task executes (omitted portions unrelated to the execution of the child package task):

Error Creating Package - Failed To Save Package File &&"... Emp EmpD4B.tmp&&" With Error 0x80040154 &&"Class Not Registered&&"
I had just installed SQL 2005 dev on my laptop and got an error message when I tried to create a package using the BI IDE. I received the same error using VS2005 IDE. But the project was created regardless without any packages. When I tried to create a new package in the project, I received the same error again, but with an option to view the error details.

Following is the text of the error details:

TITLE: Microsoft Visual Studio
------------------------------

Error creating package

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I found a similar post that suggested that they try the following:

regsvr32 msxml3.dll
regsvr32 msxml4.dll
regsvr32 msxml6.dll

But msxml6.dll could not be found.

I did get a copy of this file from a coworker, and after copying it and registering it, I was able to add a package to the project.

My concern now is what is the likelyhood of this being the only file missing from the installation.

I'm wondering if I should reinstall, or (if it exists) do a repair on the installation.

Thanks.

DTS Package Error Using Execute Package Task
I created a single DTS package with 12 DTS packages in it by using execute package task. Every night the DTS runs and loads the data from mas90 soa files into the sql tables. It's been running fine for 2 weeks and since last few days I was getting the error "Execution was canceled by user" and also attached the detailed error below.
Then did the following tests manually:
Test1. Opened the single DTS packgae which has 12 packages in it and then tried to execute one of the dts package and after a while got the error "Execution was canceled by user"
Test2: Opened one of the 12 individual packages and tried to execute, it ran fine, no problem.
So this is making me to think that because of having 12 dts in a single dts package where I used execute package task, that's what is causing this error. If so, what options I have in order to run 12 dts packages at the same time, any help is greatly appreciated as this is happening in our production database.

Here is the error from the error log:

Execute Package Fails Due To Package Validation
There is an execute package task that calls the child package.  Both parent and child packages have the same password and the passwork is entered into the execute package task.  Both packages reside in the same directory path.

Error: Error 0xC0012050 while loading package file "C:Documents and SettingsuserMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005ProjectsExecutePackageTestExecutePackageTestExtractandWrite.dtsx". Package failed validation from the ExecutePackage task. The package cannot run.

When ExtractandWrite.dtsx is executed by right-clicking on package, the package executes without any errors.

DelayValidation = True for the Execute Package Task tasks is set and DelayValidation for the connection manager is set to True.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what might be causing this error?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Parameter Validation Failed
I've developed a report which works fine when I preview it in the Visual Studio report designer, but when it is uploaded to our report server and I try to access it via Internet Explorer, I get an error message saying: "
Parameter validation failed. It is not possible to provide valid values for all parameters. (rsParameterError) "

How would I know exactly which parameter is causing this problem?  I've built a couple of reports in the past and they worked fine.  The only thing I can think of which is different in this report is that I have a couple of date parameters - Start Date and End Date, which allows the user to select a date range for the data they want to view.

In the SQL Server database, the date value is defined as SmallDateTime and in the Report Parameters the data type is defined as DateTime.

In the database there are Nulls and blanks in some of the fields - could this be the cause of the error?

Miscrosoft Integration Services Gives An Error Of Sript Task Failed
In our package we have a script task that renames the files in the server (Windows 2003)  where the package is deployed.

When we execute the project from the development environment(IDE), then it works fine and doesn't give any error.

However, when we deploy the package after configuring the Configuration file properly, then it throws up a "Script Task Failed" error and the the package execution fails.

We checked all the variable values from the development environment in the current package. The child variables take the variable values from the parent package and the configuration file.

It works fine, which implies that there is no problem with the script (This same script was working perfectly earlier -  We have made NO changes to the script task.)

Another issue is that we are not able to debug the script task even if we put breakpoints in the script. The control flow simply doesn't stop at the breakpoints.

XML Task - Validation Fails
Now is this a limitation in SSIS or am I missing something. I have an XML file that needs validation. I am using the 'XML Task' control for that. The validation runs fine so long as the file is below a certain size. I am not sure what the cutoff size is but the validation runs fine if the XML file size is 60Mb. I include a few more records in my XML file to make the file size 65Mb and run ETL again and validation fails!

There is not much detail in the error message other than 'Task XML Validation failed'. I dont think there should be any kind of timeout issue. The whole process takes less than a minute before failing.

The issue is definately not with the new records that get added. I have verified the new file with xmlspy and it validates just fine. I have also validated the newly added records (5 Mb) through the same ETL process and that runs fine too.

Please suggest if I should spend time finding what the issue is or simply move on assuming its a known bug? Has any one experienced this?

Thanks,

Sumeet

XML Task Validation - No Detailed Errors
I am using the XML Task to validate an XML file against the XSD schema.
Everything works fine, but about detailed errors in the case of the failed validation?

1) I specified €œOperationsResult€? Destination property to save the task execution outcome into a file.
2) Also, I turned on all possible events for logging.

Unfortunately, neither option produces a detailed validation error message.
Option 1 saves one single word €œtrue€? or €œfalse€? to a file.
Logging produces the following message:
Task failed to validate "A validation error occurred when validating the instance document.".

As end result, it is impossible to pinpoint the problem with the xml file and, consequently, fix the issue.

The expected behavior should be a detailed error message like the following (produced by StylusStudio):
file:///c:/temp/fafa/feed_bad.xml:12824,52: Datatype error: Type:InvalidDatatypeFacetException,
Message:Value '244212' must be less than or equal to MaxInclusive '4'.

It shows a precise location of the error in the XML file plus the specific XSD rule which failed.

Any idea what could be done to get the detailed error message for the XML Task Validation?

Regards,
Yitzhak

Execute Package Task Error With UNC
Hi All,
I have strange problem. I have a package task that is setup to run a package from a file source. The package ran fine originally but VS placed a shared drive letter for the path. I went back to change it to a UNC path and now the package fails and gives an error saying the connection is not valid and that it failed validation. Going back into the connection manager to check the path and it looks good, even pressing the Browse button shows the correct directory.

What am I doing wrong?

SSIS Package Task Error
I'm working with 2005 SSIS and am getting the below error associated with a query when
I try and set up a package that runs other package tasks.  It errors in the Package Name (..) lookup after I enter what appears to be a validate location (sql server) and connection information.

I located a post suggesting to add an mmc certificate but that did not seem to help.

I'm sort of assuming that if it was id/passwd related i'd get a more specific error..

Any info would be much appreciated...Thx Owen

Error Handling With Execute Package Task
I have a main package that calls several other packages using Execute Package Tasks.  I also have OnPreExecute, OnPostExecute, and OnError event handlers at the package level to audit the beginning and completion of each package.  I want to prevent each task from bubbling up to the package event handlers as well as prevent each task from bubbling up to the main package event handlers.  I've tried setting the Propagate variable for each of the event handlers to False and setting the DisableEventHandlers property of each task to True but neither solution seems to work.  Is there a way to do this that I'm missing?
