SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Error, Hotfix Download?

Hello I am attempting install CRM Server 3.0 R2 using SQL Server 2005 SP2.
On install of CRM Server 3.0 R2 I receive a SQL Server reporting services error:

Setup failed to validate specified Reporting Services Report Server http://jupiter/reportserver. Error: The feature: "Customizing security roles" is not supported in this edition of Reporting Services.

There is a hotfix available here: 935922
But how can I get the hotfix and why is this hotfix not simply available for download as per other bug fixes?

Now stcuk with no way to move forward.

BTW anyone who has SBS2003 R2 and wants to get CRM server/client setup to work with Outlook 2003 and Vista read here 935922
But how can I get the hotfix and why is this hotfix not simply available for download as per other bug fixes?

BTW anyone who has SBS2003 R2 and wants to get CRM server/client setup to work with Outlook 2003 and Vista read here http://www.teknobot.co.uk/archives/category/tech. Its better than any other MS article Ive found so far. Why MS realease action pack software that simply do not work with each other is beyond me, SBS always gets the dirty end of the stick.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Reporting Services Error After Installing Sql Server 2005 Sp2
Please help!

I have an asp.net 2.0 web app that integrates with reporting services. Since installing sql server 2005 sp2 I get the following error when trying to access reports:

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)

This data source is configured to use Windows integrated security. Windows integrated security is either disabled for this report server or your report server is using Trusted Account mode. (rsWindowsIntegratedSecurityDisabled)

I've checked the directory security for the report server website in IIS and integrated windows authentication is checked.

I can't understand what has caused the problem, before sp2 the reports were working fine.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Andy

Error During First Configuration After Installing Reporting Services (SQL Server 2005 Express)
Hi,

I have problem during first configuration of Reporting Services from MS SQL 2005 Server Express with Advanced Services SP2. The error occurs when configuring virtual directory (Reporting Services Configuration Manager -> Report Server Virtual Directory). When I try to create new virtual directory I can see following messages:

Number of errors: 0
Create Virtual Directory

The virtual directory was created and assigned.
Changing Secure Connection Level

After last message Windows reports that SQL Server 2005 Reporting Configuration Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close (and I can send report to Microsoft).

IIS shows that virtual directory under default web site was created.

Evenet viewer (application log) shows .NET Framework 2.0 error:
EventType clr20r3, P1 rsconfigtool.exe, P2 9.0.3042.0, P3 45cd6ee2, P4 rsconfigtool, P5 9.0.242.0, P6 45cd6ee2, P7 15a, P8 5, P9 system.nullreferenceexception, P10 NIL

My environment:
MS SQL Reporting Services Version 9.00.3042.00
Windows XP Proffessional SP2
IIS 5.1
all components are fresh new installations. The only additional configuration I've made was adding IWAM_<hostname> as WebServiceAccount, all other configuration is default.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards
Slawomir Nasiadka

Ajax Error After Installing Reporting Services On SQL Server 2005 Default Instance
I recently installed reporting services on a Windows 2003 server running SQL 2005 Developer's edition with SP2. I reapplied SP2 after installing Reporting Services. According to the Reporting Services Configuration Tool the report server is up and running. It's a clean install so there are no reports, but when I attempt to go to http://localhost/reportserver or the named instance http://<computer_name>/reportserver I get the following error.

An internal error occurred on the report server. See the error log for more details. (rsInternalError) Get Online Help
Could not load file or assembly 'Ajax' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. (X:YZwwwweb.config line 85)
Could not load file or assembly 'Ajax' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

I looked at line 85 in the web.config file:

<add verb="POST,GET" path="ajax/*.ashx" type="Ajax.PageHandlerFactory, Ajax" />

The ajax.dll file resides in
X:YZwwwin

I have copied the ajax.dll to the system32 directory as a quick fix, but I continue to receive the same error.

Any suggestions?

Microsoft Access and browse to my Access database. After I select the database I see it open briefly as if it is trying to import the reports but then Access quickly closes and a error pops up: "You already have the database open." I have checked and double checked and the database is not open. I have even tried several different databases and the same errror occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Error With Reporting Services 2005
Hi,

I'm working with Vista + IIS7 + SQL Server 2005 SP2 (trial version entreprise) . When I try to access on this url : http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx, I have the error : "The reports server is not responding. Make sure it is operational and accessible from that computer.", and when I try to access on the other url : http://localhost/ReportServer/, the error is : "Erreur HTTP 500.0 - Internal Server Error". Virtuals Folders "Reports" and "ReportServer" have been correctly created in IIS7 and services of MSSQLSERVER have been correctly launched.
Do you have any idea?

Thanks in advance,

Michael Pailloncy

Where To Download SQL 2005 Reporting Service?

Hi all,

Can someone tell me where to download the SQL 2005 Reporting Service? I looked all over the MSDN subscriber download site and could not find it.

And I have the SQL 2005 developer edition DVD, could not find the reporting service in there either. Is the SQL 2005 Reporting Service now available only in the SQL 2005 enterprise DVD or something?

Thanks

SQL 2005 - Reporting Services Configuration Error.. Pls Help..
Hi,

I've installed SQL 2005 on a Windows 2003 R2 Server, I also installed another Web Server (Another Windows 2003 R2 Server) on a different machine.
I've installed the Reporting Services on the Web Server.
When I am trying to configure the report server, I successfully created the Virtual Directories, but when trying to do the "Database Setup" step, I am getting an error on the "Create a Grants Rights Script", with this message:

As a result, I cannot run the reports nor get to the folder.aspx page on the manager side of the application.
I am getting this HTML msg:
The report server installation is not initialized. (rsReportServerNotActivated) (rsRPCError) Get Online Help

When installing the Reporing Server on the SQL Server machine, it works with no problems, and I am doing everything the same.

Would appreciate your help, I've been working on this for few days with no luck.

Thank you!

Migrate From 32bit 2000 Reporting Services To 2005 64bit Reporting Services

Hello,

I am trying to migrate my reports from SQL server 2000 reporting services 32bit to 2005 64bit. I am following the migration steps that MS specified.
Restored my Reportserver and ReportserverTempDB databases
Then I was using the configure Report services to upgrade these databases but I always end up getting the follwoing exception when I run the upgrade on the "Database Setup" configuration for 'ReportServerTempDB' database
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB'. No entry found with that name. Make sure that the name is entered correctly.

 at Microsoft.ReportingServices.Common.DBUtils.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)
 at ReportServicesConfigUI.SqlClientTools.SqlTools.ApplyScript(String connectionString, String script)

It's driving me crazy, why is it looking for 'ReportServerTempDBTempDB' in the catalog instead of 'ReportServerTempDB'?
Is it possible to migrate from 32bit to 64bit?

Any help is appreciated

SQL 2005 Reporting Services SP2 Integration With MOSS 2007 SSL Error
Hi,

I have just installed RS and SP2 on a server running a MOSS 2007 (with SSL using an internal certificate) and configured RS to work on Sharepoint Integrated Mode. Then I went to Sharepoint to configure RS options, but when I tried to set up the Set Servers Defaults I receive the following error:

Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> Server was unable to process request. ---> The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. ---> The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure.

Also, when I try to deploy a report from SQL BI Development Studio to Sharepoint, I receive the error:

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Problem
Hi there,I have a problem that's beginning to do my head in and hope someonecan help!!!I've got a SQL Server 2005 database which is partly encrypted(certaincolumns per table are encrypted).I have two different passwords for two different symmetric keys andthese passwords are in turn stored encrypted in the registry, to beretrieved by an app, decrypted and then passed to the relevantsymmetric key to decrypt the relevant data in a table.I've written an application that's allows certain admins to changethese encrypted registry passwords and symmetric key passwords attheir will. The SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services is all set up with certainreports (one of the symmetric keys locks down a column that says whocan access reports, whilst the other protects the actual data thatthereports show) and all works fine until I change the symmetric keythatprotects the reports access list.I then get an error saying it can't establish a connection to thedatabase. (I know it's actually getting into the table to see I havereporting access though as I've stepped through all the code)I've tried a dummy test by encrypting a column, changing thesymmetrickey and then retrieving the data and I get back the plain text Iexpect. The error suggests that changing the symmetric key password blocksaccess to the data, but my dummy tests have proved otherwise.I'm new to reporting services.......is there something containedwithin a reporting solution or the reports themselves that wouldrelate to the symmetric key? Am I being daft? Am I overlookingsomething stupid? To change the password I open the existing symmetric key, addencryption with a new password, drop encryption with the existingpassword and then close the key.Sorry if some of this doesn't make sense - it's quite complicated.Feel free to ask any more questions if you don't understandsomething.I've spent 1.5 days on this now and I'm at the end of my tether! Thanks in advance,Michael.

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services On Vista
I have installed the reporting services and followed KB934164 without any issues. Everthing is running fine. The question I have is on security on vista. I am running my vista machine a non-admin. I gave myself the neccessary permissions to administrate the report server so that that Site settings link appears in the upper right corner. However, if I run the browser locally from my vista maching the link does not appear. If I run it from another machine ( my XP machine connecting to the vista machine) it appears like it is suppose to.

Also, when I connect the the reportserver from the Vista machine is states I do not have permission to access but if I browse to the vista machine from my XP machine I do have permisission.

Would this be related to trusted sites? The KB stated I needed to add my vista machine to the trusted site but it is controled with group policy and I do not have access to do that.

Thanks for your comments.

Sql Server Reporting Services 2005 Limitations
Hi,

Apologies for the generic subject heading but I have a client who at my suggestion has implemented a reporting solution using SSRS. However, we are now finding serious limitations with this solution, primarily regarding exporting matrix data to Excel. The major concern is that after exporting matrix data you cannot sort, filter or format properly as we cannot repeat the group data, merged cells is also another big problem.

They are now seriously looking at bringing in different technology to address these problems and I was wondering if anybody had any positive ideas, as to how I can provide a way forward and overcome our issues?

Can I easily add an add-in to the existing export options, does SQL 2008 offer any improvements, are there any 3rd party offerings out there?

Grateful for any advice.

Repairing SQL Server 2005 And Reporting Services

Is there a way to reinstall other than removing and reinstalling SQL Server? If I have to reinstall, is there a way to remove it without losing my existing databases and report files?

The OS is XP Pro.

Need A Quick Answer About Reporting Services In SQL Server 2005?
Hi all,

I apologize in advance for the lack of homework before posting, but I am just looking for a quick answer, or a quick point in the right direction to figure this out.

I have a developer from an adjacent team that wants to use Reporting Services in a SQL Server 2005 installation.

From what I found online during what I thought was a definitive search yesterday, I gave him the MSDN SQL Server 2005 DVD and told him that Reporting Services is now part of the standard installation. Which is what my brief search yesterday indicated to me.

He did the installation (full, according to him) and said he could not find Reporting Services.

So, the quick question is...

Where is Reporting Services in SQL Server 2005? I don't have a separate MSDN DVD that contains it as was the case on SQL Server 2000. This further supports my (wavering) position that it is part of the standard installation.

Thoughts? Direction? Collective kicks in the posterior?

Thanks!

SQL Server 2005 Express && Windows Reporting Services
Hi,

I've just installed SQL Server Express 2005 on our shiny new Windows Server 2003 R x64 server. It has an Intel 830 D chip that uses x86 and 64EMT.

Problem is that I get the message "64-bit ASP.Net is Registered. Required 32-bit ASP.Net to install Microsoft Reporting Services 2005(32-bit)."

Is there any way that I can remedy this?

Thanks in advance

Robert

SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services On Windows Vista
Hello out there!

I've tried to install all features in the SQL Server 2005 to run on Windows Vista. The Reporting Services failed to install. I think it is because of the IIS 7.0 that 's not recognised by SQL Server.

Is there anyone who have had the same problem and is there anyone who have a suggestion to solve this problem?
