SSIS Project Running In Debug Mode Brings Up The Wrong Script Task In The Debugger

Mar 12, 2008

This would actually be funny if I weren't under serious time constraints right now. I have an SSIS project with several script tasks in the control flow. I put breakpoints in one of them to allow me to step through and see whats going on. However, when I start the project, the IDE brings up the script editor for a different script task. The breakpoints in this task are actually on the same line numbers as the task I need to debug but the code is all wrong. I checked the task for which the code is being displayed and there are no breakpoints there.

Thanks for the assist!

Why Do All Packages In The Project Open When Running One In Debug Mode?

Feb 7, 2006

Does anyone know why this happens? When I run one of the packages in my project (by hitting the play button in the designer), all of the other packages in that project open before it starts running?

Thank you.

Bug? Wrong Count In The Data Flow Task In Debug Mode

Mar 10, 2008

I just had this happen twice in a row. The data flow task is showing a number of records almost twice as high as the actual data that is going into the table. This happened to me in two different DFT's with different data.

I am using an OLEDB source which uses a query something like:

select * from functiona()

In the DataFlowTask I see it had around 400,000 Rows go through the path all the way to the deastionation..

However I know that isn't right. If I do:

select count(*) from functiona() I get 200000 rows. Now the weird thing is if I check the table that it inserted to, it has the right number of rows, 200,000. (Numbers are not exact).

Anyone else had this happen?

Visual Studio Output Information In Debug Mode While Running A SSIS Package

Hello

Information: 0x4004300B at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: "component "OLE DB Destination" (1011)" wrote 1 rows.
SSIS package "logging.dtsx" finished: Success.

This is exactly when I need when a package is running but I want to be able to see it without using Visual Studio.
I would do it in Reporting Services but I need to find out to get the information. The SSIS logging feature in a package does not provide that kind of info.

Did someone try this already?

Thanks!

Integration Services :: Server Not Running SSIS Job In 32bit Mode?

Feb 4, 2015

I have a package that I developed in VS2012 (using the SQL Data Tools component) which collects data from a DBF file using the VFPOLEDB provider, and puts it into a database on a SQL Server 2012 X64 server. The project containing the package has the DebugOption of Run64BitRuntime set to false. I have imported this package to the SSIS Package Store of a test and live server (identical setups). The VFPOLEDB provider is installed on both, and I can see in the registry of both machines that it's there for 32bit runtimes.

The package runs fine on the test machine, but fails on the live machine. The live instance of SQL does not appear to recognize the 32bit VFPOLEDB provider that is installed. The only difference in the instances of SQL is that the live environment has an Integration Service Catalog set up, where as the test does not. Looking at the logs of the servers, when the live starts, it runs sp_ssis_startup, and then logs messages about unsafe assemblies being loaded in. This SP is not run on the test environment because there is no catalog.

The jobs I create have the flag set to use the 32bit runtime, but I feel that the SSIS Catalog is having an issue with the VFPOLEDB I am using, and not loading it.

I've tried uploading this file to the /cg268301 file using an execute process task and it works fine. I just don't know why it won't work with the FTP task.

I Can't Debug My SQL Server Project

Feb 24, 2007

I'm coding a TVF in C# and the debugger doesn't stop at all. It used to work when I was coding scalar functions, but it stop working since I removed my assembly from the DB and register it manually to test my SQL scripts. I removed the assembly again from my DB and re-deployed it with VS.2005 hoping that will fix it, but it didn't work. Right now I can't debug.

Have anybody had a problem like this before? Any help will be appreciated.

Team Project In TFS - SSIS Project Sets Itself As The Startup Project

May 29, 2008

For some reason in a Team Foundation Team Project that has multiple project types (SSRS, SSIS, WebSite, C# Business DLL...), the SSIS project makes itself the startup project to the team project. If I explicitly set another project as the startup project to the team project and then select an SSIS package in the SSIS project in the team project, the SSIS project becomes the startup project automatically.

I am using Visual Studio 2005 SP1.

Package Cancels In Debug Mode

Oct 10, 2007

I'm having problems getting a package that I'm trying to develop to run consistently.

This package is using and IBM OLE DB Provider for DB2 connection manager to move data from a remote DB2 for Windows source to a Native OLE DBSQL Native Client connection manger for a SQL 2005 destination.

Sometimes the package works. Sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't, a command window briefly flashes in Visual Studio before execution "completes". There are no error messages even though the job aborts and no data is moved. The only indication of failure is that the data flow task never changes to green and the output reports that the package was "Canceled". Here's the debug output I'm getting:

Information: 0x40016041 at Integrity_Report_ABD: The package is attempting to configure from the XML file "O:JrsfilesScriptsSSISConfigDB.dtsConfig".

Information: 0x40016040 at Integrity_Report_ABD: The package is attempting to configure from SQL Server using the configuration string ""SSISConfiguration";"[dbo].[SSISConfigurations]";"DMS.EDW.EtlData";".

Information: 0x40016040 at Integrity_Report_ABD: The package is attempting to configure from SQL Server using the configuration string ""SSISConfiguration";"[dbo].[SSISConfigurations]";"FG.DCS.ABD";".

SSIS package "Integrity_Report_ABD.dtsx" starting.

Information: 0x40043006 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: Prepare for Execute phase is beginning.

Information: 0x40043007 at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: Pre-Execute phase is beginning.

SSIS package "Integrity_Report_ABD.dtsx" finished: Canceled.

This is the first time we've tried to connect to our WinDB2 servers with SSIS. I'm thinking that I may need to move away from this type of connection and revert back to something like ODBC.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Bryan

Command Line Arguments In Debug Mode

Apr 24, 2007

Hi,

I am passing some /SET commands on the command line when I execute packages I created in SSIS and have run from the SQL Server Job manager. When I put these same /SET commands on the command line arguments section of the project properties page I would expect they would be passed into the executed package when it is run thru BIDS. But the variables still have their defined values when the packages executes.

Is there a trick to getting command line arguments to work in the debugger for SSIS/BIDS??

Execute Mutiple Tasks In Debug Mode

Apr 7, 2006

Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't find how to run multiple tasks in sequence while in Visual Studio debug mode. In DTS design mode I grew accustomed to right-clicking tasks one-at-a time, but in SSIS I find the additional step of having to exit Debugging mode after every task gets old after a while.

There must be a way to start execution at a certain task and have the package continue all the way to some other specified task. It would also be nice to have every task in a Group execute in sequence and stop (even if connections continue beyond the group). I could even settle for repeatedly clicking the Continue button in Debug mode, but it's always grayed out when the current task is finished!

Can this be achieved by setting breakpoints?

SSIS Timeout When Running Execute SQL Task

Feb 28, 2008

Forget it -- I decided to take to crappy way out --
Instead of executing a procedure and trying to get the output when running a SSIS package, I simply run the query in the first step of the SQL Agent Job and fill a table with the results.
All I have SSIS do is export the table to a flat file.

I'm getting the following when I try to run in BIDS:
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Executing the query "dbo.prcCreatePayExtract" failed with the following error: "Query timeout expired". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

It appears that the timeout hits at 30 seconds which I've captured in SQL Profiler but I can't see to find where on earth in the package I can set the timeout. The "Timeout" on the task is set to zero and the Connection Timeout and General Timeout are both zero.

Any help is greatly appreciated,
Sid

Integration Services :: Excel Source On SSIS 2008 Brings Null Values

Apr 20, 2010

I'm trying to import some XLS files that I receive from some suppliers. The problem is that every time they send some columns with text values but formatted as number. When I read those columns with SSIS Excel Source, they come all with null values.

I don't want to change the columns data types every time, so I would like to know if there's a way to bypass the column types that are already there.

I tried to use both the Jet driver and the Office 12 driver. I've already used the IMEX=1 on ExtendedProperties too with no success. Is there a way to force reading the columns as text, even if they have data types assigned to them?

SQL Server 2008 :: Running WinSCP In SSIS Task / Bat File

Apr 29, 2015

I'm trying to call WinSCP in a SSIS Execute Process Task using a .bat file to automate. SSIS is returning a generic failure error message ("Error: 0xC0029151 at Execute Process Task, Execute Process Task: In Executing "MyServerC$Program Files (x86)WinSCPWinSCP.exe" "-script=MyNASShareWinSCPFTP.bat " at "", The process exit code was "1" while the expected was "0"."). So now I'm trying to run the .bat file by itself. Unfortunately, the command prompt rushes by so fast that I can't see what the server is doing.

I can't find anything on the WinSCP site that indicates how to slow down the .bat file processing or log the remote server responses. I do see how to use the /log switch when using the interactive command line console, but that's not what I want to do.

2. If the above answer is yes,I don't have the SSMS installed on my machine. Can a SSIS package run in the absence of SSMS?(I do have Visual studio and SQL server data tools installed)

3. Can a SSIS Package run in the absence of Visual studio and SQL Server Data Tools.Say for example, I create a SSIS package and then remove Visual studio and SQL server data tools from my machine. Will the Task scheduler still be able to run the SSIS package?

4. Does the SSMS free edition comes along with SQL server Agent?

Script Task, Debugger Stops And Waits Indefinitely

Jul 7, 2006

Hello,

I have MS SQL Server 2005 with SP1 installed, version 9.0.2047
I am trying to debug a Script Task in SSIS.
I have break point on the first line of the code.
SSIS runs and eventually launches MS Visual Studio for Applications.
Line with the break point is highlighted in yellow.
After that Visual Studio is frozen. F5, F11 or any other key press produces a popup which says the following:

Delay notification.
Microsoft Visual Studio for Applications is waiting for an operation to complete. If you regularly encounter this delay during normal usage please report this problem to Microsoft. Please include a description of the work you were doing in Microsoft Visual Studio for Applications and when possible instructions how to reproduce this delay.
If Microsoft Visual Studio for Applications is waiting on another application you can switch to that application now, or you can continue waiting for this operation to complete.

The popup has to buttons: [Switch to€¦] and [Continue Waiting]
None of the buttons allows to proceed.

Any idea what causes Microsoft Visual Studio for Applications to a complete halt?

Regards,
Yitzhak

Running A Ssis Package In Sql Server Agent With Execute Process Task

Now when i try to run in from smss > agent jobs > job and run job it never completes. Im not getting any error message either it just keeps on running on the step ??? It seems like a rights issue, but the account running the sql server agent is able to execute the cmd file directly from the command prompt.

There are no errors in any error logs anywhere and no error is displayed...

Ps. Im running the job step as a integration service pacgake.

Error Description Differs When Logged With Redirect Rows Compared With Debug Mode

Jan 18, 2007

Hi,

Can any one please tell me how to get the complete error description for example when i dont Redirect Row for Error in OLEDB Source i get a detailed error message with column name as

[RCheck [385]] Error: There was an error with input column "CHECK_STATUS" (456) on input "OLE DB Destination Input" (398). The column status returned was: "The value could not be converted because of a potential loss of data.".

But when I set Redirect Row for error and use the Script component to log them into a Table with ErrorDescription based on ErrorColumnID it only gives me this.

The data value cannot be converted for reasons other than sign mismatch or data overflow.

Visual Studio 2005 Automatically Sets SSIS Project As Startup Project

Feb 23, 2007

I have a Visual Studio 2005 solution which contains a Sql Server Integration Services (SSIS) project.

In this solution I have explicitly set a Web application project as startup project, but whenever I edit a DTS package within the SSIS project, VS automatically sets the SSIS project as startup project and the package I edit as startup object.

Needless to say, this may cause some really unwanted incidents when running the solution - thinking that you're about to run the Web application project (that was explicitly set as startup project), but instead, you run the edited package in the SSIS project.

Is there any way to avoid having the SSIS project automatically setting itself as startup project, any workaround here at all? :)

Thanks.

Integration Services :: Automate Process Of Creating A Project On SSISDB Based On SSIS Project Name?

Apr 20, 2015

I've got an SSIS solution file with project deployment model in VS 2013 and would like to deploy that to SSISDB on different environments. All these days I followed the regular way to create a project in SSISDB and deploy it to that. Now want to find out if i can automate this process and so got some questions

1. Can we automate the process of creating a project on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name?  This will be like when we do a deployment it should check if the project exists or not on SSISDB based on our SSIS project name, if the project exists we just deploy the packages in the project and if the project does not exists in SSISDB it will create that project and deploy the packages.

2. Can we also automate the process of creating environments? In traditional way we manually create the environment variables under environment tab of SSISDB, but can we make that also as part of deployment? Like when we are releasing to Dev server we look if that particular Dev variable exists on that server, if it exists we just update the existing stuff and if it does not exists we just create it.
