Excel Source (351) Returned Error Code 0x80040E21

Oct 19, 2007

[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The PrimeOutput method on component "Excel Source" (351) returned error code 0x80040E21.
The component returned a failure code when the pipeline engine called PrimeOutput().
The meaning of the failure code is defined by the component, but the error is fatal and the pipeline stopped executing.

Here is my request: Print out the row number and the contents of the offending field when an error like this occurs.

Wish list item:Have One Switch that tells SSIS to keep going and skip bad row.
Now I have to tell it twice for every field and it still stops!

Enough already. Why let one bad record stop 65,000?

Ssis Oledb Connection Error Code: 0x80040E21.

Jan 25, 2007

howdy,
i have a sqlserver2005 ssis package which connects to a mysql webserver to upload data. i am connecting via mysql oledb connection and am able to test connect ok through the oledb connection manager. However in my ole db destination editor i get an 0x80040E21 error when trying to preview a table . The full error is :

Error at Data Flow Task [Destination - Query [70]]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21.

Error at Data Flow Task [Destination - Query [70]]: Opening a rowset for "INFORMATION_SCHEMA.address_book" failed. Check that the object exists in the database.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Exception from HRESULT: 0xC02020E8 (Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)

I can see all the tables in the drop down box in connection manager. This has been driving me nuts for the last 3 days! I have tried changing some of the security connection settings to no avail, (although i am not sure on what these do).I have also tried setting up as an odbc connection using script components but had memory errors after copying several hundred records and the package just hangs. I can go into this in more detail however i dont think they are related issues and i would prefer oledb as i dont have to script my data transfer.

any help much much appreciated.

thanks

Teradata Data Source

Jan 14, 2008

I'm trying to convert old DTS packages over to SSIS and also create new SSIS packages that use teradata as a warehouse source for many different departments.

So far i've tried what I can find here on the forums:

using special syntax and wrapping the sql command in an alias/variable name

Methods i've tried:
using an ODBC connection string that works just fine in VB for pulling data. - test connection succeeds but when I select data reader source I get:

Error at Data Flow Task [DataReader Source[185]]: Cannot acquire a managed connection from the run-time connection manager

Using an OLE DB connection where I get the standard error many have gotten and I tried the listed use special syntax and wrapping the sql command in an alias/variable name from :
MSDN
Error at Data Flow Task [Source - Testing]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E21. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "OLE DB Provider for Teradata" Hresult: 0x80040E21 Description: "Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated errors. Check each OLE DB status value, if available. No work was done.".
Currently i'm testing/trying this on a very simple view that produces 2 columns and 173 rows of string data.
I have not tried the .net provider and am reluctant to accept that as the only solution if it works as it would involve permissions issues and red tape here at the bank and is a less user-friendly solution for my dev team.

Any ideas?

Driver version on my machine and likely the other 5 that would need this to work:
3.03.00.01 12/17/2003

Connection Problem To Connect To TeraData From SSIS

Feb 10, 2008

Hi
I have a problem to connect to TeraData from SSIS.
I have the TeraData client (Query Man) that I connect to the TeraData using ODBC connection. When I connect with Query Man I can see the objects (views) of the correct scheme. However, when I try to connect with SSIS using the same ODBC connection €“ I don€™t see the objects of the specific scheme. The way that I connect to TeraData using SSIS is creating DS connection (with odbc) and then I create DSV €“ where this is the point that I can see lots of other schemes objects, but not the scheme€™s objects that I can see in the Query Man.
Can anyone assist?

Thanks,
Mario

Integration Services :: Teradata Attunity Connector In SSIS For Unicode Characters

Nov 14, 2015

I'm new to SSIS, using Terdata Attunity connector for integrating data flow between Terdata (source) to SQL Server (Target).

SSIS package is getting failed because of length mismatch between source and Target for Unicode character datatype columns. Reason is Teradata TPT always occupies 3 times more length of actual defined in DB.

Even I tried by increasing length of attribute in Source but it didn't work.

I know by converting datatype from unicode -> Latin would work, but i don't want to do conversion since loosing some characters.

SSIS OLE DB Source Error

Oct 3, 2006

I am creating an OLE DB Data Source in an SSIS Data Flow - it is calling a SQL Server 2005 stored procedure, which accepts 3 parameters and returns a result set, but I get the following error:

"There is a data source column with no name. All data source columns must have a name."

I have have tested the output of this proc a million times, and every column has a name! I am also able to call a different proc in the same way, without error:

EXEC pProc @DT = '20060928', @Id = 1015, @Debug = 0

Any ideas what could possibly be causing this error - assuming all of my columns DO have names??

Thanks : )

Using Teradata .NET Data Provider As Data Source

May 15, 2006

Recently I installed the .NET data provider for Teradata.
In a regular C# application I can add the namespace, "using
Teradata.Client.Provider;" to connect to this data provider
directly without going though ODBC or OLD DB so I know it works.

However, when I open Reporting Services (new project -> Business Intelligence
Projects) I do not see how to add the Teradata .NET provider. I only
see the same standard data types as before. I have searched and I do
not see how to add the Teradata .NET provider to the available "Type"
list when you click €œAdd New Data Source€? to your report.
Thanks!

Most of the tables we require have this field.

SQL Server Compact Edition Sdf As Data Source In SSIS Import And Export Wizard - Error

Jul 31, 2007

Should I be able to use a SQL Server Compact Edition sdf file as the data source for the SSIS Import and Export Wizard?

When I select the .net Framework Provider for compact Edition from the data source drop down, I get a message box with "An error occured which the SSIS Wizard was not prepared to handle. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. (mscorlib) Specified method is not supported. (System.Data.SqlServerCe)"

We have a user with a sdf file that will no longer sync, so we wanted to get her data from sdf file tables into SQL Server tables quickly and easily. Since the SSIS wizard wouldn't work with the sdf data source, we copied SQL Server Mgmt Studio query results into an Excel spreadsheet via the Clipboard, them imported those records with SSIS. But we need a repeatable process in case this happens in the future.

We tried to reinitialize her merge replication subscription with SQL Server Mgmt studio, and with C# code, but none of that would work.

How many MS data provider options are available for SQL Server compact edition? I see ".Net Framework Data Provider for Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition" in the SSIS data source drop down, but shouldn't I also see an OLE-DB Provider for SQL Server Compact Edition?

This is all on my XP workstation where I can successfully write C# code for SQL Server Compact data access with Assembly = System.Data.SqlServerCe = C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 8Common7IDEPublicAssembliesSystem.Data.SqlServerCe.dll. So I think I have the proper tools installed.

Thanks.

Using XML Source In SSIS Vs Script Source To Parse Xml Files.

Sep 14, 2007

Hi

I am having a huge xml file with nested section.
i also have a xsd file for that xml.
i have a destination table where the data from the xml should be loaded into.
i am using the xml source transformation. But o get all the data i need to use multiple merje joins to get the data in a single row which i can insert into the destination.i was not quiet convinced with using so many joins.

so i tried using the script source transformation where i am using xml objects to get the node and dynamically construction the data row. and the output is then inserted into the destination.
on comparing the two approach the one using the script source is working much faster than the xml source transformation.

i wanted to know is there any limitaion using the script source to parse through xml files.
also i would like to know any other better way of getting the data from xml source without using the joins.

Source Code For The Standard SSIS Components That Come With SSIS?

Hi,

I'm finding that the standard components often just don't quite meet my

Or do you just have to start form scratch?

Teradata Datapump Issue

Nov 8, 2007

Wether I'm trying to access a datapump task in an imported package in SSIS, or in 2000 enterprise manager

they crash once created. I can not alter or redo mappings or anything else.
After enterprise manager churns for 5-10 min it crashes.

SSIS partially crashes: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt. After this I can no longer click on anything and have to end task on Visual studio.

I can do a disconnected edit on the package in enterprise manager and alter the statement, but as far as I know you can't really change much as far as mappings back in there.
This also means that my 2000 packages have been limited to 1 teradata pump per package.

This happened on my laptop, 2 coworker's desktops, and now that i've migrated to a new high end developer box it's happening on it also.

Any feedback/ideas?

IA64 Teradata OLE-DB Or ODBC

Sep 5, 2006

I have a 32 bit development/playbox SQL 2005 SSIS that can see and run 32 bit OLE DB drivers from Teradata. Granted I have the same issues as others where a table or a view would work and not a query or a variable query. The alternative is to use Linked Server and OPENQUERY.

But our real development box is a 64 bit IA 64 using 64 bit SQL 2005. Non of the Teradata.com drivers would work/show up in the dropdown box of the Connection Manager since they are 32 bit. One option is to use the 64 bit Teradata ODBC drivers and then use the .Net ODBC connection instead. Linked server doesn't work either because the SQL 2005 is 64 bit and it is looking for 64 bit drivers.

Has anyone have any experience with 64 bit SQL 2005 and Teradata?

Looked at other 3rd party vendors such as ETI but their documentation excludes IA 64 (Itanium).

Planning to try again using the 64 bit ODBC and .Net Adapter but I'm interested to hear if someone (MSFT & NCR) would have a real solution for 64 bit.

Thanks

Anatole
